This time Atletico Madrid seem like they have started to improve their form earlier compared to the previous season. This is a good sign for them to fight for top places easier. I don't know if they can maintain their claim for the title until the end of the season but we will see. If they are eliminated from the Champions League early then their main target would be the La Liga. Otherwise I don't know how much good they can balance both tournaments.
Their next game is against Girona home and I expect a comfortable win. They had better win that before playing a very difficult game against A. Bilbao after that.

Leverkusen's first league game with Xabi Alonso is going to be against Schalke in two days. We will see if he will start making a difference for Leverkusen already by this game. Schalke are another team in poor condition now. These teams have really similar statistics in the standings as well. However Leverkusen have a much more qualified squad than them. They only need to make use of this advantage and they can get the win comfortably. I hope that they will have a good start with their new manager by winning this game.

Chelsea did great in the Champions League by getting a clear win against Milan by 3-0. This was really promising as it showed how much they have made progress in such a short time period. Their next opponent is Wolves in the league. They couldn't win against Wolves in Stamford Bridge in their last two head-to-head games. I think that it is time for ending this streak.
As long as Chelsea show a similar level of performance to the Milan game then there is nowhere to run for Wolves. I expect a comfortable Chelsea win by at least two goals.

Napoli have impressed everyone by their incredible performance so far. Even though they have tough opponents like Liverpool and Ajax in the group they are still playing like they are much stronger than both of them. They defeated Liverpool 4-1 and did the same to Ajax by even a bigger score like 6-1. They are living the dream now and I assume they would finish the group as the leader as well.
However I'm curious about their performance against other big teams. This performance deserves to play in the semi final at least I believe. Because they are one of the most performing teams of the group stage already.

After a huge win over Barcelona, Inter are going to play an away game against Sassuolo. This is another tough game for them undoubtedly. However I really liked Inter defense against Barcelona. There was some significant improvement as they didn't let Barcelona have so many goal attempts. This can be a sign for them about their next game in the Serie A as well.
I started to think that this win will be a huge motivation source for Inter to play more solid in defense and offense both. Inter don't have bright stats in away games as they have conceded 10 goals in 4 games so far. But I think they will manage to win here one way or another. But as for betting, both teams to score @1.62 seems safer to me.

Aubameyang has started to adapt to Chelsea as it seems. He has played in 4 games so far and none of them was for 90 minutes. But he scored 2 goals anyway. As you indicated, Chelsea have started to enter the right path under Potter's management. Defeating Milan by a solid effort and very reassuring victory is a big job for them.
They have such a competitive group now as well. Milan were the leader before last night but now they are at the 3rd position. Honestly I think Chelsea - Milan duo would manage to reach next round. I don't think either Salzburg or Dinamo Zagreb are strong enough to leave one of those teams behind at the end.

Erling Haaland is on his way to breaking Salah's record of the most goals scored in one season in English Premier League. Pep substituted Haaland in the Champions League match last night against Copenhagen, could it be because of the Southampton fc that he substituted him? Certainly not. I am yet to understand how Southampton will approach that match in order not to conceive upto 5goals in the match.
Of course, it was the reason why Guardiola decided to sub him. Because it was already an easy win for Manchester City and Haaland already scored two goals in 45 minutes. Haaland is very likely to break the goal record in one season in the Premier League indeed. Scoring nearly the half amount of Salah's goal record is an incredible job for him. He is such a goal machine that he adapted to this league and Manchester City very quickly. Who wouldn't want such striker in their team in the end? Until he leaves Manchester City I'm sure that we will see great records being broken by him. He can easily be one of the Premier League legends as long as he performs at a very high level. |

Things are really not going well for Barcelona in the Champions League. They couldn't score even one goal against Bayern Munich and Inter in their last games and lost both of them. They aren't letting this reflect on their La Liga games at least which is positive news for them. But if we see them in the Europa League again then it would be a huge disappointment. Xavi has built a great team already now and this team deserve to reach a good stage in the Champions League.
I hope to see them making up for their mistakes in the coming games and turn things around in the group. They are still better than Inter actually and we should be seeing it in the game in Camp Nou next time.

Xabi Alonso has no history with a team as a manager except Real Sociedad B. Therefore this is a quite big risk to take for Leverkusen.
They are in a really poor shape now and we see them at the second last position in the standings. The Bayern Munich loss was the tipping point for Leverkusen board. Let's see how good they will do with Xabi Alonso. Actually he played in the Bundesliga before for three seasons. Taking this into account he might be considered as experienced in this league. If he adapts to the players quickly then maybe things can go on well for him to help his team recover in the first half of the season.

