Will Common Core sink Bush? This guy is frmr President George W. Bush's brother, fyi. Jeb Bush’s Common Core problems may just be getting started.
Karl Rove has already said the former Florida governor’s support for the set of nationalized education standards will be his biggest challenge in seeking the GOP presidential nomination. His likely rival, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), has predicted it will doom Bush in the primaries.
That starts in Iowa and South Carolina, where conservatives there say backlash against Common Core has become the hot-button issue among grassroots voters in their states. "It's huge,” said Sam Clovis, an influential conservative activist in Iowa. “I think it's a disqualifier…we have pretty strong feelings out here about life and marriage, and Common Core is right up there as an issue that really energizes the base.”
Luke Byars, a South Carolina GOP strategist, called Common Core a “hornet’s nest” and “the defining issue” of the state-level elections in 2014 in the Palmetto State, predicting it will “boil over” into 2016. Lindsey Graham 'definitely' considering 2016 bidAs you'll see, this guy is a neoconservative republican Senator from South Carolina and is the wingman of John McCain, another neocon Senator from Arizona. Both have been for the US funding and training so-called Syrian rebels that eventually aid ISIS in their pursuit of terrorism. Frankly, he/they are both big time interventionists in the vein of Bush et al that the world has come to hate America for. I doubt he's even serious about becoming President, only crowding the debate stages w/ more neocon interventionist rhetoric trying to reclaim the GOP to full blown war hawking and minimizing the likes of Rand Paul. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday said he was seriously considering a White House bid in 2016.
"I am definitely going to look at it," Graham said on Meet the Press.
Graham said he had established a "testing the waters" committee to probe his viability in a GOP primary. The revelation comes after Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush have in recent weeks aggresively maneuvered their way into the race. http://www.theweek.com/speedreads/534329/sen-lindsey-graham-definitely-considering-2016-bidHe just started one of those preliminary presidential PACs to raise money and travel to test the waters. Saw it reported on Fox today. BTW, this will be a running thread showing BTC interested Americans and foreigners what's going on and leading into the presidential primaries of both parties heading into 2016. This will skew on the republican side as there's a current democrat president and currently a nominee in waiting in the form of Hillary Clinton, but I'll showcase the left side to as it heats up.

I remember this photo from during the riot period just before the president was ousted and then Russia sent in to the eastern territory iirc. Then the hot Ukrainian chick came out with that youtube video about the people just wanting freedom. That's all I got atm.

Super Bowl 49 is set.
It will be the Patriots vs the Seahawks.
I'm rooting for the Patriots.
NFL Super Bowl XLIX Sunday, February 1, 6:30 PM on NBC University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
seahawks will win it again Normally I'd agree with you on that but Richard Sherman hurt or got his arm over extended this weekend so unless that gets better in the next few weeks, he may not be as effective. I really can't stand the Patriots however.

“Silk Road was founded on libertarian principles and continues to be operated on them. It is a great idea and a great practical system…It is not a utopia. It is regulated by market forces, not a central power (even I am subject to market forces by my competition. No one is forced to be here). The same principles that have allowed Silk Road to flourish can and do work anywhere human beings come together. The only difference is that the State is unable to get its thieving murderous mitts on it.” - Dread Pirate Roberts
New York City – On Tuesday the trial of Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht will continue in a federal courthouse in the Southern District of New York City.
Ulbricht is accused of trafficking drugs on the Internet, narcotics-trafficking conspiracy, computer-hacking conspiracy and money-laundering conspiracy for his role as the creator of the Silk Road and for allegedly being the man behind the online persona that ran the marketplace, Dread Pirate Roberts. In the first week of the trial the prosecution attempted to convince the jury that Ulbricht was DPR by showcasing exhibit after exhibit of drugs purchased by undercover officer with the Homeland Security Investigations.
The government claims that Ulbricht was running the administrative side of the website during these and other drug purchases and thus should be held responsible for the purchases. The government is claiming Ulbricht is responsible under something known as “transferred intent”.This doctrine will allow the government to attempt to convince the jury that Ulbricht is responsible for the activities of the website itself, whether or not he was directly involved. Ross’s mother Lyn Ulbricht has said that if the precedent is set during her son’s trial it could “put a chill on the internet.”
Indeed, if the governments arguments convince the jury that Ulbricht is guilty of the crimes by simply hosting them it could create a dangerous situation where website owners could be held responsible for users comments on a site, or for the products sold on ebay or craigslist.
As the IB Times wrote, “If found guilty he will go down as the first person in history to be convicted for the actions of the users of his website, rather than merely his own actions.”

