Hi everyone,

I would like to take over and develop the FUNK Coin.
According to a post by shavers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=469407.1820) i should contact Simondlr, but i get error message while i try
to send PM :-(
"User 'simondlr' has not chosen to allow messages from newbies. You should post in their relevant thread to remind them to enable this setting."

@Simondlr: Would you give the FUNK Coin to me?

Thanks & best regards
ZeroCool

Why not fork FUNK, then you don't need anyone's permission and you can do what you want?

Are you interested just in the coin, or the music too? I can't see the point of FUNK without the music.

What happens when the Supernode bounty ends, will fees be enough to attract enough nodes to keep the network secure?

I've actually wondered about this myself. What's the plan?

The fund has 2+ years, so they still have time to consider options.

The SilverCoins fund would be an ideal target to continue funding Supernodes ...

I agree the SilverCoin funds can be better used supporting the future, rather than rewarding dudes from the past who have already been rewarded generously for their early adoption of NEM. SuperNET/Komodo have some mining, but even still, they have allowed funding mechanism for 14 years for their 64 notary nodes before they have to confront supporting a network without PoW,  2+ years isn't that long.

If you look at the number of coins locked up in supernodes themselves, SN bounty funds, silvercoin, it's dangerously high, adding some certainty now so supernode operators feel confortable and know the landscape for the next +5 years would avoid chances of a panic dump if everyone got spooked and rushed for the exits at the same time. It's not a critical issue today, but it *might* be sooner than we expect.
What's a good solution though? It seems like if there is no inflation in the currency, then this is a problem, unless transaction fees somehow offset the cost.

I think the solution is twofold:

1- start tapering the reward for Supernodes, let the number of SN's adjust gradually over time as the bounty reward slowly decreases, compensated by (hopefully) increasing XEM price. Going cold turkey can kill you, avoid at all costs, and avoid a dump of SN locked up XEM

2- top up the SN bounty fund now, to maximise the period of tapering, ideally +5 years

As transaction numbers increase, and price increases over time I think we can be optimistic that eventually running nodes for tx fees only will be incentive enough for many SN operators to just continue running nodes, but they need certainty now, and time for network activity and price of XEM to increase. Two years is not long enough IMO

At the moment it appears to be a straightforward cliff edge where it suddenly ends. I think they've had other things on their mind. If there's any sense it'll be wound down slowly. The funds locked up there might add up to over a quarter of all XEM.

Cliff edge sounds dangerous, maybe top up the fund from other sources now, and then start a tapered reduction program over 5 years or so, ending with a gentle slope.

Its not about the price of VERI, I'm not that short sighted. Its about the fact 1) the tokens are currently worthless without a platform, 2) there is no timeframe on when a platform might be available, 3) reggie seems to consistently flake out or talk in a grandiose manner and yet not deliver on anything promised. I'm questioning whether this project can actually deliver on its intentions, if not, the tokens will remain worthless. If we start to see others deliver on the vision before him I guess we will have our answer. Will be watching O'Leary's tokenized hotel and Abra's crypto exchange (supporting fiat currencies too) with great interest. These are two examples that may deliver in the same market space as Reggie intended but possibly beat him to it.

At some point Reggie might need to consider simplifying the platform down to one simple function for one dominant user, just to get it off the ground and have something to demo to other potential users. I share your concern that Reggie is good on the big picture vision, but needs to get something out in the market place asap before the big boys come in a do exactly what he's bčen talking about for years now, and gazump him before veritaseum launches. The competition might even be able to capture the regulators that seem to be slowing Reggie down.

How long is the supernode bounty fund program scheduled to last now, will the funds get topped up from other community fund accounts like the 'silver' coin fund? What happens when the Supernode bounty ends, will fees be enough to attract enough nodes to keep the network secure?

Hello. With the announced implementation of the project will occupy a large niche, I'm afraid even to assume a possible capitalization. I will monitor the implementation of, and maybe I'm the project investor.

Hard to know what this bot is trying to say, is C3PO about, maybe he can help translate. So disappointing to see this forum overrun by spam bots, maybe one day with AI these bots will be entertaining,  but at the moment they're just a pain in the ass.

Idea For A Sustainable Alternative To The Signature Campaign To Airdrop Remaining Bytes

I have been following Byteball for some time and I think the end of free coins just by holding the balance was the right decision. However, I do not like the new way to award coins for posts via a signature campaign. Apart from the fact that the benefit to the project should be limited, users who have high levels and probably already own Bytes are preferred. To get new users -- which should be the goal -- this way is rather not sustainable.

