4181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Damages dumping creates on: March 13, 2019, 10:38:41 PM
You can't stop dumps because they are a product of a very small market. When you have 10 people holding 10% each and one of them sells it all there will be a big red candle. When others see that red candle they think something is going on with the coin and sell.
There are instances where this won't happen like when the token is distributed among thousands of people and none of them holds more than 0.1%.
4182  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-3-6]Starbucks Works with Bakkt to Enable Bitcoin Payments on: March 13, 2019, 10:29:28 PM
I wonder if it will transact on the lightning network otherwise it would be too slow to use, especially in the busy areas where the queues for a coffee are ridiculous

This will work in partnership with Bakkt who will be the crypto holder. SB will not hold any crypto it will go directly through Bakkt. It's a similar system to payment processors that allow you to pay instantly and then prompt your bank to cover the transfer. They are vouching for the transaction for you and will cover the fiat transaction with SB at a later date so you don't have to wait at all. It's also going to be available only for US citizens at first.

The details are really vague. It may not even work like a direct payment processor like Bitpay.

It sounds like you might have to sell on Bakkt, then use the proceeds to buy stored value (like a gift card) that can be used at Starbucks.

That solves the issue of waiting for confirmations but it also means zero innovation beyond what's already happening now. People already buy gift cards with bitcoins all the time.

Are you sure about that? The way I understood the system after reading a couple pieces about it is that you don't sell on bakkt. You hold funds at bakkt and whenever you buy something at Starbucks your bakkt account gets charged. Bakkt won't pay Starbucks right away. They will rather vouch for your transaction and make sure their bills are covered weekly or monthly.
4183  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin be worthless? on: March 12, 2019, 08:03:44 PM
Currency failure generally occurs due to the type of hyperinflation, and there is always the potential for technical failure, currency competition, political issues and so on. As the main basic rule, there is no currency that can be considered very safe from failure and difficult times. so is it possible that bitcoin can become worthless?

If we have worldwide calamities that can disable internet connections or even shut down all gadgets and electronic devices then thats the time bitcoin and other cryptocurrency will be worthless. Other than that, i cant think of any reasons.

So there's no way this could happen. Such a calamity would make millions of people die and you'd be one of the lucky ones to be alive and still have a roof over your head. People wouldn't be worried about not having Internet or access to their bank account. They would be trying to stay alive and keep their families alive.

4185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: massive feb visitor collapse in Bitcointalk and Coinmarketcap founding websites on: March 12, 2019, 07:35:12 PM
Where do you want to go with this post? how many people have many bitcoins and are not in bitcointalk and do not even spend all days in coinmarketcap? I see a lot of people.

Let's be honest, traffic on all bitcoin-related sites including Reddit subs has gone down and this is nothing new, it did so in 2014 and then skyrocket in 2017.

I take that as a very positive indicator. The less speculators and the better. Less whining, less doom topics, less stupid questions about another pump and another moon.
At the early stages of a bear market there's always hundreds of topics saying it's not over we are going up in a matter of weeks, 500x profits next month. In the later stage it turns into an it's all over period: Fuck Bitcoin, I'm out of here, but they linger on. Now we are past that in the time where they really give up and leave.

Maybe the bottom is really in.
4186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin number of transactions all time high?? BEAR MARKET IS GONE! on: March 11, 2019, 09:24:02 PM
Transactions is not an accountant for adoption, I believe neither the number of addresses. To know if there is an adoption, I would count the number of stores that accept crypts as payment. That would say, basically, that people are interested in both customers and stores.

Of course it isn't because you can spam the network much like Bitmain did in 2017. Much of it can be fake like some people's instagram followers Wink

I feel like the bear market is over and we are in the sideways trading zone again like we were in Summer of last year. If we are to fall lower we'll need a rally first. I don't feel like we're going to drop below 3000 from here. A double bottom or a rally followed by a bottom is what my gut tells me.
4187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone in the world owned bitcoin each would have 0.003btc on: March 11, 2019, 09:15:02 PM
The situation is not just improbable but impossible. You're probably counting every human being on the planet and it includes children and old people. If you count only people over 10 years old the number will change drastically. Then you'll have to exclude people with no Internet access. They will never buy a cryptocurrency if they aren't even using electronic banking. If we can get 1% of the world to use bitcoin it will be an enormous success.
4188  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-10]Android Devices Now Support Full Bitcoin Node Running on: March 11, 2019, 09:09:59 PM
How much does it take to compile the database on a phone? It takes weeks if you don't have a great computer and connection. To run it on a typical phone one will need a lot of patience and a lot of free space on the memory card. It's nice that they made it possible but for now there won't be many people running a node on a phone. It's too inefficient.
4189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current situation, how investors/traders are enriching these three. on: March 10, 2019, 10:08:45 PM
It won't change. First it was fake mining companies that were making money then fake cloud mining followed by ICOs. Now there's gonna be another era of STOs and in the sidelines there are always fake exchanges and thieves waiting to get your personal data. There are also fake casinos and other smaller fish.
As long as there's greed they will profit and you have to learn or get burned. There's no other way.
4190  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Chinese man jailed for 3.5 years after stealing electricity to mine bitcoin on: March 10, 2019, 09:50:24 PM
Using electricity and it will be billed to others is a crime. A big crime. I am more concerned about the people he stole the line. I wonder how did they react when the bill comes at their door and had big bills.