I am surprised by the way of play because after first lost against AC Milan they are doing amazing job having 6 wins and 1 draw specially wins against teams like Roma and Inter is amazing job from them and now Verona is in relegation how can they stop them even having lead in match, but two late goals were enough for them to have full three points, and now they are going to face the biggest threat in next week which is Atlanta if they are able to handle this then surely we can expect something special from them in this season with most chances European spot is must at the cost of any big name at the top.
Because, currently few teams are unpredictable, and they are not having good time with poor strategy is also giving them poor results which can hurt their cause at the end of this season even sometime Italian League is unpredictable with unusual results can happen like we have in last season with Napoli and Atlanta both slip badly.
This can really be the case for some Italian teams after making a solid start to the season. I don't know how much longer Udinese can maintain this but it doesn't seem like they will start a bad form in the near future. But after the first half of the season we might start seeing some bad results coming for them also. Because Udinese don't have a squad full of quality players. In this case things are more difficult for a team to be consistent during the whole season. Otherwise it would be lovely to see a different team in even the title race. Normally we don't see this kind of middle-placed teams battling for the league title often. |

Liverpool may have defeated Rangers very comfortably in the Champions League. But this victory shouldn't be misleading at all. Because their next opponent in the Premier League is Arsenal and this is a much more difficult game for Liverpool. Its being played in Emirates adds an extra difficulty to the game.
Liverpool have still been weak in defense in league games as you know from the Brighton game already. Arsenal are the current leader in the standings and they are one of the most dangerous attacking teams. If Klopp doesn't manage to prepare his defense line better for the game then they can increase their streak without a win to three games. They would be even likely to lose as well.

The thing is thank goodness real Madrid have not sold Benzema just as other big clubs sold some of their good players and now they are lacking behind some of them sold the stickers instead of buying an additional have with your player.
Most of their managers don't know what the condition is but all the same Real Madrid may end up being the champion league winner.
There is no meaning in selling Benzema for Real Madrid unless they find a better alternative to him. He is still a very important part of the team as well now. He has just returned from an injury so maybe he needs some time to have his usual performance back. But when he does he would still continue on his productivity about goals to make his team get stronger again. Udinese are really unstoppable now.
Honestly I was waiting for Verona to put an end to their winning streak today. They were so close to doing this after getting 1-0 ahead also. But Udinese scored the equalizer in the 70th minute first. It was still like they were going to lose two points however they somehow scored the winning goal in the stoppage time. It was a really high effort by them throughout the game though. They totally deserved this win but Verona were just annoyingly lucky against them. Now they are on a winning streak of six games and still only one point behind Napoli - Atalanta duo.

Manchester City would love to continue with a rare striker like Erling Haaland for so many years. However it seems really difficult considering his father's statement about him. Haaland might also be willing to play for some other big teams in his career also. But before leaving it seems like we can see him breaking the goal record in one season in the Premier League. He might be the biggest help for Manchester City to win the Champions League title also.
As long as Manchester City reach their Champions League goal they wouldn't mind him leaving after 2-3 years. Otherwise they wouldn't be very willing to do this I believe.

Leicester finally found the win they needed after many weeks. This was their first win in the season and it was a really solid one. This 4-0 win over Nottingham was the game they were the best in defense so far. Because their main problem has been related to the weakness of their defense so this win might help them improve their performance as of now. I know that they played against another poor team of the league. But I still don't want to underestimate this win for them. They need to keep up a good work to get themselves out of the relegation zone.

Inter are still having the same nightmare after losing to Roma by 2-1 home as well.
They are eight points behind the leader after leaving only the 8th week behind. This isn't a gap that can't be closed of course but things are getting more difficult for them every week. Many people must have been hopeful about them after the break. But nothing has changed for them as it seems. Most probably they will get another hit by Barcelona in the Champions League. Their next game in the Serie A is also difficult which is an away game against Sassuolo. In short, Inter might still maintain this bad form for weeks.

Barcelona are finally the leader after a very long time period. Real Madrid were dominating the league for a long time before. But now Barcelona's entering the title race has increased the excitement level of the La Liga certainly. It is really boring to follow any league under dominance of one team.
From now on we will see which one of these teams will handle a tight schedule better than the other. They will need to focus on the La Liga and Champions League both at the same time. The World Cup will add an extra difficulty to the fixture and probable injuries would turn the direction of the wind to one of these teams significantly.

~snip~ I hope they bounce back immediately though. Great game from Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. But I honestly hope they don't win the Premier League once again. It sucks totally!  I also hope that Manchester United players don't get affected very deeply this much easily. As far as I can see, their next game is an away one against Everton. This is another tough game for them honestly. Because Everton are doing better on the recent weeks. They haven't lost a game for six weeks and they are on a two-game winning streak as well. As the game is in Goodison Park it is like an extra difficulty for the Red Devils. If Erik ten Hag make the right choices for this game they can still win of course. They are stronger on paper in the end. One game shouldn't change everything at once. |

Of course we can't expect the favourites of the league title to win every single game in the season. But it was still an interesting week as Ajax and PSV both lost points. Ajax at least tried their best but couldn't score the second goal. Things were different for PSV. They weren't good enough against Cambuur especially in the second half. Cambuur benefited from their weakness by a brave performance and got a very surprising result like 3-0. They defeated PSV for the first time in their history which is another nice achievement for Cambuur.
AZ are the new leader indeed but we will see how long they can keep the lead.

In less than a week there is a der Klassiker in Signal Iduna Park. It can feel interesting to see these teams facing each other without Haaland and Lewandowski this time but I still hope to see an enjoyable game. But those two players were playing a huge role in increasing the attention to the biggest game of the league. None of them has such player in their squad now.
It has been four years since Dortmund defeated them here last. If Bayern Munich still turn this into their advantage then they might be likely to get a win again. But I think this game will be very competitive. Bayern Munich seemed very capable against Leverkusen. Dortmund haven't been very impressive in the attacking line as they scored only 11 goals in 8 games. They need to be more productive in each game.
