4081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The First coin of 2014 (AHC) AnHeroCoin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: December 31, 2013, 09:55:21 PM

Wow. What a lovely meme. I care what this coin is worth. I'm not mining it. More for everyone else I guess.
4082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy v/s Coinex on: December 31, 2013, 09:50:21 PM
I don't hear a lot of great things about Cryptsy. Is it just because it has higher trade volumes?
4083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 31, 2013, 09:44:41 PM
Move over Dogecoin, there's a new contender in town.

[...] At the time of writing one Catoincoin is over 200 times more valuable than a single Dogecoin, being valued at 0.001049 BTC per coin, compared to 0.00000058 BTC per Dogecoin. (Source: https://coinedup.com/). [...]
200? Those values add up to one Catcoin being worth as much as 1800 Dogecoins.

Also, the Dogecoin comparison is good as an opener, but I would take out the comparison towards the end:
Quote from: Nullu
Just a week since launch and this new digital currency has gained the same attention as Dogecoin once did
This was already stated exactly that way as an opening statement and you've already expressed that we're taking it one level further than doge. The rest of the last paragraph is really strong, I like it.

Quote from: Nullu
Catcoin more closely resembles Bitcoin in terms of its overall mining difficulty and circulation
It's actually the same as far as I know, maybe we should emphasize on that?

Just a few thoughts, overall I like it so far though  Smiley

Also the glaring fact that DOGE is a poor investment. With 50 BTC a day of coins being dumped by miners it's not going to let the price rise for at least 6 weeks at block
halving. Even after halving it's still 25 BTC a day dumped.
CAT has only about 10 BTC of coins being made per day.
720,000,000 million doge dumped per day OR 9,000 CAT. You pick.

With 160-260 BTC of volume per day so far... where will people get their coins? Not from miners. They will have to buy them
from sellers. Where are the sellers? They are shrinking in supply as price rises.

Are you saying the market is drying up?

For what?

A market "drying up" would mean no volume.
CAT is one of the most traded ALT coins in the world.

You don't want a coin to be mined to hell. DOGE dumps so many mined coins on it's buyers that the price goes down.

CAT is more like BTC. The same actually. So high volume of CAT + low coins being made = price rises.

So..as coins continue to exchange hands, and sellers continue to sell their coins, and the coins gradually become more scarce on the market, the value will naturally increase with demand, meaning minting (mining) will in turn also increase to match the demand on the market which is a result of the gradual decrease in available coins for sale?

That sound about right?

Thanks for the criticisms. I took the current coinedup value of catcoin, and divided it by the current coinedup value of dogecoin. That's how I arrived at the value. Did I get the calculation wrong? Thanks for the other suggestions. I'll work on re-writing a second draft of it tomorrow and I'll post it here, if it looks good to go I'll start emailing it out to blogsites.

I haven't received a payment in quite a while from the pool I'm in either.
4087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 31, 2013, 09:17:28 PM
If you look at the trade history it was specifically driven down. 1 cat coin trades dropping the price each time. Eventually got down and un-knowing people or people just too dumb notice the price and traded out. Silly f##$$ers. Once I get my 10 btc transferred over from btc-e Ill be doing some work.

Cryptsy only shows the last two hundred trades. Any way to see further back in the transactions?

This guy wasn't too smart, was he? There's going to be a lot of angry people who want answers.
4089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 31, 2013, 09:04:29 PM
This is so nerve wracking. I don't know which way it's going to go.  Cheesy

Well if youre with CRYPTSY DONT SELL you won't get your bTC in time to reinvest, been over an hour and a half since I should have got my 0.2 BTC from mine sold at 0.001 but instead it decieded not to show, now the prices are beginning to rise again, so thanks to cryptsy I have missed out big time, and might have been ripped off by them

I use coinedup. The site is a big sluggish, but I don't have to wait too long for my exchanges to go through. It's a smaller exchange, but I don't have that many Cat Coins to play with.

Move over Dogecoin, there's a new contender in town.

With the growing popularity and value of Bitcoin in the digital currency market, a new alternative currency has hit the crypto coin scene which has gained the same kind of momentum and attention that Dogecoin did before hitting the widespread media. This new currency, known as Catcoin, has surged in popularity in the last few days, gaining well in excess of 200 pages in the bitcointalk.org forums, one of the biggest crypto currency forums online.

As of writing, the thread has gained 235 pages in just 10 days. Comparing that to the official thread of Dogecoin, which has 454 pages and has been going for 23 days, it's easy to say that a new trend in Cryptocurrency is forming. Unlike Dogecoin, which has a high coin circulation and a lower difficulty level, Catcoin more closely resembles Bitcoin in terms of its overall mining difficulty and circulation, with a maximum of just 21 million coins compared to Dogecoin's astonishing 100 billion maximum. This lower coin availibility makes Catcoin considerably more valuable. At the time of writing one Catoincoin is over 200 times more valuable than a single Dogecoin, being valued at 0.001049 BTC per coin, compared to 0.00000058 BTC per Dogecoin. (Source: https://coinedup.com/).

