401  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin also lead to corruption ? on: April 18, 2017, 11:18:37 AM
IMO, Bitcoin is an excellent tool for it, unfortunately. One of its goals is to give you more freedom, especially freedom from the banking system and government watch. These two things, as a "necessary evil" also acts as a restraint, keeping more difficult to trying to corrupt someone else or being corrupted. When you break this restraint, the field is now clear...

The money trail is just one aspect of corruption. While you might say that the banking system acts as a restraint, people could have easily side stepped this using gold. So you cannot conclude that the field is now clear, just because Bitcoin exists.

A battle between 2 bottom ranked teams today - Gujarat Lions vs RC Bangalore.
AB de Villiers is out with an injury and that is bad news for Bangalore. I would bet on the Gujarat Lions winning this one.
403  Economy / Economics / Re: Digital assets for "monthly" steady dividends on: April 18, 2017, 11:08:53 AM
There are many discussions about which coin is your favorite (mining included) and so on. However, not so many on actually which digital assets (which gives you frequent steady dividends) are the best to buy right now.

We all know altcoins price might go up and down, thus having a share or monthly dividend is also wise as passive income for example.

Given the fact that almost everyday a new digital asset is created, it would be quite interesting to know which digital asset (which pays steady dividends) you are currently supporting, for how long have you had it, and why are you supporting them.

This will greatly generate insights to new adopters, including regular traders as well as investors and help them get into the new possibilities of the booming digital asset investment.

Please feel free to share your experiences and intuitions on this thread

When you say steady dividends, what do you mean? There are some Proof of Stake coins, which pay out interest based on your current holdings.
But there is nothing similar to listed equities. I am not sure of the few companies listed on havelock pay out steady dividends.
404  Economy / Speculation / Re: My take on BU's long-term impact on the price of BTC on: April 18, 2017, 11:06:28 AM
It's a tie. Segwit has won on every department, but the hashrate is still blocked by a centralizing actor, which is ridiculous but that's how the system works.
UASF is an option, to attack this ridiculous centralization.

It is slightly bonkers that a handful of people can do this. Look at what Litecoin's getting up to with the prospect of Segwit and they don't have the slightest scaling problem either.

It just goes to show how little vision the average miner who isn't enjoying asicboost has.

That's why BTC will get segwit with either hashrate or UASF because what the people want, we didn't sign up for Jihan Coin where a single person gets to block everything else. So signal what users want or get UASF.

you got things all backwards, Jihan isn't a threat to bitcoin. Blockstream is.
SegWit is a poison pill to bitcoin, and I'm glad litecoin is being a good labrat (because that's all they're good for) and takes the poison pill for us.
maybe that will safe bitcoin.
but blockstream might just blame the death of litecoin on something else.

What is the worst thing which could go wrong with Litecoin implementing Segwit? Nothing.
It could only prove whether Segwit is scalable or not.
In the end, we need some method to increase the transaction capacity of Bitcoin.
405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin by Christmas 2018? (POLL) on: April 17, 2017, 01:48:20 AM
The majority seems to think Bitcoin will cross $2000 and so do I. There is strong resistance at these levels ($1200), but I think once these levels are crossed, we will have a bull rally. We can easily cross $2000 by Christmas time.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: April 17, 2017, 01:46:55 AM
Well, that was some serious over confidence shown by RCB, everyone know that they are a batting side and they lost the lowest total to win on their home ground, I don't think there is any chance of them qualifying to play offs if they continue the same. They are entertainers but not a good team I guess.
Ya it is true that even they are not able to chase 161, it really shows how weak they are just depending on the big players and other dont put any effort to win for the team. Pune showed good bowling attack and restricted RCB and won the match.
Virat was so upset with his team that he said his team did not deserve to win. Pune did have a good bowling attack but it was all because of RCB's poor batting that they won. Pune is not a stronger team than RCB but now with Virat being back, I hope RCB can again stand on their feet and chase down runs. However, Stokes played really well today but RCB and Pune, both need to back up and check on their weak points.
Even with a strong team on paper they are not able to win matches and i am sure everyone will be frustrated because a team filled with superstars cannot perform in sync and take the team to victory while the rest of the teams are performing really well, the team owners will be pissed because all their high valued players are not helping the cause either.

