Sent a DM.

This user entered into an agreement to do this development and once funds were sent to escrow they decided to back out and not do the work.  This is resulting in a refund request for the buyer (OP) which I am going to process later today.  I wanted to post here in the event that a possible man in the middle scam could be occurring in the event that it can possibly help someone from having their funds stolen.  I hope this is enough of a warning as this is a fairly common scheme that tends to result in users trusting telegram accounts impersonating someone else and then losing their money by sending it to an escrow agent who has been communicating with alt accounts.

Last 2 or 3 games for LeBron James to become the topscorer in NBA.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was a legend and set the bar high but LeBron James is coming to break all these records. Legendary times indeed.

This is the most exciting thing that's happened in the NBA probably since Kobe's final game.  I can't think of another time that's been so looked forward to by so many people.  Will Draymond Green really miss a game to watch LeBron break the record?  Will tickets top $100,000 resale value for his record breaking game?  Is he going to do it with a big night in legendary fashion or will it be a somewhat non-event that gets played off by LeBron?  Will there be tears or will he not really care because it's a personal achievement?  I just hope I'm able to watch the game.  This will surely be one of those moments you look back on for a long time.

So, I think everyone in here agree people like me or most the time bitcointalk only chase from Bronze to Plat II/III.

I see a lot of people constantly talking about their ranks or trying to sell high ranking accounts.  For someone like me who doesn't gamble much, can it be explained what the purpose of this is?  It seems like there is a subset of gamblers who chase the rank more than trying to win with their bets.  Does being a ranked up member pay you some amount or are the bonuses so great that it's worth chasing?  I looked into it for a minute but only saw blanket statements as to what the rewards are.  Can someone break down what sort of bonuses you get for being "Bronze" for example?  What are the rakeback %'s or is there a place to see this information.  I'm just curious.  Maybe I'm missing out.
4044  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Coinjoins Seem Larger and More Popular on: February 03, 2023, 05:58:07 PM
The large transactions make it more likely that it is institutional investors using Wasabi, and that could easily account for the larger coinjoin pools.

Maybe this was a test by their team or something to see how well a large transaction would work.  The government has come out and said that they can trace coins through traditional coin mixers if the amount is over a certain threshold.  Perhaps this is them testing if they can truly keep large transactions anonymous.  It also could just be a promotional tactic.  I've seen plenty of posts and articles about this large transaction already, which is probably the best advertising one could have for Wasabi wallet.  I think that's more likely then someone suddenly wanting to use coinjoin for such a massive transaction.  Even if they were to use coinjoin for this amount, wouldn't they still split it up to avoid being in the news? Seems contrary to what they were trying to accomplish if it were a real transaction.
4045  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the black swan event not to be expected anymore? on: February 03, 2023, 05:54:31 PM
Just a quick note that a black swan event is an occurrence that will come out as an surprise. Literally the main point of a black swan event is that people aren't expecting it and you're asking if we should expect one?

Yes, expecting a Black Swan sounds a lot like living a life of extreme paranoia so that you're right when something insane happens...  If you could predict a black swan event, it wouldn't be a black swan event, it would just be an event.

I am pretty sure us going from $69K all the way to $17K and then everybody thinking we bottomed only to get the FTX implosion plus the contagion that came with it is the black swan. Look how much panic it caused. I was even freaking out. I almost sold all my crypto and sent to my exchange to withdraw into my bank account where it would be safe.

Yes I can be wrong and we can still go lower. However right now it all depends on the CPI data and unemployment numbers. If inflation is going to go up then we might get more rate hikes and if that happens then we might have some bad bank implosion like Lehman.

I agree.  The timing of it being at the bottom of a 4-year cycle somewhat made it seem like regular market activity, but the truth is that Bitcoin would have hit $100K easily if it weren't for FTX stealing everyone's coins, dumping them on the market to buy shitcoins, and letting people think they owned Bitcoin when they really didn't.  Given the timing, insanity of management, and where the money went (liberal politicians) I find it hard to believe this wasn't an orchestrated "black swan" event (if that counts).
4046  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Forget Electric and Gasoline Powered Cars on: February 03, 2023, 05:51:05 PM
I think that electric and gasoline cars have their advantages.  Distance and infrastructure for gasoline and the ability to recharge at home with renewable energy for the electric car.  Maybe there are better alternatives out there, but I think if we're trying to remake the auto industry, Bob Lazar showed how it could be done easily and cheaply for everyone.  The only reason we aren't all driving around in cars running on water (hydrogen) is because of government regulation.  Sure, maybe if they government didn't regulate certain things then we'd all be blown up by crazy people, but the idea that we could be running our cars on water if we were all allowed to buy hydrite seems like something that should be investigated by someone inventive for a solution.

