401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 25, 2019, 11:44:39 AM
My host came through for me, so credit for my S17 order that has not shipped yet (12/11-12/20 batch) was applied to my order and will ship from Malaysia with their bulk order. I just placed the order through my account choosing USD wire for payment method and then gave the order# to my host so he could have his Bitmain contact apply my credit and include with his order.

I placed this order last week and the order had actually expired yesterday because I did not upload proof of payment. This morning it was changed from expired to unshipped.

I'd guess that if anyone with credit from a pre-order places an order, chooses USD wire for payment, and then opens a support ticket requesting the credit be applied to the order it will eventually get done.

ahh yea i wont host anywhere. Most likely, their cost is higher than my own.

They're in the 7c to 7.5c per kwh range, at least for small #s of miners. You can run your #s to see if it's worth it to host there for 6 months to get the 25% discount the gear.

But it also seems like some normal orders off the web site for S17 pros shipped to the USA have been coming from Malaysia anyway. This would be a lot easier if they just had separate listings for gear made in Malaysia. I guess they just don't care about the small guy ordering a couple miners here and there. Need to be ordering 100s to get good support.

My decision was to either place the order myself shipped to another host I use in Canada and pay 5% tax, or try to use my credit + coupons through my USA host and pay the 2.6% on the gear from Malaysia. I didn't even think the 2nd option was possible until I gave up waiting on Bitmain to answer any of my support tickets and asked my host to ask his contact.

They'd require you to host with them and they'd probably require you to pay upfront. Here's the link to their website if you want to contact them.

https://www.valuehash.com

I've had gear hosted there for a few years and I'm pretty happy with them.

One month to process a refund?!?!!

I won't be surprised at all when BTC price mysteriously spikes right before everyone gets their refunds processed...

I'm trying to use my credit and most of my coupons to place an order through my host so it will be guaranteed to be shipped from Malaysia. My host says he has talked with his contact at Bitmain and the order will get placed today. Fingers crossed.
406  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 21, 2019, 12:23:38 PM
Did they ever say what BTC price they will use to refund you? Hopefully, they'll refund at the current price and not the price at the time of your order.

I've got 3 support tickets open and haven't had any response. I trying to find out if I can transfer the credit for a Dec. S17 order to my host who is doing a bulk order from Malaysia.

Did you hear back through a support ticket, or have you been just emailing directly?
407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 20, 2019, 10:43:20 AM
I got a $682 January 31 coupon yesterday and I have email pertaining to this.
Today it is gone, replaced by a $314 one.
There is a low chance I would have used the 682, so no biggie, yet the fact that they did this is a bit strange.
Developing.

Same for me. Looks like they screwed up and wanted to issue a total of $682 worth of coupons for the S17 pro 50T spot order, not an additional $682. The new $314 coupon plus the $368 coupon they issued earlier equals $682.
408  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 19, 2019, 02:34:14 AM
Not sure, but that's what it says in the details. #4 says "10% of the total order".

Anyone verify you can use a single coupon for more than one miner?

these are the "usage rules" for my $682 coupons that were just issued.

409  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 19, 2019, 02:26:32 AM
is there any way to get more than 159 USD with these almost 700 USD coupons?

I believe the limit is 10% of the total order, not per miner. So you just need to buy enough miners to hit 10X the coupon value.
410  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 19, 2019, 02:15:29 AM
I just received some $682 coupons. They seem to be from an S17 pro 50TH spot order, not credit for a pre-order.

I hope this answers your question since I couldn't really understand the  "language in the listing?" part , feel free to ask any other questions.

Yes, thanks for the clarification. I just didn't remember a pre-order for the S9k so I wanted to make sure we were all talking about the same thing.
412  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 18, 2019, 11:50:36 PM
@mikeywith, was your s9k order a "pre order" with the "Product Reference Price" and "Actual Transaction Price" language in the listing?
413  Economy / Digital goods / [WTB] Bitmain Coupons on: November 18, 2019, 11:30:44 AM
Looking to buy "Order Coupons" only through forum escrow.
414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 18, 2019, 10:56:55 AM
The language in the pre-order listings on the website does not mention refund as an option, so I'm not too surprised.

