401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 08, 2024, 07:16:41 PM
Poor people should NOT being gambling in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.  The sad thing is I'd be willing to bet that the majority of lottery players and scratch off ticket players are those whom are living in poverty of at least below the "middle class" line.  It's the same type of thing when I see people taking their change to Coinstar machines (which give you bank notes in exchange for your change, but are charged a fee...something a bank would do for free), it's typically those with less means and sadly often less education.

The chances of changing your fortune via gambling and the lottery are highly against you...so putting money towards trying to strike gold in a barren wasteland is simply not smart.
402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever introduced an elder gambler to online betting? on: February 08, 2024, 07:13:05 PM
I can hardly even get my friends to try and understand the advantage of online gambling in combination with using bitcoin, I can't imagine trying to teach my mom or my grandmother how to bet online.  Now they are two completely not tech-savvy people but even still.  I also feel like a lot of the older folk enjoy gambling for the atmosphere that being in person brings, just as much as the actual gambling itself.  So, not sure how many would like to adopt online vs in-person.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 08, 2024, 07:10:43 PM
Lot's of crazy prop bets for Taylor like what color shirt will she be wearing, if she'll be shown on TV eating a hotdog or not, etc lol.

What kind of odds can I get she wears a pink shirt while eating a hot dog? How about 8:1?

Here's some other good ones I see:

 - Length of ‘America the Beautiful’ by Post Malone
 - Reba McEntire Primary Color of Boots
 - Who will be seen first during National Anthem: Swift, Kelce, or Both (split screen/together)

I forgot that there are degens outside of crypto as well. Because that is some hardcore degen shit.

Line remains firmly at SF -2. However, everyone I know and their granny thinks the Chiefs are gonna win. Actually seems like a no-brainer, but maybe the script will play out differently. Taking Chiefs ML today.

Lulz, I would image you'd get a real nice payout if there was a prop for wearing a pink shirt AND eating a hot dog.  Imagine if they threw like a hot dog with Ketchup only in there...some serious degen shit there!

When I first saw the lines open up it was at 2.5.   Even though I THINK I'd rather see the Niners win, I feel like the Chiefs are going to take it down.  Now of course since I plan to bet on them, they'll lose lol.

I'll probably do a combo of ML and +2 on the Chiefs plus some other props (outside of Taylor Swift stuff lol)
404  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTB- Chinese Digital Yuan Card on: February 08, 2024, 05:06:23 AM
Finally got my hands on them! I have an unopened set with your name on it ChiBitCTy. They are unloaded, though it appears possible to buy them loaded (50 RMB for an unloaded single, 250 RMB for an unloaded gift box of the five pictured, 750 RMB for a loaded gift box with 100 RMB on each card). The cards link to the e-CNY app on iOS and I assume Android. You tap via NFC to connect it to the app and then you need to load it from a Chinese bank account. I was able to load mine, but without a Chinese National ID, I have daily spending limits and load limits for an "anonymous" card.

Man so cool !!  DM sent. Will make a great addition to my collection! Smiley

Rare buggers you got here! I’ve got S1, been looking for S2 for quite some time. If you ever decide to sell separately let me know.

Cheers
406  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor people need solution now on: February 07, 2024, 05:14:15 PM
The biggest solution for those whom are poor, live below the normal comfortable standards of living etc would be solved or at least for many nations would be solved if we stopped going to freakin war!  That would solve a lot of issues with this world.

On the other hand, people need to be educated better of the special resources available for those whom are in need. I know here in the US that's a major issue, poor people just often don't know what's available in terms of help and how to seek it.
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong Moves With Your Bitcoin on: February 07, 2024, 05:12:17 PM
Well for those who've been around long enough, I think it's important for those whom haven't to understand what we've been though.  There was and still isn't a guarantee that bitcoin is going to blast off and continue with its climb up north.  So for many of us, selling our bitcoin when we've been up a few thousand percentage points, not knowing what the future holds, you can't really blame yourself.

