Scan and email a copy of the handwritten, stamped deposit receipt and your bitcoin receiving address to buybitcoinsATaunz.ws.

I can't remember the last time I saw a handwritten deposit receipt from an Australian bank, or even a stamped one for that matter.  You're really going to have to emphasise the need for these two elements.
4162  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: NEW Global Exchange Launching Within Days - Entirely Global on: September 27, 2011, 09:13:54 PM
A few quick questions.  How are you planning to handle AML/CTF stuff?  TradeHill's Australian arm has been required by its bank to verify the identity of its customers and World Bitcoin Exchange clearly states on its website its intention to comply with Australia's AML and CTF laws as well as the fact that it is currently operating without an AFSL.  MtGox has also experienced problems operating in Australia with some of its user funds currently being frozen.   I think that if you're going to promote yourself as "ethical", you need to reveal this kind of information to your potential users in advance.

Also, are you using a holding company?  I can't find a company registration number or an ABN for Crypto X Changer Pty Ltd.  In and of itself that's not necessarily a big deal as you could be "trading as" Crypto X Changer, but I wasn't able to find any business name registration records for Crypto X Changer either.

And finally, how do you intend to deal with the issue of GST as your business picks up?  If you're even moderately successful the you're going to hit the GST threshold next financial year if not this one.  That means you'll either have to absorb the cost of GST yourself or pass it onto your customers - this is a factor you need to consider from the outset when you're designing your fee structure, otherwise you risk having to raise your fees by 10% when the GST threshold kicks in or your business becoming unprofitable and unsustainable.
4163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Ethical Exchange" is Coming - Should General Bitcoin Users Trust It? on: September 26, 2011, 11:09:11 PM
I can't find either an ACN or an ABN for Crypto X Changer Pty Ltd.  The business name doesn't even appear to be registered.  Even if you're "trading as" under a holding company, you still need to register the business name unless it's your personal name which it clearly isn't in this case.
4164  Other / Meta / Re: Stolen goods? on: September 26, 2011, 03:02:40 AM
:rolleyes at "nothing illegal"

Technically, it's not. I guess it could be under some hacking laws, but I don't think I've seen any cases about individual virtual personal property being taken to court, just DCMA violations.

However, it is pretty much the definition of "black hat".

There were arrests and prosecutions in relation to the theft of virtual goods in Habbo hotel.

You really dont understand how shares work do you? You cant set the price of the shares as you wish, by saying 0.1btc per share with 1000 shares, your automatically valueing your "company" at 100btc... for what exactly? you dont have anything.

Since Alfalfa pointed out that I can be fairly condescending is my responses, I will go easy on this one.  Really though, your post is silly.

To say I don't understand how shares work, considering what I do for a living outside of Bitcoin, is stupid.  If you would take the time to read the proposal, or had any knowledge of how share sales actually work, you would see how off-base you are.

When a company offers shares to the public for the first time, they absolutely set an acceptable range for pricing.  In terms if valuing the company, you really did not read a bit of the proposal did you?  .1 BTC is what the monthly dividend will be set at, not what we are willing to sell shares for.

Finally, we don't have anyting?  What in God's name are you talking about?  We have a hardware investment of over $7,000 and monthly BTC production in excess of 150 BTC.  How exactly is that having nothing?

Seriously, if you don't take the time to educate yourself on the matter, just don't post.

I think the point that the other poster was trying to make is that you seem to have valued your company at $42,800 (based on the current BTC of 5.35) without offering support for that figure.  Based on your numbers, monthly revenue from mining would be ~ $802 with 10% of that amount being returned to shareholders.  Projected earnings don't justify the $40,000+ valuation and neither does your capital investment to date, so the question  of how you arrived at that figure is not an unreasonable one.

I have no problem with this trolling (which was fun to watch), but wasting my time with "account recovery" after posting shock images gets you permabanned.

That is reasonable, and I retract my bitching about this situation.

Likewise.

I'm banned for trolling

Oh, WTF mods.  All manner of obvious trolling, threadjacking, scamming and other bullshit is tolerated here every day.  I don't agree with the laissez-faire approach, but you're libertarians, so I guess you can't help it.  This is your house, so I tolerate it.

But when one of them shows she has a heart and comes clean, then you bring out the banstick?

As Theymos proposes this for the new forum software

Quote
People who have their user account banned (but not their IP) can use a special ban appeal feature. Each user can appeal once, and then they need to wait for the response.

The appeal queue will be available to admins. It will show the appeal and a link to the user's profile page. It'll have these action links: unban, reply, soft-deny (allow another ban appeal in 14 days), hard-deny (never allow future appeals for this user).

After any action is taken, the appeal is removed from the queue.

The banned user can reply once to each reply that an admin sends.

I don't see why such an appeal can't be allowed now.   Perhaps Theymos could clarify whether the ban on the PinkiePie account is a permaban or for a set period of time.

I'm not sure whether the messageboard software here gives the admins the capacity to access PMs (I know that it can be done in vBulletin with the addition of a simple command) .  It would certainly be interesting to know what PMs were sent from and received by that account, though I realise the admins would have an ethical issue with accessing that information.

That said, a really good troll would have multiple accounts anyway so sending a PM from one account to another wouldn't be a problem.
4169  Economy / Securities / Re: Now seeking investors for BitCorp Mining Company on: September 23, 2011, 11:34:28 PM
I'd just like to say how nice it is to finally see someone who's seeking outside investors providing a coherent business proposal which includes financials  and a stratplan.

c'mon people...   Please stop hijacking this thread with irrelevant crap.

