4041  Other / Meta / Re: Adding Merit was the most correct action against spam, let me explain why on: March 05, 2018, 07:24:55 PM
To be honest, Few numbers of spammers will not give up easily from the bitcointalk forum and joining signature campaigns, They usually find some shitty solution to rank up by abusing the merit system. We should focus more to find them and make some investigations, Merit system is a very great way to find alt accounts and scammers, In addition, you can see which one is posting shit posts and high quality posts by simply looking for his merit points.

There is such a thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2896910.0
And the main investigations thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2544574.320

I think you cannnot identify it by just looking at their merit, there are many jr.member up that post high quality and useful post but many of their post did not gain even 1 merit. Im not against merit, actually I like it, this system help me to learn here in a short period of time.  Smiley

They will get caught sooner or later and it will hurt them. Many people have been caught with their armies of accounts and lost years of leveling up. Those were hundreds of hours! So while you may think that they are fine, it's like walking on thin ice. They're dedicating a lot of time and sometimes also money (bought accounts) into getting an army of socks and placing them all in signature campaigns, and then all get caught and it's all lost. Even if they get to earn some money in the process it's usually not worth the time and effort.
4042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No country for Bitcoin miners. PoW change when? on: March 05, 2018, 07:08:58 PM
The only solution to this problem is that bitcoin mining firms should be diversified to more countries and should not be located in one country like China or Canada.

That's impossible due to different prices of electricity and different climate. Running a farm somewhere in Africa wouldn't be efficient the same as running it somewhere in Central Europe. Countries have no problem with supplying miners. They are doing this under pressure from the banks who are trying to slow Bitcoin down.
If miners are buying and you can't supply them there are many things you as a leader of a country can do. One is increasing the price of electricity, another is building more plants or adding more generators to your existing ones.
4043  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Master Degree Important? on: March 05, 2018, 06:54:27 PM
It's better to have a masters degree for confidence and higher salary, but if one is a great specialist, I think it doesn't matter

The key  word here is SALARY. If you want to look for a job it may be important, but if you're a businessman yourself that isn't waiting to get employed by someone else, your degree does not matter. I have my degree, but it didn't earn me any money. In the last 10 years it maybe paid for itself, but that's all. I only got back the money spent on education and I doubt that I will ever double this sum in my life. I know wealthy people with many businesses who made money by working since high school. When I was losing money and time on education they were starting their own companies.
4044  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Celebrity on: March 05, 2018, 06:48:32 PM
One of them is 50 Cent, he unexpectedly nailed it about 8 million dollars after holding his bitcoin for years Smiley

He later said that he's not using it and that he never had any Bitcoins! Someone who handles his sales added a Bitcoin payment option that went directly through the payment processor and appeared as USD on their account. This whole thing was just another media rumor.
4045  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VIRGINITY before getting married on: March 05, 2018, 06:36:14 PM
It is good to be virgin before marriage as it brings the people closer.

What? How come? I think that it has completely no impact on the relationship. Especially that you usually have to take your partner's word for it. A man can lie and you won't be able to prove it, while a woman can be checked, but it's not like you're going to give her a thorough checkup before your first sex to know she's telling the truth.
4046  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are you going to pay taxes? on: March 05, 2018, 06:31:53 PM
I would rather spend the tax money on charity than give it to my government. This way it would actually help people.

You are right. I think that taxes should be collected by local authorities and spent on the local needs of the people who live in that area. I wouldn't mind paying if I saw the results. Unfortunately my money will end up somewhere in the capital, or worse, the EU council, where it will fill the pocket of some lazy clerk who will keep criticizing my country for not being modern enough and still using too many traditional light bulbs or some other nonsense.
4047  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: We sell Bitcoin in Europe for cash or by wire transfer. Starting from 10-10k BTC on: March 05, 2018, 06:23:27 PM
Prerequisite: An insured sum of 2000 EUR is required, which covers the costs of the courier's departure to the buyer's country and the collection arrangement.

As soon as I read that part I made up my mind about what this is about. But I won’t rush to conclusions as that would be unfair and biased.