They won't have to pay the bill. When someone steals your car and hits a pedestrian you are not responsible. People who he was stealing from aren't either and no court will sentence them. He probably wasn't stealing from another person but straight from the street connection. It's much more difficult to tap into someone's house.
4191  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you compare before joining any Crypto broker? on: March 10, 2019, 09:35:26 PM
Most of us normal people don't use brokers. You won't find a lot of answers to your question on a forum like this one.

I expect that people with a lot of money are smart enough to do the research before they start trading or hire someone to do it for them. I would do it for sure but for the time being i'm not even using exchanges because the price doesn't satisfy me to sell and I am already holding enough.
4192  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cardano (ADA) Remains Bullish And Overtakes Bitcoin SV on: March 10, 2019, 09:31:46 PM
Maybe this is happening because cardano has a real development team and is lead by a charismatic and active frontman unlike SV. SV is depending on its Bitcoin name just like BCH did when it was pronounced the "real" bitcoin. They were hoping that forks will take over but I don't see it happening. They simply aren't good enough. Making a cheap knockoff and telling people it's better than the original won't work here.
4193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People who gamble are degenerates, change my mind. on: March 10, 2019, 09:11:20 PM
Isn't calling them degenerates a bit harsh?

If their need to make money at all cost is a form of degeneration then I guess traders are also degenerates. What about used car salesmen? Cheesy
I can't change your mind just as I can't change a mind of someone who calls hookers whores. It's his way of releasing negative emotions towards them rather than opinion.
4194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Came Back After a Year on: March 10, 2019, 08:52:48 PM
During this year, a lot has happened, because it became impossible to find a bitcoin campaign. The number of altcoin campaigns tens of the day, but their quality suffers greatly and you come shitcoins, from which it is impossible to get rid of. Due to the arrival of bears on the market, many projects do not even collect soft cap.

You're wrong. There are many bitcoin campaigns available just not in the altcoin section. Check out the service section for that. My wild guess is that at least 3 new campaigns were opened in February and some of the old ones were also recruiting.
You probably wanted to say that it's impossible to find a bitcoin campaign when you're a shitposter. That would be correct.
4195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looked back - lost! on: March 10, 2019, 07:50:27 PM
You are already in cryptocurrency and you should not regret it.
YES, the course is unstable. Sometimes there are mistakes, but do not look back. You will not change anything. It is better to assume that you made the right decision, even if you got a loss.
We need to move only forward, what do you think?
I love the fact that you are trying to encourage someone but telling us to assume that we make the right choice even when we lose is not a good one,how do you learn from your mistake when you fail to see that you have make a wrong choice. We need to accept our mistake and learn from it.

This is a much better way. Don't ignore your loss and don't tell yourself that you shouldn't regret it when you should. If you lost money because you bought high and sold low it's your failure and your mistake. You should think about it and acknowledge it. Ask yourself what you did wrong and make sure not to do it again when the next bull market comes and it will come!
4196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3.75% of Americans ready to invest in ICO? on: March 10, 2019, 07:42:10 PM
These surveys are usually wrong. If even 1% of them invested the market would jump up by a few billion. 3% would probably take us above the last year's ATH.
Don't take it serious. I'd like it to be true and I wish the market all best but there's a big difference between wanting to invest and really putting money where your mouth is.
4197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This forum has so many gambling addicts on: March 10, 2019, 07:25:02 PM
The forum isn't embracing addiction but it's discussing it. It's good if people are able to share their experiences. OP is comparing gambling to drugs and i'm fine with discussing both of them. What is bad in a forum about drugs? There are many in the Internet.
Is it better to stay quiet because it's a sensitive topic? I think not.
4198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: True or false? on: March 09, 2019, 10:32:15 PM
False.

People were saying the same thing in 2014. They all thought since the biggest exchange MtGox went bankrupt Bitcoin will die and there will never be another bull market like that one. They were sure of it again in 2015 when China banned Bitcoin and things were looking bad.

I say we will have another market cycle and we will have another bubble and another crash.

4199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that Beginners need Technical analysis? on: March 09, 2019, 10:23:56 PM
You need to understand TA so that you don't follow it like a blind idiot but learn to have your own opinion. When a newbie sees a chart and somebody screams buy he buys. An experienced trader reads other people's predictions and compares with his own to find the most probable outcome. What is important is knowledge and logic. One without the other won't help you much and if you have none of them you'll get fucked.
4200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Change Of KYC Pattern on: March 09, 2019, 10:00:38 PM
many users don't want to pass KYC neither before bounty nor at the end. so it would be better to remove KYC for all bounty hunters.

However KYC is a good way to prevent people from cheating (e.g. signing up with multiple accounts).
As long as it's mentioned in the rules from the beginning and not just being added during the campaign I can't see any problems about KYC.

If you sign up with multiple accounts you still have to do the job and it's 2 or 3 times the job when you have 2 or 3 accounts. This shouldn't concern the manager when somebody is working twice as much and getting paid for it.
Spammers will get spotted and banned at some point and the reward money is not very high for them to keep buying accounts for the purpose of cheating.
I see no reason for KYC bounties.
