Subtract the vitriol and anti-America sentiment, and yes this is true.  If country A, which is not sanctioned by the US does business with country B, which is subject to US sanctions, then country A risks being sanctioned by the US as well.

Reminder: sanctions wouldn't work if there was no incentive to do business with the US.

As a country, the best you can do is denounce Maduro and side with Guaidó. The sooner Maduro is out, the better for everyone.

The sanctions are against Maduro and his small group of accomplices, not against Venezuela. If you want to deal legitimate business, contact Juan Guaidó President Interim and/or Venezuela's National Assembly, which is the last remaining legitimate elected institution. More than 60+ (and growing) countries have officially acknowledged Guaidó as the legitimate President, and only less than 20 keep backing Maduro.

Officially acknowledge Guaidó as legitimate President Interim of Venezuela:
🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇨🇴 🇧🇷 🇦🇷 🇵🇾 🇵🇪 🇨🇱 🇬🇹 🇭🇳 🇵🇦 🇨🇷 🇪🇨 🇬🇪 🇽🇰 🇦🇱 🇬🇧 🇧🇸 🇩🇴 🇭🇹 🇮🇱 🇦🇺 🇵🇷 🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇪🇸 🇱🇹 🇦🇹 🇵🇱 🇩🇰 🇵🇹 🇱🇻 🇸🇪 🇳🇱 🇧🇪 🇭🇺 🇨🇿 🇪🇪 🇱🇺 🇫🇮 🇭🇷 🇲🇰 🇮🇸 🇧🇬 🇲🇹 🇮🇪 🇦🇩 🇺🇦 🇨🇭 🇯🇵 🇹🇼 🇲🇦
Keep (officially) backing Maduro:

What Venezuela is experiencing is what i fear my county Nigeria might experience in few years coming. the similarities between the two county is too much both has oil as their major export, ruled by ditactors who calls them self democratic presidents, also the economy and currencies of both country is dying. I feel the pains of Venezuelans and can only hope they recover. Hoping my country kearns one or two lesson from Venezuela situation.

If your ruler starts thinking he (and his people) can control the economy instead of letting the free market do it... then you will come to this disaster. Not unlike Zimbabwe with Mugabe...

Venezuela's current crisis is 80% Maduro's fault.
4183  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Quiet Antminer S15? on: February 12, 2019, 01:37:02 AM
Yup, hardware cooling is where I have some experience. As I stated earlier, rated CFM for fans is in open air with absolutely no restrictions. Once you add restrictions, you get a completely different actual CFM. Elbows in ducts, too narrow a duct, grills, filters...all contribute to slowing down the air flow. I think removing the grills on the exhaust side will not only help airflow, it will reduce noise a little bit as well.

I'm very interested to see the results of your proposed modification, a quiet S15 could be very useful...
I agree that the grill is in the way, and its probably another source of noise.

If Braiins OS gets ported to it, a low power configuration would be very interesting to see, max efficiency usually also leads to quietness, when paired with underclocking.
4184  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need help installing an antminer s9i on: February 12, 2019, 01:12:39 AM
Hi

I’m trying to install an antminer s9i and I have got as far as downloading the IP reporter and getting the IP address for the miner. However when I enter the IP address in Chrome and login with username and password “root” the antminer settings page does not display any of the miner’s overview details.
When I click on the miner configuration tab it keeps giving me the same message “ this site can’t be reached”. It seems the miner is not communicating with the router as I have run network and internet diagnostics.

Is this a common problem with antminers??
Any idea what might have gone wrong??

Many thanks
Yazdan

It seems you already found your IP, so I'm not exactly sure how could both HagssFIN and fanatic26_ missed that...

Now your problem is not normal. You have already logged in successfully, but the tabs are not showing enough information. Perhaps you should try a different browser, such as Firefox to discard a browser issue. But, this feels like you may have network issues. One thing you could try is ping your miner, since you already have its IP, and see if the pings are returning properly.

Do you have more units on the same network?

Something you could try is forcing an IP manually instead of relying on a dhcp server to assign IPs. One easy way to achieve this is bypass your router and connect a pc directly to configure it. And make sure your router is not assigning the same IPs you are manually setting.
4185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Virtual money is really the future of the world in the 4.0 era on: February 11, 2019, 01:59:00 PM
We are now in the world where we use half virtual half physical money in every transactions. As far as i observe, we use almost 60% virtual and 40% fiat which in the future, we can see that it will be evolving into pure virtual currency. Bitcoin and other crypto are growing and people are upgading things that will fit into it.

