4001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Brave the best crypto friendly web browser? on: May 20, 2020, 04:22:43 PM
The last time I used a browser other than Google Chrome was more than a decade ago. During 2010-11, the organization in which I was working banned the usage of Google Chrome. They asked us to use Mozilla Firefox, after claiming that Chrome was unsafe. Pandemonium followed, as none of us agreed to those conditions. Everyone got so used to Chrome, that they refused to use any other browser.
4002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: May 20, 2020, 04:14:22 PM
In what world is Biden a good candidate? The polls show Biden leading because media coverage is dominated by coronavirus and Biden is pretty much immune from media scrutiny. His cognitive decline and allegations of sexual assault by Tara Reade pretty much flew right under the radar but Trump isn't going to let that go, nor are his Super PACS. I wouldn't be surprised if some pro-Trump commercials show Biden grabbing women and making them uncomfortable on camera.

Biden is an awful candidate.

If Biden was "immune" from media scrutiny, then this scandal would have never surfaced. On the other hand, it is being covered by all the major media outlets. And let's not forget the numerous scandals against Donald Trump. There is no doubt that the American media is politically motivated. CNN/MSNBC and similar channels favor the Democrats, while outlets such as the Fox News support the Republicans. Now let's not assume that Biden enjoys media support across the spectrum.
4003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ICOs, what we can do? on: May 20, 2020, 03:39:00 PM
Have you ever wondered why shady ICOs continue to attract investment, despite the negative mood prevailing in the market for the past couple of years? My guess is that a large part of the investment directed towards these projects come from questionable sources. The investors may be trying to wash their coins, to avoid detection by the authorities.
4004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: May 20, 2020, 03:33:53 PM
Shakib tops the list.

Not sure if his reputation got any serious dent, yet to meet any Bangladeshi or any regular cricket fan online who thinks otherwise. Yeah, BCB case was weak but they took the actions anyway. Arguably it can be said about Umar Akmal - PCB too but he's unprofessional cricketer so no one really cares about him much.

When he is still playing, the fans will continue to support him. But the mood will change 10-15 years after the retirement. I still remember the match fixing scandal involving Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja. Back then, in 2000 the mood was overwhelmingly in their favor. A lot of people either believed that they were innocent, or the punishment was excessive. But now Azharuddin is widely being regarded as a match fixer. He no longer associates himself with cricket, and there is little support from the fans.

In countries such as India and Bangladesh, the sports sector is huge. And in most cases, the government taxes them very heavily. They have the option to suspend the sporting events until the situation gets better. But the economic loss is going to be huge. This is one of the aspects of the economy, which never gets its own fair share of compliment. Just check how much tax revenue goes to the Indian government after each edition of the IPL, and you'll get an idea of what I meant.
Looks like you are underestimating the amount of money the government is getting from other sectors as tax, the BCCI is not even paying the entire tax levied upon them and they are asking for exceptions and the income tax department asked them to pay 1303 crore and they are yet to pay everything.

Do you know that the government collect 1,75,501.42 crore as tax from alcohol alone and you are talking about a small percentage BCCI is paying as tax as a huge revenue for the government and that too they are asking for tax exceptions Roll Eyes.

I am not just talking about the direct taxes that the BCCI pay to the government. There are indirect taxes as well. For example, when Star Sports or some other channel broadcast a particular match, they need to pay taxes. When some advertiser shows his ad during these matches, they need to pay the taxes. The indirect taxes related to IPL may be 10 times or 20 times larger than the direct tax total.
4006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why there is no Standard Marketplace like Amazon with BTC as payment method?? on: May 19, 2020, 06:22:54 PM
Earlier there was Bitmit, but it was forced to close down due to regulatory hurdles. Now we have another site called Bitify, but the number of listings are very small and the trust factor is low. And then obviously we have sites such as Newegg and Overstock, which accept direct payments in BTC. And even in Amazon, you can indirectly make payments with BTC. First you need to convert BTC to Amazon gift card using sites such as Gyftr, and then you can use the gift card to purchase whatever you want from Amazon.
4007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The list of bounty projects that end in a scam on: May 19, 2020, 06:00:47 PM
These are just a few scam projects in this market, in fact the list will be a lot more like that. We should list the successful bounty because it will be a lot more helpful than listing scam projects

Excellent suggestion!!!

