4021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia faces shortage of PC graphics cards due to Cryptocurrency mining on: June 20, 2017, 10:23:42 PM
Well this isn't something that's only stuck on Russia at the moment, this an issue all over the world that is because of the mining alt coins with GPU's If you're in the US right now and trying to find a AMD RX 470, 480, 570, 580 you're just not going to find it at normal price, you're going to have to pay a high premium to even get it and that's just due to the amount of money that's being pumped into mining.

There's really nothing you can do about that except sit and wait for the bubble to pop in the crypto sphere and see what happens because of it, I think these GPU's are going to be trying to be sold for cheap because there's going to be an insane supply but little to no demand.

So, I can't wait!
4022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: hold your savings in the cloud rather than at a bank. on: June 20, 2017, 09:48:38 PM
Yeah if I were you I wouldn't be keeping everything I have to my name / whatever you have saved in these insanely volatile currencies which are cryptocurrencies. You're really taking a huge risk with that which could completetly destroy any sort of forward progress that you've made with your savings in an instant and really fuck up your entire life. If you've got money that you can live with losing and want to take a risk which could either reap in a high reward or lose everything you put in, then so be it buy some Alts and bitcoin and see where it gets you.

THOUGHT I WOULDNT RECOMMEND PUTTING YOUR SAVINGS IN HERE RATHER THAN A BANK. People may come out and say it's free money at the moment with the price increases being so much but it's a bubble that is bound to pop at some point.

You have a lot more protection with a bank then you'll ever have in crypto.
4023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the biggest disadvantages of Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2017, 09:25:21 PM
Biggest disadvantage at the moment is going to have to be how congested the market is and how expensive it is to actually use Bitcoin on a daily basis. When you compare this to using a credit / debit card, you're really going to be paying more for Bitcoin in TX fees then in credit card fees (Which would be 0 if you're paying your bill on time) In a time where the average fee is from $2-$4 it's really going to be tough to justify using Bitcoin for yourself, and to be able to spread this wonderful tech to people.

This is going to be a big one, and the other one is going to be following along with this as the miners aren't able to come to a conclusion to be able to fix this in a timely manner which is also upsetting to see. I hope this can all be fixed fast to ensure the growth of Bitcoin.
4024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You Holding On To Your Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2017, 08:45:38 PM
At this moment no, I'm unable to keep up with the volatility that is present in the market of Bitcoin. I know it may make people mad here, but I'd rather convert to USD to be able to avoid the volatility and to simply accumulate money through the stuff that I make money with Bitcoin and I'm able to avoid the volatility of the market by just having an auto coinbase addy to convert it to USD instantly.

I have some money in BTC that I've left there and some more money in some altcoins so I can still make money if the price does go up but I'm not over exposing myself to the volatility that we all know is present in the cryptocurrency market.
4025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x will get activated for sure? on: June 20, 2017, 08:22:45 PM
I think when the time comes the miners are all going to come out and backout out of this due to not really supporting the cause and being unable to support it as a whole. They did this to do something, maybe move the market a bit or stabilize the price but it isn't going to last to AUG 1st when people find out they weren't being serious.

Why would the miners want want to change anything, they could just stay the way they are and reap in the TX fees and just sit here with no change in sight while the fees get higher and higher.

I don't think it's going to get activated, ever.
4026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ♠ Beginner's Video on Bitcoin and Crypto in General ♠ on: June 20, 2017, 07:52:41 PM
Nice video don't get me wrong, but you kinda touch very broadly on like every issue that you touch on. Which is nice for people that want a broad scheme of things, but I would take less time delving into current events like the Venzuelan crisis and more time about the trading volumes of these coins and the amount of money that's being pumped into it right now. The bubble is something that people should know about and should learn about, it's only a matter of time before that pops and everyone losses a ton.

Also, drawings are nice but don't skip so much when it comes to drawing stuff in. It'd look nicer if you did the entire thing so we could see that as an animation as well.
4027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will countries launching their own cryptocurrencies affect bitcoin? on: June 20, 2017, 06:55:29 PM
The only way it's going to do anything is if this country is going to be promoting this cryptocurrency as the new official currency and the only one that can be used within the country. If they're doing this, it's going to force BTC and other mediums to be stuck and to kinda have to be stopped usage in the country or risk repercussions from the government. If a country is just launching one to launch and try to ride on this market or something that's not going to do anything in the least.

So, maybe it'll affect bitcoin if this leads to Bitcoin becoming illegal in some places due to the government not wanting to compete at all.
4028  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin be accepted by USA or will the US try to denounce or embrace? on: June 20, 2017, 02:54:13 PM
I think they're going to regulate it on a federal level if they feel as if it's going to be posing a risk to the bankers, their own treasury and all the bureaucrats behind it, and all the other people with tons and tons of money who stand to lose it all if Bitcoin is the currency that takes over all. Just imagine all of the big bankers and government workers being ousted because people have no use for them due to this decentralized currency known as bitcoin.

I don't think we're ever going to get to that point though, these people have too much to lose and too much money to spend to lobby the government a certain way. So if it gets to a point of danger, Bitcoin is going to get rocked by the government.

So, only denounced if needed for the betterment of WHOS IN POWER AND PAYING.
4029  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's price is so volatile right now! Why should I even hold? on: June 20, 2017, 10:39:14 AM
Personally I'm one of those people that hold a certain ideal about bitcoin that doesn't and isn't going to go along with the #HODL crowd or whatever they call themselves these days. I feel as if you depend on the money that you have in Bitcoin, I'd go ahead and convert it into USD. No harm, no foul with that being done. Worst case you miss out on some profits, but if you're going to be depending on that money and need ease of access wouldn't you rather BE SAFE THAN SORRY.

But if this money is just some sort of experiment and you don't care if you lose it then fine, leave it here and see what happens. Worst case you lose money you thought you were going to lose anyway.
4030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's still really hard to use bitcoin as a regular currency on: June 20, 2017, 08:23:07 AM
Well, it's not like they're wrong when they say this stuff they're really just being truthful and honest which is something that's insanely tough to see from a MSM company which usually only cares for the clicks, views, watchers, subs and so on which they get for the shit that they put out and call NEWS.

Even if I will say Bitcoin is a currency, it's not one which is really accepted much out of this niche community which we have here. Don't get me wrong, others accept it but we're going to see a lot more people using Paypal and wanting to use paypal then use Bitcoin. This isn't due to superior tech or anything, it's because Bitcoin is a bit of a hassle for normal people to use cause they have to go through a lot of KYC regulations that the gov put on us.

So, yes it is hard to use btc as a reg currency.
4031  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Currently, Trading is the best waay to increase your bitcoin. on: June 20, 2017, 08:12:43 AM
While this is probably true for people during a bull market, what we're in right now is what people refer to as a bubble. Which means at a certain point, all of these insane gains that everyone is boasting about is going to come crashing down and probably ruin a nice big handful of people when it comes to their livelihood. I'm not going to tell people not to do it, but don't think that all of this is going to last forever when it comes to the amount of returns that are coming in.

One day it will pop and no one will know when that is (Maybe except the whales who'll set it all up to fail)

If you want something safer, avoid this insanely volatile market of trading.
4032  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If the bear market started tomorrow. How would you adjust your porfolio? on: June 20, 2017, 03:14:01 AM
Well being as if my entire portfolio is already in USD, I probably wouldn't be adjusting anything when it comes to my Bitcoin portfolio. Or my lack of a portfolio for that matter. What I'd probably do is buy in cause this price would be a MUCH MUCH lower price then now if we were to go from FULL RAGING BULL to the complete bear which would be insane to see.

Would probably be the time of a lot of panic selling for the people that've thought Bitcoin and altcoins were going to be easy money (Kinda like the right before the great depression, hehe) and then I'd buy in to make a killer when everything recovers or at least goes to 25 percent of its intial price from the bull market.

So, I'd buy.
4033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The absolute easiest way for a newb to run a node - Bitseed on: June 20, 2017, 02:54:41 AM
Might be the easiest way to be running a node, but I wouldn't be doing this if you just want to be a nice guy and run a node. Seems as if it's going to be a big waste of money and a big money grab for the bitseed money who're doing something wildly easy, making a little device to run a node and then selling it at a disgustingly high premium to kind of kill it for people.

If you want to run a node, just do it. Don't go ahead and pay all this money into it. If you're going to want to use $160 or something, buy some bitcoin or some altcoin with it and then just run the node on your computer.

HAVE FUN!
4034  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Help] Poloniex is causing me losses. on: June 20, 2017, 02:26:50 AM
Well he is doing something by coming to this forum and trying it because if they're not going to answer him when it comes to a private medium, they may come out and work with him on a more quicker basis if they're being hit in the public light.

Though bud, there's really not much you can do besides try to contact them on all mediums including Reddit, Bitcointalk, Twitter, and so on and so forth to try to get a response out of one of the support people who're browsing the forums / social media accounts. But give them time, with the amount of more and more users and money that are going on these platforms they're kinda understaffed to be able to handle all this new traffic so quickly.

