He doesn't even bat at this number whenever he plays for Baroda but for some weird reason, he or maybe management thought that he's solid for the top 3.

Well, Rahul wasn't there, that's why LSG reached the playoffs, otherwise his only contribution would've been shouting Go Green (dot-ball initiative of BCCI) Grin

Lucknow Super Giants had the worst selection policy for any team in this season of the Indian Premier League. They gave just 4 matches to Quinton de Kock, as Kyle Mayers was selected ahead of him. And then Mark Wood was dropped in favor of Naveen-ul-Haq. This stupidity reminded me of the Mumbai Indians, who refused to give a single match to Dewald Brevis. Irrespective of who is captaining the side (KL Rahul or Krunal Pandya), LSG made the shittiest decisions for any of the franchises. It surprises me that somehow they managed to reach the playoffs.

Pakistan Shaheens with its young squad have played an awesome innings. The team had got a solid start with Imran Butt scoring 64 runs, Haseebullah scoring 62 runs, and Omair 89* runs not out, Missed his century. The team was able to score 314/6 which is really good to defend the Zimbabwe team. For now it is a confirmed winning for Pakistan Shaheens as Zimbabwe have lost 6 wickets scoring 98 runs by the end of 23 overs. Young players getting opportunity to play is really good and Pakistan is making arrangements to keep the next set of players in a prepared manner for the upcoming tournaments.

Excellent performance from the young Pakistan side, as they won the match by 177 runs. Zimbabwe could only manage a total of 137. Remember that this is the regular Zimbabwe side, with all their star players. None of the Pakistani players scored a century today, but Imran Butt, Haseebullah Khan and Omair Yousuf scored half-centuries. And then Aamer Jamal and Qasim Akram did dome fireworks towards the end. Among the Zimbabwe bowlers, apart from Brandon Mavuta and Richard Ngarava everyone else went for plenty of runs.

I am not sure about this story. There are too many loose ends. First of all, if the boy is minor then he can't receive the winnings. He is under 18 years of age and that is against the terms and conditions (he claims to be 19-years old, but that is debatable). In such case, the game will be declared as invalid and the winning will be nullified. So even if his father accepts the win, they are not going to get anything. And secondly, is it even possible to have a 100,000x bet? I have seen bets up to 1,000x, but anything more than that exists only in folklore.
This is what I thought after reading the article written by Strongkored the article replies incomplete and just says the boy bets on sports betting.
If realistically calculated $0.87 getting an $83k win is like getting a 100,000x multiplier as you mentioned and Strongkored has also said if this is done on sports betting for sure the guy is using a multi bet picking some favored clubs.
But what I'm still thinking about right now is how many clubs have been chosen so that I can get very high odds equivalent to 100,000x.
It's a little difficult to understand whether this story is just fictional or real but for me it seems unreal.

Most of the sportsbooks have a limit on maximum winnings, such as 100x or 200x. There was an incident in the United States where one of the gamblers won 10,000x or something, but the casino refused the payout saying that as per their terms and conditions the maximum payout is 100x and anything above that results from machine malfunction. And the winner filed a lawsuit against the casino, but in the end the judges ruled that the casino doesn't have to pay any of the winnings to the participant. I guess the same will happen in this case.

I agree with you. Mumbai looks more likely to win this match. Last few matches of the Mumbai team I watched live. Mumbai players are in great form. Both batsmen and bowlers are playing well. Yesterday against LSG we saw the dominance of Mumbai bowlers. And if Mumbai's bowlers can do well against Gujarat as well then it is certain that Mumbai will play in the final. Mumbai's batting lineup is very strong. Their main weakness was their inexperienced bowlers. But now the bowlers are also in a very good rhythm. The players are very confident now. And so against Gujarat, I will put the Mumbai Indians team ahead.

There are a few disadvantages for Mumbai Indians in their next match. First of all, the match will take place at the home ground of Gujarat Titans (Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad). So the latter will be having home advantage. The track is going to be much faster when compared to the one at Chepauk, and this will put may of the MI bowlers on backfoot. And when it comes to team balance, Gujarat is one step ahead of all the other teams. Their batting and bowling lineups are among the best for any franchise in this season of the Indian Premier League.