They will be able to bring us down but not for long because bitcoin is known to withstand all the hurdles. Soon enough we'll be back up standing and to the moon.
I am with you to reach the moon, bitcoin is in fact not a site Abal Abal are easily lost and disappeared. he is very tough, he just needs time to rest. and not a moment longer he will be much more powerful than before I'm calling bullshit. there it is

If you went to buy mining equipment rather than buy bitcoins, what are you thinking at this point? You'd need terahash eq to even keep up but that which would mean spending money that would buy you over 5 bitcoins to do so. Dumb as hell, just buy. yo

I don't understand why bitcoiners watch the price so much.
I say face the reality. A truly rational person wouldn't feel the need to come in here and try talking about how everyone not investing in Bitcoin is an idiot. If they believe in it, then what others do wouldn't matter, and they wouldn't need to check the price constantly. That's all. Good luck to you all, I don't feel like this industry has any merit any longer. It feels like when Tamagotchi's went out of style. Maybe this will have more success in ten years. I don't understand why bitcoiners watch the price so much.
Price is everything at this moment. Oh, dear zavtra, thank you for your presence but i hope you sleep well at night and not puke. Your thesis was awful and I do mean that. Nobody is here pushing a penny stock, most of us have a net worth far above that. ok fine. In regards to businesses accepting BTC, if you're not still in the dark ages you'd realize how far BTC has come and where it is accepted. List them for me is your next homework assignment. ty Oh lord, Russia is constantly proving it hard for citizens to buy bitcoin at reliable places and furthermore to hold which is why this talk about them is materializing. It ain't banned as u know. And there you go like some luddite talking about that which you do not know. Crap, you brought a freaking VCR into your argument. And to complete the line, don't ever talk about Bitcoin with dogeshit ever again in the same sentence if you expect to be taken serious anywhere near this watering hole. And upon further reading, this was the most useless to reply to so I'm sorry to have done this: What an interesting point from the river separating North Korea from China. This OP has went off the rails and quit like he should have. Yay!

I live just outside of Dearborn, MI. So, don't tell me about being calm or whatever. However, the ones I've seen and the bunch my bro just got married to are harmless. Cheer up, most of them are good but they really don't deal with nor have any clue about their overseas downfalls.

Rand Interviewed on WMUR - Manchester, the Major News Station in New HampshireNH is the 1st in the nation primary hence the relative importance plus I lived in Manchester at once. Peep the 13 min segment on the keynote station in NH during his visit earlier last week - http://www.wmur.com/politics/closeup/closeup-rand-paul-confused-by-romney-2016-speculation/30699386This is a major interview that most of NH's news viewers saw like and NBC/ABC in other states. The contents are foreign policy, Rand's potential Prez run, Surveillance of Americans, the NYC policing situation, etc. I surely hope that bitcoinland is seeing who is the best person to affect humanity no matter your position on the libertarian to socialist spectrum. Any rightward leaning person should see that a libertarian is the best solution for responsible economics and all you lefties should realize that the phony left that will coronate Hillary as your person should realize that you have plenty of crucial commonalities w/ the anti-establishment right aka Rand Paul and his libertarian social issues so that we can rally against the establishment co-op of both parties that are pro-military industrial complex, corporate media, govt surveillance, bankster mafia that is kicking you in the balls over debt and currency and what the fuck ever else. See the light and grow a pair and do what's right! If you're for the common man and decency, stop being a tool via the media complex and check out the libertarian alternative in the GOP, it's fucking Rand Paul yo. You can't be sympathetic to Occupy anywhere and think that Hillary is anything less than a Dick Cheney-John McCain radical war mongerer. If you do, then you will have to stare yourself in the mirror and surrender whatever principles you claim to hold. It's the libertarian right and the true progressives that are bulls on parade here. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Unite or let the Bush-Clinton crime syndicate run your life. That's right I said it!