So I have another suggestion where everyone can participate and do something good. I have long been an active member of WorldCommunityGrid where you can leverage your free computing power for meaningful projects and research, e.g. fighting cancer and diseases, and other important things. The software of WorldCommunityGrid named BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) is quick and easy to install (all major operating systems and mobile phones are supported). Anyone can set up the software in a few minutes and contribute processing power.

My idea: why do not we start a WorldCommunityGrid (WCG) Byteball team. For calculating small tasks, participants receive WCG points automatically. Via a Byteball bot, members can connect their Byteball address with their WCG username, and then receive free bytes from the bot - say, once a week - depending on the amount of WCG points earned. WCG provides a simple API with which the data can be read into the Byteball DAG via an oracle.

The effort is not big. In principle, only the bot would have to be written. I would have liked to set the task, but unfortunately I'm not a great NodeJs programmer.

If possible, the bot could also accept donations, so that the campaign could also be supported by donations and not only by the remaining bytes to be distributed. I would give a donation myself.

Do good and get bytes!
What do you think about the idea?

This is a great idea!  We'll do it.

Ripple did this several years ago. This was fun, but they stopped it because this giveaway was gamed like hell by guys who had access to HPC clusters. I got a lot of XRP renting AWS compute instances Smiley

I don't really have a problem if people fire up aws instances and use the compute power for WCG and make some BB, up to a point it doesn't reduce the incentive for others to run one boinc on their personal PC. Ripple boinc giveaway ended up being a PR disaster  because they abruptly stopped the giveaway when people still had unused boinc credits to claim. That left a sour taste for me. Don't change the rules mid stream without good reason, and give people some advanced warning if you really need to change things.

Is there any more news on the golem 'hack, can someone tech minded summarise what the issue exactly was?

People here expect an update from the team everyday lol. This is an airdrop coin, if you are not happy with the team then sell it no one force you to keep it. They didn't ask you for money or anything so stop complaining.

No not everyday, just if they announce something on slack they should announce it on their own announcement thread, or do you disagree?

If there is no news anywhere, all well and good, but if there is news, announce it here, only takes 2 minutes, and yes they took my money as a donation for exchange listing, and it's not complaining but feedback.

This was posted today on discord.

Quote

hello everyone

i know you're all waiting for the next distribution phase and exchange, but these are both bottlenecked by our foundation process. all serious partners and exchanges require a legal entity before they will do any kind of business with you. we're currently waiting for our legal department to get this done and getting updates on the process daily, it's just very slow. thank you for you continued patience!

There's still no news.

Thanks for posting, I will try and follow discord, but I thought Sirius were using slack ... too many communication channels in crypto now.  Anyway, I have faith that Sirius guys are doing some interesting things, so this is definitely a project worth following, but there are many other worthwhile projects too, so competition for mind share from cryptpsphere residents is pretty high.

join the slack and always be aware of what is happening Wink

I'm in too many slacks as it is, if the devs can't be bothered to post an update in their own BTT announcement thread, then they should expect lots of people will miss these tit bits.

Pro tip, if you announce your coin on BTT,  post updates there also, otherwise announce your project in an unknown slack for you and your buddies. Common guys, who follows 50 slack channels daily, my watch list on BTT should be enough to get major news.

When CSW has access to Sat's 1 mill BTC wallet.. He can call himself what ever he want's lol. Cheesy

I agree, in 2020 CSW will either fly like an eagle, or forever quack like a duck, there's no other possibility in my mind. This issue on whether he is real or fake satoshi will be proved conclusively in 2020, and imo CSW looks like he's preparing for redemption, and a big fuck you to all the doubters. He doesn't need to sign messages or anything in 2020, he just starts moving satoshi bitcoin and keeps tweeting like Trump.

The more I study this project the more I like it. Tell me,  how can I participate in this project without investing personal funds?

You could create some BTT forum accounts, make a lot of pointless posts to get your post count up, join some signature campaigns, and then use the sig bounty $$ to buy some XEL. Sounds pretty stupid, but guess what, I'm literally doing this right now, and getting ~100 USD a week for posting 25 times with this BYteball signature. It's the only way to make any money in crypto from scratch, that's why this forum is full of posts like yours, and replies like mine!

edit, I will use my bounty to buy XEL, that makes the effort worthwhile

that's not a stupid idea....but, Big Naturals, you have to think that you are still a newbie, and to make some money with signature campaign, you need to grow up your ranking on the forum and since the introduction of merit system, it's very difficult.

