4081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Misconception of Bitcoin's Transaction Irreversibility. Bill Gates read this on: February 12, 2015, 09:35:38 PM
The process Andreas proposed is an elegant solution to irreversibility when two parties engage in a trade. I believe this isn't the main problem of irreversibility. Irreversibility is most problematic when coins are hacked or stolen.
This. Once the thieft runs with the bitcoins theres no way to revert it other than catching the thieft. It would be like trying to find cash.
4082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Let Anyone Tell You Satoshi's Identity is NOT Important on: February 12, 2015, 09:33:58 PM
The system is open source, the identity of the author is henceforth unimportant.
4083  Economy / Economics / Re: How will a Greek exit from the Euro affect BTC? on: February 11, 2015, 05:26:11 PM
Nothing will happen because most people don't even know what Bitcoin is and will rather keep their money under the sofa.
4084  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would I only have invested my money in... on: February 11, 2015, 05:17:37 PM
One Bitcoin is still One Bitcoin. That's all that matters. Never look at the price as measured in filthy fiat. Satoshi (pbuh) will come back any day now. Then he'll take the Chosen Ones back to the mothership to deliver us from evil, so that we can upload our consciousness to the blockchain while chanting hymns from the white paper.

If you're a weak hand, you're not a Chosen One.

So how do you measure what bitcoin can buy then?
4085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remote Jobs in Bitcoin Companies on: February 11, 2015, 05:15:16 PM
Whats the average salary in btc? do they pay you in btc? is there a "minimumbtcwage"??
4086  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium removed from Google Play on: February 11, 2015, 05:12:37 PM
Seems like just another example of Google being confused.....this time about miner fees.
I use MyCelium and have for a long time. The service has been great from day 1.

I really hope this doesnt scare new users or would be users from using this wallet...but based off the sentiment of this thread, it looks like some damage might be happening right now.

Unnecessary and unfortunate.
They are fucking idiots. Just like when apple blocked the bitcoin wallet. Everyone that doesn't fully support Bitcoin deserves to go bankrupt.
4087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people think cheap of those who say they want to get rich from bitcoin! on: February 11, 2015, 05:09:58 PM
Imagine if, when the Internet came out, people just bought all of the domain names and held them without doing anything with them*. They knew the Internet would be successful so they figured they'd just buy domains and wait.
Imagine if everyone did that.

All waiting for someone else to make the Internet useful.

*(I know there are domain squatters)

You're not cheap...just useless.
Thats why the bubble bursted and coins got redistributed then actual development started, just like whats going on with BTC.
4088  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dedicated thread for the guys that cry over BTC on: February 11, 2015, 05:04:20 PM
I've been crying lava since I realized I missed the 1K bubble and could have been an overnight millonaire. I still have hopes Bitcoin reaches 10K in 10 years so I dont have to kill myself.
4089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some BTC addresses start with a "3" on: February 11, 2015, 01:38:21 PM
Interesting. My friend was in Bit-x and told me about the 3 thing. It was really weird, I thought it was some sort of altcoin.
4090  Economy / Economics / Re: Total number of bitcoins. on: February 11, 2015, 01:37:02 PM
The collapse is happening, but they are doing everything needed to not cause mas panic, like a demolition man demolishing a building.
4091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin cash? on: February 11, 2015, 01:33:11 PM
Is bitcoin cash?
Paper wallets are pretty close, but that's the wrong question. The question you need to ask yourself is, "how much is the cash in my hand REALLY worth if it doesn't have at least three confirmations on the blockchain?"

Because sooner or later, the answer will be zero.

Paper wallets are the same in practice than any other wallet, because it all ends up in the blockchain.
4092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 20MB Fork on: February 11, 2015, 01:31:05 PM
davout , Can I ask you what is your opinion about this "hard-fork" ? Thanks for the attention.

Not needed right now. While I'm not against - in principle - to the limit being bumped by sane people when, and if ever, *actually necessary*, I vigorously oppose Gavin's proposal of exponential block-size growth. It's either pure madness, or a straight attempt at sterilizing bitcoin by indirectly putting it into reach of governments through increased centralization.
But we will need it eventually if we are aiming for global mainstream use.
A fork then would be much worse than doing it now while its still a geek thing.
4093  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Browser You Use on: February 11, 2015, 01:29:36 PM
Surprised people use Chrome above Firefox.
4094  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you date someone for Bitcoins ? on: February 11, 2015, 01:28:10 PM
Yes, specially if she looks like Kate Upton.
4095  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin better had not go below $50 on: February 09, 2015, 10:43:12 PM
Your are investing in insanely early experimental technology.
If you believe in BTC hold for 1+ years at least and dont panic out if you start lossing money ffs.
4096  Economy / Economics / Re: Total number of bitcoins. on: February 09, 2015, 10:41:45 PM
Let's talk about truth!! No. of bitcoins are 130 Millions..
Mmm, what are we talking about here?

4097  Economy / Economics / Re: How will a Greek exit from the Euro affect BTC? on: February 09, 2015, 10:40:16 PM
I just saw this in the main board
http://yanisvaroufakis.eu/2014/03/13/debating-bitcoin-on-abc-late-night-live-with-phillip-adams-and-andreas-andreopoulos/

Varoufakis consider bitcoin brilliant but he is skeptic.
4098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yanis-Varoufakis-Greece, Bitcoin WILL save them from Europe. It won't be pretty. on: February 09, 2015, 10:32:34 PM
Im extremely interested in the outcome of Greece, i'll listen to this later. But in any case I dont see them making Bitcoin the official Greece coin so to speak. People is too dumb to adapt all of a sudden to Bitcoin. Its too crazy and experimental to make it the currency of an entire nation.
Then again they are in a dead end on the 28th, unless they arrive at agreement with Merkel which is not gonna happen.
4099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people think cheap of those who say they want to get rich from bitcoin! on: February 09, 2015, 10:28:52 PM
Greedy is being considered a bad attitude and the sole aim of getting rich is a pretty basic desire. While other people work pretty hard for their money, they don't want to see other people become rich by doing nothing, they feel this is unfair - which it is. When it comes to investments, people who don't dare to put money into an investment (Bitcoin) don't want it to succeed so they can rejoice not having lost an opportunity while staying safe.

No one works hard to get rich. Its a combination of risk + luck. To get rich you need to beat time. To beat time you need big quick gains. To beat big quick gains you need to risk. To win will risking means having luck.

So buy Bitcoin and good look you'all.