When it comes to the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, the pitch tends to play a touch slow and favors spinners. So, both of MI's openers were dismissed cheaply due to the pitch's tendency. An average first innings score at this venue is around 163 runs. Taking the nature of the pitch at Chepauk, MI put up a decent target for their opponents to chase. However, it was Akash Madhwal who really stole the show by taking five wickets and leading his team to a well-deserved victory.

I am not sure whether Chepauk offers any advantage for the spinners over the seamers. In the past matches, it was Matheesha Pathirana who took the most number of wickets. And during the last match, it was Akash Madhwal, the seamer from Mumbai Indians who destroyed the Lucknow Super Giants. Batting is more difficult in this pitch when compared to others, and I guess both the spinners as well as the seamers get equal advantage out of it. Anyway, the next two matches will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where conditions are more favorable for the batsmen.

There is no reason for ICC intercontinental cup in my opinion. The associate Nations are not in the best shape right now. and of course, if there is any tournament between the associate Nations the team which has the most amount of foreign players is going to win. At least that's what I think. It is going to be a bad expense of resources. ICC do not care about the associate Nations. Nor do the teams which are at the top, the big 4.

Yes. It is true that the quality of associate cricket has gone down over the last two decades. Many of the promising teams such as Danmark and Kenya have become completely defunct. On top of that, the second point that you have raised is also true. Right now the team with more number of foreign players have a better chance to win the ICC tournaments. This negatively impacts genuine native dominated teams such as Namibia and Nepal, and ends up favoring fake teams such as the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
4128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: May 25, 2023, 06:13:52 AM
Even if India and China have the infrastructure to support the hosting of the world cup or they have the funds for it as long as they never bid themselves forward as organizers, is it possible for FIFA to appoint one? It seems that it is impossible because FIFA only appoints countries that volunteered because it means they have the ability or desire to become the organizer, because it seems that at this time FIFA is no longer considering the development of football from the countries that bidding to be the host, so every country currently has the opportunity to become a host as long as it has the funds and FIFA sees an opportunity to get bigger profits there.

Well, profitability is a big concern if the matches are being scheduled in India. Because the government never makes these events tax-free and it won't be acceptable for the FIFA. And football is not the most popular sport in India, unlike the case with most of the other countries. And given the current political climate, I don't think that the Indian government will take a favorable view of hosting the event in their territory. In case of China, the scenario is more viable. The government is more supportive compared to the one in India.

On a side note, DeSantis has the financial backing of major Republican donors to take on Trump. His avenue to the nomination exists.

LOL.. it is going to be a repeat of 2016, when Donald Trump took on the establishment GOP candidates. And now in 2024 he is even more stronger. Many of the establishment Republicans are even scared of announcing their support for DeSantis, because in that case Trump will support primary candidates against them. Anyway, he has some calculations in his mind and that is the reason he finally announced his candidature. And additional funding from the donors is not going to change anything. He will not even get the nomination for the VP post.

Pooran was a fine choice, I don't think LSG has better finisher than him, great fielder as well even when not playing as WK. However, Quinton de Kock should have been included in the squad instead of Prerak Mankad/Badoni. I don't know what logical reasoning they used to drop a star international player in such an important match.

There is no excuse for dropping an explosive T20 batsmen such as Quinton de Kock. If the issue was with the limited number of overseas slots, then they should have replaced Naveen-ul-Haq with one of the local seamers. Or another option was to drop Kyle Mayers and include de Kock in his place. Mayers made some good knocks in the beginning, but in the recent matches he failed completely. Anyway, it is the end of this season of the Indian Premier League for Lucknow Super Giants. Hopefully they will come back strongly next season.

