well I have one in hand .

One shipping and in Germany

One marked shipped no tracking.

this will give me 3 sp20's

I think I should buy one more. Need some more coins.

I will run 4 sp20's and 4 s-3's

on 3 evga 1300's and 1 evga 1600

should give me  7-8th  and I am done til feb for gear.

Those Sp20's in an isolated room or away from family living? Just cause of the noise.

They are not loud if you downclock.  I would say medium vs loud.  At 70 and 80 settings they are loud.

My fan is set to 40 on the one I have.   my sp20 uses only 730 watts and 1300gh   this is about 0.56 watts

they are also in the  attached garage  so sound isolates from my living area.

I am trying to find the lowest  settings I can do on this machine.

Reminds me a lot of running GPU's back in the day. Underclock saved a ton of power and heat.

hitting this block would be nice Cry Cry Cry
we will pop it very soon and then come back with one right away .
40663  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie needs some advice on: December 02, 2014, 02:19:23 AM
too loud for home use and they are not for a new person.

look into the lessor model they sell the sp20  it is on a black friday-cybermonday sale for $695 usd plus shipping

hi have an office with server room i was thinking of putting it in so noise is no problem, and setup looks easy enough

could elaborate more
 a) why aren't they for a new person?
 b) are they reliable
 c) the is the calculation thing correct?

then you are not "new ".  you have access to a high end place to mine with cooling and venting. my bad to use the word new

the sp30 will burn 2500 plus watts to get you your 4,5th

the sp20 wiil burn 760 watts to get you 1324 gh---- underclocked

if your server room can handle the 2500 watts  the noise and the heat go for it.
40664  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can someone tell me more about how the next difficulty is calculated on: December 02, 2014, 02:02:50 AM
On my cloudminr account I see :

40300030327 Current difficulty
-1.09% in 1 days Next difficulty

The next difficulty is constantly updated on the account, how is it updated?

Bitcoin difficulty changes every 2016 blocks so about every 20,000minutes=333h=14 days so why does it indicated the next difficulty in one day?

PS on top you are very clever you know! Or as Vincent used to say aren't we clever!

we are deep into this diff period block 1900 or so out of 2016

you can read my difficulty threads. they list 3 different predication sources.

future predications can be based many ways. the actual number comes from block rate 1 block per 10 minute is the goal.

so if the network is growing and has normal luck it will solver faster then 1 every 10 minutes... so now over the last 1900 blocks we have averaged almost exactly 1 block every 10 minutes.  so growth  of diff is really close to 0

sent a pm to you

this is the psu

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008G9MX48/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it runs  the 1 unit well

only has pcie  2 wires so if you want to run gear more you need adapters.

I suspect you could run some more gear with it if you know what you are doing.

but this setup is designed to mine 1 s-3 very well at freq 237.5

Crazyguy, imagine that i want to buy a prisma.

I've read the Dogie's guide, what do i actually need to run the prisma?

Suppose that the prisma is fully assembled.

1- Raspberry pi with Cgminer - i've my own
2- Prisma (obviously) - included in your site
3- USB - UART? - could be included in your site ( for what ill use this for?))
4 -Ethernet controller - what ill use this for ? is this included in the prisma buy?
5 - Power supply - not included in your site

3) This is for connecting to the RPI
4) You won't need this if you are using an RPI
5) I recommend the EVGA 1300

here is the evga   1300 on sale

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417478266&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

there is a rebate offer for 15 that ends today brings it under 170

40668  Economy / Computer hardware / [sold]1 S3+ and 1 rosewill fortress platinum psu for sale. Good Deal for newer miner on: December 01, 2014, 07:50:11 PM
Sold

Okay I am in Howell NJ 07731 USA   I am in the process of upgrades to my mining farm.  I purchased 3 sp20's and I am off loading an S-3+  along with a roswill fortress psu.

These are the newer batches that clock better.

