4141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help recovering 2FA on electrum wallet on: November 26, 2020, 02:04:11 AM
No i don't have it anymore. It was too long ago...i couldn't find that file anywhere. Is there something else i could do?
Since the 2FA service in Electrum is provided by TrustedCoin, the only thing you can do is to contact them and ask them to reset the 2FA for you.
I don't know whether they will help you or not. But try it. That's the only option you have now.

For contacting TrustedCoin, use the email address you used for creating your wallet in Electrum.

Do you have your seed phrase?
Seed phrase is a series of words that electrum gave you when you created your wallet.

If so, create a new wallet. Select Standard wallet and then "I already have a seed". After that enter your seed phrase.
In the case you enter the correct seed phrase, you will have the option to disable 2FA.

Yesterday, I reported 13 posts from ValerieChristaldi.
All posts made by this user include links to a certain website.

As displayed in the image above, 8 of those posts were deleted and 5 of them were not affected although all of my reports have been marked as good.
Those 5 posts haven't been deleted, probably because they were topics starter and there are many other posts made by other users in those threads. I expected those threads to be locked at least. But they were not.

The user paid no attention to deleted posts and created 4 more posts with links to that website today.

4146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction stuck unconfirmed on: November 24, 2020, 05:53:17 PM
Thanks, the fee per byte is Fee per byte
39.283 sat/B
So, now your transaction is about 15 mb from the tip. Currently, there are about 35,000 transactions with higher priority than yours.
It's normal that it takes a bit long time to get confirmed.

I am used to transactions taking like 10-15 minutes, as I just sent from coinbase to my own hard wallet and it only took a few minutes then I sent the same amount from the hard wallet to another address which seems to be taking forever. I guess I should just wait?
That transaction got confirmed that fast, because it had been broadcast with a high fee rate. Probably with more than 60 satoshi per vbyte.
And don't worry about your transaction. I expect it to get confirmed in the next 24 hours and in the worst case on the weekends.

What if the address I've sent to isn't native segwit compatible?
Don't worry.
You can send from any BTC address to any BTC address.
4147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction stuck unconfirmed on: November 24, 2020, 05:34:29 PM
The network is congested now and that's probably why your transaction hasn't been confirmed yet.
If you are not in hurry, just wait. Your transaction will finally be confirmed. In the worst case, it will probably be confirmed on the weekends.

I've never had trouble with segwit, is native segwit slower or something?
No, that's not the problem.
Using native segwit addresses, you can even get faster confirmations.

Not sure what to do. The fee was like $1.66.
What determines the priority of transaction to be confirmed isn't the total fee you pay.
What matters is the fee you pay per vbyte.

Plagiarized post: Re: Can bitcoin make someone the richest in the world?, (Archived)

Jeff Bezos is the world’s richest man with a net worth of $130 billion according to the 2019 Forbes list. The founder of Amazon, the e-commerce colossus, has been rumored countless times to have invested in Bitcoin. Plus, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has been quoted saying that he expects Bezos’s online retail giant to be the catalyst for the next Bitcoin bull run.

The post has been copy-pasted from sixth paragraph of this article on cointelegraph. (Archived)
4149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Some questions about Fee per byte and Fee per vbyte on: November 22, 2020, 11:28:21 PM
In the first transaction all inputs are legacy addresses and there is no witness data. This makes the fee per vbyte equal to fee per byte.
But in a transaction with segwit input, the fee per byte is lower than the fee per vbyte.
The reason is that, in a segwit transaction, there are some witness data that take less space from the block. So, miners get lower fee from transactions with segwit addresses.

Note that every transaction has a size and a weight and can include some witness data and some non-witness data. 1 byte of witness data is equivalent to 1 weight unit and 1 byte of non-witness data is equivalent to 4 weight units. We can also say that every 1 byte of non-witness data is equivalent to 1vbyte and every 1 byte of witness data is equivalent to 0.25 vbyte.
In a legacy transaction (A transaction in which all inputs are legacy addresses) all data are non-witness.
In a segwit transaction (A transaction in which there is at least 1 segwit input), there is some witness data. (There is some non-witness data too, off course)
So when it comes to vbytes, a segwit transaction takes less space than a legacy transaction. Therefore, miners get lower fee for a segwit transaction and the fee per byte is less than the fee per vbyte.
4150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Only got the old wallets address, possible to use it? on: November 22, 2020, 07:27:24 PM
We tried to use dumpprivkey THE_ADRESS_OF_THE_WALLET but got the "invalid code-5" as a response. Maybe we did something wrong?
Do you mean "Invalid Bitcoin address (code -5)"?
If so, what you entered is not a valid bitcoin address.
That may be an altcoin's address. If that's a bitcoin address, it must start with 1, 3 or bc1. Otherwise, it's not a bitcoin address.

