Spexx, can you pls add official PoM pool https://pom.m-hash.com into "Sweet Spot Miner".

Ty

That one belongs to NeedIfFindIt.

More from me in a bit.

Oh, I see - thought it was yours Smiley

Spexx, I can almost see that infinite number of monkeys with an abacus and coming up with the entire works of Shakespeare :-)
Correct me if I am wrong, but keeping your wallet open and staking also helps against people with bad-51-intentions?
Currently 68% of coin extraction is of Proof of Stake ( see https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/#!extraction ), so many of us are staking.
The largest wallets have only near 6% of coins total.
The staking is a very good defense isn't it?

Can someone please explain me the PoS thing in simple words? I read a couple of articles but I don't really seem to understand it. In simple words, if I leave my wallet running will I earn more XMG?

Yep, exactly.

Do they just appear in your wallet? How much? How can I calculate it?

You need to have some coins in the wallet in order to get stake.

Also every time you got a stake your input(s) split in two. So once a month you need to send the coins to the same address otherwise you will end-up with almost unspendable dust in 6-12 months.

To get a daily stake I suggest you having 500~1000 XMG in one address. There will be 2-3 days pause every time you touch coins at this address.

If you have more coins I would suggest splitting into multiple addresses 1000 XMG/address (enabling coin control). That way if you decide to spend some of your coins you will not have to wait the 2-3 days to get the first stake.

I think the interest rate is up to 2% per year. Just enough to make you keep the wallet on 24/7, but not enough to cause inflation.

Hello All,

1. Got new version of Sweet Spot
http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9.zip (includes 2 of the best Magi Miners - could be detected as "Having BitCoin Miners" by your antivirus software)
http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9-bare.zip (no miners included, you can put your own miners in separate folders where the sweetspot.exe is)
http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9-source.zip (source)

I really like the sweetspot tool but I was wondering if NeedIfFindIt (or Spexx or someone else) can add a feature to start mining a different coin than XMG when rewards are too low.
Now the miner slows down to 10% but I don't want my CPU to go idle, I would rather have it do some different work on another coin.
Anyone feel like adding this feature? Smiley
Hmm don't know what to say about this.
Ask our teammembers in the Magi thread to build things for other coins. Best thing to say that i'am proud of the Magi community and our teammembers.
 Smiley
Its great to see that their work is also appreciated by other coins!  Hope they pay the rewards in XMG! Wink

They don't really have to build stuff for other coins but just include the option of running a command line string to start another miner when XMG profitability is too low to mine XMG. (and of course stop it when the XMG miner will be started again).
My CPU is running 24/7 anyway and I don't want any time to be wasted on idle time.

No plans from me to extend the SweetSpot in this direction.

But if you are using the PC only for mining then.

1. Start SweetSpot.
2. Start the magi miner.
3. Go to your windows task manager.
4. Change the priority of minerd.exe from LOW to NORMAL.
5. Make sure the other miner is not called minerd.exe (rename if needed) otherwise sweetspot will try to control it too.
6. Start the other miner.
7. Go to your windows task manager.
8. Make the other miner priority LOW.

Hope you got the idea  Wink

Hi all,

My first post in this thread.
After reading this forum a bit, I must say to be very impressed and I am considering to buy some coins.
But I have some a question left. At the moment we are at 2,1M coins and total supply will be 25M, but I couldn't find the graph, were I can see how many coins there will be in a year from now for instance.
Has anyone a link?

Thank you

Welcome to the Magi community.

Because the block reward changes with the network hashrate there is no way to predict the total coins mined.

In theory the daily new coins mined could be between 0 and 24000.

In practice there are about 2000~3000 XMG mined daily. Which makes 2500*365=912500 XMG/Year.

While I am on here ...

Does anybody here know how to get Suprnova JSON pool stats downloaded into a file?

I can view them online using the URL and my API key, whether I am logged on or not, but can't grab them using wget.exe or curl.exe and the same URL/API key. I can do it with all the other pools - only Suprnova gives me a problem with the SSL connection. I tried contacting them but no reply despite a reminder, so I am a bit stuck on a bit of software development right now. Probably a good time to go have a beer Wink

I suppose their SSL is limited to not go lower than TLS1.2. Wget does not support TLS1.2 and older versions of CURL does not support it either.