Bob Lazar showed us how to run cars on water more than 30 years ago.

4047  Other / Politics & Society / [POLL] Is Biden responsible for the current high inflation? on: February 03, 2023, 05:43:32 PM
[POLL] Is Biden responsible for the current high inflation?

With Joe Biden now claiming that inflation was already high when he took office (it was 1.4%) and trying to blame Donald Trump for the reason why inflation got out of control, I wonder how many people actually believe this.  I could go on and on about all the Federal Reserve officials who quit their jobs when the Biden administration wouldn't follow their advice about how to avoid an inflationary mess.  It doesn't matter what the facts are though.  It matters what the people believe.  So, what do you believe?  Is their misinformation campaign working?  Vote with your belief and let's see.
4048  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 03, 2023, 05:36:59 PM
That latest U.S. jobs report is pure BS. With all the mass layoff announcements? In the first two weeks of Jan?

No. Fucking. Way.

I'm sure the numbers were fudged, probably pulled forward holiday and contract hires, just to dump on the longs.

They'll revise down months later.

The Fed really wants to keep this inflation narrative and rate hikes going, drag it out for as long as possible.  Roll Eyes

I sort of thought the same thing.  I have multiple friends dealing with layoffs at their jobs now and the ones that aren't have had their hours cut or been told to start saving in case the worst happens.  Maybe the layoffs haven't actually occurred yet, and this is the last ditch effort to justify their rate increases headed into a recession?  In any event, they can't continue pretending the job market is strong for much longer.  The jobs that are available are trash that nobody wants and the only explanation in my opinion for an increase in job numbers is that people are getting second jobs to try and make ends meet with higher rates.  I would agree that this is more manipulation and that Biden is dead set on causing a recession so that he can promise assistance going into the next election.  He's now even denying inflation was his fault.  We are fully headed to an Idiocracy future.
4049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Charitable Casinos on: February 03, 2023, 05:31:43 PM
I've never heard the term charitable casino before, so it's interesting to me.  That might be an angle that would help people feel better about losing.  I'm sure to some extent all casinos donate something to charity and I'm sure some of the large ones donate quite a bit.  How does this differ from being labeled a charitable casino?  Do they have to pledge a certain percentage of their revenue or profit?  Maybe all casinos should do a better job of showing where they donate their funds, as I honestly have no idea if Stake donates anything to charity or not.  I just assume they do as it seems like they have a great deal of funds and probably some causes the owners care about.
4050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 03, 2023, 05:29:06 PM
Another boring cash grab.  It's not even good boxing just filling entertainment gaps and people are willing to pay for it.  I don't get it, what is the obsession with watching Paul box?  Fundamentally it's not even good boxing to watch.  These sub par amateur or entertainment fights hopefully will be a thing of the past soon.  It's getting tired.
Even though the fight is only aimed at fighting over some money, boxing fans will definitely always be able to watch the boxing fight.
What's more, those who really like to bet on boxing will definitely bet on the Paul vs Tommy boxing match.
If I want to make a bet myself, I prefer and bet the win on Paul.
So don't think that this fight is just a joke and it's not good to watch because we can watch it for entertainment and excitement.

Clearly it's a cash grab, but that's ok for me.  Nowadays there aren't really any boxers that I'd want to watch.  There is no Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield...  It seems like the sport hasn't had a real legendary heavyweight boxer in a long time.  It makes the sport hard to follow for a casual watcher.  At least with Jake Paul you have a guy you can follow that's doing things.  He's also getting a lot better and I think when he knocks out Tommy Fury he'll finally get some respect as a legitimate boxer.  I actually think Jake Paul is a lot better than people give him credit for and I wouldn't doubt it if he holds a real belt at some point in the future.
4051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RVN will reach 1$ on: February 03, 2023, 04:19:11 AM
I had high hopes for Ravencoin but I haven’t seen much happen with it. I assumed by now there would be plenty of projects paying dividends and communicating with their holders. I assumed Overstock would be issuing shares on the RVN chain and there would be marketplaces trading ticker symbols. So far all I’ve really seen is it be used by pump and dump groups to buy at $0.02 and sell at $0.1. I hope that changes.
4052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: opinion: it would be better off if taproot was rolled back on: February 03, 2023, 04:13:14 AM
I don’t think it would be an easy task to roll back taproot. It was worked on and planned for a great deal of time before it was activated. It wasn’t a fly by night upgrade. Seeing it having unintended consequences now doesn’t seem like a serious issue to me yet. Developers have already started submitting proposals to censor the transactions they don’t like and some are supporting it. Undoing the upgrade hasn’t been floated by anyone as a serious solution that I’m aware of.
4053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 03, 2023, 03:22:41 AM
Lebron and the Lakers climbing back from a double deficit at the start of the 4th quarter. Although Pat Bev missed two crucial free throws, he did make it up with a good defense on Haliburton on the last 10 seconds of the game. And then he denied him the ball on the inbound, and Buddy was force to throw a tough fade away in the corner. So Lakers won with the slimiest of the margin with just 1 point. Lebron's hit a 3 and so is Pat Bev, and then Davis seal it with a one foot fade away against Turner.