RCB's highly paid players disappointed again. They couldn't even chase down Pune's modest score of 161. Apart from Kohli and De Villiers, not even a single batsman crossed 20.
407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take profits now! on: April 16, 2017, 04:14:37 PM
Booking profit is for traders.
Most people here are long-term investors. Hold for the long term and then  liquidate slowly when the need arises.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: April 16, 2017, 04:13:10 PM
The match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions will be interesting. Mumbai lost both matches vs Gujarat last year.
Mumbai have decided to bowl first and their side should be strengthened by the return of Lasith Mallinga.
Even with Malinga on their side Mumbai Indians failed to stop Gujarat Lions from making a moderate 176/4. The last over was crucial by Bumrah. I think it'll not be a tough Target for the home side as their batting goes on till number 6-7.
Both teams lost their openers on a second ball duck,Dwayne Smith lost his wicket in his second ball he faced and Parthiv Patel lost his wicket in the second ball of the innings,Mumbai Indians does have a good batting line up but Gujarat Lions have a good bowling line up,hope this will be an interesting battle.

Mumbai managed to win this match pretty easily in the end. Pollard hit 3 massive sixers to score a quick fire 39.
Rana and Buttler set the platform; Rohit and Pollard finished off the match.
409  Economy / Speculation / Re: What effect will coming EU regulations have on bitcoin on: April 16, 2017, 10:20:59 AM
Means that we go down to 10 dollar or up to 10 million. Ooh wait bitcoin doesnt care about belgium lol. It only cares about scaling

Not really. This isn't about Belgium. This is about the whole of Europe.
And as we have seen from America to China. regulation does play a role in determining price. Badly drafted ones (Bit License) or a crackdown (like China) can result in the price dropping.
410  Economy / Economics / Re: NSA allegedly hacked global banking system SWIFT on: April 16, 2017, 10:18:23 AM
Hacker group Shadow Brokers has allegedly proved the US National Security Agency (NSA) hacked SWIFT international banking network. In documents and files released Friday, the group said it had evidence the NSA used SWIFT to “monitor money flows among some Middle Eastern and Latin American banks.” The news marks the second time Shadow Brokers has laid claim to compromising NSA secrets. In August 2016, the group said it had entered an agency affiliate and taken details of cyberweapons, which it planned to auction for one million bitcoins.

The US has plenty of muscle power and is not afraid to use it. Although SWIFT is a neutral, third party, the US might even be able to armtwist it into giving information. They needn't have gone to the extent of hacking it.

So finally Kings XI lost this game and Zaheer's plans worked well for his team. DD have good bowlers and batsmen and rarely they manage to work well as a team and today was one such day where they did well in both, the bowling and batting department. Punjab should start checking up on their team as this is their second back-to-back loss.
Now KKR and MI are at the top of the table. They appear to be the strongest among all teams.
It was a really interesting battle, even with a team of Amla ,Eoin Morgan, Miller and Maxwell could not do any magic,Delhi daredevils bowled really well to pick the wickets and put consistent pressure so that they cant score freely, looking at the performance KKR and MI are strong but anything can happen later in the tournament as there are strong teams with strong players in paper.