Same thing goes with Laszlo and his 10k btc pizza.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 07, 2024, 05:10:23 PM
Is Taylor Swift a Pentagon asset?

Oh no, you've done it now. Black helicopters incoming. It was nice knowing you. I have no idea who this person or anyone in this thread is.

Lulz.  Right wing media taking things a bit far when it comes to taylor swift, travis kelce and this who pentagon asset nonsense.

Honestly as annoying as this all is, it's not her fault at all.  It's completely the media and the NFL's doing and I think she's really starting to get sick of it all.  Well, I think she's been sick of it all for some time.

Lot's of crazy prop bets for Taylor like what color shirt will she be wearing, if she'll be shown on TV eating a hotdog or not, etc lol.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 05:08:09 PM
This sort of topic comes up all the time here on this board and it's really the same discussion answer across the board with these types of topics.  Anyone who's addicted to gambling should seek help so that it never gets as far as you're actually willing to sell your property just to keep your gambling addiction alive.  What's next, robbing people?  Seek help for sure!
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Provably Fair- How Can You Know? on: February 07, 2024, 05:06:40 PM
I appreciate everyone's responses here.  I haven't had time to go through all of them yet, but the few that I have, have helped me to be able to understand things a little better.

Are you asking how do you know if the casino isn't cheating you? Like giving you salted seeds? Or are you wondering how to check a games results? If it's the latter there are verifiers out there, 1 was provided for you. If you are asking the 1st question, I would like to know that myself.

Yeah exactly, I'm wondering how it can ( or can't ) be proven if the Casino is cheating you or not.  It feels like they have been lately, hence why I've asked this question lol
411  Economy / Economics / Re: People keep talking how weak dollar and how bad usa economy getting on: February 06, 2024, 04:22:51 PM
As an American I want to first state that I'm not your typical American who thinks "USA is number one!!"...I more so see myself as a citizen of the world, and I do NOT think the United States is the best country in the world, not by a long shot.  That said the US does have the best economy in the world HANDS DOWN.  What other currency is back by such a strong nation that could take over the US dollar as the worlds reserve currency?  China with their shady communist ways and the Yuan?  Russia and their dictatorship ways with the Ruble?  Nah.  There's a reason the US has so much debt from other nations..because it's the most trusted debt in the world.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Psychology of Investing in Bitcoin on: February 06, 2024, 04:19:18 PM
Well Hello from the other side ~

Ever felt that rush when Bitcoin hits a new high? Or the sinking feeling when it takes a nosedive? Let's talk about the rollercoaster ride that is Bitcoin investing. Are we in it for the tech, the profits, or just the thrill? Whether you're a HODLer for life or a day-trading.Let's dissect the highs, the lows, and everything in between. After all, the Bitcoin market isn't just about charts and numbers.

What are your thoughts on this ~ Let's discuss

"Hello from the other side" ..have you passed away or ? In all seriousness this is a decent topic and there's on main thing I'd like to add.  Everyone needs to keep in mind that bitcoin is inherently NOT an investment.  It's a currency, and I wish more people saw it that way.  To me, and I know there's plenty that disagree, but to me bitcoin will only succeed if it become an easier and cheaper to use form of money.  That's just me, and I do feel pretty strongly about that.

Has it become an investment just like all currencies are, yes..but make sure to keep this all in mind when "investing" in bitcoin.  I do wish more people cared about it's tech and why it was created.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Provably Fair- How Can You Know? on: February 06, 2024, 04:15:30 PM
So I've been playing a little bit of roulette on a couple different gambling sites online.  I've been throwing a few satoshis on playing Poker (Texas Hold'Em) here and there as well.  Mainly focusing on Roulette, how can I be sure that the site is provably fair? I've heard this term used before by gambling buddies on here, but I've near really learned how you can know or find out if a sites games are "provably fair"?
414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 06, 2024, 04:11:40 PM
I think you could consider gambling an investment if you know what you're doing to at least some extent.  If you have no idea what you're doing, I would probably classify it in the same realm as like buying a lotto ticket.  I'm not sure I would consider that investing.  I mean for me, betting on NFL games is really not all that much different than taking a gamble on individual stocks.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 06, 2024, 04:07:59 PM

I’m glad it was a disaster. I’m embarrassed to admit it but I got malware’d trying to find a damn stream. I ended up getting malwarebytes pro from a buddy so it kinda worked out lol.

