Stay away from cloud mining, the legit sites you will never make ROI with them, besides them there are some so called cloud mining websites which offers you easy solution for mining and ROI from 2.5 months to 6 months. These are plain lies and you will lose your BTC with them. Paper wallet is secure enough but needs some jobs to be done by you, if you are comfortable with the very nice explanation here then it is ok, but if you want you can buy a Ledger Nano for just 20 USD 0.045 BTC price and store them securely there. Thats definitely a good combination, Multibit HD with Debian Linux system. I myself have Debian with Electrum, but also have Multibit HD installed (only use Electrum) so I have seen it has quite some options and is very newbie friendly regarding security. I think you are safe considering its only you who use this PC.

You are still in time if you don't have a lot of Btc in your blockchain wallet, but even if you have, just import your private key into Multibit HD or Electrum desktop wallets, make sure your PC is clean of malware before installing them there, and keep the SEED of the electrum in a safe place, also in Multibit HD, keep its passphrase (seed) in a safe place. This gives you much more security than web wallets, and when you have some good amount of coins, more than 10 ,you should definitely buy a hardware wallet.

I think adding a wallet and exchange service may prolong their life, but be careful if someone is tempted to use their wallet as a web wallet, I am pretty sure, there will be quite some hacking things going on there, so better stay safe with desktop or hardware wallets. And don't invest nothing there before they show mining data and pool data, if they can't show them, then they are not mining.

Definitely they got his email because of other cloud mining scam where he must be registered. There's a high chance they are operated by the same person.