From the Dec.  S17 pre-order listing:

2. If the Actual Transaction Price of the product is lower than the Product Reference Price, the remaining amount will be generated in your account. You may use the remaining amount to purchase additional products at the Actual Transaction Price, or you may use the remaining amount to purchase other products shown on the website that are available for purchasing.

It looks like getting this credit applied is going to be a mess. They have no automated way of applying the credits, so you need to place a Paypal order, email them or open a support ticket, then wait for someone to manually apply it to your order.
415  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 18, 2019, 12:00:21 AM
I've got potential credit coming for a Dec. 11-21 pre-order batch order of S17s and some $386 coupons for S17pro purchases. I can order S17 Pros from Malaysia through my host. If I knew for sure that I'd be able to take the S17 credit as a BTC refund at BTC price when my order ships, I'd just order the Pros I'd be able to get with the credit + coupons tomorrow. Very annoying there is so much uncertainty. There is no mention of a refund option on the web listing for any of the pre-orders.
416  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: November 14, 2019, 11:51:03 AM
Also S17 Pro - 53 TH/s has been lowered from 1999$ to 1599$ so make of that what you wish, but I think new miners are on the way.

20%, that's another big drop. Another round of coupons on the way?

As for "new miners on the way", that seems about right. Drop the price to sell out all stock, then release something more efficient at the same $/TH. Then send out coupons to all the people they just screwed to entice them to throw more $ at them... hard to get out of the cycle once they drag you in.

5nm is still a long way off (probably post-halving), but I could see them releasing a final optimization of the 7nm to get a few % better efficiency to ride out the time until the halving and 5nm.
417  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any USA based people here have miners hosted in Canada? on: November 12, 2019, 10:38:47 PM
The first of the miners I ordered arrived last week in Canada and are now up and running. They were shipped directly to the host company (Cryptoboreas), who paid the import tax and billed me for it. The tax seems to be about 5%. It is not exact since it is billed in CAD so it depends on the exchange rate. The whole thing was pretty simple.

The invoice from the host did include a 13% HST tax for the hosting fee, but they discounted the hosting fee so the total was what they originally quoted me.

The host prefered payment by wire so I spent some time looking for the best way to wire to Canada. My bank charges $35 and gives pretty poor exchange rates. I checked rates at other banks and found them to be approximately the same. I found TransferWise.com, and am very happy with them so far. The site exchanges from USD to CAD at the actual exchange rate and charges very low fees. Total fees for this payment was only 0.59% including the exchange and wire fee. The transfer was completed the same day I initiated it. It also is very useful for wiring USD to other countries. The total cost to wire USD to China is under $5 vs. $45 with my normal bank.
418  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: November 12, 2019, 04:05:29 PM
yea how does that work when you pay for an order and then the price drops .

do you just pay for the order and then pay for the shipping/tax  ?

just waiting for my KYC account verification to finish, but i almost bought the s17+ from alibaba @2900, and now they are 2111.

You pay tax on whatever the invoice says. The shipper includes an invoice which is used to determine the value of the goods. For the pre-order batches, it seems that Bitmain is updating the invoices with the lower price so you would only pay the tariff on the lower price. If you do a "spot order" or "future order", the invoice will show the original amount you paid, and that will be used to determine what tariff amount you owe. It does not matter if units are selling for much less than you paid by the time it gets to customs clearance, it only matters what is on the invoice.
419  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: November 08, 2019, 01:50:49 PM
I would like to see what they do with that promised credit.

I did jump in and spend my 1x 683 coupon  I got 600 of it off on the s17 pro 53th  so 1399 + 119 to ship = 1518  we will see if it is a built in Malaysia model  which would save me some trump tax.

Well, I'm going to wait and find out. I'm not ready to invest any more right now, but between credit (as it stands now) and coupons, I should be able to get a miner in Dec with $0 out of pocket. Now I'm hoping BTC price just stays at $9k until Jan...
420  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: November 08, 2019, 01:27:42 PM
I think they'll only give the credit when/after miners ship. The pre sale listings say that the "Actual Transaction Price" is set before delivery. I'd guess they might adjust the price again if there are any big moves before Dec.

I'm in the same boat, I have credit coming for S17s shipping in Dec. and just received coupons for S17 pros that were purchased and shipped last month.