Rand Paul on MTV for MLK dayMTV to Air in Black and White for the First Time in Network History, Share Artist, Politician and Audience Perspectives on Race on Martin Luther King, Jr. DayThrough New Initiative #TheTalk, MTV to Engage its Audiences in a “Color Brave” Conversation Led by Cultural Figures Including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Big Sean, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Penn Badgley, Jordin Sparks, Pete Wentz, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. John Lewis, Sen. Cory Booker and more
NEW YORK, Jan 18, 2015 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- today announced an expansion of its Look Different anti-bias campaign called #TheTalk, a multiscreen effort to encourage its audience to have candid, confident and “color brave” conversations on race with family and friends. According to a 2014 MTV study*, 73% of Millennials believe having more open constructive conversations about bias would help people become less prejudiced.
“Millennials believe strongly in fairness, but they can also find it difficult to talk openly about race – to be not simply ‘color blind’ but ‘color brave,’” said Stephen Friedman, President of MTV. “Our audience is looking for a way to bring the national conversation on race into their homes and this campaign will give them a forum to express true color bravery.”
#TheTalk will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day when MTV will kick off a 12-hour period in which all programming will air in black and white for the first time in the network’s history. Every commercial block will begin with personal reflections on race from luminaries including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Big Sean, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Penn Badgley, Jordin Sparks, Pete Wentz, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. John Lewis, Sen. Cory Booker and more. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/mtv-to-air-in-black-and-white-for-the-first-time-in-network-history-share-artist-politician-and-audience-perspectives-on-race-on-martin-luther-king-jr-day-2015-01-18Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the USA and I'm sure most people have an idea about the roots of this holiday. Clearly, Rand is like the only republican that has shown any intentions of helping out the black community and this is what he's been trying to showcase giving him a leg up in the upcoming GOP primary as only he can add more black and minority voters to the GOP in the future and specifically in the General Election. I'm sure there'll be footage at some point. This isn't some channel that I'd normally watch but it trends in certain age groups and demographics.

GOP presidential hopeful Paul finds support in RenoRepublican presidential hopeful Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., made his first campaign visit to Reno Saturday only to find out that his father has already done a lot of groundwork to boost his popularity.
Former Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul captured 22 of Nevada's 25 delegates to the National Republican Convention in 2012 -- even though Mitt Romney easily won that year's Nevada GOP presidential caucus. And Ron Paul's good name now gives his son a ready-made set of supporters in Reno.
A meeting at the Atlantis with local GOP activists and some elected officials was standing-room-only, thanks to his father.
"I support Rand because of his father, Ron, who was the most honest person in government," said Jim Uprichard, who attended the meeting. "I feel that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. So Rand has to be following in his father's footsteps."
Rand Paul, in a private interview, acknowledged that his father has laid groundwork for him in Nevada. However, Rand Paul said he must be his own man if he expects to win the Nevada GOP caucus or the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
"If I end up doing this (running for president), I really have to be my own person and present my ideas and issues," Rand Paul said. "That doesn't mean my father and I are not from the same tradition in the sense that we believe in limited government that is strictly bound by the Constitution, a belief in a reasonable and rational foreign policy that sees some of the unintended consequences of some of the entanglements overseas. I believe, like dad, about the all-consuming problem about (the federal government) spending money we don't have." More and check out what the Democratic spokesperson has to say about him... http://www.rgj.com/story/news/politics/2015/01/18/gop-presidential-hopeful-paul-finds-support-reno/21941993/

The Nasdaq was helped along by stimulus and bailout money being injected for at least the last 3-4 years, so that was an artificial growth pattern. OTOH, bitcoin is an emerging disruptive technology that will speak for itself and organically bring lots of interest and investment its own way in a much shorter time span.