Just checked the bounties section, and we have a total of 13,000 threads. Some of them may not be bounties, but even with a conservative estimate, it is safe to assume that we had more than 10,000 of them since 2017. And how many of them paid good rewards to the bounty hunters? May be 500, or at the most 1,000? So it will be easier to list the successful bounties rather than listing out the scams.
4008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: May 19, 2020, 05:38:46 PM
Since democrats elected Biden there already no any another result than Trump victory. I will bet a little, but it's not interesting anyway. Another 4 years with Trump is coming  Grin

I am not so sure that Trump will win. Without the corona crisis, I would say that it was an easy win for Trump, but right now? But it is too bad that Biden is not a super candidate for the Democrats, if they would have someone such as Obama...

At this point, Biden is the best candidate they have. He has a better chance of winning swing states such as Wisconsin and Arizona, when compared to any of the other potential candidates. You can't compare Biden with Obama. Both have different personalities and obviously Obama was extremely popular. But Obama is not going to be the candidate in 2020.

During the last 2-3 days, we had opinion polls from AZ and FL, two of the states which are crucial for Trump to have a realistic chance in 2020. Check the results yourself:

4009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Which trading platforms do you use? on: May 19, 2020, 05:32:05 PM
This may sound quite odd, but I haven't created an account with Binance yet. Perhaps I'm the only one who has posted in this thread without an account with that exchange. I registered to a dozen or so accounts in 2017. Did KYC for most of them. For now, I am sticking with them and I don't want to join any additional exchange and do the KYC process yet again. Here are some of the exchanges where I have a trading account:

1. Bittrex
2. Livecoin
3. Gate.io
4. Huobi
5. HitBTC
4010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Mayor Wants to Re-open Casinos. Thoughts? on: May 19, 2020, 05:23:09 PM
But what if they put sanitizer next to each table or slot machine? Make a distance of more than 2 meters from each player, make regular room disinfection more often and put air cleaning hardware on max power. Also make a defensive screen for dealer (like it is used in cashbox in the shops). In addition to giving free masks.

There are cameras everyone. It is easy to find out which gambler doesnt use mask or etc. Or limit the amount of gamblers in area who wants to play.

It will be a best solution for gamblers, casinos and national treasury Smiley

I read somewhere that the sanitizer kills 99% of the germs, and the remaining 1% survive. That said, we need to remember the fact that the virus spreads through air. What will happen in case anyone sneezes or coughs? Are they going to evacuate the entire building and then sanitize it every-time someone sneezes? I am telling you.. these proposals are very difficult to implement in reality.
4011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can I restart a dead altcoin and continue the development?? on: May 19, 2020, 05:17:21 PM
I don't understand the point in trying to revive a dead project. Why do you want to carry on with the past luggage? A much better idea may be to start from the scratch. You are putting so much effort, and therefore you deserve a healthy amount of coins or tokens as premine for yourself. That is not possible in case you want to revive an old project. Let the skeletons remain in the closet. I would recommend staring from the scratch.
4012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 19, 2020, 05:11:24 PM
I disagree. Your assumption about thousands dying by rushing is baseless and doesn't make any sense in my opinion. They are in a far worse state now. Some lucky ones were able to travel back thanks to special trains, but the rest are experiencing hell by walking all the way.

Also, no one is an expert when it comes to COVID-19. I find it hilarious that these so called experts think that they could contain a pandemic like Corona in a country like India(2nd highest population).

The central government implemented their plan in a poor manner as usual. Bangladesh did a much better job in comparison based on my research.

I have my own way of interpreting, and you have yours. For the past two weeks, the government is transporting migrants to their hometowns and villages using special trains. So far 2 million people have reached home. This is being done in a well organized manner and the migrants are happy to be home, without having to pay for food or travel.

And comparing Bangladesh with India may not be a good idea. Because India is having a population of 1,400 million which is 10 times that of Bangladesh. And the last time I checked, India had 75 COVID cases per million while Bangladesh had 153 per million. Just for comparison, in Pakistan it was 200 per m, and in Nepal it was 14 per m.
4013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty hunters and Investors, Who values Cryptocurrencies More? on: May 19, 2020, 05:05:47 PM
Investors value it more because when the market dumps they will always hold tokens they have, when they feel they have enough profit or they don't even get any profit they will sell it, bounty hunters don't really care about prices in the market
Yes, bounty hunters will never care about the project and the price. As long as they receive the token, they will definitely sell and receive money immediately. Many projects have collapsed because bounty hunters panic tokens at the first stage

