There is no good reason why the private key needs to be stored on a masternode.

In an ideal setup, you would just broadcast a signed message "Authorizing 123.123.123.123 as masternode with input 1bcd1c22a3687e1ec1ea6ce61d3a43fae3581da9305d64fda298bbb66d1691ec expires 1398622305"

In this case 123.123.123.123 would be your masternode, but you don't need to have the private keys on that node. The signed message proves you are authorizing that IP to be the masternode for that input.

Did you see Evan's post about not needing the 1000 DRK on the actual master node? You just start a master node on your local machine and then call a darkcoind command to forward the master node to some other machine running darkcoind. I'm sure it works the way you describe, or something very similar.

The best setup is to have 2 machines:

Machine A: Holds 1000DRK, runs as masternode. Use configuration option -masternodeaddr=machineB
Machine B: Holds 0DRK, runs as masternode.

There's no target.

Hummmm, I don't think that's implemented yet, 'cause I haven't seen anything saying you could do that???

In this scenario you are proposing, would it be possible to spend the 1000 DRKs (located elsewhere) after the node initiates?

It sounds to me like it could.  Or there would be potential for a hole to be found.  Simple is always better.

guys is it possible to make an easy creation of masternode ,because for me is too hard ,i ve read how to make it 00000 understanding Smiley . i have 7k darkcoins

No offence but if you read a guide and still can't do it you shouldn't be doing it! Leave it up to the pros or wait for a server image to come out!

A server image will eventually come out.  Don't worry, as we are not being paid for them yet Smiley

I'm new to darkcoin and don't know much about it, but I noticed that Darkcoin.io has an old windows binary. The download on the front page is 0.9.1.2. It's not cool. That should be changed!

I know, both developers have their noses to the grindstone lately, and I can imagine it's hard to switch to do the mundane of keeping the website up to date, especially because the design is still up in the air... Ugh!
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 27, 2014, 06:38:14 PM
Anybody have teamviewer willing to help me get my oldwallet n sync with new wallet I have over 200 coins in wallet stuck I tried to send my coins from old to new but the wallet never synced?

I think we have to use the RC1 wallet now.  Can anyone confirm that the regular wallet still works?

Unfortunately, this leaves a hole where you can't compile the wallet yourself as the beta is closed source until it's finished.  I may be wrong though???

Please let's calm down. Bitcoin didn't go up overnight. Warren Buffett didn't make his billions overnight. Darkcoin won't go to BTC parity overnight. But I think it could make a serious play on BTC in the coming months.

Instead of running commentary on the short term swings in price, let's get to work on developing the community and promoting the benefits of anonymous transactions. Not many people know about DRK. Let's get to work people. That's how we'll change the fortunes of DRK supporters/investors.

I'm editing/rewriting the Darkcoin website copy. I plan to have something to show by the end of the week. I also recently wrote that media release and I plan to write more releases as DRK develops. Other people are putting in some good work.

What's everyone else doing?

Cool story.

Guy, you are not a hero... everyone can make a website and call the media ect, ect. Just.... you wanna do it then you do it, everybody has a work to do in this world.

I don't understand why you come here playing the hero and blaming the people for nothing lol.

Ah, you mis-read him, he isn't "playing the hero" he's trying to encourage us to do something.  I'm always trying to think of something I'm able to do, but frankly, I'm not all that great at much, LOL.  After my chores, I might try some research so I can write something up with backup???  Ummmm yah, I'm avoiding chores like the plague right now, LOL.  Lazy is my second name, LOL
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 27, 2014, 06:27:26 PM
I was contemplating the financial effect of masternodes in terms of fractional inflation that Bitcoin might be subject to. Exchanges tend to be a parking place for a large number of coins which can lead to MtGox situations where the exchange is actually transacting with non-existing coins (something like fractional banking)... by transacting with non-existent coins, the demand is reduced for actual coins (=bad for price). The same might apply to payment processors where they can do away with cryptos if a client only cares abouf fiat.

The incentive to pull 1000s of DRKs into DarkSend nodes will significantly reduce the parked DRKs and the ability of third parties to make fractional practices with DRKs that they do not own, which is good for the price. At the same time, risk exposure to hacked exchanges that lose hundreds of thousands of coins will also be reduced as the coins parked will be less. However there is the individual risk of each running node to get hacked, so this needs to be very well thought out. 100 nodes running = 100k DRK bounty for hackers.

It'll be an interesting experiment for sure...

And a scary one, I'm scared.  I think everyone should be scared.  Scared enough to take this seriously

bought 4btc drk at 500   Huh Huh I;m the worst trader  Cry

I sold some of my dark at something like 24 or so, bought it back at 51, lost half of 'em!  I think I deserve the crown.