I only do Sig campaigns for coins I believe in, I would wear an XEL Sig for nothing because EK is a crypto legend in my mind, and what he does, and how he does it is very classy imo.

Since the merit system came in chances of me ever getting to hero is unlikely, but i don't care, this forum is past its glory days, slack and discord and telgram are the places for good reliable info now. Crypto would benefit from a real open forum without censorship and all the Sig spam, if I were in charge I would BAN Sig campaigns for money. I only do this byteball one coz tonych the dev is old school guy without any ICO.

some of the most pump altcoins actually are top coins listed on coinmarketcap

coinmarketcap listings are complete BS even failed ponzi scam bitconnect still has a $6.8m marketcap and everywhere apart from 1 exchange has now dropped it there is no liquidity at all

I agree, coinmarketcap is not reliable, the whole of crypto is manipulated, and sometimes attackers and supporters align and both desire the price of particular crypto to drop. I think bitcoin cash supporters are quite happy with price, and some third party services are always adding or removing coins, and likely are paid to do both so short term changes don't mean much. BCH is a real contender, and when CSW gets access to his trust account, I expect fireworks!

Vitalek is an intelligent child, CSW is a dick sometimes but he's battle-hardened and come through the ass of the devil with all the FUD against him, and he survived and looks confident in what he's doing. I'd wager that Vitalek vs CSW would be a first round knockout if they ever debated in person, I honestly don't think they're in the same league. Vitalek is definetely smart but what's he created with ethereum looks flakey as shit now. I can't judge the tech arguments anymore than I can judge two medical experts with different opinions, but Vitalek looks rattled now, CSW looks like he doesn't give a fuck anymore what people say about him. Also Vitalek ran an ICO, and would be raped 24/7 in jail, maybe that's playing on his mind.

I do not see any further development of the project, I see only one promise, but months pass and so nothing changes, in the near future one more dead coin will be more.

Really its strange that up until now the team don't seem it necessary to communicate with community members here, i mean, i see how supporters of this project constantly update each other here and ask question regarding Sirius but not much is coming from dev team, really sad Sad
I don't see much on discord channel either, dev team you need to be more active in community and give update about progress of project and possibly nest distribution phase, i miss the first phase i thought i could catch the next one but things ain't really looking as expected Cheesy still will be waiting for update.

Let's hope it's a case of quiet before the storm, but the lack of communication is a worry. The devs got some cash from their exchange listing 'donations', but probably not enough to justify an exit scam as such. I suspect these guys aren't full time crypto , and they've gotten bogged down in other commitments. Time will tell, but a few lines of communication in this thread only takes 5-10 minutes.
they already told that now they have their focus on forming foundation and listing on exchange , maybe there is nothing more to tell , maybe dev and team are just waiting for the right timing to bring some mega news ,

They really need to clarify what is happening with round 2 airdrop, not clearing that up is a bad look, if devs give a message like 'by end of March', and we're into April it looks flakey and not well thought out. No news is Ok, but changing plans and not updating the community is asking for trouble, especially if you donated to the exchange listing fund. What happened there too, any news on exchanges?

If the Picoin dev ever checks this thread he might regret that he left without any mention as to his plans, looks like there is still people following this crud after months & months of nothingness. I truly believe a Zombie Picoin revival would get some support, does the chain still function? Is there a working wallet still?

Zombie coins without a dev are fun to play with, just look at bitcoin dark!

edit, disclosure, I am a clawback case too, I received a generous gift from Risto just for posting in the CK thread and asking a mod to send me some of Zec's M (or maybe it was CK asset). In retrospect I would consider that 'gift' dubious, Risto was depressed and almost suicidal then. He wasn't acting rationally when he let people do that.

Don't feel bad, risto was depressed in those days but gave away his funds willingly for a purpose - to keep people interested in CK and create some reason for following the CK thread. I really miss that guy, he was basically a good person, just really messed up by family crisis and drugs, and too focused on the fantasy gameplay and religious thinking, ended up dropping him deep in the rabbit hole without a way to get out. Not very likely he will ever come back, but I hope he is OK.

Have you received airdrop? I haven't got mine yet... 🤔

Sometime Tuesday. Be patient.

I have not received mine either, but BTX airdrops are more regular than a vegetarian's bowel motions ... Once the drops are finished I expect this coin will consistently rise for months and years to come. Great distribution, one of the best in the cryptosphere, no scammy nonsense at all!
