401  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are declining stock markets good or bad for Bitcoin? on: July 04, 2017, 06:32:26 PM
In the past few days many stock markets have fallen worldwide. There are many voices that expecting a strong correction and a coming bear market. I wonder if falling stock markets are good or bad for Bitcoin. Normally, money that is no longer invested in stocks is to flow into other assets. Bitcoin with its rapid rise would certainly be attractive. What do you think?

This is such a  great question i am turning my response into an article.  So here is the rough draft. (Completely inspired by your topic )

There have been numerous times when cryptocurrecy took an opposite plunge or spike when compared to Wall Street, but wall st seems more unpredictable.   Bitcoin has been stronger and more steady upward than gold even.  Oddly, perhaps because it is decentralized, bitcoins ups and downs seem surprisingly independent from and unaffected by the stock market fluctuations.
Patterns appear and fade but there isn't yet a constant comparison which is actually refreshing.

When real estate crashed earlier this decade it felt as if it was directly responding to banking measures, and the stock market surges and bursts.   Then real estate came  back  and still is on its way up but it is a generic nudge that moved it first, at the hand of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  When one thing is tugging the other pushes away there is no harmony, and at the risk of sounding paranoid it may be intentional.   It's like all of these measurements of our wealth -our homes, our traditional bank accounts, our stocks and bonds, out mortgages, all of these things seem to always be out of proper orbit somehow.  It's as if one part must be counteracting the other and it's a constant wobble, from over correction, like a washing machine with all the clothes on one side. Each measurement of our wealth depends on the others to exist and we, the very owners of the so called wealth have almost NO control over the course of the life of our own dollar.   Bitcoin, in a much more spherical, smooth orbiting system is not centralized and is cannot be thrown off by the prod of a government subsidized mortgage insurer, thank the Heavens.
Hope it makes sense.  Cheers !
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: July 04, 2017, 07:22:12 AM

Tokens are expected to be distributed next week. Exchanges are expected to list Civic shortly after that.

Hopefully those who can wait ... will wait.
Just a little bit of holding will see profits in a very satisfying amount.
I would absolutely hold on as long as you can manage.
Cheers to wealth of the near future.

I know I'm a Bitcointalk.org user when....

......I leave notes for my family on the countertop written in bbcode.

......I revisit and reply to a topic just to get it bumped back into the spotlight because it is too good to allow it to be lost in the sea of inferior posts.

Funny!

Ok here's another one :
You might be a bitcointalk user if ..... your favorite topic gets moved to off topic, and you feel like it's unjust. Lol.

408  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you give bitcoin as a wedding gift? on: June 30, 2017, 09:17:03 AM
It is such a great idea, and for those who receive coins as a little token of future well wishes, will someday have a reallly nice "nest egg".  A small fortune will some day become a substantial wealth, in. Bitcoin.

What better way to secure some future riches than to give Bitcoin to the newlyweds.   Cool idea!   Wink

If you type the words "kill switch for wannacry ransomware" into google, you will find the repair command.  It is now public knowledge, hope this helps!
Good luck.
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why altcoin price down during this week? What are the reason? on: June 30, 2017, 08:44:27 AM
Why altcoin price down during this week? What are the reason? Huh Huh Huh
The main reason of the down in the price is not a single factor .
Here I have three different different reasons that why the price of the altcoins goes down in.the week .
1) The ico attracted the people more , so few of the Bitcoiner sold the altcoin and invested in the ico , results into down price .
2) Increase in the price of the Bitcoin , so to complete the demand of the Bitcoin they sold the altcoins .
3) The big movement of the Bitcoin legalisation is going on in the whole world , currently many of the countries the new new news are coming and saying that Bitcoin will legalise soon , this made the increase in the demand of btc and many of the people bought Bitcoin .
So to go behind the Bitcoin and increase in demand made the down of the investment in the cryptocurremcy market mainly for the altcoins .

