Gosh, these questions are tough. They seem to imply there's a ... world out there... with people...
4102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin core exploit alert on: March 31, 2022, 07:50:48 PM
I wanted to say Bitcoin network

Thanks for clearing up.

"Bitcoin red" would be Spanglish for "Bitcoin network" ("red" in Spanish is "network" in English). You would therefore be trying to set-up your own bitcoin node, as inferred by from where you made the download (stated in a prior post).

Impressing guess! I don't know Spanish, so I've taken everything ad literam, especially as he mentioned another altcoin too.

i have 8 giga Ram no ssd .i have good internet connection

With no SSD it will keep being pretty much slow.
A bigger dbcache should help though. That means to add this into bitcoin.conf (if it's missing, you can create in Bitcoin's data folder)

Code:
dbcache=4800

Another thing of help could be to add to your antivirus' exclusion list (if it has any) the folders blocks and chainstate from Bitcoin's data folder. Nothing is meant to be executed from there anyway.
4103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 31, 2022, 03:12:23 PM
So...  Where's the Do Kwon guy right now?  Is he afk? [...]

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it goes back down around 44k.  It could be the right time to btfd for those who missed the move.  What do you guys think?

You do realize that "going down to 44k" is just a dip for ants, right? That guy wants to buy Bitcoin without pumping the price unnecessarily. If some don't see that and try to dump it, I'm sure that he will be happy to see that.
I guess that you would not expect him to buy 24/7 no matter what, no matter how high the price goes for short term...

My point is that there's still plenty of room for an actual crypto winter to come, although I do hope it won't come this time.

As time goes on, such a scenario seems less and less possible - but only if we compare the beginning of 2018 with 2022. Then the situation was somewhat similar to today (BTC drop by about 50%), but in 2018 it continued to drop, while now we have a slightly different situation. Of course, the circumstances are completely different, because 4 years ago we did not have this kind of interest in investing in Bitcoin.

Indeed, institutional investors did change a lot. And indeed, we may have no proper crypto winter. I hope so. But I am not easy to be convinced we're good. Not yet. (I was accused many times, especially IRL, of being overly pessimistic.)

I may be wrong, but I think they use Bitcoin mostly to promote what they want to sell, and if (when) it all goes downhill it is possible that it will negatively affect Bitcoin. Luckily for them, there is enough BTC on the market to spend all $10 billion, and in the meantime have fun with these small bets of $10 million, which is nothing but the usual boasting of spoiled rich people.

While they clearly promote their coin, the fact they use Bitcoin as reserve asset is also an indirect advertising for Bitcoin, and imho a pretty heavy one. At least that's what I've understood off that.
My guess is that those interested in bitcoin's price will only read from the Terra ad that there's one new big buyer for Bitcoin. And the Ad is even more published because of the bet.
(Maybe it's not a specific Ad, just some news here and there, but the point remains).
4104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not happy about my first hardware wallet purchase on: March 31, 2022, 03:00:51 PM
I don't have Trezor, but there may be that you just have to uninstall one coin's wallet app so you can install the next one.

it is not possible to independently install a wallet coin that is not supported by the official firmware of Trezor Wallet. (Or maybe I miss something).
For certain coins, the wallet is not available directly through the Trezor suite app itself. but it is possible to manage them through other wallet services like Electrum, Exodus, MyCrypto etc... therefore they are not directly visible in the dashboard of the application, but can be stored with the help of a Trezor wallet.

On my Nano S I have very limited storage. If I want to install the 3rd or 4th coin, I have to uninstall some. That's what I was referring to, I don't know if it goes the same with Trezor.
Obviously not all the coins are covered, but I find rather strange to see one disappointed by the so small number of coins, when that's 1800+.

From what I see @DdmrDdmr did understand my point.
4105  Other / Meta / Re: Is shilling links allowed now? on: March 31, 2022, 02:56:15 PM
Obviously you haven't looked at the post history of Wimex, that member is more than obviously a paid shill who works for a certain site, and those who are familiar with what happened in the Press Board in the past know what it looks like.

I actually did and I know very well what you're talking about. Still, I think that if people do talk about the news - and I've seen quite a number of answers - it find it debatable.
While I would prefer to see the discussions getting smarter than based on weak, shilled, click-bait articles, without them we may end up with virtually no new posts in Press.
4106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not happy about my first hardware wallet purchase on: March 31, 2022, 02:14:40 PM
After all the advice on hardware wallets I went out to buy a Trezor hardware wallet only to find out that it only works with very few coins, if this doesn't suck to you I don't know what will.

I think that it may be a misunderstanding.
My advice is you go to Hardware Wallets area, state your HW and your problem. Maybe somebody can help you.

I don't have Trezor, but there may be that you just have to uninstall one coin's wallet app so you can install the next one.
4107  Other / Meta / Re: Is shilling links allowed now? on: March 31, 2022, 02:09:39 PM
As long as there's actual news with meaningful content and discussion goes on based on that, it can be debatable if it's shilling or just the source based on somebody's preference.
On the other hand, I've had not long ago a reported post where the mods took the expected action, but marked my report as bad Cheesy so you should not be too concerned on that.
4108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Switching from windows wallet to Linux wallets on: March 31, 2022, 01:43:21 PM
It's not my fault that I am now very fond of Linux OS after spending some years with windows OS, now I'm getting used to Linux OS so my question is can I move my blockchain data from windows 10 to Linux OS? Will it work? Or I need Linux wallet and download blockchain data all over again? I have wallets for Nodes like Ergo coin and Sia coin and others.

In theory it should work, especially if you move from Win x64 to Linux x64.
In reality, especially for lesser known coins, there's a risk and only somebody who has done this same move can actually tell.

As said, make sure the configs point to the right data folders. If you find out they don't, either change config - where you can - either use symbolic links where other solutions don't work.
4109  Local / Altcoins (Monede Alternative) / Re: VoodooVault NFTs, nft uri create de trapperul Ian on: March 31, 2022, 12:05:39 PM

Tu fa cum crezi tu, ca-s banii tai.
4110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I found wallet, but its format is not DAT, but XPT... on: March 31, 2022, 10:27:30 AM
1. The file extension has a meaning only for the programs trying to access it.
2. All files can be seen as hexadecimal characters. The garbled characters tell it's a binary file, not a text. But that can be basically anything, from executable to database file or any binary data needed by an application, including wallet files.
3. A quick search on the internet tell that XPT extension may mean it was a Firefox plugin. https://www.reviversoft.com/en/file-extensions/xpt  Maybe it rings a bell.
4111  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to turn a USB Pendrive into a crypto wallet on: March 31, 2022, 09:18:00 AM
It will not have any high security or a lot of safety, but it's a lot satisfying to have a hardware wallet.

OMG! This is, by far, NOT a hardware wallet. Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about.

1. You should read and understand what wallet safety means, what signing offline means.
2. You should at least read how hardware wallets work, instead of making very incorrect assumptions.

Hardware wallets are made for security. This is not, at least you were correct on that. Your... USB... doesn't offer anything special.
4112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin core exploit alert on: March 31, 2022, 08:47:18 AM
i want to support bitcoin red with a node

i see now only 3 active conection .i have 10  3 active conection to new york coin wallet and is a 3 milion usd market cap

Bitcoin red is a token and it's not related to bitcoin.
I don't even know what's that New York coin - whether is a coin or token.
You are mixing up badly bitcoin with altcoins and tokens. Each coin has its own blockchain. Bitcoin core works with bitcoin only.
You seem to be very confused with all those altcoins/shitcoins/tokens around. You should read more first...
4113  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 31, 2022, 07:48:04 AM
Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon has finalised a bet with a crypto personality known as GCR, or Gigantic Rebirth, to the tune of $10 million over the future price of Terra (LUNA).

Both parties have now sent $10 million in stablecoins (USDT for Kwon and USDC for GCR) to an escrow account, which is simply an Ethereum wallet owned by a veteran crypto trader known as Cobie.

Poor guys, betting $10M each. Grin
The bet is great for advertising that coin (or whatever it is) and... it cannot be bad for Bitcoin either Grin
Let them come, let them use Bitcoin as reserve currency. The supply is limited!
4114  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Any risk doing this ? on: March 31, 2022, 07:39:00 AM
Hello,

I expect to download Electrum on my MacBook, create a password, save my private key in a secret place and send some sats on multiple receptions adresses on the wallet.

Should I then uninstall Electrum or keep the app on my MacBook ?

My two main concerns are:

- Someone steals my MacBook, connects to my Electrum wallet and discovers my password (by brute force or any other technique).
- I unfortunately download a virus on my MacBook which is able to steal my electrum wallet private key.

Am I a maniac guy or one or both above possibilities are plausible ?

Thanks !

If you are "a maniac" (a better wording could be security paranoid though) then you're doing it wrong from the early beginning.
If you create a file on your HDD, there's a chance it will be recovered, hence even if you remove Electrum won't help. I'd also add that if you uninstall Electrum software it will most probably not remove the wallet files.

The logic of creating the seed from Electrum and write it down is not that bad, but the execution kinda is.
If you want to do it safely and properly, the correct way would be to start a Live OS (started from an USB or CD/DVD without rights to write anything to disk or the USB) and run Electrum from there.
One pretty easy solution could be booting from an USB stick where you've written Tails OS. It also has Electrum, although some would argue you didn't verify it.

So.. boot from a live OS, obviously with no network set up and no network cable plugged in, run Electrum, create a new seed, write it down to paper, write down a couple of addresses (see addresses tab).
Boot again from the live OS (again, no network), start Electrum, recover from the seed you've written down, verify the addresses you've written down are there.

Now you have some sort of paper wallet. You can fund the addresses you've written down. You can verify the addresses' contend on online block explorers. Copy the seed on multiple pieces of paper and store them safely on multiple (geographically) different locations.
4115  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + Electrum server + Block explorer under Windows (with WSL and Debian) on: March 31, 2022, 07:06:52 AM
Code:
Error: electrs failed

Caused by:
    0: bitcoind RPC polling failed
    1: daemon not available
2: JSON-RPC error: transport error: Couldn't connect to host: Connection refused (os error 111)
hcp@HCP-PC:~/electrs$

Really not sure what is causing the issue... any one else come across this? Huh

I can easily reproduce this when bitcoin core is running, but it's not synced.
So I'd start with getting full sync.

If that's not the cause, maybe take a look at rpcbind or rpcallowip in bitcoin.conf...
4116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: exchanges that offer 0 commissions on: March 30, 2022, 03:46:09 PM
Hello I understand there are several exchanges that offer 0 commissions but I saw a video in which they explained that these 0 commissions have trap ... if I remember correctly was something related to the slippage ... Has anyone used any of these platforms that offer 0 commissions? what is your experience?

I imagine that in those exchanges one does not have so much control with the losses and stop losses, right?
On another hand, according to a video I saw to transfer the balance from one exchange to another the best way to pay less commissions is to use litecoin? most videos simply suggest using bitcoin?

And one last question, I can transfer a small amount (for example 5 euros) for example from coinbase pro to kucoin and start trading in kucoin with that amount, right? the minimum deposit is for card payments and transfers, right?

I don't know about 0-fees, but there are a lot of platforms where the fees/commisions are hidden in the price without telling. I guess that's the slippage you're talking about.
So you don't see a fee, but the price you're buying at is higher than the normal price from the other exchanges and the price you're selling at is lower than what you'd see at other exchanges.
I've seen this behavior at certain crypto card businesses and basically all bitcoin ATMs.

About 5$ from Coinbase Pro.. I don't have account there, but I am almost sure you cannot do that. Just take a look at Coinbase Pro minimum amount you can withdraw and what's the fee for it. Most exchanges have quite big withdrawal fees (usually incorrectly calling them miner fees), just the fee alone being bigger than 5$.
4117  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 30, 2022, 01:44:56 PM
Again, if you want, we can place an escrow of the amount on the card you want. Buy the card anonymously without telling us. When you are scammed, you have the escrow money.

Find a reputable escrow, keep some funds there and write that into the ANN. It cannot harm.

I am not interested now in your card since the fee is not too far from what bitcoin ATMs do in my country.
That's also one of the reasons I didn't ask for the free card either.
4118  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 30, 2022, 01:26:22 PM
You keep spreading FUD, why I don't know. But people keep trusting us and buying our cards. Again THEY ARE INSTANT DELIVERED so the second you don't receive your card it would be a scam. But we deliver instant.

You know what funny is, every time I debunk your conspiracy. You're trying to find new ones. Lol  The second topic was a duplicate and removed by admin themselves without me telling. I didn't even want them to delete the new one, but you can have 2 topis as you your self said.

This sounds a bit paranoid...

Again, i even suggest the following: We send money to escrow. Somebody anonymously uses our service via the website without telling. If he gets scammed, he can have the money. But he won't. We deliver instant all cards.

I think that something like this, especially done from start, maybe with an deposit to the escrow just in case, could have been getting you more customers and less complains about virtual/possible future problems.
(Although I guess that in certain cases it would not be easy to see whether the user is unfair or the platform).

I can show you proof, but then i our users privacy are more information that somebody here on bitcointalks that want to spread fud because he didn't receive a free card.

If I would have wanted a free card I would have been asking, wouldn't I? But I didn't.

However, I wanted to help. Whether you take the advises into account or not, it's entirely up to you.
4119  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 30, 2022, 12:46:02 PM
And why are we not accused of scammers still? A lot of bitcointalker's have bought or cards already.

Actually you are accused for being scammer. Just look at your trust feedback: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=3455716
Keep in mind that on this forum everybody is allowed to have his own opinion, whether you like it or not, and people are not easy to please, especially in relation with money.

The topic was accidentally locked by me, i asked the admin to unlock it for me and they just did.

I find that quite a weak excuse; you could have made a topic asking how to unlock your own topic, for example.
4120  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buy virtual Mastercard Debit Cards with crypto without KYC. on: March 30, 2022, 12:36:14 PM
Weird making assumptions. First of all we never claimed to be live for years. See or announcement here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5388338.0
Second, those all are standard Mastercard text right from their promotion materials. I get the feeling that you 2 guys are paid by ezzocard, because we are much cheaper than them.

All i can say, is try our service you can start with less than 25USD. All cards are instantly issued, so there is not waiting time.

I don't know if it's lack of patience for getting on profit or something else, but:
1. Your tone is pretty much different (in a bad way) than in the initial topic before starting the business (LotusHedel and CriptoDebit.com are same person, right?)
2. You avoid certain answers which I find necessary for trust. The people here don't want to steal your business, they want to ensure they don't lose their money because Mastercard shuts down your business, for example.

All in all, I don't know if you want to scam or you just lack some "people skills", but for now this doesn't look great.
And making new topic every time you get unwanted discussion doesn't help, because they're considered duplicate and get reported/removed.

So if you want a proper long time business... it's you who have to improve.
As a pretty much long timer I am almost sure that those answers don't look like that because somebody would be paid by the competition.
If your business is legit, get somebody really good at PR, at least for a while, before you sink it. Just an advice.
