It took me way too long to figure out that when placing bets on sporting events, you can actually click on the event and get lots more bets. This is where things like over/under and individual prop bets can be found. I thought they used to be accessed from the menu and assumed they had been removed completely. I’m very happy that I now know where individual prop bets are. Those are always my favorites.
4102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 27, 2023, 04:17:05 AM
Every day it seems like I see a new article about another guy being potentially available for a trade with the Lakers. Today it’s “Ice” Trae Young. I gotta admit it would be interesting to see how well Trae would shoot from the arch if LeBron was dishing him wide open passes. I think any development there would be in the off-season though. It seems to me like the Lakers aren’t going to pull the trigger on a big move to try and get a championship this season, but I wouldn’t mind being surprised.
4103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is getting ready for $25K, How? on: January 26, 2023, 10:46:49 PM
I think the next jump could be a larger one. Sure, we have to grind to $25K on the way up, but I don’t see the rally stopping there. When $25K is hit/breached, I think there is a strong chance that it blows straight to $30K. I think the lack of a pullback after this last major jump is evidence that accumulation is still happening and a further increase in price seems highly likely.
4104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 26, 2023, 08:33:39 PM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

People are already so addicted to their mobile phones, I think anything you give them access to on there is liable to end up in addiction.  Look at apps like Instagram and Snapchat.  These are things that people have turned into their lives.  They make friends there, make money there, document their lives there...  It's all a little crazy from an old school person like myself who values privacy.  So yes, I think having gambling apps on people's phones will increase addiction, but to me this is more of a knock on phones than it is gambling.  Businesses are supposed to make their products accessible, but phone producers take no responsibility in the people's addictions.
4105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell off during the 21k price breach. on: January 26, 2023, 08:30:17 PM
Imagine holding from $68K down to $16K only to then sell at $21K?  Who would do such a thing?

In short, no I did not sell off during the $21K price breach.  I will probably sell off a great deal at the $200K price breach, and might even sell some when we break into new ATHs.  When you zoom out on the chart though, it still looks like we're down around multiyear lows.  I don't understand why this would be a selling point, but maybe you think the recession will be bad and assets will tank like in 2008.  Personally, I think the wave of inflation that was set off with all the easy covid free money printing will take a decade to work through the system and we're about to see an investment boom like hasn't been seen in 30+ years.  Sure, short term might be difficult, but anyone with a long term view should be grabbing all the investments of every kind they can get their hands on over the next 2 years.
4106  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Facebook And Instagram reinstate Donald trump's account on: January 26, 2023, 08:15:14 PM
This is sort of funny to me.  Even the liberal snowflakes with Trump Derangement Syndrome are realizing how fucked up this country has gotten under Biden's watch.  They no longer want to engage in shady censorship as they see where it's taken them.  The evidence is coming out showing how elections have been manipulated in every way possible to get Biden elected.  It has been hard getting those who have been bamboozled with fear to realize that they've been conned, but I think all the people dropping dead from the vaccine, the massive inflation, and the liberals touting how great of a job they're doing while liberal cities turn into scenes out of The Walking Dead has been enough to get them to begin to take action to right their wrongs, which we are seeing here.
4107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 26, 2023, 08:08:00 PM
I'm thinking that LeBron will time the schedule carefully when he will break and get past Kareem's record because that moment will be so special for him and the rest of the league, surely he will make it happen when they are playing at home somewhere maybe in the game versus the Bucks or Thunder as LeBron is only 158 points away from Kareem.

If we take into account the fact that LeBron averages 29.9 points per game, he needs to play 5-6 more games to break Kareem's record and become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. So you're right that this milestone in his career will probably happen during the game versus the Thunder on February 7 at the Lakers' home arena. I wonder how much courtside tickets will cost for that game. Smiley

I don't know about that...  Sure, it would be nice to break the record at home and the Lakers have quite a few days off before that game, so if LeBron was looking to put on a show for the home crowd and put up 50 or 60 points, he'll have the rest to be able to make a strong effort and the Thunder are the perfect target.