Try:
Get CURL from here:
http://www.paehl.com/open_source/?CURL_7.41.0
CURL 7.41.0->Download WITH SUPPORT SSL

and try:
curl.exe -k https://xmg.suprnova.cc/index.php -o abc.txt

Have fun  Wink

If you are curious why there is no setting between 50% and 100% the reason is that pausing and unpausing threads of another app is a CPU hungry process. Additionally pushing the CPU UP and DOWN few times a second is killing the smoothness of work and also the system power usage is almost the same as running at 100%.
So let me assume at 80% you get:
- almost same power consumption as running at 100%
- almost same heat created as running at 100%
- less hashrate compared to running at 100%
- choppy working windows (compared to running at 100%)
Maybe in the future I'll find better way to do it if possible at all.

2. Since I got few tips for the Sweet Spot I decided to spread the magic further creating Magi Faucet.

http://magi.steep.rocks/

There is a threshold, I'll try to send the coins within 24/48 hours since I don't keep them on the server.

Don't kill me if I fail or delay a payment ...it is still in a "testing stage" and I'm really busy sometimes Tongue

Just donated some coins for your XMG faucet!

Thanks! Chances for higher reward improved!

Thanks NeedIfFindIt!
And Is there anyway to set the proxy parameter?
And... What is a Magi Faucet? Im new, im currious  Huh Huh

I have a feeling that the feature will be added if it is not there already. Maybe something in the settings.ini file? Just guessing Wink

A short time ago, to me a faucet was the American word for what we English call a tap i.e. something to get water from. Now I know it to be a website where you can visit every so often and obtain a tiny amount of cryptocurrency absolutely free, if you are prepared to jump through a few hoops and suffer a bit of adf.ly or similar advertising rotator. You can donate to the faucet too. It took me a while to "get" the idea, but now I see it.

Maybe I'll add extra params field shortly (If I find enough space)  Grin

Until then you can put the params in the password field:  -x IP:port

so for http proxy it becomes:
Code:
password -x IP:port
or
Code:
password -x http://IP:port
(I'm not sure, can't test.)

Socks 4/5 proxy:
Code:
password -x socks4://IP:port

password -x socks5://IP:port
Hope you got the idea Wink

It will take few weeks before the next version. I'll have to spend some time with my Watt meter. Thanks for the ideas Spexx.

---

Lol, no adfly, popups etc. in my faucet. Just little fun, captcha and 2 ads to partially cover the running costs. I'm not even blocking the adblockers for the next 3-4 days.

when we can get 1 magi = $100  Grin

This is just not going to happen.

Since coin Magi does not promote the insane wasting of energy other coins do (for example bitcoin network wasting over 1GWh/h making energy companies rich while leaving the miners with almost nothing or less than nothing).
1GWh at $0.10 per KWh = $100000/h
having 6*25btc/block=150btc/h
$100000/150btc=$666 USD/BTC (real cost to mine 1 BTC with ~1 year old ASIC if the power cost was $0.10)

Coin Magi will never use more than 40KWh/h the block reward drops to near zero at hashrate above 60Mh/s. And the average power consumption is about 0.6W/Kh.

This simply mean nobody will pay $100 if he can mine cheaper.

This was the bad news.

The good news are result from the bad news.

Once the initial dumping is over there will be no pumps and dumps in the long term. The Magi price should stabilize somewhere little bit above the energy cost (at current BTC price it should be between 5000 and 20000 satoshi). But the BTC will probably drop in the long term.

Overall CoinMagi can be considered as good as gold (or at least as stable as gold).

I personally prefer to store my little crypto "wealth" in Magi instead of BTC, especially when I can benefit from the latest dumps  Wink

Don't ask why it adds 1 minute. There is a bug in FB script nobody has discovered yet Wink

Code:
until: '+'+(minutes*60+61)-60+'s',

Can't you just do someth8ing like that to fix it?

I think we should ask the admin of why this is Happenning ??
He should solve this

I didn't check that, but I believe that it rounds up the remaining time up to whole minutes. So if there're 5 minutes and 1 second left, it'll show that there're 6 minutes left.