You say half physical half virtual as if the current fiat actually existed, but most of it doesn't, thanks to the magic of fractional reserve banking.

Most people are unaware of this because they collectively put their trust into banks. But the banks are not keeping the money and loan (at least) 10 times more of what they actually have... Like any scheme, it works until enough people know the truth and decide to withdraw...
4186  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: February 11, 2019, 03:37:25 AM
Try download this package https://feeds.braiins-os.org/am1-s9/firmware_2018-11-27-0-c34516b0_arm_cortex-a9_neon.ipk and install it from the web ui or via ssh:

Code:
wget https://feeds.braiins-os.org/am1-s9/firmware_2018-11-27-0-c34516b0_arm_cortex-a9_neon.ipk && opkg --force-downgrade install firmware_2018-11-27-0-c34516b0_arm_cortex-a9_neon.ipk

The latest firmware is supposed to be able to control the fans, did you check they were set correctly? Also see if you have set chip voltage and frequency settings in that particular miner and try if letting it auto adjust works better.
4187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela: Crypto's law is enacted on: February 09, 2019, 09:45:05 PM
Inflation of the height 10000000% should affect any worth of money or asset. Money is worthless. Money has lost its worth cause u cant but what u want even with your money in venezuela

The local fiat is worthless, but there are many people surviving with (foreign) money sent by relatives from abroad. Because of the foreign currency exchange "controls", a good chunk comes via crypto coins.

They don't want this to occur freely, but they don't have the technical means to stop it. They can, however affect many more innocent people struggling to survive socialism holding til the day it falls. Being starved of their illicit money abroad, they now want to steal even more from the people directly.
4188  Other / Politics & Society / Re: India, the next worlds breeding ground for national socialism and instability? on: February 09, 2019, 09:06:28 PM
I live in India and personally believe that India wouldn't face such situation but the points you gave are being followed in India no doubt. But India is growing slowly and steadily. If you compare the corruption chart of previous years from this year you would a great improvement in them. Here are the latest things you should know about India -
1) Government is creating job opportunities for the youngsters
2) India is exporting but importing too
3) Educated engineer are being posted in most of the areas
4) Some points are true of yours but India is working on it

How are they reducing corruption? Venezuela is going to need this very soon...
4189  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela: Crypto's law is enacted on: February 09, 2019, 08:35:55 PM
This just in:

"Government" of Venezuela dictates controls for sending crypto coin into Venezuela.

0.25€ minimum per transaction, up to 15% of the amount.

Sunacrip can establish maximum limits, and they just established 10 Petro as that limit (The Petro has a fixed price equivalent to around 60$).

Only a Socialist government could ever think of putting obstacles to foreign money flowing IN the economy...

Feasibility of actually enforcing this? Lets just say, we have decades of similar stupidity. In Venezuela most video games and toy guns are "illegal", along with currency exchange or free market prices of many many things.

But, this garbage "rule" gives the goons even more excuse to seize equipment and imprison people they don't like. Socialism as usual...
4190  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Capitalism vs. Socialism - Make your argument here. on: February 09, 2019, 08:11:25 PM
Everyone should read this book (free download), and debunk socialism to what it really is: Coercion.

Quote from: https://mises.org/
Socialism: An Economic and Sociological Analysis

Ludwig von Mises’s Socialism is the most important critical examination of socialism ever written.

Socialism is most famous for Mises’s penetrating economic calculation argument. The book contains much more however. Mises not only shows the impossibility of socialism: he defends capitalism against the main arguments socialists and other critics have raised against it. A centrally planned system cannot substitute some other form of economic calculation for market prices, because no such alternative exists. Capitalism is true economic democracy.

Socialism addresses the contemporary issues of economic inequality and argues that wealth can exist for long periods only to the extent that wealthy producers succeed in satisfying the consumers. Mises shows that there is no tendency to monopoly in a free market system.

Mises analyzes reform measures, such as social security and labor legislation, which in fact serve to impede the efforts of the capitalist system to serve the masses.

Socialism is a veritable encyclopedia of vital topics in the social sciences, all analyzed with Mises’s unique combination of historical erudition and penetrating insight.

