They know the crowd they have so they'd be stupid not to milk them.

Then I guess I'm a part of a very small minority. I'd risk saying most of us who usually write here are that minority...

I found the crowdfund emails surprising as well. I recall they recently ran a token sale, wonder if they need to scale or are just doing a quick cash grab? This is a bit concerning IMO.

Anyone else noticed Wirex is no longer on Google Play? It's not showing up in my installed apps or library on there either. Still on the phone and tries to work when it can be bothered.

Is this a blip that comes and goes? I'm not sure I've noticed it with anything else installed on my phone. The app still takes a full 2-3 minutes before it's usable so perhaps they've run out of coal and favour with Google.

To me that means either:

A. They've given up the app for some reason or,
B. They've made a new app or overhauled the old one so much that the new update needs to be approved

B is more likely I believe? Drop them a line and see what they say. I still see it on iOS

Crypto deposits appear to be down...

EDIT: not down but very delayed

What issues have you had?

I've read so many complaints about wirex bank transfers I haven't done a single one.

It seems to be the primary bone of contention.

My bad for not making a summary. I've basically had an euro withdrawal "lost in the void" for 1,5/2 months. Support wasn't really helpful at first, but given they've ended up solving the matter, I believe the issue was on their banking partner and not Wirex. They've supposedly improved since then, but I've not had the courage to test, to be honest, but I'll likely start needing them more, so hopefully they've got everything working as it should now.

Had a look at their Twitter and forum (they've deleted Telegram not long ago) and I do not see as many complains as I've seen back then. And it seems good alternatives still don't really exist, at least for my use case. Plus, their card works great.
6  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: January 12, 2020, 02:02:14 AM
the fact that they want me to take a pic of my ID with my phone and sending it (I ALWAYS add a watermark in my ID with the words 'for use of XYZ only' to prevent identity theft)

Nothing you said prevents you from submitting your ID watermaked.

That being said, you are free to reconsider, but I believe account termination is something not prevalent enough for it to be considered as a factor for reconsidering a signup.

Given that I came to post here... Anyone doing bank transfers as of lately on Wirex? Wonder if the issues I've had are still "common"

Yes... But for the Visa card only for now, until I see a better alternative

Got my issue sorted. Took them long enough... But it is sorted.
9  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: May 28, 2019, 11:51:40 AM
I might be getting too old for this

Same... But I do understand why this is their communication strategy.

I would have prefered they would have done this via their app notification, but they, at least they did make public they have an issue and are trying to fix it.

And yes, they could have pushed the warning via the app, or email.

Really doubt this is an exit scam.
They have probably more than x100 funds in balances in wallets than what they have in pending banking transfers.
They would probably get either "hacked" of they will have their account "frozen", and empty also when they will go under.

I've had a drink with the guy that is acting as an account for our family business, the longest time it took us for a SEPA transfer to be completed was 4 days and that was an exception out of a hundred.
So it's clear it's their brand new partner fault.

I doubt it as well, but then again, why keep pushing my issue back? It's been long enough, their banking partners cannot be this incompetent (or can they...?). Any why can't they provide me a phone number for them, since the ones listed in public aren't valid? And why doesn't their banking partner reply to my email? This just seems fishy.

For me it's been 3 weeks now.

Yeah, my problem was with the balance, and it's tiny in comparison to yours.
But I was also curious about your issue and seeing this probably I'll also advise everyone I know to not even try the withdraw to bank option.

For now my advice is do not use any Wirex service at all until this is settled
10  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: May 28, 2019, 09:29:35 AM
@unamis76 , no updates?

I've got a problem of my own for almost two days.
I have 1** something euros in the euro account but when I go to transfer to the card the option for "add to funds to card" is most of the time not visible. Restarting the app does nothing, and when it finally appeared although I transferred the money and immediately after the message funds sent from the account to card account I get an instant message saying the opposite.
Getting annoying, I would understand an error for a few hours but days???