I rather you be close to NJ zip 07731 so when I ship it I can ship it cheaply.

so if you want 1 machine that runs well at freq 237.5 and 1 psu that will be able to run it a more efficient  power this is what you want.

this seller on ebay has the best buy it now price for a 'better s-3'  he claims to get 461 gh.  he wants 229 usd for it and no psu.  I will match that price 229 and give you the psu free

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-S3-460-GH-/181597344697?pt=US_Virtual_Currency&hash=item2a480b93b9

I want 229 in btc based on coinbase price

this is about 0.6 btc .
could change at sale price

Don't ask the miner alone the psu alone or any other complicated stuff.

1 miner that does 461 or so

1 psu that will run this miner.

1 cat 5/6 ethernet cable

I will ship free if you are close
send a pm for details and questions.  West coast really costs a lot for me to ship so I rather not ship it to the west coast.

oh 1 psu swtich for the psu.

I will set up your pool and test mine it for you .  I will ship usps priority mail

enjoy it as long as it lasts...

When do you guys usually got tracking for the shipment?

I got in e-mail from sales that my order will ship today but no tracking yet.

6 or more hours later

sorry, i didn't mean to be facetious   Cheesy

happens to us all.  why didn't he read the whole Thread.Huh  What is wrong with him. Huh  I know I will say something clever.!!!!

mind you I think every one that goes on the net and posts in threads

 has
a)   asked what appears to be a dumb question

b) given a snarky answer.

I have done both dozens of times on this site alone.

No harm no foul.

Meanwhile my second one has left Israel and landed in germany.  It is due to arrive in NJ USA on weds. I am waiting for the shipping notice for the third one.

Does anyone want a good s3+ and a rosewill fortress psu. combo.  I will list it on ebay but offer it here cheap. and in the marketplace

okay took a while but I have it running.  I will post back in about 1 hour .

i was doing 1400 on mmpool I am doing 1400 on westhash

I am Just about the same 1403  this is under clocked

But can someone tell me why it's runing at 1.4 Th instead of 1.7+-10%

yes  my watt settings are 180 x 4   = 720 watts  well at my meter 764watts  764/1403 = .55 watts gh   fan at 40   almost loud

if I want to do 1700 gh

my watt settings need be 288 x 4 = 1152  at my meter 1210 watts    1210/1700 =  .71 watts a gh  fan  at 80    very loud

I am  a big believer in underclocking asic's whenever I can.

Interesting news  Wink.
http://www.coindesk.com/spondoolies-tech-ceo-talks-new-asics-blockchain-lottery-device/
Quote
Spondoolies-Tech is currently working on two separate designs: a 28nm ASIC set to launch in early 2015, followed by fourth-generation chips manufactured using an unspecified FinFET node. Most cryptocurrency ASIC companies do not disclose their manufacturing partners and Spondoolies is no exception. Instead of describing the new chip as a 14nm or 16nm design, which would more or less identify the foundry, Corem prefers to use "advanced process" FinFET terminology.

..Corem indicated that Spondoolies has made a conscious decision to skip the 20nm node altogether.
..Spondoolies-Tech has decided to stick with the mature 28nm node for its third-generation ASIC, despite the fact that the company's first FinFET chip will ship a couple of months after rivals will have launched their 16nm FinFET ASICs...He added that the third generation is set to launch in late Q1, or at the beginning of Q2, next year. This points to a March/April timeframe.

smart move   by not tossing a ton of money at unproven 14-16nm asics'

bitfury did this with 55nm  they got very good numbers by redefining design and underclocking/undervoltage of the chips.

I have found in running mining gear underclock/undervolt often rules for profit.

I am still well under .6 watts with the  sp20  about .55-.57 a gh with underclock .  really helps my higher power costs.
40675  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 01, 2014, 02:10:25 PM

I just placed an order.  I did not receive an email.  Was I supposed to?

M

If they are not automatic, the emails from SPT have some delay. You're not the only customer.
Support is with a couple of days delay too, maybe because of the weekend overlapping here .. I still got no reply from my emails relating to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.msg9672671#msg9672671

Meanwhile .. it's crap ... sorry for my choice of words ..
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1qKBcn5zvmaKaouUkfmAUdwErKtw4RTZr

Please tell us which machine failed  in your case it looks like you had an sp30 or sp31

as for 2 day delay.  fri and sat they are closed.

