4041  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What hardware should I start out with? on: February 15, 2017, 12:13:00 AM
Wifi is not an issue with mining, you can get by with dial up if you wanted to although you might have some latency issues or something like that. Today's miners are too loud for home mining truthfully unless you put em in a basement or garage which is not possible in your setup. You might be able to mod the fans but with the power density of the A7 and S9, you still need a high cfm fan. R4 is your best bet.

Am also now hero member (whoo!), likewise please update my rank if possible.
4043  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now that usb sticks are being sold by sidehack here is a new usb hub thread. on: February 14, 2017, 08:06:50 PM
Leo, your sticks shipped yesterday. btckess is in the next batch of small orders.
Thanks for letting me know, I can hardly sleep without knowing when my stick shipped Smiley I will definitely let you guys know when I get mine and do some basic overclocking on my motherboard USB 3.0 port.
4044  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now that usb sticks are being sold by sidehack here is a new usb hub thread. on: February 14, 2017, 04:36:48 PM
Ya I'm going to start off at 1.5 amp and work up slowly. Even if its 2 or 2.5 amps I'll be happy. I was trying not to fry the usb hub with 10 2pacs mainly. And ya I don't know where I am on the list but the wait is killing me lol
Same, I bought my stick pretty early but I'm not sure if it's shipped or not. Either way we're pretty much guaranteed a stick and I'll finally be able to test out my new hub. I'm more excited for the BF16 stick and overclocking that but we've got the 2pac for now.
4045  Other / Archival / WTB micro sd card reader on: February 14, 2017, 03:13:42 PM
My laptop doesn't have the slot for a microsd card so I'm looking to buy one from you guys on the forum. Yes, I know I can just buy from eBay or aliexpress but I prefer using bitcoin. Prefer to get one shipping from the US.

Dunno if I'm lowballing hard or not since I have no experience with chips but I'd offer bucks and shipping to 16415 for one of each chip. I don't have nearly the experience to make a new miner, nor can I even solder new chips on :p

buck a chip?
i also forgot i have some spoondoolie rockerboxes if i can cleanly pull them from the boards , also another cool looking chip like the bfl chips

i took my pain meds so my hands arent steady enough right now to grab pics of the rest of the pics, ill get them tommorow though
Yep, I already have a SP20 in my house so not really interested in those but otherwise that sounds good. I don't quite like the design of those as much, prefer the cleaner one of the BFL chips.

This is pretty damn interesting, I don't know how to offer for each honestly but for the BM1384 Sidehack would probably let you exchange some for a stick or a pod. I'd be interested in one of each chip you have but I don't know how much shipping would be for that- also, please upload ss'. Zip is 16415. Would be nice to put in a display as long as they aren't burned or dirty Smiley
4049  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 13, 2017, 11:05:40 PM
Damn it's been quite a while since we've hit a block. I've been chugging along with one S3 on the pool, glad to see that it's still making me something Smiley variance is high on pools like Bitminter but they still get blocks.
4050  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Butterfly Labs Jalapeņos/ Original Bitforce or 32-37GHS Rockminers on: February 12, 2017, 08:28:26 PM
Why?  I don't understand.

I have a jalapeno.  I have a, what did they call it, mini-single maybe (the BFL one that was larger than a jala but not the biggest one).  I also have some block erupter cubes from asicminer in case you are looking for those for your museum.  They all worked last time I used them which was not recently.  Tongue
Looking for some running collectibles that I can keep and laugh at a few years in the future. Just interested in the Jalapeņo, pm me with your price. Other ones are a little power hungry and I don't want them for that reason.
4051  Other / Archival / Re: NEED FAKE ID ASAP on: February 12, 2017, 08:14:12 PM
He was already marked for a potential account sale so I'm really not surprised. Besides, these kinds of sales aren't allowed on bitcoin talk and the thread will be moved to trash can soon.

Unless there's something really special about this laptop besides the fact that it's nearly brand new, couldn't you just buy this off of amazon for eighty bucks less?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/B01CGGOUJM/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

That link is broken for me, but this is the exact laptop I bought as I've retrieved the link from my "Ordered" page on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CGGOUJM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

$650 brand new, I'm selling for $500 in nearly brand new condition.
Yes, but you can buy it for around 420$ in used condition sold by amazon with prime shipping. Every Amazon used laptop I've ever bought has been in great condition, so I see no reason why someone would buy this one in like new condition for an eighty dollar premium. Ofc amazon does add tax at least for me but it's still a discount.
4053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Two newbie questions about anonymity and pump and dumps on: February 12, 2017, 01:46:47 AM
For one, consider the fact that people can easily mix bitcoins and make it at least more difficult for people to find out where the coins are coming from. Second, most people don't buy when coins are pumping but there's always demand for coins so it's safe to assume that during a P+D whales don't keep buying up coins. Of course everybody has different motives so it's impossible to know for sure; we can't look inside somebody's brain.
4054  Economy / Services / Re: I will mail terrible things to your enemies for BTC!!! Revenge!!! on: February 12, 2017, 01:43:57 AM
Let's forget everything else in this thread for a second and notice that this thread in fact belongs in the services section and not the Bitcoin discussion section. This is some pretty nasty stuff you're offering to do, but please at least choose he right place to post it. Smiley

4056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can the price of bitcoin still skyrocket on: February 12, 2017, 01:14:54 AM
It is difficult to price the bitcoin can skyrocket again, early yesterday seemed to many observers are convinced that prices will not skyrocket and bitcoin dropped below $1.000, but the fact that it happened. even yesterday's price reaches highest in this year, but back down.
It's pretty much random when prices go up and down in most cases, although events also influence the changing of prices. Bitcoin has a chance for its price to go up and up every day but that doesn't mean it'll happen. For one, the price rise this year was partially caused by the fact that the block halving cut the supply being created and the effects slowly came into effect at the end of 2016 with the huge price rise.
4057  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC surpass Gold in price? on: February 12, 2017, 01:11:48 AM
Nobody knows. Bitcoin's price doesn't grow linearly (those people talking about only 700-800 at the end of 2016 were very wrong because of that!), and neither does gold's. My best guess is it'll take four or five years for it to finally surpass gold, but in reality bitcoin could surpass it tomorrow, even though the odds of that happening are low.
4058  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 1.5 cent power, which miner to use in big farm? on: February 12, 2017, 01:09:25 AM
For 300k you might be able to snag some a6 and S7 units cheap in bulk; they're nice and reliable and nothing like the terrible S9s and R4s. As for power go for some server power supplies; noise probably won't be an issue and it'll help you shave a few bucks off of psus. Most of em are also platinum 80+ certified, so efficiency won't be an issue in most cases.
4059  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Any BTC Miner (Antminer or R4) Fires occur... ever? (w/ proper elect. wiring)?? on: February 12, 2017, 01:07:36 AM
Unless you really fuck something up or there's something wrong with your miner, then there should not be anything bad that happens with your miner. Worst I've had is a power surge that knocked out one of my S1s (ALWAYS KEEP PSUS ON A POWER STRIP). Besides that, all I can think of is a cheap or just plain bad power supply.
4060  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BCMonster.com Mining Pool / [PPLNS Payout][Pays TxFee] on: February 11, 2017, 11:32:59 PM
Was going to put a few smaller miners onto the pool and cross my fingers I hit a block but pool's down right now... Hope it's up by Monday as this pool's been quiet and deserves more attention.
