4021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At what stage are we now in the crypto space on: February 28, 2021, 08:51:10 PM
I think the current stage is integration stage. where traditional institution should merge with blockchain projects to enhance the markets. with the pandemic still affecting business at large and with no sign of reducing. most country printing more currency notes which might cost inflation, to solve financial issues for their citizens. crypto has pass the stage of adoption. the world economy is gradually plunging down. with little or no help. i think it is the right time to have a massive shake off in traditional finance and embrace in blockchain technology.
What do you think.

We have been in this stage already, even prior to the pandemic, government are already thinking of using blockchain. It just magnified because of the pandemic, and it seems they are in a hurry to have 'cash-less society'.

I don't think though that blockchain will solve the financial issues globally, it might be a bridge though. And it will take some time for us to really recover because of the negative impact that covid-19 has brought to the world.

4023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs. Avni Yildirim - February 27 on: February 28, 2021, 05:19:10 AM
Well, Canelo won easily on 3 rounds, while I think we all knew Canelo was going to win this fight it was a disappoint fight, Yildirim did almost nothing during the fight, he tried to defend himself and even that was not good enough, while we know this was the mandatory fight and Canelo had to accept it or lose his belt it is surprising how weak his opponent really was, these kind of fights do not really appeal to anyone except the fans of Canelo that want to see him win every fight, but for boxing fans that want to see a good fight this was a waste of time.

Yes, this was a waste of time. There was no point in making this fight. We knew Canelo would win easy and Yildirim would be lucky to make it past the early rounds. It played out exactly as was expected. I don't see any of Canelo's next potential opponents being that much more competitive. I hope Joshua vs. Fury gets finalized soon so that we have something more interesting to look forward too than another mismatch.

Right, Canelo said he is not bothered by boxing media criticizing him with fighter a no name Yildirim. But this does nothing to his resume, almost all of us here knows that this is a mismatch from the very beginning and we are all right about it. Next for Canelo will be Billy Joe Saunders and we do hope that this one will be different. At least it will be very competitive.

Just to be fair with Canelo, Yildirim was his mandatory so he is obligated to fight him whatever his detractors will have to say. But we all know how great Canelo, (we have said this many times already), and a fighter like Yildirim caliber will not put a good match against Alvarez.

Call it a surgical masterpiece, a clinic coming from Canelo again and I doubt that not even GGG can beat the Canelo that we have right now.
4024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs. Avni Yildirim - February 27 on: February 27, 2021, 12:01:59 PM
Bookies is predicting a KO here, by the obvious odds, and it's really hard to bet on the underdog here as Alvarez is unstoppable in the last 6 years. Most of the time, we really look for a good and live underdog, but this time, I don't think there will be some upset here as Canelo is too good, too sharp.

Probably there will be whales in Vegas putting big amount of money to Canelo, but for average gamblers, might be good to look per round odds.
4025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Just won $7560 by Staking my DIVI. I'm speechless! WOW on: February 27, 2021, 10:54:40 AM
Just wow mate, that's a good enough winnings for just staking your DIVI, for sure if I'm in your shoes I will be speechless as well.

I heard about DIVI as well, but didn't dig deeper on that project as I have invested on others altcoins as well. Yes, I won with my early investments on most of them, just take some time to really hold on them.

I don't know if there are also other members who is as lucky as you are staking their DIVI, in any case though, big congrats to you.
4026  Other / Off-topic / Re: Deontay Wilder: He makes another WILD conspiracy theory about his loss to Fury on: February 27, 2021, 10:19:41 AM
A poll has been added now. I am looking forward to how the voting plays out.

Nice, I voted for:

He is mentally unwell and is need of professional help

I think it's pretty obvious that Wilder may have been psychologically affected by his lost to Fury because of his claims and excuses and blames everyone and everything, including his heavy ring walk custome, his former coach Breland, who he said spike his water and is working on the side of Fury. The only reason why he loss is that Fury is the better man and he can't accept that.
4027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 27, 2021, 09:49:07 AM
lakers are in trouble this year they are heavily relaying on LeBron, playing him in every minute possible because Davis is currently out injured for at least four weeks. Now they cant rest LeBron for the playoffs.
and if they rest him the Lakers would drop down in the standings quick. They’ll prob rest him for a game here and there but they need him now more now than ever  they risk not reaching Playoffs rather then just rest him for good.