Haha good catch. In the post below they didn't respond, but they read your post because the quote about 2000 EUR disappeared from their post Wink
A while ago a courier needed 2000 EUR to meet you, now he doesn't need anything, it's fine Grin
A plane ticket from an EU country to another EU country would cost them maybe 100€! If they asked for 500 that would cover the whole trip + food.

I can get a newbie account, make a similar claim, get the money + a passport that can be sold to some terrorists. Now that ISIS is almost extinct they will be needing new identities.
4048  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-05] BTC Transaction Volume Reaches Two-Year Low on: March 05, 2018, 06:01:17 PM
If I look at the current fees, it almost feels like I'm robbing someone without actually robbing that person, lol.

It's a funny thing because back when the fees were crazy high the number of transactions was much higher. One might think that the cheaper it is to pay the more people will do it, guess not Cheesy
I think the transactions fell because a lot of new people who went in because they heard that you can make a lot of money fast with Bitcoin lost money and got scared, while long time holders don't want to spend their coins because they see the potential. The prices are too low to waste coins on gadgets when they can be worth 20% more in a few weeks.
4049  Other / Politics & Society / Re: eliminate fake news on: March 04, 2018, 04:10:41 PM
To eliminate fake news there should be punishment for the company who starts the fake news.In that case it will eliminate or lessen fake news.

And who is going to punish them? The Police?Cheesy They can always blame it on their lack of knowledge, undisclosed sources, things like that. Most of those news outlets have disclaimers that say the information may be inaccurate and that sometimes they come from anonymous tips and other undisclosed sources. We should learn not to trust them and not to act on these news without confirming them first.
4050  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are Americans so fat? on: March 04, 2018, 04:06:01 PM
Food in the US is cheap compared to how much they earn. They also eat fast food often, which is cooked on the oil and contains a lot of fat.

It's not the fat that's making you fat, however that sounds. It's mostly carbohydrates that give you energy which you are unable to burn. The math is very simple: you consume 2000 calories a day and burn 2200 = you're getting lighter and thinner. Also, you need fats to be healthy, it's just that fried food tends to have more calories in the same size meal, so people lose control of how much they're eating.
4051  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of Bitcoin and its further prospects on: March 04, 2018, 03:54:49 PM
I don’t think there will be a smooth way ahead of these currecies , Yes it proved in the past. But I am confronting a currecny should not be used for gambling purposes.

Why? Gambling is a part of our lives whether we want it or not. People are betting with their friends who will drink more or faster, who will pick up a girl, which team will win the football match. Casinos are legitimate businesses, that can be registered in almost every country in the world. Why shouldn't a currency be used to gamble? All world currencies are being gambled as we speak and nothing bad is happening.
4052  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are Americans so fat? on: March 04, 2018, 03:47:39 PM
First of all both women in the picture have no class or style showing off their private parts like that. When you're going out make sure your pants are the right size! Cheesy
Since we're talking sizes, the average American is more overweight than the average European, but I could find literally millions of pictures to support a claim that there are many fit Americans and fat Europeans.
Why are they fatter? I'd blame the fizzy drinks and snacks. The daily routine of many Americans is full of coca cola, sweet drinks from starfucks, muffins, donuts and so on, usually consumed on the go or at work.
4053  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Quality of a leader on: March 04, 2018, 03:34:39 PM
There are several important qualities of a leader. First of all he can't buckle under pressure, needs to be strong willed and charismatic, so that other people look up and follow him. He has to be stronger than the rest of the pack, otherwise they will think that they can do his job and try to undermine him.
4054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: February 26, 2018, 08:44:36 PM
More or less the same amount. I've actually lost more than I won, but I managed to keep my head above water thanks to all the giveaways, promos, rakebacks, referrals, things of that sort. Most of my bets and rolls ended up being lost, but financially I'm still a winner. If you want to talk numbers my bets in the last 2 years were a bit above $5000 in various cryptocurrencies.
4055  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-26] Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Reveals Scammer Stole 7 Bitcoins on: February 26, 2018, 08:35:20 PM
Nevertheless, the incident is curious, given that common sense would seem to dictate that one should not sell Bitcoin — whose transactions cannot be reversed — to an unknown buyer in exchange for a credit card payment, which can be cancelled after the point of sale.