HOWEVER, that game isn't currently listed as being nationally televised.  I find it hard to believe with the billions of dollars behind LeBron, that they would allow him to break a record of this magnitude without the entire nation watching.  That's why I believe he won't do it against the Thunder, but will do it the following game on Thursday, February 9th against the Bucks.  That game will be on TNT and doing it against Giannis in a win over the Bucks would also be special.
4108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 26, 2023, 08:02:53 PM
Don't forget probably the most common and used scam online.  MITM - Man in the middle.  I'm certain there are sites out there posing as other sites and hoping you wound up there by accident only to sign up or login and either have your login stolen, or make a deposit to the fraudster which you will never see again.  This is a scam I see commonly involving escrows here, where one user will try to get another to communicate via Telegram where they use someone's identity here to lure you into a false sense of security, only to have you send them funds which you will never see again...  Be careful out there folks.  It's hard to be overly paranoid when you are sending someone over the internet money.
4109  Other / Archival / Re: SONDORS Metacycle - $5,000 (now $6.5K) Electric Motorcycle on: January 26, 2023, 07:47:15 PM
A little update...  I did take the Metacycle on a 32 mile ride the other day.  When I got back it had 2 bars (out of 10) of charge left.  So I estimate if you drive like an idiot and floor the thing at every stop and use sport mode as much as possible, you'll only get 40 miles of range out of this thing.  I did see the top speed dropped from 80 to 60 when it hit only 2 bars of charge, so it automatically throttles you as it nears being out of charge.

I also noticed that everyone around me seemed to be speeding quite a bit all the time, so I pulled out the GPS app and found that the speedometer read about 10-15% higher speed than reality.  Not surprising when you are familiar with Sondors as a company...  Anyway, I found this video that shows you how to adjust the wheel size on the Metacycle's speedometer so it tracks the speed accurately.  I just got back from a ride and can confirm that this fixes the speedometer reading too high issue.  I highly recommend doing a quick speed test on your Metacycle when it arrives and if you have the same issue, use this video to correct it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdKBwa3N2Kw

Additionally, I own a pretty large phone (iPhone 14 Pro) and found that I had to remove the case in order to get it to fit in the phone storage area (or whatever it's called).  I've learned that if you put the bike's key underneath your phone so it sits higher, it will fit with the case and be able to close due to the strange way the closing mechanism works.  Neat tip. Smiley

A lot of effort is made to make sure that data is readily available for those that seek it. I give links to this data in the OP. It pains me when people want to go out of their way to try and cause trouble for this project, pretending they have some great knowledge of some behind the scenes scam, and they haven’t even glanced at the OP or looked at the data they’ve been making claims to have superior knowledge of.

TL;DR
The original post on this thread has lots of useful information. Don’t feed the trolls.
4111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 26, 2023, 06:27:49 PM
It is OK to do whatever you want with your Bitcoin. If it ever doesn’t become OK to do what you want with your Bitcoin, then you can do what you want with them anyway. That’s the beauty of Bitcoin and an immutable ledger.

Don’t listen to the people who tell you what to do or not to do with your coins. They just want you to hold so the price is higher when they sell because stupid people think this is a zero sum game.
4112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tom Brady's Gambling and HUGE loss. on: January 26, 2023, 06:23:06 PM
He definitely dropped the bag by choosing football over his wife, but I’m guessing they had other issues going on that were the real cause.

Early reports were saying he lost as much as $650 million on the FTX collapse, which would probably bankrupt the guy, but more recent reports are saying he only lost $45 million, which is basically a year’s salary for the guy.

