401  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 7 NEW GAMES HAVE BEEN ADDED 🎰🎰🎰 on: June 14, 2017, 02:21:27 PM

The jackpot prize has been increased to 1.13 BTC as I saw today and it makes me want to hunt it. Who knows if I will be so lucky today. With 10k satoshi if we are lucky we can get 1 Bitcoin. Good luck me and everybody!

The rules to win the Jackpot have changed. Be sure to check the help page for the info which is also shown below:

Quote
If you win the Jackpot, you will receive 90% from the Jackpot amount if your bet was above or equal to 0.01 BTC (Bitcoin) or equivalent value in other supported crypto-currencies.

If your bet was lower than this stipulated amount, you will receive only a percentage of the Jackpot amount. You can calcluate it as WAGER*90/0.01.

403  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to backup an Electrum Wallet on: June 14, 2017, 03:13:08 AM
Thank you all for your input...I just want to be SURE that I understand. Just save my seed and password. So consequently, if anything happens to my
computer. I can download a new Electrum wallet and bring up my seed and password from my damaged computer???  Just a scenerio to determine how this tactic would play out...I hope to hear from you soon....

You don't even really need the password. The seed is all that is needed and you can recreate the entire wallet on a new computer. You would just download Electrum and go through the process and indicate you already have a seed when creating a wallet.
404  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Understanding Order Book Orders vs Price Movement on: June 14, 2017, 12:40:43 AM

The order book basically lists the supply and demand for the coin. If someone purchases a particular altcoin and buys all the ones listed between the .1-.15 range for instance, the price would rise to .15 as that would be the cheapest listed on the market until other users list lower priced coins or adjust their listings.

Increased demand will drive the price upwards and increased supply will drive the price downwards.
[/quote]

So it takes the furthest price to move to from what has been bought?
[/quote]

The price is essentially the cheapest that anyone is offering to sell the coin. If all the coins of a certain price are bought up, the price will move up to the next lowest price someone is selling it for.
405  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum charged me Huge fee using dynamic fees on: June 13, 2017, 06:57:27 PM
I purchased something for $86 and my fee was $15. That's insane.

I know fees are charged by the size of something, not the dollar amount but how do you figure out what the size is and avoid getting ripped off.  $15 is obscene.  even with the discount I got paying with bitcoin it would hae been cheaper to pay cash.

So how do you figure out what a good fee is so you get confirmed but don't get fleeced.

You can check http://bitcoinfees.21.co for the recommended fees and a graph that can help you pick the best fee. If you use a lower fee than recommended, it will take longer to confirm. But yeah, $15 for a $86 transaction is a bit insane. It all depends on the number of inputs you have, if you are combining a bunch of small inputs, the size of the transaction can grow quite quickly.

You can also use the preview function of Electrum before sending and it will show the size and fee it plans to use so you can confirm the amounts before you send.
406  Economy / Services / Re: Crack my bitcoin wallet address and get 0.155 btc + 0.5BTC on: June 13, 2017, 05:47:55 PM
anyone have any luck?

No luck here, unfortunately. It would help if you had a bit more of an idea of the password or its length. Longer passwords are likely not gonna be possible to find without a better idea of the password.
407  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase STOLE more than 10 BTC !!!! on: June 13, 2017, 05:44:35 PM
Hi guys! Last week I blocked my account because I was not sure about the security of the data. Now when I want to unlock it, Coinbase support answers that they simply do not have email support in my region now! And this is despite the fact that 2 months ago the support worked perfectly! They just decided to steal my money and not unlock the account! Support does not answer! Any suggestions?

How exactly did you block your account? You'll probably just have to try different methods of contacting support. Maybe try messaging them via twitter or something as well. If you have coins in the account, they should have some obligation to help you.
408  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Understanding Order Book Orders vs Price Movement on: June 13, 2017, 03:52:14 PM
I'm trying to understand how much a currency would move once an order from the order book has been taken down.

For example, if the price is currently at 0.1000 BTC (for a particular Altcoin), and the first BID order is for 1 whole Bitcoin at say 0.0999.

If this order is taken up, then how much would the currency move upwards from 0.1000?

Appreciate the help,

JH

The order book basically lists the supply and demand for the coin. If someone purchases a particular altcoin and buys all the ones listed between the .1-.15 range for instance, the price would rise to .15 as that would be the cheapest listed on the market until other users list lower priced coins or adjust their listings.