China and India are densely populated countries and don't really prioritize the sport of football so if you want to host one of them as the host of the World Cup you have to prepare well in advance so that there are improvements and efforts made so that spectators and players from various countries feel comfortable when compete and lived there for some time.
I don't know whether this option is a good one or not, but I think that with more and more countries that have never hosted the World Cup becoming World Cup hosts, the love for football in these countries will also increase.
However, considering that China and India are densely populated countries and have insufficient football facilities, maybe FIFA will consider all of them if you want to choose one of them.

I would disagree if you claim that there are not enough stadiums and other facilities in India. Here we have a very popular league known as the Indian Super League, which is played in stadiums with capacity of more than 50,000. Anyway, if these stadiums are not up to the international standards, then there is always the option of upgrading them. And I am sure that the situation in China is much better than what it is in India. There is no logic in ignoring countries such as India and China for hosting rights, while awarding the same to smaller countries such as Qatar.

Ireland is the latest team to announce their squad for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifiers. All of the regular players are available for the tournament, and Craig Young makes a comeback after recovering from injury. He will join Josh Little to lead the Irish pace attack. Ireland is placed in a tough group along with Sri Lanka, Scotland, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Apart from Sri Lanka, it is going to be tough to defeat Scotland as they have been performing very well recently. The Scots have also announced a strong squad consisting of regulars such as Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross and Michael Leask.

We can't term this to be completely bowling pitch. It is the home ground for Chennai, but the team had won 4 matches out of 7 matches played. On an average throughout this season we were able to see the score to be around 180-190 runs. In this ground Chennai had scored 200 runs. Most of the match results on the Chennai ground is on defending. Maybe that have once again reflected in the eliminator match.

The pitch at Chepauk is proving to be quite slow compared to those in other stadiums. It is not possible to start attacking from the first ball, and that is the reason why Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma got out cheaply yesterday. In this pitch a total of 160 is going to be enough to guarantee a win. Mumbai Indians managed a total of 182/8, which proved to be more than enough. And the Mumbai management did the right thing by going for the impact substitute (Suryakumar Yadav replaced with Nehal Wadhera) in the first innings itself. Wadhera added some crucial runs towards the end.

Cricket is growing on papers under this ICC management because they want to have better things through sponsors and media rights, so they are doing their tricks which are not helpful for the game and fans with now most chances they have no chance in IOC as well because their current policies are not helpful for allowing them into this event, and they are also having not solid strategy.

If we have 60 to 80 teams which are having adopted players from India and Pakistan with not domestic setup and facilities for their players which is not helpful for the game, but just few players are having better things for themselves as many times mentioned they need to work on minimum 4 or 5 native players can bring better interest but no one going to listen this.

I am against allowing even a single foreigner in national teams. What is the point in having a "national" team, if the citizens of other countries are allowed to participate? But I agree with your suggestion that having 5-6 native players in the XI would be a good starting point. And regarding inclusion of cricket in Olympics, I guess it is not going to happen for the next 20 years. The ICC guys give an impression that they want that to happen, but in reality they are not taking any steps to realize that objective. A few months back, there was an announcement from the IOC that the ICC hasn't responded to their queries.

Going down to a target of 183 runs in the Eliminator match, LSG were bowled out for just 101 runs. Going into bat first, it seemed that LSG might finish the match before 18 overs. But Akash Madhwal was struck early by the wicket of Prerak Mankad, who was dismissed for a team-high 12 runs and an individual 3 runs. But Akash Madhwal didn't stop there as he took 5 wickets for just 5 runs in 4 overs and contributed a lot to Mumbai Indians' victory. Anyway best wishes to Mumbai Indians for a win and looking forward to another match like today's match against Gujarat Titans.

