4082  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it worth to mine with my old computer on: July 23, 2015, 04:54:14 AM
I have a computer which will not used, however, it is about 4-5 years old already,
is it worth to use it to mine BTC?

If yes, how much will I expect to get in 1 month Huh

Not only it is not worth but is impossible to mine bitcoins with a computer. It is impossible to mine with a new computer. To not speak here for a old one.

It's NOT impossible. Even when we were to where it was "impossible" to GPU mine, someone hit TWO blocks with a USB miner. It's basically just the lottery. Claiming it's impossible is naive. Are you likely to? No. But if you feel lucky, go for it.

Were talking very very low odds though.  If you just use a old pc and no asics on mining BTC it is going to be just horrible odds.  You can use a few old block erupters and be more of a lotto machine.

If you are going to do it get a raspberry PI you will pay it off in electricity savings.  And you can run the lotto machine there with a few usb miners.  Chances are you will never hit a block... but if you get very lucky not impossible.

I'll second the idea of a Pi and USB miners. Even if you never hit anything, that's ridiculously cheap (even the USB drives are pretty cheap, should be a couple dollars each at this point).

Couldn't agree more! And people don't know this, but TF was also in the middle of launching a new venture when he went rogue -- I still don't understand why he did...

And I also have funds I push to PeerBet and a couple others, Smiley.

I guess an inherent problem with a site that hold too much users money is the financial incentives start aligning going rogue.

For instance if you compare my two sites: bustabit and moneypot. Bustabit is completely self bankrolled and typically holds ~20-30 BTC in players funds, but makes 30-50 btc a month. Stealing players money, or doing anything to jeopardize it's legitimacy would be totally retarded.

Now take moneypot, at the moment it's probably only makes me a bitcoin a month or so, but holds >125 BTC of other peoples money. If I was less scrupulous, it offers the ability to undetectably steal from investors and if I doubted it's long term prospects going dark might be attractive.

Fortunately however, I'm not a psychopath and optimize for a lot more than financial incentives. But that's something that I can't ever prove and even if assuming it's true there's other ways you can lose your money with me (gross incompetence, me getting hit by a bus, someone putting a gun to my head). All cases I want to improve protection for players though =)

Anyway, I don't mean to alarm anyone or anything. I just cringe a little every time someone downplays the risks.

And of course, I think moneypot has ridiculous potential and I'm extremely invested in it's success =)

Do you happen to take investments for Bustabit, btw, or is there some method of joining in? Smiley

you should've tried to dox him months ago.. he could've moved somewhere else after he was marked a scammer.  Undecided

Interesting thing is even after being marked a scammer, he was still in constant contact with me. In fact, the last day he was online (according to his log) was the last time we spoke.

One more important question , Are you sure that Game tokens aren'tb ugged or something ? when Iwas playing on Italy map I got like 10092 tokens or something then when I played on Dust 2 , Cache and a third map (not sure the name) Tokens can't seem to change . when I left and I clicked again "Join" on the website once again and rejoined , I got another 3k of game tokens ? :/ Do I get 3k each time I join the game ? or the reset is when I play + leave and come back because while playing 3 maps (one after another)didn't got any tokens .. can't seem to understand at all Shocked

I'am more then sure that tokens are really well calculated . Do they work with bots too or only with players ?? confused to hell right now since they aren't increasing at all .

I do not understand what you are trying to say. The monetary system is the same as it is in any (casual) CSGO game, working fine.

You received 3k tokens upon rejoining because the round ended and you received the round win/loss bonus, this is always how CS has worked:)

At the end of a map your game tokens are moved into your vault. Anytime you leave/disconnect from the server your current game token balance is moved to your vault. Read the message of the day shown every time you join the server and say !vault in game text chat. http://hyper.microngaming.com/vault.png

GLHF!

On the question of CS:GO and rewards, how does the reward system work (in terms of the actual rewards per loss/win, in HYPER)? I've thought about getting CS:GO to give it a try and help HYPER get some more players on board, but wondering how viable it is to get the cost back.

http://www.cashncarry.info/servers/csgo-servers/csgo-info

As a new player with no CS experience it would take months to recoup the cost of CSGO itself. As a veteran CS or perhaps other FPS player it could be recouped in a week.

