 Embarrassed Undecided Cry

Well at least we know now that there won't be any major hashrate disruptions through massive use of that chip.
4042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gridseed GC3355 -Hybrid Scrypt/SHA256 ASIC on: January 06, 2014, 06:21:14 PM
Hybrid approach is very creative.

It would be, if it was produced one year ago. They missed BTC train, and additional scrypt power will not be enough to catch up. I would bet on solo scrypt ASIC, not on hybrid...

Check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397831.0 and jump onboard while difficulty is still low. Or at least get fully synced
wallet (it helps the network so thanks in advance!) and some MED for free over https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=398948.0

Will you developers support this hybrid hashing chip? Any chance you already partnered up with chip developers? Are you actualy
chip developers as well as altcoin developers?

BTW, there is MED giveaway still going on at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=398948.0 so if major miners feel like
sending some coins to newcomers that would be great. You can find people addresses on giveaway thread, some are not
valid and thus will make your address field in MED wallet turn red upon attempting to send coins. I've sent coins to almost
everyone who asked for them and received 200 MED from developers (that is still more coins than spread out over giveaway)
so there is no need to send any coins to me.

Thanks in advance!

hi all,
we have uploaded on github a new gitian build for both linux and win32:

https://github.com/mrtexaznl/mediterraneancoin/releases/download/v0.8.5.1-1/medcoin-win32-v0.8.5.1-1.tgz

I've upgraded the wallet, it is working fine. Question I have is why you are adding setup for wallet to archive? It makes archive
noticably bigger but question is if anyone is actualy using setup to install MED wallet. Also, judging by file name it seems that
it installs older version of MED wallet (mediterraneancoin-0.8.5.1-win32-setup.exe).

For historical purposes, I'm seeing the following stats as of 10:50pm CST:

Difficulty: 1435.93694438,
Blocks: 8440,
Network speed: 121.805 gh/s

What formula are you using to calculate approximate hashrate? The one I'm using is (diff * 2^32 / 60) and it says that hashrate
was around 100 GHash. Command getmininginfo returns similar number:

16:20:39

getmininginfo

16:20:39

{
"blocks" : 9030,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 1395.64443691,
"errors" : "",
"networkhashps" : 98762175563,
"pooledtx" : 0,

}

Most altcoins have been a joke for some time now, I'm glad so many are coming out, so that will become more clear to everyone. Though I'm not sure what can be done (that's fair and not time consuming) to make the alt currencies board less worthless than it is now. It's a shame, it used to be worthwhile to read. Now it's just a bunch of tools pumping the next crapcoin so they can make some profit off the newbies. It won't stop until people stop supporting this garbage.

It won't stop until theymos finally look at the situation from some other perspective and remove all altcoins from this forum.
4047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Please Stop on: January 06, 2014, 12:42:22 AM
ANNOUNCEMENT: None of you are doing anything original with the release of all these useless coins...  You're turning altcoins into a joke.  Angry

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397831.0 is actualy adding something new and useful to scene. With all other SHA256
altcoins one can disrupt mining by mere adding a farm of factory-built ASICs. Trying the same with MED would require a shitload
of CPU and RAM so 51% attack is rendered super expenssive. For a scale, 5 USB Erupters are using up 50% of CPU Intel Core 2
Duo P8600 @ 2.40GHz and around 40 MB RAM for just 1.65 GHashes total.

Normal. You can replace an alias URI with a new URI, even if it is the same URI. I consider it a bug, but CfB says it is a feature

James
Why would you even consider that a bug?
What con's do you have in mind?

What value is there in changing an aliases URI to the exact same URI. Nothing changed, why should that get accepted? Why not get an error like "you must have submitted duplicate URI", especially if it happens very close in time.

James

Due to some issues on my side with Java sort of freezing on random I've burned at least 50 NXT on resubmitting same aliases.
Same alias, same URL. But there is one another thing that bothers me and that is no confirmation dialogue of any sort in case
alias is available. Many times I would like to just check alias status, nothing more but basically, just like I'm practically forced to
use 3rd-party services to check blockchain data with Bitcoin even tough I have full blockchain locally with Bitcoin-Qt, that same
way NXT is forcing me to use 3rd-party services to just check alias availability. That or I might burn 1 NXT on alias that I actualy
do not want to register.

XCP added to fire that was already started by MSC and will make Bitcoin devs and miners ban all those protocols sooner.
For you morons not seeing that coming and obviously not thinking much I just wanna say thanks for burning your bitcoins.
Burn even more bitcoins so my stash goes up in value even more.
4051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OIC] OILCOIN - R E A D MANIFEST - DRILLINGTIME: JAN 06, 2014. 5 PM EST on: January 05, 2014, 11:12:58 PM
So why is Oilcoin any different from other shitcoins?[/b] - There are two reasons why. But just wait a moment.

With the help of DOGE and maybe Coyne West the cryptoworld got a lot of attention the last weeks. Open Coinmarketcap.com and take a look at the #50-100 cryptocoin names. OK? Then take a look at the names #1-50. You probably noticed that the names of #1-50 are more serious minded. Now put yourself in the position of someone who read about cryptocurrency the first time and is looking at coinmarketcap.com. Those people probably never heard of mining either and don't have the time or don't want to dig deeper. There will be some people who will dig deeper and start mining XYZ Coin. Maybe some people made some coins and start trading on exchanges. Those people will not study the forum and announcements on a daily basis. They don't care about difficulty, blocks etc. - they just have some fun trading coins. Remember - I am talking about the people who are new to the cryptoworld. So where do those people invest/trade their coins? Of course they make their decisions by acting on instinct. For them the coin details (block, diff etc.) is just "nerd stuff" and they go along with the best name. You and I must admit, that oilcoin is a good name.