Isn't your friend from a country which is in OFAC list?

List of banned countries, OFAC

There are two lists in this article.
People from the first list are banned.
People from the second list are not banned, but they need to verify their account.

I haven't ever used Paxful off course, I just made a google search.

Below is what I saw in all 21 questions.
I didn't really see any question and just had to select one of these four shapes by chance.
I could answer 1 question correctly and won the third place.  Grin

I entered the game PIN and then my username (same as my bitcointalk username). I didn't see any count down. I pressed CTRL+F5 and went back to the home page. It asked the game PIN again.
I entered that. It asked my username again. I entered my username but got error "Sorry, that nickname is taken."
Seems that there is no way to participate, unless I use a new username.
Am I allowed to use a different username? If yes, I will use a very similar username.
4155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need some help on posting about Hitbtc exchange. on: November 21, 2020, 06:24:48 PM
I think the best board for making the post is exchanges board, unless it's an issue about an altcoin on the exchange.

Exchanges (child board of Service Discussion) - "Discussion about specific exchanges, Bitcoin ATMs, and Bitcoin debit cards. ". Emphasis on Bitcoin - discussions about altcoin issues on exchanges don't belong here.

In the case you are going to post about an altcoin's issue on the exchange, in my opinion, the most suitable board is Service Discussion (Altcoins).
If you are going to post about something fishy, I think the best board is Scam Accusations.
4156  Other / Meta / Re: Suspicious link removed on: November 21, 2020, 05:27:35 PM
Now, for what I remember on other forums, suspicious links are hand-removed; there's no automated mechanism to redact them. ........
As far as I know, links to URL shorteners are removed automatically and replaced by "Suspicious link removed".
4157  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Just updated and can't see FX rate on: November 20, 2020, 04:45:07 PM
I just did a reinstalled and it is working fine now. I think it is possible the first installation was corrupted. I verified the signatures so we are all good.
A user has reported a same issue in electrum page on GitHub. His problem was also solved after re-installing electrum.

Given what I read in that thread, seems that this happens when you install the new version of electrum while the old version is running.
The windows installer doesn't give any error before it starts to delete old files. This causes some old files that are in use to not get deleted.
Windows installers gives error once it starts to overwrite files that are in use. The user closes electrum and clicks on "retry". The installation is completed but some extra files from the old version still exist. Those extra files make electrum not work well.

is there a way to know how ofter the house distributes payments higher than the minimum on the free bitcoin option?

lucky numbers from 9886 to 10000?
Since the game is provably fair and numbers are determined completely random, the probability of hitting those numbers can be easily calculated.
The probability of hitting a number between 9,886 and 10,000 is 1.14%. It means that, users are awarded higher than the base reward in 1.14% of free rolls they play.
4159  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How to "take profit" in Kraken on: November 19, 2020, 09:59:21 PM
Use Primary Order for placing your buy order and Conditional Close for placing your sell order.

Assume that you want to buy 1 bitcoin once the price reaches 18,500 dollar and sell it at 20,000 dollar.
You must set the limit price in primary order section at 18,500 dollar and the limit price in conditional close section at 20,000 dollar.

Once the price reaches 18,500, your buy order is executed and a sell order at 20,000 dollar will be created.

Visit the link below for more information.

Since you have the option when restoring from a seed to create a new wallet, or import it into an existing one you may have created a new wallet, and Electrum is using the default wallet that you haven't imported your seed into.
For importing a seed phrase into electrum, you have to create a new wallet. Its' impossible to import a seed phrase into an existing wallet, unless I am missing something here.
In very old versions of electrum, users were only allowed to import a private key into an existing HD wallet. Now, even that feature has been removed.
