4181  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best mining case on: July 27, 2011, 11:21:25 PM
Just browsed over this case, could be the best suitable case for a mining rig: Very good ventilation, super cool looking! If there is a built-in water cooling system then this is overkill
so this is pretty much the same thing as no case, but it costs 10x more. good job there
I know those guys with 20+ machines each equipped with 3x6990s can not afford this luxury, but when you have already minned enough coins, you want to do some decoration  Cool
it's still a waste of money, you might as well re-invest the money back into mining hardware.
4182  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Add2PSU: More power for your mining rigs on: July 27, 2011, 11:18:16 PM
you can just connect the green+one black wire from the atx connector to all the other supplies, and it will also work

lol, problem, asci miner?
4185  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI-e 1x Extender not work in 16x connector on: July 22, 2011, 10:39:42 PM
Can the problem be the 16x side? It is not really 16x...

...will say morein a wek. I have a bag (101 pieces) full of 1x->16x on the way - REAL ones, i.e. the 16x side is a physical 16x slot, no a sawed off 1x.
theres no difference. the two are electrically identical
4186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 22, 2011, 10:30:35 PM
Ok when solo mining, Is it better to run separate namecoind instances or should I push all miners to one local namecoind instance and let them mine through that ?

Especially taking into consideration the whole merkle root thing i heard something about? would each machine running a separate mining instance have a different merkle root ? and is there anyway to be notified when you find a block mining solo ?
it's pretty much the same.

Good point. I would support not allowing people to post new topics until they have 100 posts or so.
then topic hijacking will be rampant, or people spamming "GREAT POST!!!" to get post count up

anyone realize this guy is making a killing? with 6 referrals, he can get a £100 Amazon Voucher, and the cost to him is a mere 0.6 bitcoins (barely $10 US)

ok dumbass when you signup for freebiejeebies you dont give them your credit card info WHEN YOU DO THE INTUIT OFFER YOU GIVE INTUIT YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO
great way to attract customers
4190  Economy / Services / Re: [100 Ghps] "Catch 22 removal" service for new pool operators on: July 20, 2011, 08:41:00 PM
I'm not trying to insult Vladimir, but his service make little sense. He is demanding special treatment (no fee PPS + 10% extra + paid for stales) just because he has a lot of hash rate. If a pool offered that to regular miners, everyone will be joining the pool in a heartbeat (who doesn't want 110% PPS?). one person pointed out this is more "stealthy" than just paying people to join, but do people really care that the pool owner paid a big miner to join his pool? people just care about low fees and low variance.

anything below 80 is ok

4193  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: using x1 to x16, card does not show in device manager on: July 20, 2011, 05:52:32 PM
are your pci-e presence pins shorted correctly? the hole to stick the wire in is so small and the wire is so flimsy that sometimes it doesn't actually make contact with one of the pins. i also had a problem similar to this one, and all i did was reseat the wires and it worked fine afterwards.
did that as well. and asus 5850 works fine without shorting the pins.
4194  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Pool mining questions on: July 20, 2011, 05:51:16 PM
i kno i switched pools and it says my hash is 320
almost .01 bitcoins in less than an hour
>When you are lucky and get above normal number of proofs of work, the pool thinks you are hashing really fast. And the opposite when you are unlucky and finding few proofs of work.

its probability, get over it.

does this pool still charge a "fee"?

If a block is found in the first 599 shares, the extra is paid to me. On average, 36% of the subsidy of a block will go to me as a result of this. This is a trade-off between minimizing the payment to some central entity and having lower variance in payouts. If the proportion going to me were reduced by half, variance would double. I believe that this is an acceptable compromise.
4196  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: need help with a mining rig on: July 19, 2011, 03:25:20 PM
Get two for that machine, a 1kw psu and some risers from cablesarus if you want to get the biggest bang out of that budget.

cheers, do I Trifire the cards or leave them individual? my mobo has a 16x an 8x and a 1x

how will this go gaming wise? incase bitcoin fails... my only thoughts with the second machine was so I could still game on this one
dont crossfire them (may reduce performance), just use dummy plugs.

4199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: what minimum PSU would you recommend to run 2x6990's? on: July 19, 2011, 02:26:46 AM
Damn! 400W when not even being pushed? ok ok .. will have to get the 1200W one then! Unfortunately the case I am building this in wont have space for 2 PSUs, so looks like it will be a single 1200W PSU! Thanks for the help!
go caseless (also has better cooling)

you can probably rent them out for more money
