4122  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Project will be making a major announcement in September on: September 21, 2012, 09:04:57 PM
Did they specify september 2012?

 Roll Eyes

The way the English language tends to work is if someone says something like "In September" and they say that in August, or earlier, then it is assumed they mean the September coming up, not the one next year or at some other point in time in the future.  Only if they mean some other September other than the one immediately coming up would they need to be more specific.   Unless Gavin is playing childish word games, like Matthew did to get out of his bet...  And I don't think he is, do you?

And if you have read Gavin's words in this thread and elsewhere you should see that he regrets saying what he did and having it getting blown out of proportion like this... so settle down ffs and move on.   Cheesy   There isn't going to be some earth shaking revelation coming in the near future in regard to Bitcoin.
4123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best way to spread knowledge about Bitcoin on: September 21, 2012, 08:17:19 PM
You do know that the United Nations is often wrongfully accused of wasting money on bureaucracy when not long ago they received less than half of the funds of the New York City Police Department to pay for all their expenses including all peacekeeping missions around the planet.

New York City still isn't safe with all that money that some people would rightfully claim to be a waste of valuable tax dollars.

So, please if you just want to strengthen prejudices spread by unilateralists in the US don't do it here. For the rest of the world the concept of working together and having a chat before going to WWIII seems worthwhile. Not to mention what would happen to numerous crisis zones on the planet if you pulled out UN troops.

Can you confirm that you are paying out?  Why don't you do like Memory Dealers and have people post their bitcoin address on your facebook page, instead of having them email you? And also why don't you give more information on the frontpage of your facebook page about how to get that 0.001 BTC you are giving out, instead of making them dig for it?  If you do this I think you might get more people interested in this.    Smiley
4126  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Re: Butterfly Labs CEO 25 Million USD Mail Fraud — A Concise Summary of Evidence on: September 21, 2012, 02:30:46 AM
This reminds me of that Woody Allen movie where they open a cookie shop next to a bank to set up cover while they tried to tunnel into the vault. Meanwhile the cookie shop takes off as a successful business and they are stuck in a quandary as to whether they should rob the bank or not...
What title it is?
I want to watch it. Smiley

I don't know about any Woody Allen movie like that but it sounds a lot like Larceny, Inc. (1942)
with Edward G. Robinson and lot of other talent.

"Three ex-cons buy a luggage shop to tunnel into the bank vault next door. But despite all they can do, the shop prospers..."

I do recommend it.

Maybe Woody Allen did a remake of this.

"Small time crooks"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0196216/

Yup, thanks.  I just noticed this at the Larceny, Inc. page:

...It's a pretty ancient tale. Thieves getting into a store next to a bank in order to break through the wall into the vault. The first time I remember coming across it was in a Sherlock Holmes tale, "The Red Headed League," and I doubt it was original with Conan-Doyle. This is the earliest movie about such a caper that I'm aware of. But later there was "Big Deal on Madonna Street" and most recently Woody Allan's "Small Time Crooks," which duplicated some of the incidents as well as the general idea. (The thieves break open a water pipe while digging the tunnel; the original plan fizzles out when the phony business upstairs becomes an economic bonanza.) It's a well-done and highly entertaining comedy with the usual roster of Warners' stalwarts at their best. The kind of movie about which you can truly say, "They don't make 'em like that anymore."...

The great bunny racers of the day will receive an appreciation according to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108834.msg1204922#msg1204922

Race a bunny, become a hero  Grin

I've noticed more than once the bunny I picked clearly winning the race - not even close - and yet getting the message that it came in second and being paid the second place prize.
I think you've got some bugs with your bunnys.

Bitcoiner has some DNS problems that affect only some people (and only sometimes). I'm not really sure how to solve that. However it should work if you add it to the /etc/hosts file.

EDIT:
If you have problems with bitcoiner.net not resolving, try adding line:
Code:
78.47.132.146 bitcoiner.net
to the /etc/hosts (Linux) or C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) file.

Thanks for that info.

His link show nothing by ctrl+f "btc". You need to click "About" to see that.

Yes, which is why I said he needs to show it more prominently on his page.