Sorry that you're having issues as well Sad

The updates are that there are no updates, really, I've been reminding support day on and off about it and they have nothing else to tell me. They just copy paste more or less the same message saying their banking partner is tracing funds. So they are either:

A: Doing nothing, or
B: Making heads roll at their banking partner, I have no way to tell which one of this is true.

I've tried reaching out to the banking partner, and no reply. I've asked Wirex's support for a phone number from them that actually works and they've not provided me with one, both annoying and very fishy.

That being said, I do want to believe they're not doing some kind of exit scam. However, I have already filed a complaint against them because this is taking too long, and it is simply not acceptable. I'll gladly withdraw the complaint if this is solved asap. If it's not solved, well, I don't know really, but I know I won't stand still.

Keep an eye on their Twitter. This happens all the time. It occurs with GBP too. Last time it took a couple of days from me noticing it to it being sorted.

This is a different issue from mine but does seem to be what stompix is complaining about. But may be a good idea raising awareness of these troubles on Twitter as well.

I'm surprised somebody is using wirex for doing withdrawals to a normal bank account, hope it's not a big sum
I've drawn a virtual limit of 150 euros and I don't plan on having more than that even on it except something very unusual and unexpected happens.

And, you've mentioned Onpex. Since I've never heard of it I searched around and the first result pointed to this..

Nice timing...
Why are they just announcing their partnership now if they have been doing business with them for months?Huh?

Anyhow, indeed not a good sign, just when I've begun to like it

Well, they have the functionality available, so it should work, at least in theory... If they have the service, they should perform it, issues happen everywhere, but they should perform it, and it isn't normal from my experience a SEPA transfer taking so long. Support is unresponsive but I understand that at this point they may be waiting for a response from Onpex.

Funny story is all their other services seem to work without any issues. Except from the app from time to time, but nothing too bad.

And that PR article, absolutely ironic... Hopefully that means my issue will be solved ASAP.

I would not use Wirex for any type of bank transfer ever.

Every single complaint I've read about them regards moving fiat in and out and nothing else. Their banking is clearly of a lower tier.

True, but I've never seen any complain similar to mine, issues were mostly with deposits, as far as I've seen and most of the complains are somewhat old. Regardless, lesson learned, I just hope they get this mess sorted quickly. Unfortunately Wirex was the only fiat onramp I had available when I've made the transfer. Just wanted to give the heads up to everyone here.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: May 21, 2019, 11:41:45 AM
A heads up to all users, it seems Wirex's SEPA transfers aren't working at all. I've made a withdrawal almost 2 weeks ago and the funds haven't arrived. The receiving bank has no record of any incoming transfer, and Wirex's support simply says they've sent it and that I have to check with my local bank. After going back and forth with support they've said they'd check with their banking partner about the transfers' status and haven't got back to me ever since. The phone numbers for them I could find online weren't in service when I tried calling... Their banking partner (Onpex) didn't reply to my contact. Not a good sign. I'm not sure what's happening here.

I'd heavily advise anyone to avoid making any bank transfers to/from Wirex for the time being as it seems their fiat onramp is broken. I'll update everyone here as things progress, hopefully this is sorted sooner than later.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: June 10, 2018, 01:33:02 AM
Poloniex support has pretty much confirmed my previous posts, they cannot release funds to unverified accounts. The thing here is they need to know who they're dealing with... But why they only started caring regarding this now when many of these legacy users have accounts with them for years, some since their inception, is beyond me. So now, suddenly, we are on a list of potential terrorists*

I've been reading the posts here and pretty much the only thing I have to say is, we do not need to file a complaint or put them in court, or anything similar. We'd just waste our time and even more funds (to add to those we all have blocked there), the law is on their side. Poloniex just needs to come out and be accountable for their words, as they've been all these years.

This is what I feared for a long time and I've written countless posts on this forum regarding the issue, regulation is a two sided knife. As I predicted, in attempting to regulate something to enhance its adoption and safety (or purposefully and covertly hinder it), regulators and governments just made the access barrier taller, and made this an even wilder wild west for those who are already in this for the longest time.