I hope he’s able to get by with the rest of his millions and find some sort of resolution with his wife. I wouldn’t be asking him for financial or marriage advice though.
4113  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC rise described as false bull on: January 26, 2023, 06:20:04 PM
No fake bull 4-year cycle has bottomed and this was the rally of people who knew this and were ignoring the news events, which let’s face it, might as well be called the manipulation events. Bitcoin is bigger than the scammers and fake businessmen trying to get rich from it. Ignore the noise and watch the 4-year cycle. At this point it should be so fucking obvious to anyone who has been here any significant time that if you’re still losing money trading you have only your greed to blame.
4114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 26, 2023, 06:16:39 PM
^ I bet against the Suns for tonight. Luka always seems to have their number and with no Booker I think the Mavericks are going to have their way with them. We’ll see. Maybe no Booker will be a good thing as I know how much Luka likes to torch him. Ever since the playoff elimination it feels like Dallas has had Phoenix’s number.

I hit a x10 parlay on yesterday’s games. Probably should’ve bet more than $8. Smiley
4115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 26, 2023, 05:52:37 AM
Nice to see Anthony Davis back on the floor for the Lakers. Granted the Spurs aren’t a good measuring stick, but a win is a win. The new guy Hachimura had a good game and AD put up 21 & 12. Only a couple more weeks until LeBron breaks Kareem’s scoring record. It looks like maybe the Lakers might be firing on all cylinders by then as they look to secure a playoff spot in the second half of the season.
4116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 25, 2023, 06:18:59 PM
Crazy that Tommy Fury pulled out of his fight with Jake Paul for the third time. I think he’s using Jake Paul’s name to try and become relevant but he knows he can’t box so he’s just dragging this dude out as long as possible to get people to say his name. At this point Tommy Fury looks like a fake boxer. He keeps dropping the chance to secure the biggest bag of his life. He should just take the ass beating and collect a check. This is getting embarrassing.
4117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we now on Crypto bull run? on: January 25, 2023, 05:30:50 PM
While it feels like we are in the beginning stages of a bull run, it also feels like we made a pretty big move and now we’re seeing profit taking from the short term traders. No idea how long this will continue, but I think it’s pretty bullish if we hit $24K before falling back below $20K. At this point it’s a game to try and tire the leveraged longs out and build some more shorts before making the next big move.
4118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 25, 2023, 05:28:08 PM
A couple of good games on ESPN tonight for the watching. First up you have the 76ers and the Nets. Without Durant, I think the 76ers should be to win easily, but we’ll see. After that, the second game of the doubleheader is between the Grizzlies and the Warriors. This game might be fun to watch. Steph Curry isn’t the most agile defender and Ja Morant is an insane athlete. This could lead to some highlight dunks that you can watch on Sportscenter if you miss the game…
4119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 25, 2023, 07:24:13 AM
LeBron broke another record and scored 40+ against all 30 teams in NBA. LA Clippers was the only team he couldn't score 40 but tonight he did it. That was a spectacular performance from him but they still lost. LA Clippers is dominating Lakers lately, they won last 10 games against them. Without Anthony Davis, Lakers don't have much chance. I heard he may return tomorrow.

I saw that fact in an interview with him just the other day. Funny that he immediately came out and rectified that shortcoming.

The Nuggets and Pelicans was a great game tonight with the Nuggets squeaking by with a one point victory.

LeBron seemed mentally drained at the end of the game tonight in the loss to the Clippers. You can tell he is tired of not having Anthony Davis out there. The Lakers need to bite the bullet and trade for Bogdonavich.
4120  Economy / Gambling / Re: Positive Gambling Quotes for 2023! on: January 25, 2023, 12:14:17 AM
I also did a Google search and found this one to be the best for me. I think some or many members might relate to this quote.

Quote
“Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.”

This is so true, the happiness and the sense of satisfaction that you get when you win money are far better than the money earned. That happiness doubles when the amount you won is more than your earnings. Picked it up from here.

I recognize that quote from the movie Dodgeball. A real classic full of great quotes, including this one at the end when Peter made a pretty crazy bet. If you haven’t seen this movie,  it’s a must. Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller are great. As mentioned, it also has a nice gambling twist at the end which produced the quote mentioned above. Worth watching for sure. Smiley
