This thread turned the: how to downclock the SP20....  Lips sealed

I'd like to push them to as much ghs as I can....

Any ideas to improve cooling?

What I see the stock heatsinks are too small to keep the asics cool for countinous 1700ghs.

I was able to reach it for a while but I needed 15-16 C intake.

The average what I can get is 1590-1660 ghs stable, but with 120C asics at the back of the machine.

Are here anybody who not downclocked them and tried something out?

 Smiley

Edit: my fans on 100% and i don't care the noise.  Cool Lips sealed

yeah you want 1700gh fans at 100 and air temp at 10c with a solid 1200 want psu.

Now  if you really are truly desperate for that 1700 mark  build an open case and use a fan on each heat sink.  make sure the air is 10c.

I can do it but my power cost makes it stupid for me to do.

lay the 1st board then the controller then the second board

1 board                                                  2 board
_________                                           ________
 HS HS           ----------controller--------    HS HS
_______                                              ________

 ^^                                                             ^^
fan fan                                                     fan fan

the above lay out  would allow for much better cooling.  you void your warranty but have the satisfaction of 1725gh at 1250 watts

I heard they were going to go comercial hosting only ie box with blades 10 blades to a box each blade 10k or some such

in other words the RUMOR I HEARD is they are getting OUT of units for home use and kinda sorta hosting sold units to commercial firms and or rates
*ie stuff that needs to be hosted* due to power and cooling requirements

(probably wrong but what I heard)

bums me out the only trustworthy bunch out there in the world imho

wanted an SP20 but at 1200w with a Titan now and 100 amp service etc just can't make the $$$ fly with the numbers
of btc made

so it goes

dude why on earth do you think it uses 1200 watts.

if you just clock it to 1275 you will be at 700 watts.

forgetting your power supply limits for 1 minute .

1200  watts high clock does   1650gh
700   watts low clock does     1275gh
470   watts  lower clock does 1025gh
400   watts  lowest clock does 900gh

the  record low  is here  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=896161.msg9953144#msg9953144

can you do 700W/1275gh on a CX750M or have to go to a 850W power supply? i have four Corsair 750M, so it matters.

my figures are plat or gold     psu's  700 watts at 1275 is  possible on them.

I think the cx750m is bronze IIRC.   I would shoot for 1200gh with that psu.

no luck with 100ths, will continue with 4ths for now..

good luck.  as for the 1 sp20E it is mining at 1.2 or 1.3 th  about 1644 to 1 chance today

nice one more quick one plz WinkBTC

under 86 hours would be good .  I think that  would bring us very close to Jan 1 2015.  I would love to get a block before that.
40505  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 17 to Dec 29th diff thread (-0.32%) to (-0.12%) on: December 28, 2014, 07:33:16 PM
yeah looks to be 4% maybe 5%.  but and here is the big but  what will the next 2 do?

I thought the jump in hashrate would be more delayed this round. so instead of 2%, 7%, 4% i think it will now be: 4.25%, 5%, and 3%

lots of equiment coming onlin in the next 3 weeks as the SP20 and S5 compete for price dominance. however, BTC<$350 means that its unlikely to see anything capable of <0.6w/GH selling at <1BTC/TH necessary to be profitable for most users.

4.25 then 5 then 2 or lower I hope.  this would mean  about 44.5m around the end of this month.

factors like coin price will matter a lot.

also the s-5  needs to be a .51-.55 miner  if it is a bomb  that leave the home miner with only the sp20E as a sane choice to mine with.

also I have not been using the bitcoinchart numbers

they tend to merge into the middle (say +2.4% this time)      but the last few jumps of negative have been off from that a bit.

I was not shocked this jumped has happened.

What will shock me is if the two after are more then 5% back to back.
40506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 28, 2014, 06:22:28 PM
I did a fan mod for 1 sp20.

I pulled the fan out completely and added a silverstone to the external end of the miner.  this is the fan

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it allows sound to drop to 60db and run about 1150 vs 1000

I can hash at 1158gh

all temps are good

I got a ups notice the s-5 arrives on monday. I will set up a thread on it in a day or two.

Same here.  Although I may not be able to get it until Wednesday because of the holidays.   Angry

here is hoping it works well.
It would be a good way to end the Year If I get it on monday and it runs nicely.

Philipma...am I right in reading that your efficiency is 0.39???

no that is another miner running at lower clocks in a colder area.

for the most part my sp20's do 460 to 490 watts and  1025 to 1075 gh.