You are wrong on just about everything you posted above. I don't even know where to start so make it easier for me by
saying what part of your story you wanna see proven wrong first.
4052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MediterraneanCoin - REUSE your ERUPTER!! new hibrid PoW algo! on: January 05, 2014, 10:25:31 PM
For solo mining without LP, in CGMiner reduce scantime to 1 second and queue to 0 over (S)ettings menu.
4053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MediterraneanCoin - REUSE your ERUPTER!! new hibrid PoW algo! on: January 05, 2014, 10:22:40 AM
are there any mining pools for this coin? i have a windows os running a BFL 5GH/s and was wondering if anyone knows how i could setup this for solo mining too. please help.

also i tried downloading the wallet for this and my virus scanner flagged it. does any1 know about this?
thank you

If you know how to make BFL Jalapeno or whatever is the name work with CGMiner than there should be not many problems
for you to setup MED solo mining. Check for info on MED website and around then let us know at what stage you stucked. As
for viruses I have detected none.

What's the current network hash of the coin? Are a lot of people mining it?

Current difficulty is 586 which relates to around 42 GHashes if formula (diff * 2^32 / 60) is used. It is adjusted math based
on Bitcoin formula that can be found at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty I think there is at least a dozen of miners right now.
It is still the right time to get a lot of coins for cheap, with as little as 1.65 GHashes I'm getting at least few blocks per hour.

EDIT:

At the time of writting and editing this post network difficulty went up to 938 which means that since previous difficulty retarget
(from 342 to 586 if I can recall correctly) mining was going on with around 68 GHashes on average.

No, that is not it. There is also thing called clash with reality. Like when you have 1+ million people buying into something
based on nothing but asumption that value will go and stay up at all times but reality clearly pointing to different scenario.

Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sea_Company to hopefully realise that no one will save QRK once reality kicks in.

Okay, that is just something pulled out randomly by you. So I'm just going to ignore.

Perfect! End up scammed and holding the bags, dumbass. Fuck it, go lose all your money on shits to the point you can't live
any longer and die from starvation, I'll fucking celebrate.

Bellow is one more link for you. I'm leaving this debate, there is obviously no one worth wasting my time here any longer.

"The company was also granted a monopoly to trade with South America, hence its name. At the time it was created, Britain

trade would take place ..."

There is a cryptocoin war going on, you know. You might want to check the URL, the name of this forum and numbers like
visitors count and so on and then compare with QRK forum if it actualy exist. Thinking that you will win while you are still
on enemy territory, massively outnumbered by enemy forces, is just stupid.

TLDR - The reason why QRK and most other unneccessary altcoins appeared in the first place can be found in reasoning of
the owner of this forum, as you can read in my signature. I have clashed with him on the matter a few times but in the end
he is actualy quite smart person, who understand that those who can not use brain should be scammed. That's so natural!
4056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Those bitcoin weirdos might just be right - Bitcoin Litecoin & Quark (Article) on: January 05, 2014, 01:16:25 AM
Quark

Max Keiser and major Quark promoter on YouTube and most other Quarkers are people who actualy have no clue about
cryptocoins. Fall for their dumb stories and unless you are experienced trader you will be left with bags full of crap coins.

Can you inform us Quarkers that have "no clue about cryptocoins." I'm interested in hearing what solid evidence you have so I can make more of an informed decision about Quark. Right now you have said nothing to back it up. Just base off of the Quark community and how resilience they are Quark looks extremely promising. I ask as respectfully as possible. Give us a solid evidence about why Quark is bad and not just "oh QUARK BAD BAD BAD."

OK, noob, I will reveal it to you some things about Quark. When it came out not many people were interested mainly because
it was CPU only mining which usualy means BOTNETs gonna rip it appart and drive exchange prices to nothing. That exact thing
happened quite fast and you could buy QRK for 0.000001 BTC and even less. That is when I bought 100,000 QRK for 0.1 BTC.
Not because I think QRK is awesome but because I'm experienced trader, person who buys when everyone else panic sell, and
I'm around here long enough to know altcoins just don't die easy. Then, to my surprise, Max and some other "in-the-know" guys
started promoting Quark to extreme, pushing it up in the sky as a most secure altcoin or whatever, completely missing the topic
of total hashrate (as a prevention from 51% attack) and almost all other important matters. Quark uses how many, 8 hash algos?
Big deal, not! But don't listen to me, listen to tards like Max Keiser, he knows what will happen, like 5% times (you might want
to check dozen or so his older videos to realise how full of shit he really is).

Anyway, thanks for being greedy and buying into already overpriced altcoin that is actualy going nowhere. I have cashed out of
it already and now I'm waiting another bottom or near bottom to invest in QRK (and other currently overpumped altcoins) again.

Cya at around 0.000001  Grin

I support Max Keiser, Bill Still & Quarkcoin.
Quark works smooth, and fast. Lots of community support behind it, with people that have intelligence and enthusiasm.

Feature request - Coin Control. Not being able to pick unspent inputs as outputs for some transaction is a major issue in
my opinion. When sending 10 MED to people on giveaway thread current wallet was refusing to make transaction with no
fees. It practically forced me to pay fee even though I know there are dozens of unspent inputs which are two days old
and thus should be fee-free. For some BS reason, MED wallet and other wallets without Coin Control tend to use newest
unspent inputs (the youngest incoming transactions) instead of oldest ones.

Big thanks in advance!

Even if not, there is "There will be no software required, the entire network will be stored in our quick access online servers"
part which means centralized shit all over again. At any point they might close accounts, deny transaction, just steal cash.

Whoever send them money is using the wrong forum. Please move to PayPal forum or, even better, ask for medical help, thx.