In just a few short days this coin has already made it onto three well known cryptocurrency exchange sites;

https://coinedup.com/OrderBook?market=CAT&base=BTC
https://www.coinex.pw/trade/cat_btc
https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/136

It's also made its way onto other popular cryptocurrency websites, such as coinwarz, which tracks cryptocurrency trends;

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/coins/catcoin

With the likes of Dogecoin paving the way for cryptocurrency like Bitcoins, but for a mainstream social audience, Catcoin is preparing itself to take that to a whole new level. Cats being synonymous with internet memes and youtube has already meant many new catcoin meme images have been created since the coin's inception, all of which show the potential of Catcoin to find its way into the mainstream public interest just in the way Dogecoin did.

Official Bitcoin talk thread; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=380130.0

Just a week since launch and this new digital currency has gained the same attention as Dogecoin once did, and is poised to become the next big social trend in cryptocurrency. Investors who are looking for the next big thing in cryptocurrency are taking an interest, as evidenced by the trading volumes on several of the currency exchanges Catcoin is now listed on. Once dismissed as a copycat, Catcoin is destined to become as synonymous with Cryptographic digital currency as Cats are to the entire World Wide Web.

I know you guys may not want to hear this but I'm not a fan of that open mouthed baby looking cat as our logo.
I think we can do a lot better.
That cat looks like it's would be something young girls would like.

If you want to appeal to masses you have to be humorous and/or slick.
That is neither.

Also the price is normal. This always happens with coins. Especially new ones with no history yet.
DOGE did the same violent swings.

It's good miner's are leaving. Less coins = more $$. Miner's don't raise the value of a coin. Only lower it
by dumping it.

There have been a few suggestions posted, but there really hasn't been any drive to find out which one should be the official coin.

The things I do for this coin..

Right. I'll be writing an article this evening and sending it to every crypto currency blog I can find. I will post the article here once I've finished writing it.

THIS IS OUR CHANCE.

PLEASE FIND AS MANY CRYPTOCURRENCY BLOG SITES THAT YOU CAN AND LINK THEM HERE. ONCE THE ARTICLE IS WRITTEN PLEASE SPREAD THE ARTICLE EVERYWHERE YOU CAN

Could someone also find some of the Cat Coin meme pics that have been going around? They will be useful to include with the article. Thankyou.

Right. I'm going to go eat, guys. I'm going to think about this new giveaway. I may just start it with the giveaway funds I have left right now and see if it goes anywhere. Need to get some activity going.
4096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 31, 2013, 06:30:08 PM
This may sound selfish, I do no know. I would gladly donate some catcoin, but all of mine are bought with cash, so I daren't give any away. But if I had mined them(which I cannot) and got them all free, I would gladly donate. Sorry I cannot help with donations, I am only a small fry here, and my small investment, is alot to me.

Donations are called donations for a reason; they are totally voluntary. Don't for one second feel bad that you can't donate.  Smiley

Just posting here and showing your support helps.
4097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 31, 2013, 06:27:48 PM
Guys, please be honest and stop asking for donations.
I think now we need to donate to developer and for other purposes - giveaways will be ok.

Stop asking for donations? I hope you're not talking about me.. I've created a forum which ive spent my own money and time into it. Ive donated WELL OVER 500-catcoin on giveaways to get the community together, I've promoted the coin everywhere and answered numerous questions to the newbies, & i cant ask for a few donations to help pay for the cost of running the website which includes paying for advertisements and custom plugins oh and also for other giveaways i will be hosting in the future?

To me that sounds unfair.

Guys. There really isn't any need to argue. We are aware of your contributions CatCoinForums.  Smiley

I'm not arguing it just bugs me that I put my time and passion into something to help the community to come as one, yet a few individuals take it for granted.

One person made an off the cuff remark. It wasn't directed at anyone who is donating their time into Cat Coin. There have been a few people asking for coins lately. I think it was more directed at newbies.  Smiley

Running any third party software that involves your wallet is STUPID, no other word for it.

If you are ignorant enough to use 3rd party software involving your wallet, your DESERVE to be ripped off.

~BCX~

As much as I agree that people need to be a lot more careful, and to be so wreckless with what is essentially money invites scam artists, nobody deserves to be ripped off.

get this on news doge vs cats
doge was world wide on the news
make it happen to cat, those who know how to

I agree it's a great idea. But we'd need to pitch it to a lot of crypto blog sites. I don't know that many. If we can start getting a list together of blog sites about crypto currencies that would be a start.