I consider my deposit a total loss. I am most likely not going to verify myself, especially when absolutely nothing guarantees I'll be able to withdraw my funds after I do so. I'd consider verifying myself if Poloniex had a fiat gateway. I hope Poloniex has fun with my funds. Go have a beer on me or something... Pretty cool when you're not paying, right? Or give out a bonus to your support staff... Be creative. I guess there's nothing else to say when there's no reason for me to get verified with them. We've been "Poloniexed"

*If I may add an opinion of some sorts, I'm willing to bet large on the fact that no terrorists have ever used Poloniex for illegitimate uses

Poloniex set to delist dozens lots of coins in an effort to be 'legit'. So if you have any of these coins and your account is frozen or coins lost in transit you will probably lose them forever as Poloniex washes it's hands of you.
But on the bright side as they are trying to get a federal banking license, this may give those with problems with Poloniex a bigger stick to beat then with.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/circle-seeks-banking-license-trading-venue-registration-to-expand-crypto-services

So far they've allowed withdrawals of delisted coins. According to how things are at the moment I'm not sure if this will be the truth from now on anymore...

Because they are bankers and bankers are thieves. It's pretty simple really, they think they can get away with it and it looks like they will.

From what I've gathered in the meantime I take it they cannot simply open withdrawals due to regulation for the fact they're probably required to know who they're dealing with. But this doesn't excuse them giving the impression we'd be able to access funds, of course.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: June 02, 2018, 11:50:12 PM
While trying to make crypto less and less of a wild wild west, Poloniex has managed to make things far worse. From their announcement I was too under the impression that withdrawals would be available, which doesn't seem to be true for my legacy account. I consider myself scammed. I'm not sure how the current situation gives any trust to legacy account owners to actually get verified. I hope I can eventually manage to get out, but it doesn't seem this will be possible. I understand the importance of regulation and KYC, however I do not understand why funds need to be frozen when we were given the impression this wouldn't be the case.

In the end, it was my fault, of course, funds not on our keys aren't ours. Hopefully the rest of legacy users don't have a deal breaking amount there either Smiley

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BTCG] BITCOIN GO on: November 04, 2017, 11:00:27 PM
EDIT: user has since paid after insisting via PM. I am not aware if the other people who have offered to fill the bounty have been chosen to do so and if they were paid.

BOUNTIES:
POOL BOUNTIES 15 BITCOIN GO
EXCHANGE BOUNTIES 50 BITCOIN GO
TRANSLATION BOUNTIES 5 BITCOIN GO

bounty wallet 100 Bitcoin Go

I've seen OP refer to bounties in this thread. Before taking on these, please take note that, at least to me, OP hasn't yet paid a 0.002BTC translation bounty (archive link) for his previous project (archive link). I can also provide PM's where the user confirms I've been chosen to fill the bounty and where he states that he's sending the payment, which he hasn't done thus far. Would be interesting to know if anyone else filled the translation bounty for other languages and if they got paid.

News source. This is really good news...
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the withdrawal limit at Poloniex for unverified accounts? on: October 18, 2017, 09:44:20 PM
2000$ limit I think, for unverified accounts. I think they have a thread on the forums, better off asking questions there.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SPV wallets AREN'T safe for the upcoming segwit2x attack on: October 18, 2017, 09:41:41 PM
Full control means a full node, end of story. Anything else is a compromise where you are trusting X to do Y: not good.

Full control means having your own private keys, it doesn't necessarily mean a full node: you can have your keys offline...

You can select what chain you will follow with Electrum Smiley Just use a server that follows your preferred chain.

Exactly this, Electrum won't follow anything, servers that provide Electrum services will.

What's the point in even *having* a consensus mechanism if you're too afraid to let it do its job?

If you think it's better to put a gun to everyone's head and tell them exactly what to run, the consensus mechanism is wholly redundant.  You might as well close the source as well while you're at it.  No one can make any more forks then.  Would that make you happy?

Food for thought.
