@phil

yeah I am going to ship the psu to generalt

and send a few barrel type dc to debitme

I will list an xfx hd7970 that works
2 seasonic 400 watt fanless psu's gold not plat.   they work but have 0 wires

a ton of wires
fans
older ram sticks
dvi kvm switch
 the house just has far too many parts.

Need to rest as I am tired after going through a ton of stuff.

I am going to see star wars tonight and I  do not want to sleep in the movie theater.

seems like yesterday  (1977)  when I saw the first one on Long Island,NY   with four of my cousins

how much for the kvm?

EDIT: i like fans and older ram too, chance to fill some old but somewhat modern (vista machines) boxen to somewhat decent specs so i can donate them to worthy folk.. when you get the chance snag some specs pls.

 oh, and i like wires too:)

i have a full basement, unfinished, to put My Stuff (as opposed to Wifes Stuff). it is a mere 65% full but is due for a cleanout. you should see the 1993 rig parts i have. they run too. but those are for The Museum of Fond Memories, not others.  packrat? why thats my middle name.

even a ZX-81 with 16 kilobyte RAM cart and a sparky printer, and a Vectrex with two controllers and various carts. ahh, the memories!

4065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new ZEC + XMR+ ETH thread builds info links thoughts and photos. on: December 26, 2016, 10:48:03 PM

Anyone see anything wrong with this approach or have any suggestions?

i have found that once ALL gpus are in, reinstall the graphics driver. the reinstall seems to help all the cards, ie the driver install needs to see all installed gpus during the actual install. even if the driver is working and already installed with less cards in the rig.

works for me anyway.

do you deinstall the "old" driver with DDU or something? or do you just install again on top?!

try installing over the existing driver 1st. that worked for me on many occasions. if not then safe mode, ddu, then reinstall. that fixed most of the rest.

4067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 07:38:36 PM

am i the only one who just lets the cards manage their own fan? i dont set anything in the miner as far as fans are concerned.

I've tried that too! Let the AMD drivers take care of fan speed adjustments. However, after a while, one of my cards will always randomly start spinning at 100% speed.

derp.. so much for my theory.

been lucky so far or maybe cuz the rig is in the basement some DO hit 100% and i dont notice.

390s and 380s with 15.12 in the basement. 470 with 16.10.1 upstairs that i would notice but only had it a few weeks.
4068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wolf's XMR GPU Miner on: December 26, 2016, 06:12:02 PM
running into problem , maybe someone have clue whats happening

miner is rock stable with superb power consumption, but from time to time one of cards (random) spins fans up to 100% , i can reset that crazy spinning in afterburner , but then auto speeds are left broken @0% fan speed , and temps are rapidly growing.

using 5x sapphire nitro+ 8gb , win10 , wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4
p.s. i switched from win7 to win10 cause of Error -1 when calling clGetDeviceIDs for number of devices plague , win10 solved issue with unavailable cards.

any ideas ?

I have exactly the same problem, and I've tried about every combination of auto fan/manual fan.

Conclusion: The miner is not rock stable, it is very unstable!

PS: This problem occurs both with wolf-xmr-miner-v0.4 and with sgminer-gm 5.5.4 under Win10 x64 with RX 480 rigs

actualy the same thing happening in Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 too , in claymore miner resets fan to 0% speed itself , wich is even more dangerous.

so it seems there is no reliable cryptonight miners out there unfortunately

That is not my experience.  I am running 11 different rigs with Claymore's CN GPU miner v 9.6 and I monitor them with his Dual Miner Manager 2.1.  I have not experienced what you describe.  Are you specifying a target temp for the GPUs?

am i the only one who just lets the cards manage their own fan? i dont set anything in the miner as far as fans are concerned.

It needs 3 separate bios changes to work. I did get it working

@phill

my gigabyte bios has custom save slots for bios settings, like 10 user defined ones. saves every setting in the bios.can you use something like those when you get a bios setup that works? youll need a corresponding os image to restore the os also.

I have an issue I can not get it to see a m2 ssd

Soo I had a spare 2.5 inch ssd that i used.

If the mobo can not use m2 ssd i do not recommend it.

but I will need to research this issue. maybe I have a bad mobo with a dead m2 slot or maybe the m2 ssd I have is bad.

if anyone gets the evga please let me know if your m2 slot works. Also please mention what m2 ssd worked for you.

@PHIL sometimes the m2 socket shares pcie lanes with the pcie slot near it. cant use both at the same time. maybe thats it?

maybe bios setting?

reading this ENTIRE thread helps. not being sarcastic, its a chore i know, but the wealth of knowledge of many many compac users is in here.

no offense intended but people seem to have to mention this a lot in this thread. my turn this time.
4073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 26, 2016, 02:39:31 PM
@Claymore
 After 9.2 release everything become crazy in my rigs. As you remember I reported to you 9.2 gave gpu0 hangs in all my rigs. Yesterday When I try to find a solution, I have a new problem too. 9.0 and 9.1 began to hang my system. But when I try to mine with 5 vga, there is no problem.( -di 01234 or -di 12345 or -di 02345 any combination less then 6 work without problem)
I can mine with 6 vga ethereum Claymore 7.4. I can mine zcash with 6 vga Claymore 8.0. I checked everything but I couldn't find a solution.

here what i do when things go south.

boot to safe mode. run ddu. reinstall fav drivers 15.12 for pre rx, 16.10.1 or so (NOT the 16.12.x) for rx or rx/r9 rigs.

9 times out of 10 it worked for me.

then use reflect free to make an image backup of the working OS install. goes into the weeds again, restore the image from reflects rescue disk/usb.

SHINY! (firefly reference)

i can only aspire to this sort of miner/case.

at TechPowerUp my miner is in the case gallery. its been voted Ugliest Rig EVAH Smiley

look for "biohazard coin miner".. you will need to replace your eyes and monitor after. fair warning.

it is even uglier now as ive added a 4th card

4076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig PORN on: December 24, 2016, 02:01:46 AM
Ok I'm not proficient at embedding images and don't feel like spending the time to figure it out. Anyways here's my setup... 6 rigs have been added since the video was shot.

you need a certain activity level (like a post count) to imbed images, so i quoted it so it will show up.

like the ceiling vent and that circular fan. pretty sweet setup.

how many CFM are they?

Whats the hashrate on a r9 380? Also is $110 usd or $140 cad good for one of these cards? I'm thinking about buying a bunch of them at this price.
i get 170 h/s on my 380x. 110 bucks for a 380 is god.

Is that stock and how many watts does that use? Also whats the difference between the x and none x?

i pull 175 on v9.2 on a 380 non x. 15.12 drivers on win7. -i 6. 1100/1500 (stock is 940/1400). stock bios, no undervolt. sapphire nitro 380itx 2gb

pulls about 200 watts at the wall

btw i gave away my old btc mining cards, 5830s and 6870s to folks who needed them more. you know, for free.

anyway off topic, sorry.
