4064  Economy / Services / Re: FortuneJack.com NEW Campaign – Earn 0.12 BTC!!! Weekly Payments. on: October 18, 2014, 12:08:25 PM
It will be fair to participants who already signed up not to wait till the first list gets filled. So 1st weeks end date is Wednesday, October 22nd for the 7 participants that signed up. Payments will be made on Wednesday.

From here on payments will be made on Wednesday for those who signed up during the week and followed all of our guidelines. So Wednesday 11:00 PM (Website Time) is the payment date and a start date of the next week.

Those who sign up 2 (or less) days before Wednesday will start participating in the campaign from the next week.

Sounds good Smiley

As promised, the video of KD's presentation @ GrrCON is online!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K9xK5t9ckc

Pretty bold from KD to show his face, we've got to admit that. I've seen a bit os the presentation, and I've saw the part where KD says he feared for his life...

Just one remark about the presentation: some errors of the rpevious administration where childish, and some of the hacks weren't that skilled. But the coins aren't still fully repaid... So it wasn't very nice of KD to "label" some of the stuff as childish Smiley

4068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: October 17, 2014, 05:39:18 PM
Since this has been around for a while, I think it's important to ask... Is there any wear and tear done by this kind of mining, any loss of performance? Specially on SSD's...

Make sure your HDDs aren't parking often, this will kill them fast. If they do, add something like this to 'crontab -e':

Code:
*/2 * * * * echo `/bin/date` > /Volumes/hdd1/keepalive.txt
*/2 * * * * echo `/bin/date` > /Volumes/hdd2/keepalive.txt

Also, ensure plot files aren't fragmented and large enough stagger is used so they're read sequentially. This way tear should be minimal.

For SSDs the above doesn't matter much, reading during mining shouldn't put much stress on them.

p.s. Regarding storj: most ppl I talked to don't like the idea of storing files on their hdds (even encrypted ones). They're afraid of illegal content potentially being stored. Burst doesn't store any real data and many view this as an advantage.

Thank you. As for Windows, any tips?
4069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOTO] Motocoin on: October 17, 2014, 05:35:12 PM

So crypto games are flawed because of BOTS ?

I've had critics in this thread before because of the domination of the bots, this coin was pretty much monopolized by just a few people. But, I don't think this is valid anymore because the price of MOTO has been so low that anyone has had the chance to buy some for little money. So as soon there has been good circulation of ALL the botted coins then this coin could be ready for another stage, marketing, adoption, services, more exchanges, etc. That said it would be so much better if there were no bots at all anymore, then more and more players will come and there would be positive stories around it by itself.

But there is no way to be 100% sure there are no bots... People with will and time are going to find a way to make a bot.

I still agree with the dev's, the current approach is the best. We must keep the bots, but we must make them have the same mining difficulty as humans.

Just to be sure.

Pywallet need Bitcoin Core right ?

It does not, it can be used standalone.

Cannot withdraw my daily payment, and since this is a common problem, I've removed my signature.

Also saw the trust rating... But that wasn't even needed. Too bad I couldn't even withdraw one or two payments.

Someone trying to get out at the wrong time...
4077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOTO] Motocoin on: October 12, 2014, 11:55:15 AM
You need not only to be a programmer but to be a good one. I made this coin but I have almost no idea how to make a bot. Before HMC's hardfork it was easier but now this is very non-trivial. I think we will all benefit if botman will release his bot. Maybe intentionally slowed down version or which sends some part of reward back to him.

A very nice idea Smiley I hope he's around...

These guys are ruining Mintpal with each passing day... Too bad, we'll just have to go back to Cryptsy for our FLT trading, I guess.
4079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOTO] Motocoin on: October 11, 2014, 09:22:11 PM
although that's a very poignant fact I don't care to deny, my concern is really with trying to help stabilize the blockchain.
if anyone has some bots they like to share I'd be willing to give them half of all coins mined

That's everyone's concern Wink

If the bot creator is here, he's not interested in sharing the bot...