Akash Madhwal has been one of the finds of this season. I would like him to represent the Indian national side, but given all the nepotism and bias in team selection, I am not very optimistic about it. Yesterday he singlehandedly destroyed the Lucknow Super Giants. At one point, LSG were 69/2 in 8.2 overs and looked like they are in a comfortable position. They lost the next 8 wickets for just 32 runs. Apart from Marcus Stoinis, no one made a score of more than 20. They made the same mistake, by refusing to select Quinton de Kock (Pooran was preferred instead of him) and Mark Wood (replaced by Naveen-ul-Haq).
4136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: May 24, 2023, 03:26:10 PM
The depth in Mumbai batting is getting exposed now. Their openers (Ishan Kishan & Rohit Sharma) got out cheaply, but despite that Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav stabilized their innings. Then Naveen-ul-Haq got both these settled batsmen. Now Tilak Varma and Tim David has taken the responsibility to get them to a decent total. Any other team would have folded up by now, but since their batting strength is quite deep, Mumbai is still in a comfortable position despite losing four of their best batsmen. But a couple of additional wickets would put them in trouble.
4137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 24, 2023, 03:05:59 PM
I am not in favor of this idea right now because this gap is surely having his impact, and we can't bring any positive from this if we have this idea in running from the start then surely things could be different and many countries could be able to have teams for this long run format, but now it's not going to have anything ideal.
Jagmohan Dalmiya was the cricket lover but his all amazing ideas and work ruin by Srinivasan/Pawar mafia which hurt this game in long run as well now with this all we are having good idea to develop franchise cricket and enjoy with this.

Test is now played of just 8 to 10 countries game which will surely have changes in near future as well because when we will have not good funding for the domestic setup which is needed then surely more players will be gone for these franchise instead of going to play this long term format which is also having no salary which is needed to stay in this format.

Well... you maybe right. Now there is no point in starting the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Participating in the longer version takes a lot of resources and funds. During the Dalmiya era, there was a lot of support being directed towards the associate nations from the ICC. The governments were also quite supportive because back then the squads were mainly comprised of native players. Srinivasan/Pawar mafia ruined everything. They destroyed genuine teams such as Kenya, and then propped up fake teams such as United States and the United Arab Emirates.
4138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 24, 2023, 02:41:38 PM
Despite the loss of two early wickets, Mumbai seems to be cruising towards a 200 plus total. It is going to be tough for the Lucknow Super Giants. The pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium is slower when compared to those in other venues and anything above 180 can be a winning total. Mumbai lost both the openers (Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma) early, and now Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav are at the crease. Fortunately for Mumbai, they have a lot of depth in batting. Tilak Varma is supposed to come at no.5, and Tim David will be batting at no.6.
4139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 24, 2023, 02:21:04 PM
Honestly, I understand if you do not have good enough players to play in the national team and that's why you have to get players from another country to play in the national team. But it can be only 3 or 5 players maximum. If it is anything more than that, it isn't a national team in my opinion. But we have a lot of teams that have 11 players from whole other continents playing in the national team. That's the funny and sad part. If that is the case then why don't let franchise cricket teams participate in the world cup?

The intent from ICC is to show that cricket is growing. So they have these 70-80 fake teams entirely consisted of Indian and Pakistani expats. Then they claim that cricket is being played around in 100 plus nations (which is false, obviously). A few weeks ago, I had posted one of my suggestions. My suggestion was to allot additional slots for teams like India and Pakistan. Rather than Indian players faking as UAE or German players, why can't the ICC allow Indian A, Indian U-23 or India U-19 squads in the ICC tournaments? But then their fake story of 100 countries playing cricket will be exposed.

Deshpande, Theekshana and Matheesha might be inexperienced in comparison to Gujrat's attack but all of them bowled nicely throughout the tournament. Deshpande in particular is quite expensive but at the same time, he's also taking a load of wickets.

So far Saha scored almost 300 runs this season and 3rd highest for Gujrat so i think he did justice to his selection.

I can agree that Matheesha Pathirana had been exceptional in this season for the Chennai Super Kings. And maybe we can say that Maheesh Theekshana did a decent job. But Tushar Deshpande? This guy has an economy rate of 9.61, despite bowling most of his overs in the initial powerplay. He has picked up a good number of wickets, but most of these wickets have been those of tailenders. Compared to Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana has an economy rate of 7.72 (and this is despite bowling almost all of his overs at the depth). Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja also have economy rate of less than 8.
