only whales know what will happen. we can guess as much as we want but there is always a 50% chance for it to come true. if it didn't come true you don't see these people anymore. they will then create a new account.
I don't think tokeweed will stop using his hero member account if he gets it wrong. If it was a newbie account it's no problem, but hero member accounts take don't grow on trees. in this case it's a hero member. but there are people who create each week a new account with threads like 'bitcoin goes to $50 next week'

why is the OP not banned yet?
because people are allowed to post nonsense stuff. if the thread quality is below a certain quality then a mod will probably delete it.

once you do a fresh os install make sure you use legit software or download it from a trusted source. people can secure their wallets as much as they want, but if their pc contains a virus then their effort was for nothing.

Putting a Tolkien reference as an option makes it just too tempting Honestly, I think if we're at 211 in five months that would be so bad that it would probably mean the end of bitcoin. So, despite these last days, I believe we're amidst an upwards trend, which should take us to about 800 by the end of the year - I'd put us in the 600/700 range in 5 months. you must be joking right? the end of bitcoin? seriously? your $800 prediction is far too high. i think the highest it will go is probably $500

how many bitcoin is dead threads have we had this year? it's getting boring now. come with something new. this kind of fud won't do much.

thanks for putting this tutorial together. i am think of taking over a pc from a family member to use it solely for bitcoin. i will buy a new hard drive for security purposes but can ram memory also contain a virus?
Check the harddrive for hidden firmware on your online PC before putting your bitcoins on it. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/02/16/us-usa-cyberspying-idUSKBN0LK1QV20150216Yes ram can also contain virus, that it is why it has be be carefully put on the offline PC. And after you want to use the funds there you need to be cautious with it. I`ll put together a tutorial how to spend from the safe offline wallet without compromizing it. Done! so, even a brand new hard disk is a potential risk. you can't trust anything nowadays. regarding the ram. is it enough to just run a full system virus scan to make sure everything is clean?

if some one has little to no experience with investing they are better off contacting some who knows exactly how everything works. investing is risky which means if you invest it in the wrong industry or wrong in a wrong way you might end up with a huge loss.

funny threads like this show up from time to time. people with no or little money are loud and say i have this and that bla bla bla. most of the people who actually are wealthy are quiet and don't say more than they need.

Let's cut the crap. Most of us are just waiting for Bitcoin to finally hit $100 to buy a huge quantity. Am I right or talking out my ass?
Actually in my case 100$ is still too much per coin as investment. Basically I know that I missed this train and looking for another one. And, although people tell that there's only one coin, I have hopes that some of the altcoins will rise. can you explain why $100 is still too much according to you? i get the impression that you are just waiting to get on board for a very low price. eventhough it seems not realistic.

I do, but I don't think trusting myself is enough. I gave my best friend my private keys.. tho he have no earthly idea what it is.
better ask him to delete your private keys now he still don't know what it is. if he does know what it is and it has decent enough value, then your friend might not be much of a friend anymore.

joining a signature campaign that allows newbies is the best chance and value for your time. faucets are not worth the time.

it's not only publicity, but it is also much better and safer than other payment options. it's a first step in the right direction.

In fact most of the coins in cold wallets are almost like destroyed, they are not in circulation for a long time
The key is to remove bitcoins from exchanges, when coins on exchanges are getting less and less every day, the value will increase for sure, and an easy way is to purchase from exchanges and spend them
i have seen plenty of 2012 and 2013 wallets where there is no output while it has a fair amount of coins inside. it's not possible to see if these are cold wallets or "no access" wallets.

with no major news to drive the price, $500 target is a fair guess. people saying $1000 this year are fantasy thinkers.
I marked $300-500 for the same reason. I do not expect any major events for Bitcoin in 2015. 2016 is another story, with Gemini and halving event, but let's first get there. For now I expect more sideways move, probably for most of 2015. i expect some fireworks from gemini but not sure how it will work out once they open their doors. halving for me at this point is not that important.

I think it will rise in price quite a bit by the end of this year, but it will never reach the $1000 it once was.
$1000 definitely won't happen this year. i don't even think next year. it will need to be a stable rise. i think it will go to $400 at most. i'm already happy if we maintain $300 this year.

if traders could spot bottoms then he or she would make a huge load of money. my guess is that it will not go below $200 buy support there looks strong.

i don't think they own a single satoshi beside the seized coins that they have sold or are going to sell. regarding banks. they are interested in the blockchain. not really in bitcoin.

too difficult maybe the end of the year will reach $2,000 twice that of 2013
you sure? would you mind telling us how much you bought? must be a lot since you think it will go to $2k