The main key point of socialist economies, is to force people do things they naturally don't want to.
Freedom leads to free market economies, and better quality of life to everyone, especially the poor.

Once you read this book, you will never fall for socialist lies ever again.

Mexico, and I meant as low as 204.

Thanks for the links.

Its a regulador de voltaje, that's what we call them here...

Something like this:

Regulador Sola Basic Xellence 3000,3kva,bifasico,220v,2 Años
$ 6,990

I think they call them voltage stabilizer in Europe.

Yes, input can be a varying range (169V ~ 271V), and the output is a fixed (220v). They usually do come with peak protection and timer delay if power goes out of range. The smaller 120v cousins are very common for PC use here (and in many parts they are a must have if you don't want to be replacing PSUs every 3 months).

New Slush Pool is here, featuring modern responsive design and functional improvements.
Try it and help us out polishing the product during beta phase!

Once you are fairly familiar with the new website, we would like to ask you to provide some brief feedback (about 5 minutes of your time).

Interesting. Please consider adding a dark theme mode, I see so much bright white background which might be fine during the day, but not so much at night...

It would be nice if the "big guys" understood this and stayed put, instead of foolishly losing money "grasshopping" pools or "gambling" luck...

When a pool gets too low in hashrate then that is the worst gambling since the % difference per block is large.  (4/5 vs 5/5 is 20%.  99/100 vs 100/100 is 1%)

Last year the same thing started to happen here and Kano went out and paid big pool operators to avoid being in quicksand.  Seems it's back to that again.  Unless you are able to extend your timelines to years instead of weeks to even things out.  If you go too far then the reward halving will draw the line and then future luck ain't the same reward so you can only correct till that moment.

When did this happened last year? Kano paying pool operators?

4194  Economy / Speculation / Re: new bullish run on: February 09, 2019, 03:28:27 PM
There is nothing most beautiful than seeing the market pass to green when in the morning, yeah that's what I felt. However, to convince that this ascend is the beginning of a bull run then with heavy words must be spoken, this is not included in the category of bull run signs. Just a manipulation from some whales who will soon sell their coins and make prices decline again.

Someone must be familiar when he sees a sudden increase in prices, then you have to find out about the factors that cause the increase, at least looking for information related to cryptocurrency, then after that you can judge it. Remember, the cryptocurrency price movements are very fast, so as if you misjudge, you must be prepared to face losses.

Its looking flat to me at this point. Of course it will bounce from time to time, that's the point of remaining flat...
Remaining above 3k despite the predictions of "2.5k before Chinese new year" they made at the end of 2018, I think this is good...

Trading is an art, and at any time things might go the "wrong direction". Do not invest what you can't afford to lose (or keep frozen). Diversify and exert discipline in the face of opposite results (ie. hold if you buy and the price goes down), you only lose if you sell below what you bought...

Bought at 5k/10k/15k? You have not lost anything, if you keep the coins and wait until it recovers, however long it takes.
4195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: pff priority transfers have zero confirmations after 5 hours on: February 09, 2019, 02:39:24 PM
I still use 1 sat/B just fine. If you are truly desperate and your wallet has replace by fee, you can always increase the fee later (after the broadcast).

Just look at https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,2h and use a fee above or near the highest one you see in there:

Here you can see anything above dark blue (right now) would proceed quickly, probably by the next block (10mins). So above 5 sat/B would be a true priority.

I don't trust what wallets UI present to end users "in the name of simplicity". And unfortunately the situation may change in the very next block. But as you see in the graph, even the lowest fees are processing within the hour. I guess you just bad luck, such as Jan 3 where people were withdrawing from exchanges and causing a little spike in the network. But you usually can tell the situation by looking at that graph.
4196  Economy / Speculation / Re: new bullish run on: February 09, 2019, 02:21:37 PM
yes I saw that from today, if it continues it might be the end of bearish, starting this year for the next track to halving, but don't have to feel happy just to say all it takes time for a decent bitcoin value

Chinese new year is over, and i suppose price should start climbing until the halving next year. At what pace or speed, I don't know... This could be a little pump that goes back down again, but in the long run we shouldn't be expecting to go much lower either. In fact it stayed nicely above 3k, that was good.
4197  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela on: February 09, 2019, 05:29:07 AM
And again, the sanctions are a lie. There are no sanctions against Venezuela, only against specific individuals from Maduro's regime. They have personal assets frozen abroad, those assets are of course ill gotten from Venezuela by theft, corruption and who knows what else...