I have bought gift copies for friends from key4co.in . The prices are less than steam charges and delivery has always been within 10 minutes.

Awesome link. Thank you!

Nice Site with good presentation.
I have registered but can't seem to find any freerolls...

Read the last few pages here. The site has no freerolls at the moment and it is somewhat in limbo as a whole.

I just realize the withdrawal fee are 50.000 satoshis..
Any plan to lower the fees?

I believe this is in response to the blockchain attacks (which are basically forcing people to pay more in fees to get transactions through). So until that lays off, I think we're stuck with it how it is.

This is correct. We have been advised by our provider (block.io) that due to the recent blockchain attacks we are recommended to pay a transaction fee of 0.0005 BTC to ensure high priority, i.e. quick confirmation. Anything less than this and there are likely to be delays in the withdrawal.
We will of course reduce this back down, if and when it is advised that this is ok.

Would it be possible to set a variable fee and let the user choose? This may help as a better option. That way those that aren't in a hurry can pay the 0.0001, and those that need it now can go with 0.0005+.

This is on our development to do list, but is fairly low down on the priorities at the moment.

Completely understand -- it's good to know it's on the list, though!

CPC-wise, have you considered doing it like another person had asked earlier (pooling all CPC-enabled spaces together like you do for network ads, rather than making each advertiser choose specific slots)?

When exactly did you lend him money? Looking at his trust summary, he defaulted on a loan from haploid23 roughly 9 months ago. If you lent him money after that, then I am not sure what you were expecting.

06/18/2014, so 13 months ago.

4091  Economy / Scam Accusations / Anyone Know bl4kjaguar? on: July 23, 2015, 12:27:48 AM
I, like others, got hit by bl4kjaguar, who had an EXCELLENT reputation (with many thousands of 100% positive ratings on LocalBitcoins). Essentially, he took loans from a few of us for his LBC business, since he was buying and selling bitcoins for profit. He ended up (or so he claims) deciding he knew a "faster" way to get profit, and threw everything he had into a coin's ICO, which flopped right after (and the one he did was clearly a scam to begin with, but he claims he felt that it was a sure win and he was going to dump them as soon as they went up in value).

He's since then given a lot of stories, including asking for more loans:

1) He asked for a loan so he can get his business off the ground again
2) He asked for a loan because his "wife" is "beautiful" and would be a great model and all they have to do is move to LA to make it happen, but don't have the money to do so

He also claims he owes others money. I'm aware of at least one on the forums, and he claims h'e also indebted to his family.

I tried to be lenient and give him time. He's now been away from the forums for over a month.

So here's what I'd like. If anyone dealt with him in person (he did a lot of in-person LBC transactions) or knows more information about him, can you please share it so we (as his debtors) can pursue him? With his thousands of ratings, I'm sure someone has information about him.

Thanks, guys, and this goes to show you that even someone with a stellar reputation can go rogue at any time.

Earn bitcoin

- join a signature campaign here
- sell stuff (cryptothrift)

Invest Bitcoin

this depends on your risk level. altcoins or HYIP are super high risk with medium/good rewards. make sure to do some research before you invest.

Also add in doing services. Just like the real world, if you can deliver value to others, you can make it profitable. Don't look at Bitcoin as being a "get rich quick" scheme. It's no different than fiat.

Is Krill rewarded based on individual rake contribution, or divided based on all dealt players?

i.e., let's say 1 krill = 1 chip in rake
There's 5 people on the table
3 fold, leaving 2
Those 2 build the pot up enough to bring in 5 chips worth of rake

In this scenario, is it:
1) Each player gets 1 Krill (5/5=1) or
2) Players 1-3 get nothing, the two that stayed in each get 2.5 (5/2=2.5)?

It is divided to all players dealt in to the hand.  The formula for Krill is:

√(rake) multiplied by (5 / players dealt) then multiplied by any other bonus factor currently in effect and finally rounded down to the nearest tenth of a Krill

Thanks for that. So essentially... (let's assume a 6-person table)

The minimum rake would be 9/625 (0.0144) to get credit (sqrt(9/625)*5/6=0.1).
The minimum pot for this rake would be 0.576 (2.5%*x=9/625).
Breaking this down for 9 players would result in a minimum pot of 1.296.