If you set it up to 2 minutes you will have to wait whole 3 minutes between dispenses.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: March 19, 2015, 08:04:32 PM
I've got this problem. I stacked but on one of my stakes, it's written "0 of 6 confirmations. Generated but not accepted." This stake has been generated at 10:05 (a.m.), now it's 20:08 (8 p.m.). Two stacks has been made after this one. Those two ARE confirmated. Where's the problem ?

That's an orphan block; it was generated but not accepted by the network. It could happen sometime, but when it will happen is unpredictable.

Too bad...

No worry, you are not alone. With about 6k coins I get orphans once or twice a day on average  Roll Eyes

This is not the issue. This is the workaround not to get the javascript reload 1 minute before the timer really expires.

The issue is in the main index.php between MySQL, PHP and the rounding to the nearest minute.

anyone elses timer not going down?

Everything working for My bitcoin Faucet. Not sure about other coins
Oh I think you need to code it in. Anyone got code to make timer go down in real time? Will give $5 btc-e voucher
this still stands btw, $5 btc-e code/bitcoin for countdown timer code. PM me it or even post it here to get it.

If you like the one here: http://lol.steep.rocks/ (don't forget to refresh after you get a dispense)
( This is based on http://keith-wood.name/countdown.html )

Backup your website.

Download: http://lol.steep.rocks/countdown/countdown-js.zip
it is just one file

Unpack so the file inside becomes accessible as http://example.com/js/jquery.plugin.countdown.min.js

Open your template index.php file with Notepad++. This is not the file in the main folder. It is in /templates/***/index.php

Find:
Code:
</head>

Add before:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="//cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.plugin.countdown.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function(){
  var minutes=$('#id_timer').html().match(/You have to wait (\d+) minute/);
  minutes=parseInt(minutes[1]);
  $('#id_timer').countdown({
    until: '+'+(minutes*60+61)+'s',
    layout: 'You have to wait {hnn}{sep}{mnn}{sep}{snn}',
    //layout: '{hnn} hours {mnn} minutes {snn} seconds',
    onExpiry: function () {
      //location.reload();
    }
  });
});
</script>

Find:
Code:
You have to wait

In the element add:
Code:
id="id_timer"

So if it is:
Code:
<p>You have to wait...

It will become:
Code:
<p id="id_timer">You have to wait...

Test it.

Anyway, I don't believe anybody will waste his time to cheat 4~5 step faucet to get average ~300 satoshi per captcha  Shocked

I believe it depends on the captcha Smiley. Allegedly there are bots for SolveMedia and Are you a Human captchas, so that plus broken timer means that cheating can be fully automated and that would be quite profitable.

I'm often spitting random JS code to be solved by the browser to detect the bots that know nothing about JS. But I'm not blocking ... just logging ... at the end I have nice list IPs, addresses and the method of abuse. Ofc this does not help for the JS capable ones.

The deal is not to stay with the "default" faucet script. Even adding one little extra custom protection will add extra hour for the abuser to change his bot (or he will move to the next unprotected one).

Anyway I don't see difference between "before" and "after" I stopped the direct access ... so probably I was the lucky one.

But I have another issue. Sometimes (when under heavy load) FaucetBox (CloudFlare) returns 522 (timeout) but actually sends the amount. Sometimes it returns 522 and does not send the amount. Since in this situation I'm not deduction the amount a user having 10000 satoshi could wait when FaucetBox become sluggish (this happens 5-10 times a day for 2-3 minutes) and try to cashout multiple times taking 20~100k.

I suppose I'll have to disable the cashout for 5 minutes for all users once I get error.
416  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] FaucetBOX.com - API & faucet script, create your own crypto faucet on: March 09, 2015, 11:27:48 PM
I'm using custom script and have no issues with CloudFlare (free plan). Maybe the only thing I can't detect are the socks proxies.

I must say that I didn't really check thoroughly, but I see that it's possible to bypass CloudFlare and connect to your server directly and it responds with your faucet. That possibly means that one can simply connect directly to your server, spoof the CF-Connecting-IP header and bypass your timer without using any proxies. Unless you're checking whether the real socket-level connecting ip address (aka REMOTE_ADDR in PHP) matches CloudFlare and only use CF-Connecting-IP then. I recommend you double-checking that Smiley

Nice point. Thanks for the advice. Direct access is now blocked.