You didn't hear about this?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/08/world/americas/venezuela-sanctions-maduro.html

The sanctions are against Venezuela's state run oil company, which produces 90% of the country's revenue.

2019, not 2004... As i explained the cash flow went to PDVSA, which in turn goes to Maduro. This has stopped, and CITGO's earnings are now being given to Guaidó directly, instead of PDVSA. Once PDVSA is taken away from Maduro as well, the money will flow back in.

The people are not suffering a thing from it, only Maduro and his people do. He had made PDVSA and the gov. bankrupt anyway, and has been fulfilling debt with pure non existent money, which is the main cause of inflation, like i said, they literally just add zeroes to their accounts and pay wages with that. They don't even bother printing more banknotes... We were forced (like everything socialism does) into a cashless society.

The gov was already bankrupt by 2015 which is when Maduro started his heavy "induced" inflation by making money out of thin air, simply because the State is bloated and corrupt, and doing the sensible thing (reduce expenditure) would make them lose face with their socialist friends abroad...

Maduro was waiting for the US to cut the cash flow for some years now, so its not like they weren't ready. Its not just Russia, but China is happily buying what little production still goes on (down to 1/3rd of what used to be two decades ago).

The entire world is closing in freezing accounts and assets of anything related to Maduro and his close people, NOT Venezuela. Already 60+ countries have given support to Guaidó, not even 20 sided with Maduro. Those who don't recognize Maduro have to act accordingly and that is what is going on.

The push will come to an end soon. Guaidó has popular support even with former chavistas and still growing, while Maduro is finished.
4198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 09, 2019, 05:00:50 AM
It looks like neoconservatists are nutjobs that are a danger to everyone. I can only advise independent readers to say no to the US corrupted warmachine, with or without Maduro.

Lets see, "neoconservatists" would be those who want keep the current status quo, ie. Maduro in power... But now is opening a chance to end it after years of stagnation, grief and dead.

So better keep things alone and do nothing, because that is somehow better than taking a chance the people have been waiting for decades?

I don't think so...
4199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela on: February 09, 2019, 04:48:05 AM
With all of the tax dollars I pay to generate this fake news they cannot get script writers who can figure out the difference between 'FAN' and 'FANB'!?!  I think I'm being cheated!

Edit:  I might add that it's pretty sad, and telling, that these frauds cannot even get two Venezuelan military troops to defect and hand over a couple of modern uniforms.  Oh well.

That's just the older camo uniform before Chavez changed it to simple olive green and added the B at the end. Same reason the opposition likes to use the older flag with 7 stars instead of 8. It means nothing, you can still hire actors wearing the proper uniforms. It doesn't mean there is not discontent within the military, but getting on any media attention is suicidal and they would rather keep appearances until the very last moment...

Maduro has imprisoned hundreds of military personnel remotely "suspected" of not being loyal, on a basis not unlike that of the Spanish inquisition...
4200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Venezuela: Crypto's law is enacted on: February 09, 2019, 04:31:56 AM
Let's design an ideal 'crypto-currency' for a nation under sanction from the existing monetary titans/private owners (currently the so-called 'petro-dollar' world reserve currency.)

Let me counter your proposal: Legalize bitcoin. Allow both the crypto and the fiat to coexist, people get to freely choose in which to pay and be paid with. Same thing some countries have with the USD running in parallel to their local fiat.

I don't particularly like when politicians attempt to make their own coin, because they mess with it in ways they don't fully understand, and degrade it back to an even worse version of the fiat it was intending to replace. If we just legalize bitcoin, that remains completely out of their control, perfect.

I would like to remind you that Venezuela is not "under sanction", specific individuals of Maduro's regime are. But in case a country did wanted to put another under sanction, most cryptos would be suitable to evade that.

The big irony is that in Venezuela, the only sanctioned are the people by its own regime that imposed severe controls to foreign currency exchange...

PS: "Trusted authority" is anathema to decentralization and transparency...
And Maduro is the one rejecting the humanitarian aid that is piling in the borders, we shall see if the people can break this self imposed blockade soon...