409  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How to buy Bitcoins from Poloniex using Debit Card? on: June 13, 2017, 03:45:24 PM
What's the easiest way to buy Bitcoins from Poloniex with Visa debit card? Or what's the next best exchange which allow to buy Bitcoins with cards and don't require any "send picture of your id card" hassle? Since i need to do this just once, it would be nice if there's no need to create any account at all.

I don't think you can purchase bitcoins via a debit card on Poloniex. Poloniex is for trading between different types of cryptocurrencies and they don't deal in fiat afaik. You would be better off using something like Coinbase for this.
410  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 2.8.3 Not Responding After Closing on: June 13, 2017, 03:25:46 PM
I download for first time Electrum BTC 2.8.3 and install without any problem. Then i import my private keys from MultiBit Classic using this info : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1924340.0

After few minutes wallet is sync and I see my balance and transaction history, some transaction are not veryfied-they get veryfied later but when open wallet again I see some of them again are not veryfied,is that normal?

But main problem is that after I click on "Quit" wallet is not closing-just not responding and need to be close through TaskManager. The operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise and I use Electrum wallet for LTC&DASH,never have such problem.

Did the wallet fully sync and you saw the green light in the lower right corner of the window?

It is possible that by force closing Electrum, some of the synced data isn't properly being recorded which is why you are seeing them not verified once you re-open the wallet.

Do any of the imported addresses have a very large number of transactions? I've seem some stability issues with imported addresses that have a ton of transaction history. You might want to try creating a new wallet using a seed and transfer your funds to that wallet. The seed based wallets are recommended also due to the easy of backing up and restoring a seed rather than a bunch of individual private keys.
411  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is the current data directory size of the bitcoind? on: June 13, 2017, 03:37:00 AM
You won't need the full space of the blockchain if you use the pruning feature in recent versions of Bitcoin Core. If you use pruning, you shouldn't have an issue with 100GB free space.
412  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: June 13, 2017, 03:31:50 AM
i hv hardware rnd generator i can use it on vanitygen ? if i can how use it ? add rand bit's how seed ? Or what need do for vanity gen use my rnd bit's
my rng gen bit's entropy

Entropy = 7.999506 bits per byte.

Optimum compression would reduce the size
of this 333348 byte file by 0 percent.

Chi square distribution for 333348 samples is 227.67, and randomly
would exceed this value 89.00 percent of the times.

Arithmetic mean value of data bytes is 127.4296 (127.5 = random).
Monte Carlo value for Pi is 3.143309694 (error 0.05 percent).
Serial correlation coefficient is -0.001518 (totally uncorrelated = 0.0).

Vanitygen includes the -s option which allows you to seed the random number generator from a file on the system. If your hardware random number generator can be accessed via a file, you should be able to use it like this.

how work -s , it pick all bits how one seed , or how it pick them ?  How match it pick  bit's for 1 generation , i dont understand this
here is example of hardware gen numbers output. It's generate random bit's. But how vanitygen use them?
Code:

The -s option would be the path to a file that contains the output of the hardware device. On linux, for example, this might be /dev/hardwaredevice or whatever the path to your device is. Not sure exactly how this would work on Windows though.
413  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet Question on: June 12, 2017, 08:12:40 PM
Hi there.  Im still using electrum 2.7.8.

Where do i upgrade to the new version?  When was the new version released?

You can download the new version at https://electrum.org/#download

Im curious but do most people do what im asking about?  Such as you need to put a password before you can open electrum to see your balance etc?

When i click on wallet, then password, it ask for my current password, password and confirm password.

So my current password is the password that i use before i send my bitcoin right?  Because when i send bitcoin, it ask me to enter a password.  But you mention the seed dialogue?  Im confused here because isn't that the 12 word recovery phrase?

Are you using the new electrum version or the version im using?  Because all i see is current password, password and confirm password.

So for password and confirm password, im suppose to put a new password?  So that means i essentially will have 2 passwords for electrum?  My current one for sending btc and another one just for opening my electrum wallet?  Or are both those passwords going to be the same?

Also if i do any mistake with this, as long as i have the 12 word recovery phrase, then any error i make here doesn't matter right?

You should first download and install version 2.8.3 of Electrum which supports the encryption method. Then you just need to change the password via the Menu option. Be sure to select the Encrypt wallet option. You can leave the password the same during this process and then you will have both the encryption and sending passwords as the same password. It will prompt you for this password when you open Electrum.