@NeedIfFindIt - many thanks for the fix

I have Cloudflare disabled on my cpanel because I experienced some errors in he past (like "resource limit exceeded").
I will re-enable it to see if I get that error again.
Note: Cloudflare I'm getting is the "lite" version. Do I need to apply for a paid subscription ?

Don't use CloudFlare for a faucet if you don't know what you're doing. You'll end up either with a timer shared between many users or users bypassing your timer entirely.

True if you don't know what you are doing (actually MF script is able to detect CF but I'm not sure it is bug free).

Plan B is enabling CloudFlare only for a sub-domain and loading the resources from there while the php script is accessed directly (but it is LOL for newbie).

I'm using custom script and have no issues with CloudFlare (free plan). Maybe the only thing I can't detect are the socks proxies.

I know this may not be the place for technical support, but I see there are many faucet admins watching this topic and may suggest some tips.

I am the admin of bitprepay.net and for some time now I see on my cPanel that I hit over 20 Entry Processes (which is the limit), daily. Currently I am hosted on Namecheap (Shared Plan). I mainly chose NC because they accept bitcoins, but I would reconsider for a better host soon.

What would you guys recommend , taking into consideration that my site gets >20k pageviews daily (and ~10k uniques)?
I want a reliable and quick webhosting.

Someone recommended me to buy a VPS for this. What do you guys think?

By 20 Entry Processes you mean simultaneous connections?

- If you know HTML/JS/CSS you can try combining both JS files into one. And both CSS files into one. Or at least load the jquery from google (or other) CDN.

- then make the img/themes/js/css folders cache for a ~week.
Make a .htaccess with:
Code:
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access plus 604800 seconds"
ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 604800 seconds"

Header unset ETag
FileETag None
and put it in all of the folders img/themes/js/css (if you already have .htaccess there then just merge).
Check if it works (In some cases you may be getting 500 Internal Server error).
DON'T put it in the main folder.

- then use cloudflare. In combination with the caching you will be able to survive at least 2X the current load.

Finally the main thing is not to forget that the resources are being cached. Don't loose a day in debugging why you upload one image ... and you still see the old one. CTRL+F5 will ignore the browser cache but it will not cause the cloudflare to send you the new image  Tongue

Generally that's all that could be done without paying extra $$$.
419  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] FaucetBOX.com - API & faucet script, create your own crypto faucet on: March 01, 2015, 10:21:08 PM
Hmmmm... What if next to the payout threshold box will be a PIN Code installation button which you can only press once to set a password. When changing the threshold you will need to enter that PIN Code.

That's one of the ideas we have. However what about people that didn't set their PIN? Someone evil could set a PIN and then the real owner wouldn't be able to payout at all. The only way they could prove they're the owner then would be signing a message using an address, but most people have no idea how to do that (and some people use exchange addresses, where they don't have access to the private key).

I believe that the only sane way is signing messages from the very beginning. That way only real address owner can change the threshold. If the owner can't sign a message, they'll be stuck with the default lowest-possible threshold (which isn't that bad, at least they'll get the coins).

Make it that way:
- everybody is able to change the value without pin or password (like it is now) BUT
- if he decides to change the value providing a signed message then require a signed message if he wants to change the value in the future.

This is both Safe and Painless (at least for the users Grin).

Little warm up

Formal launch: March 6, 12:00 PM Friday noon EST time.

I know we're very late; it's been a long waiting. I know you guys have waited for this again and again, I know, I know, the time I can invest into is rather limited especially most recently.

How does it work

  • A merchant creates an account at m-epays.com after successful registration one can create a payment box.
  • m-epays.com issues MagiPay account details.
  • Integrate MagiPay to merchant's website.
  • Customer clicks the 'Pay with magi' button, MagiPay connects to m-epays.com server and requests for a specific payment box.
  • m-epays.com issues a MagiPay address and the total amount to be paid.
  • Customer sends coins to the MagiPay address.
  • Once the payment is received and confirmed, the server informs the successful payment.
  • Upon confirmation of the payment, the server automatically transfer the amount of magi to merchant's registered external wallet address.

Merchant Banner

Merchant tools

We're still looking into the WooCommerce wordpress option for easy integration, hopefully available at the launch. The following method is available for now by integrating php codes: https://github.com/magi-project/magipay-merchant

1. Register on https://www.m-epays.com;

2. Create payment box once login;
