4161  Other / Meta / Re: This forum has resources to make significant changes on: January 29, 2023, 03:24:11 AM
I find bitcointalk's basicness unique. I remember surfing this forum on Nokia keypad phone, it worked well. Modern look requires much resources, whether it be from development view or from consumers pov.

Most members here are privacy centric. You could disable js, bitcointalk will work as if nothing happened. Modern looks don't.

Also, the forum where 21th century's financial revolution has begun and the forum where the most innovative and gamechanger currencies were created, shouldn't look like the 90's web page. Blame me if you want but this is the truth. Theymos shouldn't let this forum down!
4162  Other / Meta / Re: New bitcointalk rank? 🔥 on: January 29, 2023, 03:10:40 AM

I think the new rank should be at least 2.5K merit, similar like how Full member rank up to Senior Member. After 2.5K, then 5K and 10K, however after all there's no end since merit keep increasing and there's no any "adjustment".

We could have something like requirement where user must earn certain number of merits and activity within period to stay in that new rank oherwise be kicked out. For this rank to be attained, the base member rank must be leggy.
4163  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 29, 2023, 02:56:15 AM
Vpns could also be used in mobile phones if you only know how to use it properly.

It's simple as desktops on mobile phones too, plenty vpn apps available in Google/ios stores. If you want vpn that only works within browsers then use extension supported browsers like kiwi/lemur/mises on android and orion on ios.
4164  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔴Your Guide to Registering at ⚡ Vave.com ⚡ Crypto Casino 🔴 100 Free Spins*🔴 on: January 28, 2023, 03:16:11 AM

👉 Create your account at www.vave.com

Use this promo code to get 10 free spins on Lady Wolf Moon as a reward: VAVEREWARD

This indicates that users can fund their casino balance from their existing crypto wallets with Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and other cryptocurrencies. They may also deposit and withdraw to their crypto wallet; withdrawals are fast and seamless.

I don't get the statement, are you supposed to deposit to get FS? If yes, what's minimum amount? I just created account with promo code but I don't see any free spins.

4165  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a chrome extension to receive forum notifications? on: January 28, 2023, 02:52:15 AM

If someone feels generous, you could revive @hatshepsut93's push notification bot. Strange no one has mentioned it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178331.0

Are you sure this bot is working? I tried it but it doesn't give anything.
This link is not working also gives an error : https://bct-quote-notifier.herokuapp.com

Yes it does not work anymore, I thought it was stated explicitly in comment, "If someone feels generous, you could revive @hatshepsut93's push notification bot.".

Since there are no other options, Metamask is being used exclusively. The better alternative, though, is a notification bot.

What metamask got to do here?
4166  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a chrome extension to receive forum notifications? on: January 27, 2023, 04:49:04 AM
But I always have to open Telegram to receive notifications, so I thought that installing the Google Chrome extension would be easier.

Don't you have notifications enabled on your telegram? With those enabled, it'd work good as what you are asking in op.

If someone feels generous, you could revive @hatshepsut93's push notification bot. Strange no one has mentioned it.

if i were am victim, i will not reconcile with that cheating cousin, unless she returns all my winnings that she has used, how about you?

It was mistake on victim's behalf for trusting other person and stupidity on Argueta's part for fucking up easy $50k.

If I were to be in victim's position I would satsify myself with justification that lesser amount received was cost for the lesson learned.

Some applications replacing original apps for widely known services are very badly made.  Twitter clients replacing the original app for example.  Reddit clients too.

Have you tried Harpy for Twitter? (however, it may come an end due to this) and Infinity for Reddit?

There are more alternatives to these two and to almost all popular services.

1) https://github.com/pluja/awesome-privacy#reddit

2) https://github.com/Lissy93/awesome-privacy

3) https://github.com/digitalblossom/alternative-frontends

4) https://github.com/mendel5/alternative-front-ends

Links to all these github pages cause each includes something that is excluded in other.
4169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What could make you start using a new crypto wallet today? on: January 26, 2023, 11:21:26 AM
I Have been using Coinomi since it's launch (it was 2k15 afaik), what prompted me to use it then was number of coins supported. It was open source too , but could care less back then.
Bro what? Coinomi wallet is not open source, and this is the first wallet I used that got compromised, there are some bad reviews from users around the globe about this coinomi wallet, if you are still using this wallet you need to swap to other, please users on here, confirm if Coinomi wallet is open source or not because I am so sure it's closed source.

Indeed, It's closed source now. Back then it was open source.

4171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We lose on the long run through return percentage on: January 26, 2023, 04:36:23 AM
Even if you win a huge amount, you can lose. They are numerous stories of people who won the jackpot and ended up spending the whole money back on the casino within a short period, 1 or 2 years, they lost the jackpot.

Money without financial knowledge is soon parted, it's not surprising if money gotten from gambling is soon gone.

Even then, taxes make you end up with lot less that original amount won.

4173  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 25, 2023, 01:48:34 AM
People take loan for houses, live rest of their lives paying for it. Renting is wiser choice imo. But, if you have means do get a house — you'll have roof to sleep under.
4174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 25, 2023, 01:38:17 AM
Still the crypto industry has to deal with bonus abuse, though.  Roll Eyes

Almost all bonuses given these days require wagering requirement to be fulfilled. Imo it deals with bonus abuse fine.

Better remove bonuses completely than putting any further restrictions.
4175  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: January 24, 2023, 01:44:09 PM
That's true. But Coinomi doesn't mention their wallet perform SPV and Coinomi isn't designed with privacy in mind, while Unstoppable wallet does.

Thank you, I just learned what SPV means.
4176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 24, 2023, 01:38:28 PM

Also, 6-team tournament would mean that hosts (USA) gain an automatic entry. So it will be 5 full members + USA?

If that happens it'd be a already lost cause for USA so basically 5 teams competing for 3 medals  Tongue

Meh, I dislike it, been waiting 10 mins just for it to finish initial sync, why this wait when other wallets show the amounts almost instaneously?

I don't doubt that it's secure than closed-source wallets but you could learn few things from them. Look at this data usage, it's just Bitcoin and ethereum, from play store review I gather zcash sync takes 3 gb.

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/14/blob5a0d59016fbda92c.jpeg

As for 3GB usage for Zcash, it's because it's privacy coin where the wallet have to download all block and check whether any transaction belong to the user.

It's supported on coinomi too, you can check the usage in above screenshot.
4178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 24, 2023, 08:07:16 AM
The latest news regarding Olympic inclusion of cricket is that the proposal from ICC is being reviewed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). If it gets approved, then cricket will be included as a 6-team competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. But there are other sports competing for the same spot, including baseball, squash, kickboxing and motorspot. I am not much excited about this, because the ICC has managed to destroy any benefit that may come out of Olympic inclusion by making it a 6-team event. As per reliable sources, the decision from IOC will be finalized by October 2023.

Cricket is already a sports dominated by few countries. Even if it somehow makes it, it'd be thing to see who these 6 teams would be and if it turns out to be squash match like the 1900s Olympics.

4180  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there good wallet decentralized app ? on: January 24, 2023, 04:27:04 AM
Electrum/mycelium for btc, alpha wallet for eth + other evm chains and usdt  (non custodial + open source), lastly for debit card thing you could use prepaid cards loadable with crypto.
What is Alpha wallet?
https://walletscrutiny.com/ gives me an info it's 3 year old discontinued and google search brings a website which times out.
A good recommendation for open-source smart-chain wallets would be appreciated.

Regarding your prepaid card suggestion... I am not aware of any non-KYC let alone an "open-source"/decentralized solution for that.

Was referring to this.