If it's not directly to do with Bruce's announcement - it's off topic.

There's not really anything to do with Bruce's announcement left to talk about.  He fell for a troll by a goon (one which wasn't even specifically aimed at him initially).

When I see this thread updated - I guess I'm hoping to hear news of a sheepish admission/apology from Bruce.. but I guess that's too much to hope for.

If he was going to post an explanation anywhere, I suspect it would be on his Google group where he made the announcement and not here.

Link is dead now.  Anyone know which pools this info is from?

Nofeemining.

The other thread is only three pages long if you want to know more about it.  It's part of their old database.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=45216.msg539852#msg539852

Given that the files themselves were from July and the many good reasons for people to have changed their passwords around that time, it's insane if those passwords are still valid for anyone's email or exchange accounts (and judging by the other thread, at least some of them are still valid for email accounts).

I am not a SA forums member because there are a lot of trolls over there and people say "get out" a lot

Sounds like you've wandered into YOSPOS.  They tell everyone who isn't a geek to get the fuck out or go back to gibbis.
4174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mt.Gox gathering personal information by blocking accounts on: September 23, 2011, 06:54:03 AM
If OP has an ID, he can scan the fucking ID and send it in and get his BTC back, or quit complaining.
Yeah, It's like "We always right, you don't have any rights! Just shut up and do what we say or else...". And I think this is not acceptable way to do the business, they just unprofessional with zero experience. If they want to stay on top, they must learn how to do it properly like this.

You realise that only a few weeks ago people were complaining about TradeHill requesting ID verification in order to comply with AML requirements and bitching that TradeHill hadn't disclosed that this might happen when they opened their accounts.

The exchanges want to stay in business and not get shut down either because they're non-compliant with various laws or because of fraud relateed to their user accounts.  Look at the song and dance which happens here when people's accounts are compromised and the exchanges don't refund the lost money.

The exchanges have never promised anonymity.  If you want some degree of that, then peer to peer transactions can provide it to some degree but even the devs themselves have pointed out in the past that Bitcoin is not totally anonymous.

Given the number of threads I've read from young Americans who are in significant debt from going to university to get essentially useless degrees, I think it's wise for young people contemplating tertiary education to think about what they want from further education and to realise that an undergraduate degree isn't an automatic passport to the middle class.

Unless you're willing to owe large amounts of money for "the college experience", sometimes it makes a lot more sense to pursue something which is more directly vocational straight out of school.

Unfortunately, a bachelor's degree today is becoming what a high school diploma was 20-30 years ago: It's basically the requirement to enter any non-shit job or skilled labor position

I understand that's the case but I don't totally understand why the US seems to require people to do undergraduate degrees before they can even undertake the studies which will qualify them for their actual profession when in so many other countries you can enter those programmes straight out of high school.  I know that our degrees are structured somewhat differently, but I can't help wondering if US universities have a financial stake in keeping things that way.

I took a cold shower this morning. I did push ups until my muscles involuntarily tensed to where they could no longer contract. I felt tremendous pain and effort. I mourned over previous losses this morning. All the usual depression I felt was very there but I took it with a smile. I am fine but I am going to take the high ground on this one. I have nothing to prove.

I don't think people are trying to prove you wrong.  I think that they're genuinely concerned.  While insomnia is a known side effect of Cymbalta, it can also be one of the major forerunners of a depressive episode.  It's not a big deal if you have the occasional night where you can't sleep and your thoughts and emotions are all over the place, but you need to be cautious if it starts occurring with any regularity.  One of the best ways to prevent major mental health episodes is learning to recognise when you're trending in a particular direction and take action while it's still manageable.  Good sleep hygiene is really important to good mental health, so try not to be dismissive of people's concern.

Meditation and moderate exercise are also great for emotional well-being but moderate is the keyword here.  Pushing yourself to the physical limit occasionally if you're having a shitty day and just want to physically exhaust yourself is one thing is fine - making a habit of it, not so much.

Yes, I'm reserving my judgement on this and will just wait and see.

I'm not. I saw a my little pony avatar and called troll the first time I saw 'her'. Jesus christ...READ what you are linking. "The vomit was an interesting hue"...

Any guesses on which particular goon she'll turn out to be?  Disruptor recently ponied a lot of YOSPOS posters, so he's in the running.

I'm curious whether you chose Dr Branden because you believe he's the most qualified to treat you or because he was once Ayn Rand's lover.
He realized the flaws in her philosophy and I had come to similar insights... I thought I would give him a call in the name of those similarities.

Fair enough.  While I don't think that common philosophical ground automatically makes someone the best qualified person to advise or treat you, I totally understand that it can make them seem more approachable and make you feel like they're more likely to understand you - which in turn can make you more likely to seek help when you need it rather than trying to tough it out.

I have absolutely awesome mental health professionals now, but I've had some shocking ones in the past and I know that a few bad experiences in that regard can strongly influence your attitude towards the profession as a whole and the likelihood of you taking their advice.
4180  Other / Off-topic / Re: I WILL PAY FOR PINKIEPIE'S STUFF on: September 23, 2011, 03:52:03 AM
The name Ayn has me puzzled. To much like Ayn Rand.

I have another theory. Maybe she is just pretending to be her father.

I'm kind of surprised that this isn't everyone's first assumption.