So I am just under .48 at the kwatt meter.

this one is using 460 watts   or 460/1015 = .448 watts a  gh at the kwatt meter

this one is in a spare bedroom the others are all in my attached  garage since I have 7 in their it is warmer and they do a little worse around .48

i also think that your intake temp is too high, it should be bellow 25 degree
that would be nice but is not going to happen. 25 c = 77 f  when I run multiple sp20e's in the attached garage  the room is 30 c or  about 86 f

this is a pool only in the sense that we use ck to run a  solo server for us.

So all of us combined allow a block to hit often enough to pay   ck for the use of his server.

If you mine solo truly solo you need to run a pc /server blockchain  and a miner.  so the server need to be pretty fast and costs more power.

We all agree the ck's solo server  is worth a fee from the blocks hit. that is the pool so to speak.

@ck  I am going to run a sp20E at the pool for a while.

It is clocked to do about 1th do I need to do anything special in order to get the correct hashrate?

dimaforwork is an an account of one of our sw developers.

when I get the next 2 I will be back to 9 in house.

I will send all 9 to mmpool.org I would like to see if it does what the s-3's do on that pool.

Ie the first 8 work and the 9th miner does not mine at mmpool.org or the rollover pools.  Not quite the same as the other guys problem but in my case  8 good the ninth bad.  It the other guys case he had 9 pools listed on 1 sp20 was good with 8 not with nine.

I find that interesting .
40516  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 28, 2014, 03:50:54 PM

try backing down the .77 to .75   yeah you may stay at 1600 but more stable   show us this page

see all of mine are 85c due to under clock  if you have a lot of 120 or 125c you are just a bit too much overclocked

As requested.  I find it strange that I have such a variance in temps...or is that normal?

no    the  heat sinks   are

_________         ____________

air flow >>>>>                        fan air flow >>>>
_________         ____________

So the air  from the back two heat sinks gets pulled past the front two heat sinks thus   two sets of numbers are always a bit higher.

You are close to perfect with your numbers  that one with the 120 is setting 4.

you could set the startup volts  to .685 for number 4 and drop the watts setting by 10 watts.

then check you asics again.  if you get all at no more then 115 you are good to go.

I am running 7 in my garage so high clocks are a no go.   I get about 1100gh an sp20 but I get to run 7 of them using around 4200 watts.

I have high power price of 10 cents in the winter allowing for the bonus heat.
40517  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 28, 2014, 12:45:22 PM
I've been reading the posts and just thought I would throw my 0.0006369BTC regarding temps, psu and hash speed...

I use 1 HP Common Slot 1200W Server PSU with a Gigampz BB per SP20.  I'm not concerned with noise and power is cheap.  I am guessing that the spikes in the "last day" chart is the SP trying to auto correct for the PSU but I'm not sure.  If anyone has some thoughts I'd welcome them.

mine is order 3974   I paid on 12/25

I am hoping for info on shipping soon.

It just became sunday in Israel

1:20 AM IST on Sunday, December 28
Order #3974 was paid too late on Thursday, it should be shipped today. The flight out is tomorrow (Monday)

yeah I had the coins tied up I knew it was going to cost me a few days time for shipping.
40519  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 28, 2014, 10:53:37 AM
Very nice. Incoming temp 11 C helps a lot with the cooling

yeah that 11 c is the key to staying over 1600gh

to anyone that can do this (provide 11c temps)  and has cheap power whynot
40520  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, 1155GH, Jan 8th shipping [Sales Open] on: December 28, 2014, 10:27:11 AM
this page warms the cockles of my old heart   Smiley good to see BMT and SP-T discussing things and acting together.

Well they should. I would say for more then the last 7 months they have been the best 2 companies out there.
There should be room for the both of them.  And miners can benefit from this.
They are so far above :

BFL
KNC
AVALON

It really is not fair to put them in the same post with those 3 companies.
They have sold some decent gear to many of us. Far more often then other companies.

@ bitmain   I am looking forward to the s-5

@ edgar  I woke up this morning and see that maybe you will get some resolution with your issues. That would be nice.

Some advice to both bitmain and edgar   if the numbers are involved are  500 and 1000   just do 750 and then forget it.

if the numbers are  400 and 800  do 600.

I say this  as a victim of bfl and bips and black arrow and I forgot the other one.

1)BFL finally refunded all monies 13.5 months later

2)Bips took .4 btc when btc was worth 1100 usd  they never gave me a dime-  it hurts to pay for my spondoolies with bitpay as bips became bitpay

3) black arrow  via DZcoop grabbed 1300 in btc I was refund 600 in btc due to the drop in btc price---------very similar to your case edgar

4) another DZcoop deal went bust I have never got a dime back about 199

I gave up on Bips -Bitpay
I gave up on That DZcoop deal

The other 2 I call settled.

Although the Bips-Bitpay still angers me as my funds were taken after the 1100 coin hack of BIPS and I have a timeline to prove that.
