Relief rally, that the Apple Wallet announced at the Keynote is no threat.

this.
4142  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: September 09, 2014, 04:01:41 PM

2) apple fully integrates btc

Nun ja , 2) ist eher unwahrscheinlich...

Wonder how this Satoshi saga will impact the price

It probably won't. Only his email address got hacked. People are speculating about the fact if his wallet(s) are also hacked, but I doubt Satoshi would have such bad security.

who would come up with a ransom demand of 25 btc when having access to 1 000 000 btc ?

Bringing Bitcoin to Braintree developers

We believe in customer choice -- choice in terms of the device they want to pay on, the OS they prefer to use, and even the payment method they want to pay with. With Braintree’s new partnership with Coinbase, merchants and developers that have integrated with Braintree’s v.zero SDK will be able to easily begin accepting bitcoin in the coming months, enabling their customers to pay with the alternative currency across their favorite apps.

in my view btc is the ultimate investment. 2014 performance is kinda depressing but the year is not over yet.

dear party attendants:

the btc1k party as it was announced in this thread is cancelled.

reasons: an important reason for this step is that Bits of Proof, the company which designed the ticket sale procedure was sold to cointerra.  http://www.coindesk.com/cointerra-acquires-bitcoin-software-developer-bits-proof/

tamas blummer aka grau informed us that a regular handling of the ticket and entry procedure cannot be guaranteed anymore and proposed to cancel the event.

furthermore, it was difficult to plan a larger event with substantial funds needed without having any kind of date. location, stage, class a catering, security,  etc - the better stuff you want on such an event, the earlier this must be booked.

this does not mean that we do not believe that bitcoin will ever reach that level again. i personally believe in a bright future of bitcoin.

nevertheless, we came to the conclusion that the way we imagined this party uses more of our resources (time, cash, strength) -especially in this permament "on-hold" condition - that we can bear. we founded a limited company and also had other expenses related to the planning of this event. those expenses are growing due to tax requirements and we would rather want this to stop. the expenses are in the 4 digit $ area and i guess we will just swallow them.

when we announced the party bitcoin was at $ 140,- and we expected a slow and steady rise, so we could evolve this party idea in this forum. some forum members thought it was way to early to start planning this event. we all know what happened shortly after this: the november rise fucked with our brilliant btc1k plans in various ways. it was great to see this rise, but it took the magic out of the party idea to some extend, because it "already happened". then, when never climbing back until now it fucked us again with this endless postponing, hoping, keeping anyone who got involved "on hold" forever until everyone was tired.

what about the funds ?

the funds will be paid back. tamas suggested to transfer the btc that have been paid so far to the paper wallets that represent the tickets. i like this idea. if, however, anyone wants his bitcoin send to another adress, i am sure we will be able to do this.

is that the end of it all ?

maybe there are others who share our vision of this party who want to continue this adventure. the btc1k idea could be given to other hands.  it better be someone with good marketing skills (social media...) and a flexible schedule. those who have already aquired a ticket could decide to keep their funds with a possible new team if they wish.

bulleric of the btc1k orga team has several ideas about the future of the btc1k party that he may present in this thread for further discussion.

i am sorry that it didn´t work out the way we announced it. btc will reach $ 1000,- someday and i am sure that there will be a party somewhere...

This market is completely fucked. Right now we are simply watching it getting it destroyed. Bitcoin is becoming worthless.
Nobody around me talks about it anymore let alone considers investing in it.

What sane person would put money in a market where he is guaranteed to get dumped on the next day?
The dumpers are destroying the market. It's that simple.
They will keep doing it till we can't go lower anymore. Only then are they happy and will move on.

exactly. it is really weird that the usmarshall service had a better understanding of timing an auction than most (?) of us in this forum. different to the "the auction will bring prices down to 250" screamers, a good part of the speculation subforum was bullish, even short term.  now, that prices went down anyway will make every possible investor careful to just wait a little bit longer to see if it goes down even more. no one wants to pull another draper stunt.

i guess we just have to wait for the final final final capitulation. i am really tired of this. 2014 rally... damned...

4156  Economy / Speculation / Re: You'd better sell when APPLE competes with bitcoin.. on: September 01, 2014, 11:17:23 PM
You mean the same Apple that leave a brute-force system open and got its cloud hacked?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I don't think that's how it works.  If my bank gets robbed/some ATM gets hacked, I don't lose any money.  I don't even lose money if someone cards me.  Or even if my PayPal gets compromised.  I don't need to worry about the nuts & bolts.
Unlike Bitcoin, there are entities backing those payment services.

As for banks and stuff, you just have 0's and 1's. Your a fool to think that if everyone ran to your bank right now, how much cash you think your going to get?

in germany banks hold only 2% . if only 3% of the customers freak out... epic bank holiday.  Shocked
4157  Economy / Speculation / Re: You'd better sell when APPLE competes with bitcoin.. on: September 01, 2014, 04:15:33 PM
i was a bit worried about apple doing some kind of itunes stunt after they learned what napster was capable of. was afraid they planned the same with some imoney crypto.

now they are teaming up with the dinosaurs. their crypto research compartment lost the internal battle. good for us.

i am not worried anymore.
4158  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: September 01, 2014, 04:06:03 PM
Not getting more into bitcoin despite my interest at the time when I stumbled across it multiple times in 2011, 2012 and late 2013.

You are still early.  We are all still early.  Smiley  It takes a while to jump into Bitcoin for most of us so the people just hearing about it now will probably wait a year or two then finally buy in 2016 and regret not buying any sooner then.

Do you really think I'm still in time to be an early adopter of bitcoins?
The price is falling since months...

would you feel better to buy after it has risen for months ?

Wink