NoScript and Ublock Origins are a must even if your not hitting up pirate sites..

I use a Linux VM for those types of things, it isolates my main OS from any shenanigans.  I started to look for a pirate stream for that game, and decided it wasn't worth the trouble since I had other things to do.

VM and Live cds(thumb drives these days) are great for this kind of shit.

PM me if you need a link in the future, I can usually drum one up pretty quick and used to post them.

Problem with posting in an open forum though is it gets them scraped and targeted.

I have no idea what any of that means so I will definitely be reaching out to you on like Discord (probably easier to chat that way than on here).  I really appreciate it!

This whole season I used a service that offers a NFL plan, payable only via a modest amount of BTC (they accept no other form of payment, not even Dogecoin, lol), and it worked extremely well. Even for the Peacock wildcard game -- it was 100% glitch-free. For the reasons Heuristics explained, I am hesitant to share it here b/c I'd like to use it again next year, but feel free to PM me and I'll send you the details.

There's usually one or two free streaming services out there, but yeah they do change URLs a lot, and are sub-par quality compared to the one I used.

I've heard of stuff like this.  See I'm all good otherwsie.  I pay a billion dollars a month for YouTube TV..okay more like 90..which is insane since the whole cord cutting thing (getting rid of cable) was supposed to be a big money saver.  Then if you want "4k" which is not real 4k BUT does look SO much better, you've got to pay 15/mo and only Fox offers "4K" games in the playoffs.  So this was the only game I needed help with all year.  Even Thursday night I can stream from Twitch since the past two years the Amazon Prime games have been payed on there by Amazon..I doubt this continue to last but we will see.
416  Economy / Reputation / Re: To Leo and all who support Privacy & the original purpose of Bitcoin. Thank you on: February 05, 2024, 12:22:11 PM
I just came across Leo’s thread and am just in a way I can’t explain. I didn’t know Leo, but I know our paths crossed a multitude of times. Largely just remembering him by his unique user name and someone who’d randomly show up on threads I was involved with and always adding a positive contribution in some shape or form.

Incredibly saddened. I sent Leo a PM to thank him and bid well wishes, I just feel terrible having just now seen the thread and not being able to comment since it’s now locked. He may never see my PM or comment but I know he understands how much he meant to many here.

Farewell Leo, whatever’s after this I hope our paths cross again one day.

Some interesting prop bets in this Sportsbet Super Bowl contest:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5484002.0

The few that pertain to Taylor Swift are anybody's guess. Also it was the first time I ever sought to know the average length of the National Anthem in a Super Bowl. Perhaps the funniest one is the last: what color will the Gatorade be that gets dumped on a coach's head. Seems like the Chiefs would have red gatorade (I'm leaning toward them ATM), and then maybe the Niners would have red gatorade as well.

Gatorade is always a popular prop. That's a dangerous bet I feel like it’s always the one the least amount of money was put on. No conspiracies it’s just tough one.

I make my biggest bet of the year for the SB and I’m never confident. Niners are a better team overall hands down, but KC is legit all around plus they got that 1 QB which makes a bit of a difference. Might was well flip a quarter.

Lulz, I gotta stop smoking so much while listing my auctions. So unfortunately no, this will not be the longest auction in forum history  Cheesy

Hi bid:

420  Economy / Economics / Re: Quitting Smoking Has Two Big Benefits. on: February 05, 2024, 02:01:11 AM
Making smart decisions like this can go a long way for peoples financial and economic situations.  I have never been a smoker, sure I've had them many times, but it's probably been 10 years or so since I've even taken a drag.  I was in the gas station the other day and just blown away by how expensive they were.  So good on you for making positive changes in your life like this.