The Wallet -> Password box should look something like this if you have an unencrypted wallet:
414  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Address BTC Balance Question on: June 12, 2017, 08:09:47 PM
Under change, there is the word used and a lot of btc addresses.  The first btc address is the one i use a good amount.  I shows a good amount of Tx there meaning lot of trasnactions.  My balance in that address isn' that much compared to the other btc addresses i have below.  Biascally i have around 10 btc addresses in that Used thing... where many have btc in it... which all add up to my btc balance.

My question is why are my btc spread out through all these addresses when many of these addresses i never used as a receiving address?

Electrum uses change addresses by default and any change left over after spending some bitcoins is sent to a new address under the change section.

The other thing is when i send btc to someone, which address is it coming from and shows to the other person/site?  Does it show the btc address where i do the most transactions?  Or does it come from the other addresses?

It will come from a random address or addresses unless you manually choose to spend from specific addresses or coin inputs using the Addresses/Coins tabs. You can right click on those and choose Spend From.

Also is it true the address that you use to send btc, they could see how many btc you have in that address?  If so, that surprises me because wouldn't that present a security issue?

Yes. The balances of all bitcoin addresses are public knowledge. This is part of the reason that change addresses are used as they help increase your privacy by sending change coins to a new address each time and spreading them out over multiple addresses.

What if you use another wallet like blockchain or other wallet like armory etc.  Does btc show up in different addresses even though you never used that address?  Because it seem like when i receive btc, it would be broken up and sent to many different address in many of the Used addresses.

Different wallets handle change differently and most allow you to choose how you want to handle it. New addresses for change are recommended for privacy reasons but you could always choose not to use them if you didn't want to. They only get sent to the change addresses when you sent coins not when you receive them.
415  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Help! Made a rookie mistake - sent bitcoin to a crystalbits wallet address... on: June 12, 2017, 03:39:09 PM
This happened on Tux Exchange. I created a support ticket, but have to wait until probably tomorrow for a response. Any help on what I should or shouldn't do to fix this would be appreciated.

I don't think there is much that you can do. I recommend contacting crystalbits if you haven't already as they would likely need to be the ones to send you your bitcoin back. Support at the Exchange likely won't be able to do anything for you.
416  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet Question on: June 12, 2017, 04:12:41 AM
You can. You have to encrypt the wallet file with the seed dialog. To do so, go to Electrum and go to Wallet and click Password.

Key in a password and check "Encrypt Wallet File". Whenever you start Electrum, you have to key in your password to see the wallet information.

Make sure you are running a recent version of Electrum as well as the encrypt feature was added in version 2.8.0
417  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP Electrum payment sent Variable (?) cancellabel by mistake. How do I fix? on: June 12, 2017, 12:05:33 AM
Can't remember the option but I forgot to unclick it so there is a yellow triangle before the transaction.  Plus I can't find tx ID.

Help. I need to change it.   Can't figure it out.  Now it's like a clock

Got two confirmations but what is that?  why would I use it?  Seems like sellers would think we would back out.

Note to self. Do not buy on zero sleep.

The clock icon in Electrum means that it is awaiting confirmations. Electrum considers transactions fully processed after receiving six confirmations and which point you will see the green checkmark.

The yellow triangle is a warning and sometimes that will show up for transactions with low fees or other issues. You should be able to right click on the transaction and click Details to find the transaction ID.
418  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Litecoin Wallet? on: June 12, 2017, 12:00:06 AM
Im using electrum with bitcoin.  I want to get ETH and it seems the best wallet is myetherwallet.  I also am thinking about getting litecoin.  I notice there is an electrum litecoin wallet.

Can someone who used it tell me how is it?  Does it work pretty much exactly like Electrum with bitcoin?  Thus you get a 12 word phrase as a backup and you have to download it on your computer?  If so, i will definitely use this with Litcoin as im very used to electrum with btc.

Thanks.

Yeah, it is pretty similar to Electrum with bitcoin and uses the same style 12 word phrase as a seed. Check out https://electrum-ltc.org/ for more information.
419  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: June 11, 2017, 07:56:54 PM
is it possible if private key can found with this vanity address generator?!?

That is the whole purpose of the program. It will provide you with a private key for an address with the pattern you provide.

If you are asking if it can find a private key for an entire specific address, then the answer is yes but it would take so long that there is no way you would be successful.