Who would have thought Sam Billings would play such a fine innings for Daredevils?
And their bowling was outstanding. Three of their bowlers went for less than six in a over. When you perform like that in a T20, your victory is assured.
413  Economy / Economics / Re: SHADOWBANK.BIZ - THE NEW CYBRECRIME FRAMEWORK - INVESTMENT IN CYBERCRIME on: April 16, 2017, 02:44:36 AM
Ha ha ha. A HYIP to fight HYIPs?
People must be daft to invest more money in HYIPs after losing money in HYIPs.
414  Economy / Speculation / Re: Critical Levels - EW analysis on: April 16, 2017, 02:42:44 AM
Very interesting writeup by Mr Gordon.
33k+/- 20% by 2020.
some values to ponder..maybe safest would be to start selling in increments at 26k to, hopefully, 40K.
I would be ecstatic to get $33K average around 2020.

I'd be Bill Gates rich. Not sure the powers that be would allow that.  Cheesy

Bill gates has a net worth of almost 80 BILLION dollars. Are you saying you got 2+ million BTC?

2+ million BTC won't help. In fact, all the bitcoins (and all the altcoins) in the world won't help.
The total market capitalization of Bitcoin is less than USD 20 Mn.
415  Economy / Economics / Re: FUD article from Bitcoin.com - The sky is falling!!! on: April 15, 2017, 12:36:20 PM
In the website's defence, they have to try and find reasons when there are none.
When it is a slow day in terms of actual crypto news, articles promoting FUD seem to be published.
416  Economy / Speculation / Re: What keeps Bitcoin price stable? on: April 15, 2017, 12:33:46 PM
I don't think the price is stable. Everyday at least a small variation will be felt on the price upwards or downwards. Stabilty seems to be the one at times to grow further staggers within few price tags. This is mentioned as stabilty, which is common with bitcoin and at times the market capital increase along with usage or circulation keeps it stable.
bitcoin prices are always changing. though not great, at least there will be an increase and decline. we can not say that bitcoin prices will not change. bitcoin price movement will always occur at any time during the bitcoin is still used by the people.

What matters is the quantum of change, not whether the price changes.
If the price changes by not more than 5% annually, we can conclude that Bitcoin's price has attained stability.

Today's match prediction of kkr vs srh
If kkr bowls first there is full chance of them winning the match as if you noticed all their wins till now are by chasing.
Dd vs KingsXI : Both teams look strong but as the match us being played in delhi there is a high chance of dd winning the match.
Dd vs kxi  @dd odds 1.82 stake 20$ return - 36.4
Kkr vs srh @kkr odds 1.8 , stake 40$ return - 72

Match started, SRH won the toss and opt to bat first, KKR lost the first wicket Sunil Narine got out for just 6 runs. Now the score is 32/1 5 overs completed. Betting on final result is a bit tough in this IPL series, because last over the result will change. So I prefer to play live betting. I think KKR will score more than 180 runs.

Pretty close. KKR scored 172 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to Uthappa and Manish Pandey. Those who came after these 2 couldn't really score quick runs in the slog overs. Hyderabad will find it tough to chase this down.
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: April 14, 2017, 11:16:05 AM
RCB have gotten off to a sedate start (by T20 standards) against Mumbai Indians. They have scored 62/0 in 9 overs.
They have the power to accelerate in the remaining overs and have wickets in hand.
419  Economy / Economics / Re: HSBC Bank Helped Terrorists, Iran, Drug Cartels & Russians Launder Money on: April 13, 2017, 11:57:00 PM
They will just pay a fine and move on. The problem is that with Bitcoin, there is nobody to fix responsibility. The government will see Bitcoin as something it can't control. No central figure to punish.
420  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: sell when others are irrationally optimistic or too exuberant on: April 13, 2017, 11:55:27 PM
So if you take a look at the speculation section, ignore a few trolls according to this damn rule you should always sell.
Usually the optimism sinks only after it is too late to sell and the cat is bouncing back again.

I will stick to the "opposite of adam" indicator.
Or to the "troll increase" alert.

Bitcointalk is a very biased indicator of the market.
Most people here have Bitcoin in their blood. You should start selling when every Tom, Dick and Harry outside of bitcointalk starts purchasing bitcoins.