Nice to see the Lakers get the win but LeBron only scored 26 so he’s going to need a big game against the Pelicans on Saturday if he’s going to break the record against the Thunder like people think. Personally, I think he gets the record against the Bucks easily and puts up similar scoring efforts in the next two games. Nice to see AD back and the Lakers winning.
4054  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why does celebrity marriage frequently end in divorce?  on: February 02, 2023, 11:11:10 PM
Quoting the great Bruce Willis, “Try keeping a marriage together when 22 (year olds) is still on the menu.”

To paraphrase, he’s suggesting that the temptation to have extramarital sex with young beautiful women is too much for a man to be able to stay faithful to his wife. I think this is common with celebrities of both genders and people are only human. So many people go out looking to cheat on their spouse, I imagine for celebrities to constantly have that temptation leads to divorce more frequently because everyone has their weak moments.

LeBron going for 89 points and the record tonight against the Pacers? Probably not… I do think he’ll try to get over 30 though to help him stay on track to break the record at home and on TNT. Oddly enough though, TNT won’t be showing him play tonight and instead is opting to show the Grizzlies vs Cavaliers and Clippers vs Bucks instead. A little strange to be televising 2 Bucks games this week instead of 2 Lakers games, but as long as the record is on TV…
I confess that I'm very curious and anxious for LeBron James to accomplish this feat, or rather, the whole world must wait for it lol
No one has been able to come close to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record for a long time, I believe that soon LeBron James will pass it.

If in fact LJ passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who could be the player to pass LeBron James? And how many years will it take for this future LJ record to be broken?

I think it would be fairly easy for a lot of players to pass LeBron if it wasn’t for 2 big things. 1) An early start. LeBron came out of high school so it will be somewhat difficult for a player with a couple years of college under their belt to ever catch him. 2) Injuries. Most players have their careers cut short or like in the case of Kevin Durant, miss a lot of time that keeps them from getting that many career points.

When LeBron is done, it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to catch him, regardless of how good they are.
4056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - take profits or continue to DCA? on: February 02, 2023, 05:26:12 PM
I think it really depends on your situation and your timeframe for your investment.  Obviously the way to play it is to DCA at the lows and sell the highs.  If you like doing taxes you might do this weekly, or daily, who knows.  I think the way to do it though is to play the 4-year cycle.  Buy continuously except for on years where the market is expected to peak.  For example, buy in 2009-2012 then sell in 2013.  Buy in 2014-2016 then sell in 2017.  Buy in 2018-2020 and sell in 2021.  Buy in 2022-2024 and sell in 2025.  You see how this goes?  If you followed that extremely simplified approach to investing in Bitcoin you would probably be insanely rich right now with even the smallest regular DCA plan.
4057  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- ***NEW UPDATES*** on: February 02, 2023, 05:18:15 PM
sad to see people still out money to this scam!

It is amazing how much effort and money went into this project only to see it result in either A) a scam, or B) a really poor thought out process for their customers.  I never owned a Titan Mint coin because they didn't seem to earn the trust they were demanding of their customers (pretty typical here really as scammers try to FUD the trusted makers and hype up their alt account's scams).  I still don't know if this was a planned scam or just a really poorly thought out model, but either way the customers are the losers here.  A shame, but a good example of why 2fa isn't a viable replacement for an honest and trustworthy maker.
4058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2023, Bullish or Bearish? on: February 02, 2023, 05:12:25 PM
I think it's pretty clear that we're off to a bullish start if nothing else...  The thing people don't seem to understand about the current global marketplace is that a massive amount of money was just printed.  This isn't normal, well, not to the extent that they did it.  This is going to cause the price of pretty much everything to increase.  Sure, the government is trying to cause a recession to keep prices down and allow them to scoop up assets from out of work Americans to help them get into a position to "help" people in need.  This is what they do.  Don't let go of any of your assets in this coming engineered recession or it will hurt your financial situation the rest of your life...

The Bitcoin market continues to show a great deal of strength. Just when it looked like it needed to take a breather and test some support, it starts to rally and jumps up another thousand per BTC. It seems like there is still a great deal of demand for coins and it’s anybody’s guess how long that’s going to last. It is nice to be moving away from $16K though.