Lakers is finally back in the winning column as they won against Portland. Lebron put on another show with his team mates rallying behind him racking up great numbers. It would be natural for Lebron to only be played every minute because they lost one of their best players. The season is still early though so I guess they can adjust with the current team without AD playing.

Well both of them are in a losing skid, so it's either one of them will end it tonight.

I think it was a complete game for James after so many games, also, Dennis Schroder is back and that is huge as he contributed 22 points in his comeback game.

It's not natural though for James to played every minute, prior to AD being injured he has a good rest every end of the quarter to start fresh, so this strategy might not be a good idea in the long run.
4028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: February 26, 2021, 11:31:32 AM
I must be in the strange minority that doesn't care if I ever see Pacquiao fight again.  That Mayweather fight bored me to tears and made me resent both fighters.  They may be two of the best to ever do it or whatever, but I find myself more focused on whatever plate of nachos I'm eating at a random bar then on watching either of them fight.  Maybe the UFC has taken some of my interest away from watching these 140lb guys slap at each other with heavily padded hands for 10 rounds to wait on a decision, but I really really miss the way boxing used to be a long time ago when there were heavyweight champions like Mike Tyson who truly struck fear into the hearts of men.

Pacquiao's age is evident in its recent fights, he isn't as fast and aggressive as how he was during his prime. Even if I am a Pacquiao fan I think Pacquiao has to retire sometime soon and focus on Public Service. He had proven a lot in boxing and he must let new boxing prodigies take his spot, I am still yearning to see Pacquiao Vs. Ryan Garcia, it's like passing on the baton to the young boy who has a huge potential.
Its also what other fighter told Pacman, over the years yet after all 12 rounds of boxing inside the ring with Pacman, all they get are blackeye , and dislocated part of their faces, like what Bradley said it's fast and also heavy, they also said they can beat the guy and make him retire, but its the other way around, but for me, Pacman has nothing to prove in boxing, I just hope Mayweather and Pac face earlier that would be the greatest fight ever.

Pacman's legacy has been cemented already, and he is just pushing it more though by fighting champions after champions or undefeated boxers. So he has nothing to proved except his longevity in the ring and probably wanted to be the oldest welterweight champion.

Yes, him and Floyd should face when Pacman was hitting his prime, destroying everyone, including as big as Margarito. But Floyd is wise enough not to challenge him that time and waited till Pacman lost already and started to decline.
4029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth gas fees and investing on: February 26, 2021, 10:07:06 AM
I am not a technologist, let alone a programmer, just an investor and trader.

What do I need to know about Ethereum's high gas fees? I'm hearing some say that this could sink Ethereum. How exagerrated is that?

Yes, it's true, but that' just pure exaggeration in my opinion.

If it could sink Ethereum, then we wouldn't see a new all time high of $2k this month.

And then we have records of Ethereum wallet this year as well. It might cost them a bit them as new projects might shift to Binance Smart Chain, but I don't think it will have a negative impact to them. ETH2.0 staking is still on record high as well and even they say it's expensive, investors are still pouring their money on Ethereum. So the answer is No, it won't change a bit even if it has a high gas fees right now.
4030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 26, 2021, 09:29:31 AM
Early I thought that the Nets would have some problems throughout the season with team chemistry

I also think the same but not that it will last throughout the season since chemistry can form along the way and while in progress, there are some adjustments made like Irving consider Harden as a point guard, Durant advising Harden that it's just a new curriculum (since Harden isn't used to being traded) and many more.

I just hope that all teams have a fully healthy lineup once they reached the playoff's contention so no reason at all when being eliminated.

Yes, both Irving and Harden adjustment their role and it works perfectly for the team. And that's why they are winning and we wouldn't thought that it can work (including me), and that's whats this team very dangerous as we go closer to the play-offs and I would say that they are the team to beat in the East right now.

Again, it was a great team effort, 6 players with double digit, that was just awesome.
In this game, it was Irving who are shooting way better than Harden, but they win and that's what all matters for this team.

I can already sense that their championship goal will be realized and Nash will get his first championship as a coach that he didn't get as a player AFAIK.
It seems that Harden has settled nicely to the Nets offense and rotation that they keep on winning and could be on the way to get their ring this season if the chemistry continue to blossom as we enter the playoffs. We will be happy to see Nash winning his first ring as a coach here and he could also win the coach of the year.