I am tired of hearing this ridiculous argument again and again. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Bounty pool is normally 0.5% to 1% of the total budget. Even if we assume that half of all the bounty hunters dump their token in a single day, the total comes to just 0.5%. For comparison, the daily trade volume for Bitcoin is 25% of its market cap. There is no point in blaming the bounty hunters for the failure of a project. If the project is good, then it will survive. Else, it will fail. Bounty hunters can't be made convenient scapegoats all the time.
4014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 19, 2020, 04:58:05 PM
If you are not one of those football hooligans, I don't see a valid reason for not staying at home and watching the match on TV. With 5 million people infected across the globe, this pandemic is not a joke. It is the responsibility of the government to push economy back on track. But that doesn't mean that they are going to allow tens of thousands of fans to crowd around in the cricket stadiums, where the average distance between two fans will be somewhere in the vicinity of 2cm.
Not sure when the cricket will be back, even if they plan to resume there is no way we are going to see audience participation especially in Asian countries where you get a huge crowd for every match. The government is responsible to push the economy back on tract especially the manufacturing sector but they have nothing to do with sporting events.

4015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Never trust an ICO ranking site! on: May 19, 2020, 04:52:18 PM
Now do your own research. Never trust other people's judgments because they can be fake and misleading investors. Just do your research for yourself and find the best projects to invest in

I second that. But at the same time, some of these ICO review sites do have experts working for them. So there is a good chance that they may have access to additional information, which is not readily available in the public domain. The best thing to do is to do your own research along with the information that you get from the review sites. You can validate the information on your own.
4016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 19, 2020, 04:46:23 PM
I guess CA and BCCI are on same page and their interest aligns with eachothers.

- If T-20 WC gets cancels then BCCI is winner, in case IPL takes place in OCT-NOV. BCCI might earn heavy amount approx $400-$500 Millions from the IPL in comparison of $80 Millions from the T-20 WC.
- In return BCCI will play Bilateral series with the CA which is schedule in Dec this year. Winner is CA

Rest of the cricketing nations should raise their voice if that happens.

I don't think that the "Rest of the cricketing nations" can do much about it. Dozens of overseas players appear in the IPL. The best players from all the countries (with the exception of Pakistan) participate in the tournament, and for them the IPL is the major revenue source (in most cases IPL salaries account for 80% or more of their annual revenues). But still, I want the BCCI to make a deal, such as allowing a major ICC tournament sometime in 2021 (in addition to the T20 World Cup).
4017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cartesi is now listed in Binance on: May 19, 2020, 04:40:12 PM
5x is on the way?

You believe that a particular altcoin or a token can go up by 500%, just because it got listed in one of the larger exchanges? Now I am not going to say that it won't happen. But on a different perspective, it shows the weakness of the cryptocurrency market. If an exchange listing can have such an impact on the exchange rates of cryptocurrencies, then we are not doing good. The liquidity is not there, and the decentralization has gone for a toss.
4018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: May 19, 2020, 04:34:20 PM
It's kind of unfair decision to be honest for both Akmal and Shakib Al Hasan. They didn't have any deal, refuse to deal but just because they didn't let know the board about that should not punish them. Imagine how player like Shakib Al Hasan will perform after getting back, I doubt I will see the previous Shakib once again at all.
I would say Shakib get away with it, technically he missed how many series? As far as i remember only 2 (Correct me if i am wrong)  Indian tour and Zimbabwe visit that's it and after that cricket already came to halt pretty much due to covid-19, so not much loss for him.

You are right. But then, Shakib was probably among the best players Bangladesh ever produced. His reputation getting tarnished because of the association with match fixing may haunt him for the rest of his life. I am still not convinced by the arguments put forward by the BCB. There is still a chance that he is innocent and he got trapped by someone else.
4019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small Investors are losing Bitcoin by Investing in Altcoins? on: May 18, 2020, 01:29:07 PM
People need to realize that what happened in 2017 was a bubble. Back then alts such as Ethereum gave more than 100x returns (when compared to 22x for Bitcoin). Then there were coins such as Cardano and TRX, which gave almost 1,000x returns. A lot of people are still investing in altcoins, thinking that they will also get similar sort of returns. They need to understand that investment bubbles occur only once and they are unlikely to repeat.

I don't remember all of them, because I have participated in dozens of bounties (mostly social media) and very few of them paid me. Some of them added silly conditions in the end, in order to avoid making payments. The below list includes only a few of them:
