4121  Other / Meta / Re: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking up ? on: April 18, 2018, 07:25:22 AM
Great work on compiling some interesting stats. If it's not hard to do can you break down the 48.15% that need both Merit and Activity to rank up into those that have Merit>Activity and Merit<Activty? I think that'll give further insight as to how many are likely rank up any time soon.

Thanks, can you say something to the magnitude of tickets you have to buy to get the reward back up?
Initially I was asking, because currently I bought 100 tickets and this bonus mentioned above is at ~ 0.1%, so I would need roughtly 100,000 tickets to get it to 100%.
Do I need no buy that much tickets to get the reward back up or is it more like 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 50,000 ...
I just want to evaluate wether it is worth for me to get the reward back up or to continue with the low reward.
Thanks

I literally only know what I said in the linked to posts. But don't focus on the bonus as although the multipliers for jackpots and lottery tickets are the same (x4 and x20) the algorithms don't seem to be. Making a deposit and keeping a higher balance is probably the quickest way to get back to full rewards.
4124  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 18, 2018, 04:50:59 AM
I know you don't want to give out all information about how the de- and increase of the rewards work, but I hope you can answer me a simple question towards this:
Is the amount of gambling or lottery tickes you have to buy somehow constrained to this ominous bonus that is mentiond in the box above the Free BTC payout table and says "Play MULTIPLY BTC or buy lottery tickets to increase your FREE BTC rewards by up to +0.00000475 BTC 0.0933% achieved towards the next +0.00000025 BTC bonus!"?
e.g. Do I have to reache 100% there to get the regular reward back?
I was woundering because there it also says that Multiply counts with a factor of 4 and lottery with a factor of 20.

Although the bonus also goes up when you gamble or buy lottery tickets it doesn't take into account your balance so the two things are not directly related.
4125  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: April 18, 2018, 04:47:01 AM
What about Bitfinex? Will bitfinex list the new xmv coins before or after the snapshot?

Are they using the dumbest shills ever? Read the last few posts.
4126  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: April 17, 2018, 03:56:58 PM
All exchanges are already supporting, hitbtc, coinex, coinroom, btc-alpha, octaex, coinroom.. everyday new exchange.

Are there any serious exchanges supporting it? I can't imagine that Bitfinex will and the fact that they haven't announced it would seem to confirm that.

Above are serious exchanges and more confirmations every other day.

As well as the fact that you listed coinroom twice, that is actually a list of the shameless exchanges that would list any shitcoin if the developers paid them to.

I'm not speaking for Bitfinex or anyone else but I'd be surprised if any of those added it.

4127  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: April 17, 2018, 03:51:06 PM
I was more thinking that micro payments and faucets goes hand in hand and I should have thought that faucet owners would

have looked into this. You have millions of users and loads of micro payments, so it is just normal to look for a technology

that would reduce your fees. They can still use their internal ledger, but the withdraws will be a lot cheaper... right? Well, I

thought I'd ask... no harm done in asking.  Wink  {Let's leave that for Freebitco.in Ver II }

You're absolutely right that it's the ideal fit. The point I was trying to make is it's not ready yet. Pursuer also makes a good point about it not being easy for beginners to use. That's why I'm watching with interest to see how things develop both in it being proven secure and stable and also simple easy to use application interfaces.
4128  Other / Meta / Re: Why the fuck did Admin lock up so many topics? wtf? on: April 17, 2018, 03:01:54 PM
Those are all trash threads populated by shitposters saying the same thing over and over. I'm guessing rickbig is going on a cleaning spree.

They seem to be locking threads which have a lot of replies already, it would seem. Chances are that the reason for this is because in a single topic thread, the same or similar reply has already been imputed. So repeating the same answer just makes the thread unnecessarily long.

Really, you think it could be that?
4129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Barclays considering starting a cryptocurrency trading desk on: April 17, 2018, 01:27:40 PM
Curiously, the story that I just read on the same Barclays UK but the article specifically mentioned that Barclays' own announcement seemed to deliberately avoid any mention of cryptocurrency. In fact, it just skirted around the whole idea not even really committing to blockchain, just "disruptive technology".

The sound out could just be a safe "wait and see" move. Though if the bank wants to keep up with the Santanders, shouldn't be too long before they decide. There's enough ppl here complaining about UK banks slow to crypto up!

That's a classic Bloomberg "sources familiar with the matter". Someone high up at Barclays Capital has told them that is is being seriously considered and in response to the BBG story they put a statement out to dampen the speculation. Using phrases like "currently has no concrete plans to start such an operation". Which doesn't actually contradict the story.
4130  Other / Meta / Re: Don't give me merit on: April 17, 2018, 12:52:58 PM
Well if copper members bought the membership to enable them to post images, that should reduce their merit earning potential, as some awarders will put them on ignore. If they bought the membership to help them with their bounty programme spamming, and they are being awarded merits by the spamming community, then maybe that is something that should be investigated. The whole point of the merit system is to reduce the activities of bounty spammers.

Or possibly nullius and lutpin with 717 and 691 respectively are somewhat extreme outliers and make it a meaningless statistic.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is probably nearer the mark here than "Statistics never lie".

Smart contracts help you exchange money, property, shares, or anything of value in a transparent, conflict-free way while avoiding the services of a middleman.

To a non technical person; The best way to describe smart contracts is to compare the technology to a vending machine. Ordinarily, you would go to a lawyer or a notary, pay them, and wait while you get the document. With smart contracts, you simply drop a bitcoin into the vending machine (i.e. ledger), and your escrow, driver’s license, or whatever drops into your account. More so, smart contracts not only define the rules and penalties around an agreement in the same way that a traditional contract does, but also automatically enforce those obligations

Sourced from https://blockgeeks.com/guides/smart-contracts/ and only added "To a non technical person;"

4132  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the deal with moderation? on: April 17, 2018, 10:55:22 AM
Sorry dude but your just went full retard right here.

No, that was definitely you.

When I post something on bitcointalk, do I still retain ownership of that, or does bitcointalk retain ownership in it? Are my posts still my property? if so, why did you not notify me when you removed them? These are some important questions admins will need to answer with GDPR upcoming, which will affect the forum even though it is US based.
4133  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the deal with moderation? on: April 17, 2018, 10:48:58 AM
So not the forum.

Please read the entire thing. Especially the bolded part.

It doesn't contradict the first line. It still refers to US companies with a physical presence in the EU.

You should also have a think about what the implications of what you think it means are. If anyone that posts on someone else's website retained ownership then the site owner couldn't delete it then it would be a spammers charter. It's obvious that applying a little common sense says you have misunderstood it.
4134  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the deal with moderation? on: April 17, 2018, 10:41:46 AM
This is not true. You may retain ownership of your content. This means that you could remove it at any time etc. If the service retains ownership, then they could redistribute your content without your permission. Example are Reddit vs Facebook, whereby facebook retains the right to redistribute your content no matter what and Reddit always allows you to delete your content.

Just because Reddit allows you to do it doesn't mean they are obliged to. You do give ownership to the website owner and if they allow you anything it is by their choice.

GDPR is about personal data not what you post online.

Posts are still personal data. For example GDPR allows you to request all your data and data they hold about you from a website owner. This includes your posts.

That's a strange interpretation and I look forward to the EU getting embarrassed when it proves unenforceable.

The beginner's board looks a lot better. I'll spend some time on there a bit later.

There's been a big cleanup in the frog pond as well with a lot of spam megathreads having been locked. I don't think it will make much difference though as there'll soon get replaced with new ones. The positive thing is at least they disappear out of peoples unread replies lists.
4136  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the deal with moderation? on: April 17, 2018, 10:31:26 AM
Ok. So the mods removed my posts without notifying me at all or giving any explanation.

You get a notification when your posts are deleted but not when a thread is trashed.

When I post something on bitcointalk, do I still retain ownership of that, or does bitcointalk retain ownership in it? Are my posts still my property? if so, why did you not notify me when you removed them?

When you post something on someone else's website then you give it to them. You never had ownership.

These are some important questions admins will need to answer with GDPR upcoming, which will affect the forum even though it is US based.

GDPR is about personal data not what you post online.
4137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people need to use Bitcoin for Money laundering? on: April 17, 2018, 09:51:07 AM
The double standard makes perfect sense when you consider that the entire foundations of our fiat economy are dependent on the the success of banks.  Hence the phrase "too big to fail; too big to jail".  They can make an example of Ross Ulbricht because the US economy won't collapse as a result.  If the US locked up every banker that did something wrong and fined banks amounts that were more proportionate to their crimes, they'd effectively be shooting themselves in the foot head.  It would be fatal if major banks went under, so they'll keep doing everything they can think of to prevent that happening.

The fines levied on the banks are carefully calculated to ensure that they don't harm them. In effect, it is actually just another form of taxation. Think of it as the 'doing bad stuff' tax. Banks factor that into the calculation of what business they decide to do as an extra risk factor.

Money laundering using crypto is tiny in comparison and most of it has moved away from Bitcoin to more anonymous altcoins that are better suited.
4138  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Bitcointalk user analysis on: April 17, 2018, 08:31:13 AM
Scraped through first 1mil user IDs, end result was roughly 900K rows of users.
End result was so much smaller than IDs because my scrapper throws an exception if "Last active: Never" ('Never' isn't correct date format for a database).

This is interesting but are you intending on completing it and scraping the remaining 1m accounts?

303K users last active this year (202K Brand new) this looks suspicious Huh

There's a lot of spambots out there and if a moderator catches them while they are still Newbie they can 'nuke' the account. This bans them and deletes all their posts which returns them to Brand New status.
4139  Economy / Speculation / Barclays considering starting a cryptocurrency trading desk on: April 17, 2018, 08:05:53 AM
Another sign of mainstream financial interests moving into the cryptocurrency space.

Barclays Plc has been gauging clients’ interest in the British bank starting a cryptocurrency trading desk, potentially joining Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in pioneering a new business on Wall Street, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The CME and CBoE futures markets were only the start which allows major institutions to hedge their positions. I really see this opening up a path to a major inflow of fresh money.