It's called maturity in Harden's part. Now that he is getting older, he has learn a lot from his Houston experience that he can't really win games by himself, and he needs to blend with other superstar who has won NBA rings already like Irving and Durant.

So if his shooting is off, then he can let others take over from him, like Irving in this game and then the whole team effort is great, just like the Utah Jazz, wherein everyone was contributing in their own little way.
4031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Lightning Network replace on-chain transactions sometime in the future? on: February 26, 2021, 08:49:30 AM
I'm aware that the Lightning Network's mainstream adoption is still low these days. But as on-chain fees increase towards new heights, people will look for other options. They'd either choose an altcoin, or the Lightning Network in order to avoid high fees and slow transaction confirmation times.

There are lot of options though, altcoin is one, but Ethereum is even higher than bitcoin so I doubt that they will choose it. But they have to convert their bitcoin to other altcoin as well, for some this might be tedious.

If adoption for the Lightning Network goes all the way to the moon, do you think there's a possibility it could replace on-chain transactions? Of course, that is excluding on-chain transactions to open/close a channel on the Lightning Network. I think that miners will be doomed if something like this happens.

What are thoughts? Huh

Nah, LN is design for small payments only, and most bitcoin transactions involved huge amount moving in and out of the blockchain. So it won't replace on-chain transactions in the near future. There are a lot who complain about the fees and yet bitcoin is still the top coins. So there will still be miners, until the last bitcoin is mine.
4032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 25, 2021, 10:22:22 AM
The Lakers played as bad tonight as I’ve seen. They are being exposed badly for their lack of size. They need to pick up Cousins, Whiteside, Drummond, or Howard if they want to make it past the first round of the playoffs. I still have no idea what they were thinking when they decided to overpay for Harrell instead of get a steal on Howard. I blame Rich Paul.

Drummond will be a big addition if they ever acquire them. It was really a mistake to get Harrell and Gasol to replace McGree and Howard.

Harrell was really playing above average when he was in the Clippers uniform, but with the Lakers he was exposed as undersized when AD got injured. As for Gasol, I will say that he is not a perfect fit for a running game like the Lakers. He is used to set up picks when he was in Toronto but with the Lakers it was different role for him that he wasn't adjusting.
4033  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MicroStrategy has bought more $1.026 billion worth of Bitcoin. on: February 25, 2021, 09:46:32 AM
That's a huge purchase. Michael and his company know what exactly they're doing. MS is one of the companies that has been stably buying bitcoin, a dip or not. There's also news for it from CNBC.
Now I don't think Saylor and MicroStrategy know exactly what they're doing. Because they could buy BTC below 10k$ during almost 2 years and they didn't do it, they've waited 50k$ and now they are FOMOing at the ATH...  Undecided

It's was a different time back then, as there was no printing of fiat because of the covid-19 effect.

And one of Michael Saylor's argument is that bitcoin is far more superior that any other assets because of the current shift in economic paradigm.

https://www.washingtonian.com/2021/02/12/dcs-bitcoin-king-explains-why-hes-investing-more-than-1-billion-in-the-cryptocurrency/

Quote
Bitcoin is “a radical new thing,” he says, so “if you are in the old paradigm, your view would be this is just scary and risky.” Plus, his crypto fame is paying off in other ways: “I think probably it would cost us $100 million a year to buy the kind of publicity that we now get for free.”
4034  Other / Off-topic / Re: Deontay Wilder: He makes another WILD conspiracy theory about his loss to Fury on: February 25, 2021, 09:05:36 AM
You’d think there would be some shred of truth to his claims, but that seems a little far fetched. I saw the fight and it didn’t look like he was drugged or anything, it just looked like he wasn’t the better fighter. Maybe his camp was having some issues but at the end of the day I think they all wanted a victory. If not, he needs to get himself a new staff.

I think he already did get a few new people around him after he lost and that's why he dump his trainer Mark Breland. It's a case of he said, she said here, but like the majority of us who watch the fight many times, Fury is the better man that night and Wilder was really hurt, no plan B and so Fury knock him down and won the fight.

Wilder should move on and chase a fight not name Fury and bring back his confidence again with his new staff around.
4035  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predicts $100k before end of the year on: February 25, 2021, 08:15:03 AM
This year started with some scary bitcoin price rollercoaster rides. I dont believe bitcoin could reach the $100k price during only 1 year. I think it is going to be cyclically. Like in year 2017 and later, in the year 2021 we have already gained a lot, compared to previous years. Now we are going to go down and only after another halving, by the end of year bitcoin will shoot high again.