I have the sp20 it is very good after 1 week so good I ordered 2 more.--------------I underclock mine to 760 watts and 1324 gh I use mmpool.org to mine

I tested with btcguild and with westhash both good.

It is important to let people know what is wrong and what is right about a company products.
40676  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 01, 2014, 01:00:41 PM
It is probably too early to downclock SP30 (it will be more urgent at 80 bil difficulty), but did anybody try?
Since my machines are at the hosting sites, I was somewhat limited to try various settings.
However, is there a table from SPT that is sort of a guideline or some other reference?
Thanks

The most basic and easier way to do it is to limit the PSU to whatever you wish your miner to consume.

Is this really the best way to go? Specifications call for variations of the ASIC voltage (within 0.63-0.8V) if I remember correctly.

I used to lower the voltage in order to get to the desired W/GH, but jtoomim tipped me that each chip is different and limiting their voltage isn't the best way to do it. By limiting the PSU each chip can run at it's optimal voltage.

OK, sounds interesting. What was the approximate PSU limit to get to 0.55W/Gh for SP30? I have seen this number (0.55/Gh) being mentioned here somewhere.

I got it with an evga 1300 g2    right now I am getting 730 watts and 1324 gh.    but this was with the sp20

Temp Front / Back T,B
33 °C / 69,65 °C
Fan Speed
40
Start Voltage
0.655 / 0.655 / 0.633 / 0.633
Max Voltage
0.664
Max Watts
180 / 180 / 180 / 180

don't do that fan setting  try 60 and in a few hours check your temps
40677  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining newbie. What would you do if you did not pay for electricity? on: December 01, 2014, 04:27:29 AM
I am interested in mining. I have a decent amount of money to throw around and my one buddy wants to help. I talked to someone and they told me script is the way to go. I am getting the idea that I would get into a pool as well. Can anyone tell me what would be the best way to mine the most coins profitability wise minus the electricity? In case someone asks, lets say I had 25k to play with. Also how can I tell what machines/how many machines can be going at once without popping a 30 amp breaker? Would I be better going with a great hardware over time or with script? Thanks for any help you can offer.

simple answer is 30 amps of 120 v or 240 v     ..

I will do you math for free:

 30 x 120 = 3600 watts    75 % of that = 2700 watts
 30 x 220 = 6600 watts    75% of that = 5400 watts

you want sp20's on sale at spondoolies-tech.

if you underclock   and have 120 volts power you can do 3 units  and pull 2300 watts hash 4th

if you underclock and have 220 volts power you can do 6 units and pull 4600 watts hash 8th

cost = 814 a unit to the usa that counts shipping  so    3 x 814 = about 2500  you need 3 psu's  good ones

 http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417408332&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300+g2   3 psu's are about 550 some  wires a switch a router

so you are at 3050 make it 3100 and you run 3 units doing 4th

or you are at 6200  make it 6200 and you run 6 units doing 8th

free power and the net for free and cooling free.

if you do the smaller with your free power

3100 usd in by   dec 2015    you would be paid off and ahead around 1200 usd

6200 usd in by   dec 2015  you would be paid off and ahead around 2400 usd

most likely the above is conservative .  but If I was to offer consulting advice I would have to say that is a lot of power to get for 'free'   so you better understand that if that power cost 10 cents a kwatt it would be:

2000 usd  if you were doing the 3 sp20 method
4000 usd if you were doing the 6 sp20 method

so after 1 year a new startup would lose 800 usd or 1600 usd if you have no parts to start with.

general question I have 1 sp20 right now and 2 on the way.

do they auto set the ip to an empty spot? or do they all come pre-addressed   to 192.168.0.xxx?

I believe they all have DHCP enabled, meaning, whatever IP is not leased out by your DHCP server (router/gateway)

thanks for the info BTW it is much easier that way.

You're free to post here as long as you use thumbnails or a link to an album. My unit keeps going low hash rate every few hours before resetting, but I think its the controller. I'll try and swap mine over later.

but to start it it can't be cool so I had to close the garage door let the s-3 warm the area up to start it then open the garage door once it started to keep it cool.  that is finicky