On the other hand, I'm glad what I have is back in dark, and I won't screw up like that again.  Don't be too concerned, seriously, I'm certain it will be going up so much higher, it won't matter.

he can only pump my ... tbh Cheesy

i dont undestand how you guys only aim for PUMP and DUMP, no other way to give this coin 5 min of time Tongue

LOL, on mine too.  Some people have no clue about Darkcoin.
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 27, 2014, 05:53:56 PM
I would like to draw Evan's and community's attention to MaidSafe as a strong competitor.

In short they plan to offer p2p services like storage, web-serving, etc. etc. which was also an idea for masternodes. But here it is provided by every peer, not only selected nodes.

That's the brilliance of MasterNodes, regular wallet holders won't have to keep a bulky blockchain on their computer (or webpages, or messages, etc...) only Masternodes.  And there are going to be enough MasterNodes to keep the whole system decentralized and secure.

I don't think we have anything to worry about.  The foundation has been set for the tallest building in the world.
415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 27, 2014, 05:50:18 PM
I suggested something to Evan last night...  What if you put the blockchain on them to serve up?  What if wallets don't have to hold 17 gigs of blockchain, but are all lightweight due to the MasterNodes serving up this information when needed?

TanteStefana - THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST IDEAS I'VE HEARD RECENTLY.
And connecting such masternods to a small Android/ios thin wallet would be pure AWESOME.
booyaka...

Evan also mentioned i2p  Wink

Darkcoin is about to become a top 10 cryptocurrency! You can pretty much count that everyone into cryptos will have heard about it. Wink Congratulations everyone!

'bout time, eh?
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: wow i got called a Troll again.. mark it on the calender on: April 27, 2014, 05:43:58 PM
thanks but that is pretty vague.. it seems like a take the dev's word for it sort of thing..
as in did the dev on this or other coins simply make a mistake or did they do something on purpose.. there is no way to know.
unless your a mouthy fanboy bagholder of course.. they happen to have all the facts  Roll Eyes

and guys gimme a break with the troll name calling childish crap this is not high school
this is a financial industry with big money involved.. your a dipshit moron if you don't ask questions as much as you can PERIOD .

the question is someone trolling by definition to cause chaos or are they just talking about coins ?
one is trolling and the other is not.. is this clear yet or do i have to say it again a few more million times ?
ps: that was rhetorical, i know damn well i will explaining what a troll is again and again and again..

and by the way ignore whom ever you like it does not CHANGE anything..
If LOTS of people out there are concerned about this coins start up then are you going to ignore them all to vanquish them evil "nourishing" Trolls ?

sadly we are engulfed in corruption ..open your eyes.
every time anything bad pops up we hear blah blah ignore the trolls by bag holders.. gimme a break with that crap already.

Yes Spoetnik, there is evil everywhere.  You can believe the Developer who has been working his ass off these past 3 months, or you can come up with conspiracy theories until the cows come home.  You keep bringing this up = trolling to me.  You got everyone's opinions.  What is it you want?  To me, even if Evan were a crook, it doesn't even matter anymore.  The coins are long sold off, a better outcome than if only miners got access to coins, in my opinion.  It's a mute point, and doesn't matter anymore.

Are you on a crusade to make sure every newb that comes here knows what happened via your point of view (developer had an evil plan?)  I think that is your purpose, despite the fact that it's posted everywhere, hence I suspect FUD.  Or else you simply need attention?  It doesn't matter to me, but that is why you're on my ignore list, because you're annoying without bringing anything new or of value to the table, sorry.

Darkcoin is #3 as far as volume for last 24 hours, only behind BTC and LTC. Watchout! DRK could take over LTC spot very quickly!

It is Darkcoin rightful place. LTC became ASIC b!tch and its going down .

LOL, and BTC is stagnant and will also go down ;P

Someone is working hard to keep the price below 0.00385 on Cryptsy. They've been at it for the last 2 hours.

No, somebody is working on it to stop the fall before it hits my buy order. Tongue
While I believe that this coin has the most promising future of all altcoins, I also believe that this was a simple pump and the price will fall below 0.003 (not below ~0.0025 though, 0.0013 is history, I think) like with the rest of the pumped coins. It's no different. Not yet.
Just take a look, even the mighty BTC felt back eventually and LTC followed it (not that I personally ever saw any future for LTC and I completely wrote if off after GridSeed came, but some did).

Well, I get the feeling it will go to .02 before it floats there a while.

But it's just a feeling???

It's been a long time coming, yet I think it's freaky going up all of a sudden.  Kind of like a pressure release, then pull back because it's gone up so fast.