This reply covers the bases pretty well.  I think the upcoming fork has lots of strong, big balance btc holders a little spooked.  Which seems to be having a mixed and somewhat unpredictable affects on alt coins.  Things will smooth out in August.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WAVES on: June 30, 2017, 08:28:52 AM
 ✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟

great article/ insight Lorilikes
cheers , i like the long term outlook for Waves imo

🦋✨🌟Thank you! Always good to share valuable information!🌟✨🦋

Waves is still under development ... but still allow to trade really fast for a decentralized exchange.
In few weeks the new UI will be released and this will be huge: http://etherdesign.io/project/dex

The DEX is very young, the volume will come slowly when peoples understand that:
  • You can trade straight after receiving your ICO tokens
  • All your funds are safe because they are still on your wallet
  • It's trading almost fast as a centralized exchange

🦋✨🦋✨Very attractive features indeed.  This project is sure to succeed! ✨🦋✨🦋
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2017, 08:09:42 AM
The thing that really strikes the temptation button in the mind of a criminal is the idea that they can be hidden in cryptography, safely veiled (they think) from law enforcement etc.  So it isn't truly BITCOIN creating crime, it's just than criminal - minded people like to hide.   Roll Eyes

Since I see a lot of repeated questions I thought it would be helpful to share the first recommended reading material, for anyone dabbling in Civic.
I am linking the whitepaper here, copied from the main, original post in this thread.  If you haven't yet read the Civic whitepaper, I highly recommend it.
 https://tokensale.civic.com/whitepaper
This is projected to be a major player on the field with almost certain profits.  Cheers, happy investing (after educating yourself via the reading.).

414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WAVES on: June 30, 2017, 06:45:48 AM
Here is a really important, must-read white paper by Sasha Ivanov please check it out.

https://wavesplatform.com/files/whitepaper_v0.pdf

In the white papers opening pages, Ivanov explains
"We propose to focus on other uses of blockchain tokens – those which are often overlooked in favor of the low-level opportunities which blockchain technology might provide, such as smart contracts. There is very strong untapped potential in a classical colored coins approach, and the WAVES platform is designed to realize this to its fullest extent.
Smart contracts, being a natural development of Bitcoin scripting, are inevitable and will be one of the cornerstones of blockchain technology. On the other hand, certain features are much easier to implement using other approaches. Custom tokens operations realized as an attachment to blockchain transactions are very flexible and can be used in a variety of applications, from national currencies transfer over the blockchain to decentralized trading. A focus on such operations might well complement the approach introduced by Ethereum. [1]
In the following sections we will describe the technical motivation for WAVES platform's features and illustrate them with use cases. We intend to determine the most “production-ready” aspects of current blockchain technology and apply them to the real-world problems."

After reading tge white paper again, here are my quick thoughts:
On the contrary to what people here may lead you to believe,  Waves is not only a platform for the creation
Of new tokens, it's a decentralized exchange, it has use cases for crowd funding, asset to asset trading,  AND users can choose to pay the transaction fees for token and asset trades using 🌟THEIR OWN🌟custom tokens. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️That is a great, useful feature!
415  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could Bitcoin price increase to $1 Million one day? on: June 30, 2017, 03:15:09 AM
I actually have read quotes by Bill Gates, agreeing to this *potential. I will have to find that source.
I have many times heard on various media that if bitcoin trends stay close to the current upwards trail it will be enough to buy a home with a single Bitcoin in 25 years.  Amazing?  Yes.  Shocked
416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is sick of these BTM fees. on: June 29, 2017, 09:32:06 PM
It is a group consensus then.  We want to NOT be taken advantage of at the machine.  Period.
I am excited to be a part of the soon-to-come competition for the higher priced end of Bitcoin dispensing.
What I mean is, watch out Coinsource, Mamas moving in and she is going to be all over town with a better deal for your disenchanted customers.

Cheesy I had to do some background research, I love the drunken rant "origin".

You know your a Bitcointalk use when....

You send weekly PMs to Satoshi Nakamoto in various tones hoping you will be the one he finally responds to.

I have sent a couple messages to Satoshi but I was not going to admit it until now!  Thanks for starting me on the path to confessions!  Cheesy

Addicted to Bitcoins ?

Of course..

...

Addicted to BitcoinTalk.. !?

..Didn't see that one coming..

I'm on about '1 check every 10 minutes' 15hrs a day, 7 days a week, ... 5 years and counting..

..

I find it comes in waves.. sometimes you become a post monster, for a few weeks you're chatting away (arguing like mad).. and then you chill out, and lurk for a while.. before diving back in again..

..

Of ALL my addictions.. this is my favourite..  Tongue

Thanks All!

(Maths + Money + Code .. who could ask for more.)

This is great because I am a Bitcoin fiend at times and, although I didn't realize it ... I am a bitcointalk.org addict too!

I needed my daily fix or I get wobbly.
*inspired me!