We've been almost a year after the halving in 2020 and obviously we have gained so much in price already. And if we are going to the bull run in 2017, we are not even half of it, the price could go up as high as $100k at the end of the year if we are going to follow 2017's pattern.

Bitcoin going down is just part of the ecosystem, as you have said, its cyclical, a lot of bumps, ups and downs along the way. Definitely 6 digits are doable this year, we're even half of it at the current price level.
4036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Mainstreaming of Bitcoin and Crypto Continues on: February 25, 2021, 07:42:16 AM
Big firms and companies investing in Bitcoin. Tesla, Micro Strategy and Twitter are just to name a few, pushing for global adoption.
Is this a sign for a long term investment or just pump and dump for them?

For these big companies, bitcoin is now becoming a reserve assets for them, so it's a long term investment. But for average joe like us, sometimes it's really hard to have that hold mentality, and so we will see some occasional sell-offs.

As far as I'm concern, pump and dump are applicable to altcoin market only. But for bitcoin, it's different though, yes the rise won't be parabolic and we will see some crashes along the way, but it doesn't mean that it is being dump, just some corrections and we have seen this pattern many times already
4037  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN CORRECTION: PERFECT BUY TIME on: February 24, 2021, 12:29:36 PM
You were right. The price of Bitcoin at this point is already $50,500 but it went as low as $45,200. That's already a $5,000 difference. If anybody believed your signal that anywhere in between $47,000 to $43,000 is buying time and have made actual buying, they have already made a significant profit.

I think the price right now is still falling within the buying range. Bitcoin is still eyeing $60,000 within the first quarter.

Right, the $45k is the best buy for bitcoin, so it was a swing from $57k-$45k which is more than 20% 'healthy correction'. And now that the price seems to stabilised around $50k so that golden opportunity may have  gone for good.

$60k will be doable next month, and just like we have seen in January wherein it went as low as $28k but we have a good bounce to $57k. So $60k or even higher could be achieved in March.
4038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 24, 2021, 11:33:56 AM
^^ And they didn't panic, Luka knows what's going on that's why they didn't call the time out. You really have to appreciate his basketball IQ here and very confident that he can hit it as he has been shooting in that range throughout the game.

That smile is the final dagger to the Celtics, two 3's in seconds to seal the win for Denver, shy of 2 assists to make it a triple double night for him.
4039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Logan Paul moving to Puerto Rico, fight back on? on: February 24, 2021, 10:27:07 AM
This fight is cancelled and I don't think that they will consider it again. Mayweather thought that he will get a $50 million plus paycheck, for a few minutes of fighting. But unfortunately the fans were not interested as they kept the PPV pricing too high. Most of them would have spent $9.99 or $19.99 on the PPV. But this match was priced at $69.99 and most of the fans found it unaffordable.

That price is pre-pandemic and it's a mega boxing fight.

Unlike this match, this is pure exhibition and I will agree that boxing fans are not willing to pay at that high price. Even $9.99 or $19.99 is too high for me to watch Floyd beat Logan in just a couple of minutes of boxing. Of course there are hype because it's involved Floyd and a Youtube sensation, but if you have to take a lot at it, there's nothing significant about this fight but to make more money for these two.
4040  Other / Off-topic / Re: Deontay Wilder: He makes another WILD conspiracy theory about his loss to Fury on: February 24, 2021, 09:53:58 AM
I once somehow believe his first excuse about Fury having something in his gloves but now I know Wilder just can't get over the fight
Gloves, in ring entrance clothes, spiking his drinks. He has many excuses.
That excuses is merely his fault on his corner's fault, there's nothing to blame or he will just blame himself.
All of that can be corrected in the 3rd fight if he made it easy to happen, he can even wear nothing to solve the clothes problem and will hire a new trainer.
Unfortunately, he didn't do that, his excuses made him look like a real loser, from being a superstar, he has now become a clown in boxing.

But boxers with a lot of ego, like Wilder here, can't accept the blame here, that's why he goes on to look for someone to point at, and now it is his trainer, which he said spike his water or something.

I don't think there will be a 3rd fight now, Fury says no already. Maybe we can see Joshua vs Wilder next. And as far as Wilder now, we don't know who is beside him and whispering to his ears to go to the media and make this claims again.