So it IS possible to gain Krill on the micro-stakes, so long as there are 6 or fewer players and the pot gets to 0.576 (or a pot of ~1.3 chips with 9 players).

All of this is also excluding the bonuses.

Just wanted to share this in case someone finds an error with my math or, like me, is curious as to what ends up gaining Krill, Smiley. I was actually under the impression it was nearly impossible on the lower stakes to gain it (like with most sites), so this was a big eye opener!

Yeah, you can earn Krill on the lower stakes.  Your math seems to be right to me at first look.

The only level that you can't is the .01/.02 tables because they don't take a rake.  Above that the pot has to be at least 0.4 chips for rake to be taken and Krill to be possible.

Do we get table starter rakeback on OFC?

No, Tablestarter applies when playing 2 or 3 handed at tables with 6 or more seats.

I wasn't aware that 0.01/0.02 don't take rake. Interesting choice, as that's where a lot of people push all-in with nothing.

Need more whales!

Moneypot's game seems to be getting the attention of whales lately. Some whales decided to visit Betterbets thus making a record of over 1000 BTC wagered in 4-5 days , things is keep going better and better. What moneypot need is more investor to invest in the bankroll, this is to faciliate huge bettor. The only downside to attract whales for now would be the low max profit in the site

For what it's worth, I've been pushing small amounts to MP as I'm able to, Smiley. Slowly building my own investment there.

On a percentage-gained scale, investing into moneypot has been a really good investment over the past few months. While this doesn't predict anything for the future, it's a nice investment option in the Bitcoin world. At least you can be pretty much 100% sure that it's not a scam and that you won't be burned by a suddenly disappearing coin-dev.

We thought that about TF, as well, who ran a successful business for many months (and one for well over a year), so it's still not really a guarantee, :p. That said, I personally trust Ryan, and therefore the MP platform.

Sure, there is not absolute guarantee in these matters. However, after talking to Ryan quite a bit, I'm pretty certain that he has solid long-term plans, so this is probably about as safe as things get in crypto-land. However, having said this, you should never put all your eggs in one basket  Cool

Couldn't agree more! And people don't know this, but TF was also in the middle of launching a new venture when he went rogue -- I still don't understand why he did...

4096  Economy / Services / Re: (GAUGING INTEREST) A bitcoin Get-Paid-To site! (LOOKING FOR MEMBERS + INVESTORS) on: July 22, 2015, 10:59:15 PM
I've replied to all PMs as of now.  I know you investors are looking for numbers, but that's something we really can't provide until after the site launch.  Please note by then, the shares will definitely cost more.  If you want to invest PRE-LAUNCH, please PM me here.  The reason we do not want to provide estimate numbers is because well, there is a possibility that the numbers will be off and we don't really want that.

Numbers being off is the norm. Ask anyone that's made a real investment in a company. The reason I backed out is because you apparently don't have a business plan in place. You need to draft a document that contains things like:

1) The market you're targeting
2) Your competition
3) How you plan to separate yourself from the competition
4) Estimated revenue based on good/bad scenarios
5) Risks involved with the type of business
6) Exit strategy and/or growth plan
7) Amount of investment you're targeting in the beginning
Cool Your experience in this field, pertaining specifically to this business. Also include any other people that work with you
9) Contact information, for questions or issues

Among many other things. Some of us could bankroll your entire operation if we wanted to, but I won't even talk to anyone about a business that hasn't supplied a business document (and have no problems signing an NDA).

Do you mean CS:GO case keys or CS:GO game key? This are all Steam gifts, not keys. I restock games mostly on sales.

Game key -- I haven't really gotten into CS but may pick up CS:GO due to the HYPER tournaments.

ROW or "Rest of World" means the game can be activated and played anywhere, it has no region restrictions (RU/CIS/IN/BR/US etc.)

Awesome, thanks. Do you happen to get new keys in stock over time as well or is this pretty much a one-go? I may be interested in a CS:GO key.
