Buying the last of the cheap Cats now while there's still a chance.

hi,
i am looking for some developers to work with, i am hoping ot pump out 10 or 15 differant scrypt coins a day for the next month or 2. you may ask why, well i know there will be a certain point if i keep jamming coins down everyone throat they will finally start to reject some shitcoins. Maybe after the scrypt apocalypse, only the strong coins will survive, and we will finally have some coins of value and utility.
or maybe we can talk BCX into going on a 51% spree on a bunch of the new coins and see who makes it. what do you guys think.
j
Diversity means only the best coins will survive. If you're just going to pump out the same coin over and over, that's just spamming. If they're all different, then by all means.

A few coins release lately like this, all by members with very low post counts..

well one of the first sales in that google doc was 2.84 BTC for 284 CatCoins so.... something something scam ?
Fair enough. It looks like someone's developed an online wallet system for CatCoins; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392647.new#newWhat do you guys think?

Could you tell us a bit more about this? are the wallet addresses stored in a secure database? Are there any fees?

That actually sounds quite low for AMD cards.
I'm no expert at CGminer, but you may need to tweak your settings.

I am more worried about small scale mining collapsing as a result.
I think eventually the only people really profiting will be those who invest in the hardware. I hope to make a few BTC next year. All of it will be going into hardware.

I keep reading that launching an ALT coin makes the developer a lot of money. If everyone wants new coins not be pre-mined, how does the developer make money?
I believe premining .01% to .90% is ok in order for the devs to be compensated for their efforts. Even if it's just a novelty coin with not much new to offer.
I would like to hear your opinion.
it depends on the coin parameters aswell. ie how long will all coins be generated, when rewards halve. 1% premine is a lot different if only 5% of total coins will be produce in the first year, vs 90% for example. further the devs can make money by paying for or otherwise getting hashpower to mine early like everyone else can. and they can also employ some tricks to increase the probability of getting a big instamine going on. usually though its pretty obvious when this happens and everyone knows what is up. instamine also depend on coin settings, coin can be set up to allow a period of very fast mining, so that is how they can also make money, even without premine Technically, isn't every coin released instamined? Thousands of Mhash of mining instantly after the coin is released. This is proportional to the coin's starting difficulty and difficulty increases. There's absolutely no reason why the difficulty couldn't be adjusted so adoption is more gradual and the coin isn't insta-minded to death at launch.

Dev, I think you need to reconsider logo, it's not the best... Font doesn't match and kitty pic looks a bit silly.
Got to agree. Don't know why he doesn't just set up a competition for the best logo, or do a poll on the ones already submitted. If this has any chance of getting on an exchange, a decent coin image would go a long way. exactly, competition would be great, I can add couple thousands to the fund if required. I would also gladly donate a couple of thousand to the pot. Dev; get on it! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

By the way everyone, I think it's encouraging to see that people who are trading alt coins are trading for Cat Coins more and more. Do we have a trade spreadsheet thread? If not, maybe it's time we got one.

It's not as good as angled, i can't find how to insert skybox for reflections in solidworks.
I'm almost finish "serious" wersion, hope CATs will not die.
![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgifti.me%2Fi%2FznWcGouT3.png&t=663&c=DZI3vP3SKjFBCA) I think this variant has better lighting I think it's really good. Would be great if it looked more shiny. Also, could you take the knurling off the edge of the coin? It looks great on the other renders, so you should definitely keep it for those, but for the official coin image it should be completely round. I think this is what the official coin should look like though. So much more professional. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) previous had better metallic color on the coin I think it has to do with the lighting in the render.

Ok, I admit it. I laughed.

That doesn't have to be the only way the developer makes money, and it shouldn't be. Large premines devalue the currency considerably.
They could mine the coin themselves along with everyone else, or accept donations instead.

120 blocks left until difficulty retarget. Prices are gonna soar!!! ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) i think there are people purposefully trying to hold the price down as long as they can. i've been watching cryptsy all day since launch and there is no reason that the coin is below .001 other than a sabotage attempt. fortunately all low ball coins will be gone soon and if they want to continue that game it will start costing them money to do so ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FN4R7nSD.png&t=663&c=TfyixmI8WIPm7w) Yeah, I've noticed the sell walls on coined up. What's the strategy there, then? Keep the diff low as long as possible?

we already have diamond coin .... i would have gone for saphire at the very least.

There seem to be several alt coins released a day, now. So many coins infact that I've given up keeping track of them. A lot of them appear to be shallow instamine pump-and-dump coins, with very few offering anything unique. Even the names are becoming more banal.
Fish Coin? I mean no offence, but come on..
Is this a trend or a bubble? To me it is most definitely a bubble. A lot of altcoins now seem to solely exist to make the devs rich and the instaminers who trade them off the most well off, leaving the coin pretty much worthless, and with little chance of ever hitting an exhange. I don't mind so much. In any capitalist system there have to be winners and losers, but isn't it just going to get to a point where even the newbies buying up new altcoins will be spread so thin that there'll no longer be any profit in instamine dumping?
And when the bubble does pop, what are we left with? There are some interesting coins out there, and some so blatantly a scam that it's almost depressing to watch the scrambling in the vain hope that *this* coin will be the one that makes a fortune.
I've only been here a few weeks, but it does look very much like a rat race now. I'm wondering if this will continue indefinitely, or if there will come a point that the hashing power will just be spread too thin, which unfortunately I think is more likely to kill off coins with genuine unique aspects and long-term profitability as it becomes a daily rush to mine the next new altcoin to palm off as soon as possible.

Hahaha.
This is fantastic. Islamic Coin because you have a Muslim Coder.
Love it.
I'll watch with interest.

So many coins now. Is this going to be another copy/paste or are you actually going to do something different?
Do something different. Please.
I like the design though.