Except that the moral of this story was that he 'bought' at the low of $3 after the crash and likening it to the current low of $200ish. So low on low over this period is a growth in the low of approximately 1500%. Considering all the behind the scenes things that have been going on over the years and specifically last year, we could be seeing a nasty and violent upward parabolic move that could be helped along by everything to distrust in the financial markets, new ETFs, regulations and a regulator that will standardize such things for this crypto across the country and one who is also predicting great success in Bitcoin going forward, many new conferences this new year showcasing the new technology to new people thus spurring much more added interest, among other things indicating bullish behaviors are returning. As time goes by and an uptrend solidifies itself we'll see less and less nonsense posting here and then once the real rally gets under way, whatever stupid comments that are left will vanish in one fell swoop. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Seems to me that we're already way oversold so I'm doubting (not ruling out, but..) any further dumps to any ridiculous newer lows. Looks like we're gonna slowly go up for the next week and perhaps see a mild retraction if any next weekend, then keep climbing. I won't get any more bullish than that until further notice. I'm long but would reconsider depending if any support is broken.

According to an article at The Wall Street Journal, President Obama has sided with British Prime Minister David Cameron in saying that police and government agencies should not be blocked by encryption from viewing the content of cellphone or online communications, making the pro-spying arguments everyone has come to expect:
“If we find evidence of a terrorist plot and despite having a phone number, despite having a social media address or email address, we can’t penetrate that, that’s a problem,” Obama said. He said he believes Silicon Valley companies also want to solve the problem. “They’re patriots.” ... The president on Friday argued there must be a technical way to keep information private, but ensure that police and spies can listen in when a court approves. The Clinton administration fought and lost a similar battle during the 1990s when it pushed for a “clipper chip” that would allow only the government to decrypt scrambled messages. More... http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2015/01/16/obama-sides-with-cameron-in-encryption-fight/Remember the press conference the other day with the two of them where it was Cameron that was all passionate about fighting radical Islam and Obama beating around the bush calling the situation what it was? Then you had the pundits on panels on the big corporate channels (specifically Fox) whining about how Obama was being so nonchalant on the matter. Turns out he was just playing the script well and loose thus leaving room for these media personalities to gin up the viewers into thinking that the opposite of what Obama was doing or perceived to be doing about the situation was the way to go. Here's the big picture behind the scenes that was being orchestrated for and the rubes were being played for fools. They don't even know they were being swindled to tacitly advocate for more govt surveillance as the NSA not only wants to stem and reverse the anti-NSA sentiments that have been growing amongst the people and boiling over into Congress but to actually use the present situation overseas and the media's presentation that social media and the internet was the problem, to push for and solidify more spying powers for the all seeing eyes at the top of the intelligence food changes in the domestic realm.

Political correctness has long ago went too far and hopefully now more Americans are becoming tired of hearing about it or having to tip toe around certain issues because they don't want to offend some minority group. We're all individuals but that's the wonderful thing about putting people into groups: you can keep them fighting each other and keeping the media focused on it when, in reality, these various individuals should be focusing their efforts on those in the academia, media, govt, banking industry, MIC, etc that are bankrupting the futures of all these petty, fooled and squabbling individuals that have been corralled in to groups.

This might be meaningless to those outside of American but when you consider what goes on or is alleged to go on there and what the penalties are for stepping over the line, I think it's pretty intriguing actually. It's a 12 min clip of some dudes on a spring break of sorts to Vegas when they decide to get up close and personal. They happen upon some elder ladies that are lost but were looking for the gate.. You'll have to watch to see what happens next and then offer some thoughts as to what you think happened if anything. I've watched quite a few times in the past, definitely a good short watch especially if you have any sort of knowledge on the place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_Nt0jgGNek