4035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crime funded by bitcoin on: June 20, 2017, 01:40:51 AM
Well, this is already an issue that is faced by people. Crimes are being funded with the help of Bitcoin and some of these crimes are surrounding the drug trade, there's really nothing we can do to stop this and they're just using the features of our currency (Bitcoin) to stay as anonymous as possible online. Though, I do think that Bitcoin is one of those things that has it's pros and cons when it comes to using it online.

For someone in the drug trade, I think they'd rather take cash face to face rather then doing all this crazy online stuff with a high chance to fuckup at a random point. So this is something they're probably going to think about before selling drugs online, they have to go through tons of loops to 'clean' the money online and to get it out into cold hard cash which is really going to be a bit annoying when they could facilitate all of this in person, and in cash.

So I think it makes criminals go through my loops then they want to, gosh even the government looks over these things with a much higher regard.
4036  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: June 20, 2017, 12:19:05 AM
Only thing that I pretty much do is show friends the currency if they really want to delve into it, I'm not going to force it down peoples throats if they don't want it or if they simply just don't care for using another medium of currency in the least. Though, for the ones that do show interest I make sure to show them a couple videos and then explain it as best as I can by myself. At this point, I've kinda stopped recommending it to people who're just looking for small cheap TX's cause it's not worth it with the fees with bitcoin right now.

So, I do my part but the community has to do it's part by getting the TX fees down so more and more common folk are able to get into bitcoin without an issue.
4037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what's the fees you pay every bitcoin trading? on: June 19, 2017, 11:31:30 PM
Fee of Sat 500/B? That is insane. I have never paid that much fees, ever since I started collecting Bitcoins. The maximum that I have paid is somewhere around 300 Sat/B. But normally, I pay only around 100 Sat/B and sometimes even less. It is not viable to pay a fee of BTC0.0005 on a transaction worth just BTC0.001.

Insane to pay this much, but if you're going to be doing something that's time sensitive you're going to want it done within the next block which already takes some time in itself. So, people are going to pay for a lack of patience or inability to be patient at that time for some other reason.

I usually pay whatever the recommended is on one of those bitcoin fee estimator sites and just go with that, it usually seems to work rather quickly. Though, if I'm doing something that isn't time sensitive I'll pay as low as I can to still get it confirmed though it'll just be waiting for like 3-6 blocks.

Here's the site I use btw to estimate fees - https://bitcoinfees.21.co/
4038  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain.com domain offline. on: June 19, 2017, 10:36:32 PM
Domain is going to be back up, could've been done for maintenance or could've been getting hit by some hard ddos but who knows. I'd go with the latter just because of how controversial they are with the whole ASIC boost shit, and that everyone also hates Jihan so it could simply be someone who doesn't like him taking him and his little site down to bother him.
It won't work for me either. Maybe they're busy trying to decide on what coin limit their new altcoin should be hahaha. Either way it seems they're not worried about the website and more about securing their financial future ATM.

Yeah this is also true, their site really doesn't do much for them as they sell antminers all over the place. They've cemented a place in Bitcoin for a long time to come, and unless someone else comes in with a lot of money and investments they're going to stay here.
4039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: June 19, 2017, 09:33:33 PM
The thing that we're going to have to understand is that if the miners want to do this and if we don't agree we can simply stop using the currency all together and stick to using the one we love, we don't have to follow in their hard fork if you don't want to. I do fully support it think this is the best for Bitcoin, but I don't really know what the others hear think about it.
Well, that escalated very fast with those miners signaling Segwit2x. I think Segwit2x will be the compromise that makes everyone happy.

I'm gonna buy a bottle of Bacardy rum when this long-term scaling debat has come to an end.

I'm going to be with this guy and just simply get the point of simply praying that this will be the end all be all for this debate. Maybe the fucking TX fees will go down from the insane prices they're at now as well, please miners?
4040  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy BTC at one exchange, sell it more expensive at another? on: June 19, 2017, 09:08:37 PM
While this is something that people do do in other markets, it's something that isn't going to work in bitcoin for a good amount of reason. Starting with the easiest one to go off on, is going to be the part that Bitcoin is something that's going to take time to confirm when you send it-- even with the highest fee it should still take around 5-10 mins to confirm. With this, you're not going to be able to beat coders who have bots and all created to be able to read the market and handle all of this with ease.

Number 2 is going to be the part that you have to be on MULTIPLE EXCHANGES which is going to take time to get situated on as you usally need all the KYC stuff which is a pain in the ass, and if you're in the US you're kinda stuck on only a few BTC exchanges -- which again sucks.

IT COULD WORK, but probably won't due to the time needed to do all this giving way for a correction to occur on the exchanges which would make you just waste time, money, or both.
