4161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin difficult to understand on: September 13, 2020, 09:43:50 PM
^^ exactly.
You don't have to understand all the aspects of bitcoin or know how things work under the hood to be able to start sending and receiving bitcoins.Even if you are not a tech savy guy, all it takes is someone who explains and show you the basics like how to create a wallet and how to secure it.
I think it's time to stop spreading such wrong ideas, that bitcoin isn't for everyone and you have to be a genius to use it.
4162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Are Trying To Break Into This Bitcoin Wallet Holding $690 Million on: September 13, 2020, 09:20:29 PM
someone who has access with quantum computers may try this decrypting the pw.

technically, you don't decrypt a wallet file password but you brute force it which is totally based on luck and the length/complexity of the password.

Quote
but first, is the wallet.dat file circulating the real one? i guess just as fake as it can be.
I am sure the wallet file is fake and all this article is just bs. Just take a look at the photo they posted, the member who shared the file is a newbie on that hackers forum. Why should any one trust him knowing that there is no way to tell for sure if the encrypted private key is the one for the address in question.
4163  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance app order history, cannot go back more than 3 months?! on: September 13, 2020, 08:04:38 PM
...
OK, thanks for the explanation @hosseinimr93. (am not a regular user of Binance)
So it's like tabulation, you have to click next (move back two months in this case) to see the next page but you can't jump directly to a specific page.
Now it makes sense but still not sure which is more resource intensive on the back end though.
4164  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance app order history, cannot go back more than 3 months?! on: September 13, 2020, 07:14:16 PM
Good to know you found a way to retrieve the data you need  Smiley
Probably, they add this restriction to reduce the load on their servers. Just imagine how many orders you will find on a trading bot's order history! (maybe they don't know about the workaround).
2-3 months seems reasonable to me. On some exchanges you can't see more than the last 100 orders or so.

I'll report it binance and see what they will do about it.
Please keep us updated. am interested to know if it really has anything to do with server load.
4165  Other / Meta / Re: Appeal the ban on: September 13, 2020, 06:42:01 PM
Instead of posting outside this ban appeal thread and breaking the rules again you could hire a reputable manager or ask someone you trust to keep an eye on your giveaway thread and post updates thete on your behalf.

Now because of this silly mistake, you may get a perma-ban.
4166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Brave add PhishFort to help prevent phishing attacks on their browsers. on: September 13, 2020, 05:59:06 PM
I am not a fan of Brave and have never used it and advice everyone to stay away from it especially after their latest scandal.
However, I read their tweet and FishFort's announcement and want to know if only the wallet users will benefit from this protection or all users of the browser?
Also, since PhisFort have a paying service, am not sure how reliable their open-source solution is!
4167  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: September 13, 2020, 05:03:38 PM
Bah! If you're hiding your name, you shouldn't be able to participate in the promotions. How is anyone supposed to confirm that those users exist?
...
Actually, revealing participants usernames wouldn't prove anything. If the casino's intention was to manipulate the results then nothing can stop them from creating fake accounts and announce them as winners.
However, it would be nice to know how the winning tickets are being drawn.. or maybe use a provably fair system for this so we can check the results.
4168  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For your ready reference on phishing! on: September 13, 2020, 04:40:09 PM
Looks like crypto users became the main target of scammers and with all these tools sold on the dark web it's not that hard to set up a phishing website.
You don't have to be a hacker or have any technical knowledge.
Lobsterpot Method, I think this is the most used method by phishers when targeting crypto users. Almost every known exchange or web wallet have hundreds of fake clones.
I don't think key-loggers fall under the phishing category though.
4169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to save on transaction fee : Wallets are giving us a wrong estimation on: September 13, 2020, 02:52:34 PM
...
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend using any of the wallets you mentioned especially coinbase. It may be a good and reputable exchange but shouldn't be used as a personal wallet although it charges less fees compared to other exchanges.

The simplest available option to reduce the transaction fee for Bitcoin is to use the Bitcoin lightning Network...
Using the lightning network isn't always an option. The one you are going to send coins to must be accepting lightning payments. Besides, if you are going to use LN just for one transaction then it will cost more than a regular on-chain transaction.
4170  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sparrow Bitcoin Wallet on: September 13, 2020, 01:40:50 PM
One of the reason for which I would probably download this wallet and give it a try is the possibility to import Electrum wallets. AFAIK, bluewallet is the only wallet that supports importing electrum seeds.
More users will be interested in using it if they release a mobile version.
I agree with posts above, it too early to trust them with our coins as it's still relatively new and we are not sure how secure it is.
4171  Other / Meta / Re: Self Moderated thread All Posts Deleted on: September 13, 2020, 12:08:12 PM
Well, this is what you get from engaging in a discussion with a troll. I think this was his intention from the beginning when he started a self-moderated thread!
He will abuse whatever privileges this forum offers to piss you off.

Regarding your post count, it's not really a big deal as long as you are working with a good campaign manager.

you can find any drleted/unedited post on: https://loyce.club/archive/

bL4nkcode is right, scams aren't moderated here but you can tag the scammer and create a flag against him.
If convinced by the proofs you provided, more members will tag him and will support the flag.
4173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Eterbase Exchange Hacked, Don't Leave Your Funds on Any Exchange! on: September 12, 2020, 11:15:03 PM
What I find odd is keeping around 5.4$ million worth of assets on their hot wallets! I don't think they really need that much to "facilitate their daily trading activity".
It looks like their domain name is redirecting to google.com. No idea what they did that too! They have to keep their website up and use it to post updates. This may lead to more frustration among investors.
4174  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 2fa account - rare problem on: September 12, 2020, 10:23:29 PM
I don't think it's possible. Uou could try contacting their support email but realistically you'd need to get their server to comply with whatever you set up...
True, this is the only way to get his money back as it's been already sent to Trustedcoin.
Someone on Reddit said that he contacted them and they agreed to refund him. This is the only case I heard of and it happened two years ago so I wouldn't get my hopes up!

4175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't use your bitcointalk account password on other websites on: September 12, 2020, 08:32:07 PM
As an IT I understand that passwords in a website are actually encrypted so even the programmers or the websites should not be able to see your password at least.
...
This is not always true. It depends entirely on the website you are using and its owner.
The owner/developer is the one who decides how passwords are going to be saved on the database (plain text or encrypted).
As a user and without having access to the website's back end, there is no way to know how passwords are being saved.

Using an exclusive computer linux  based to access your cryto related website businesses is a great step.
I encourage everyone to use Linux but it doesn't mean you are going to be 100% safe. A Linux OS can be hacked too and it doesn't matter which OS you are using if you enter your credentials into a phishing website.

4178  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to check whether your email address has been compromised? on: September 09, 2020, 10:10:01 PM
...
Each email address which is entered has a high chance of still being used, and so those are the ones they focus on. By using a site like this, you could inadvertently be making yourself a target.
...

This is exactly the first thing that popped into my mind when I knew about the existence of HIBP (a year ago):
...
You may think I am being delusional but here is what I think:
They have a database containing more than 8.500.000.000 email addresses and hashed passwords. Obviously they can't heck them all knowing that most of them are throwaway emails.
By entering your email address there, you are telling them that you care about it and Hence there are high chances that it contains some valuable information.
Also, they provide a service to check if your password was leaked! If you enter your password then they can generate its hash and compare it with other hashes on their database.

I like the way you think : )