This used to be so common that in 2015, when I came to the forum, it was one of the first things that I learned. Do not use paypal because people are stealing coins with chargebacks. Steve probably saw Bitcoin skyrocketing and decided to sell quickly before it goes down. He was in such a hurry that someone managed to take advantage of him.
Let's learn from this story guys. Be smart, always rethink your moves, and don't be too greedy. People tend to start thinking about that new house or a car they're going to buy that they forget about the real world.
4056  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why wallet hacked on: February 26, 2018, 08:25:39 PM
Using private key is not safe?I used private key but I was hacked all my assets are gone..what should I do?

Using private key is not safe if you do it for all to see. I'll give you an example.
You use a private key on a public computer (library, internet cafe)
Send someone your private key instead of the public one
Generate the key pair on an infected computer
Enter the private key in a public place when someone can film you doing it, take a picture
Leaving your computer unattended in a public space (at work, school)

All those things can lead to you losing your money. We need more details to be able to help.
4057  Other / Meta / Re: Is the Merit System Generating Enough Merits? on: February 26, 2018, 08:17:48 PM
I think the issue is that on some forums lots of merits are given out - eg posting on Meta.

On other forums hardly any merits are given out (speculation, trading, altcoins and bitcoin discussion).

That means that if you want merits you need to post exclusively in Meta.

A potential solution is to get merit sources to "patrol" a specific forum to award good posts. That way, the distribution will be more even.

Unfortunately, I've noticed that there are some sections that get much more attention from users who have a lot of merit and who are willing to give their merit away.
If you help newbies in beginners and help your chances of being merited are much lower than if you do the same thing in technical discussion usually because those newbies will have no merit to share. As for meta, I can agree with you because most if not all of my merit was earned here.
4058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin volatility and dumps when Asia s awake on: February 26, 2018, 07:54:11 PM
See, again the same story, EU and US East awake, the price goes up to close to $10k, then Asia awake and we go to $9400 and probably below.

I bet we see the same pattern tomorrow.

Something strange is going on. Not sure if it's Asia vs the rest of the world, mainly because traders are doing their thing at night as well. It's not like the average investor wakes up at 6 or 7 a.m. to start buying and then goes home and forgets about it until the next morning.
Anyway, this looks like the same money is being traded. Like some group sells everything and waits if the people get scared and start following them. If they don't, the group buys back and tests the opposite position. Check bitfinex on February 24 and today.
4059  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Signature campaigns. I need theymos to see this. on: February 26, 2018, 07:26:36 PM
I am willing to sacrifice earnings to make this forum decent and spam free.

What earnings? Those optional ones that you may or may not have in a couple months? With this whole attitude of yours and the merit system in place it's probably going to be years. Such sacrifice. Cheesy

I'm joined this airdrop.
Good project.
I wait for more info but I truly behind this project....

 Grin Wink Grin

Its those shit posts that annoy me the most. And a lot of them are from newbs that don't even have a signature. Admittedly I don't get around the forum much - but the threads I do peruse - those posts there are the single most annoying ones.

Are you a professional bowman? I'm asking because you (probably unintentionally) managed to hit OP right in the knee.

happy to see a new coin from our country. All the best
4060  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoin Trading on: February 26, 2018, 06:53:05 PM
You got it right, but that is only when your goal is to ultimately have more USD. I'm trading against BTC to ultimately have more of it, regardless of its fiat value. I'm doing so with all my all my airdropped and forked coins. I'm not focusing on trading Bitcoin for fiat but on trading altcoins for Bitcoin, so I'm mainly interested in how the alts are holding against it. To be honest, if you're trading cryptocurrency pairs for BTC not tether or fiat, it's hard to keep track of your fiat profits. I have no Idea how people manage to do both on a daily basis.
