422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All airdrops are ponzi schemes? on: October 01, 2017, 06:26:28 PM
A ponzi scheme is where new investor funds are used to pay older investments. Eventually such a scheme will fail. Airdrops do not require investment and therefore cannot be considered ponzi.

Well participating in airdrop might push the coins acceptance, and price on some way, no?  So you actually do not invest in participating with money but you do distribute the coin, project on some way, no? So if a project or coin is possible scam, so you might be a part of that scam, no? Airdrop seems to me not transparent... duno, just a feeling as said. As more I learn as more I might change my feeling about airdrops, tho
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All airdrops are ponzi schemes? on: October 01, 2017, 06:07:30 PM
I don't know why airdrops should be considered ponzy schemes or scams. Maybe I'm getting it wrong, but aren't they just free money? I consider BCH as an airdrop, and I enjoyed it. I also participate in byteball aridrops, and I like them as well. There is no risk for me, I can just sell the coins if I don't believe in the project, so I don't know how I can be scammed with these. Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here, I don't know.

Yes well, is there are big picture behind it?

That is the reason why I opened that thread. Because as said Im not feeling comfortable to join airdops, but I lack on knowledge about airdrops and possible risk it might contain. Like joining possible scam and being part of distributing possible scam... I duno...as said  Im not comfortable with it. Would like to know more about it. Some deeper insights....

Im not saying all airdrops are scam as I dont know it... but want to know more about it..
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why do alt's use Slack ? on: October 01, 2017, 06:02:40 PM
We are using Slack for our project because its a handy tool to organize and stay in touch with followers of the project or people involved. It became some kind of standard. There are security issues I agree but yet as you all know, thatīs the internet.. there is no secure platform!

Telegram is an alternative, but I personally do not know about there security efforts. By Slack at least I know what kind of vulnerabilities are present.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to start an successful ico on: October 01, 2017, 05:55:50 PM
Since we are talking about a multi million dollar project, investors needs to know who are the players or people working in the project, from top to bottom. If its possible to share their active social media accounts like Linkedin account that is not created a few months when the project was announced that would be great, it adds transparency to the project. I invest money in real life projects and first thing that I look at are the people behind it, are they real people? Are they knowledgeable about the project that they launched? Is the project feasible?

Agree with you! The people are the bread and butter of any project. You can have the best idea, develop the best technology, but without the right people most of the time nothing will grow of the seed.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All airdrops are ponzi schemes! on: October 01, 2017, 05:46:50 PM
I don't think airdrops are ponzi-schemes but they are premined scams.

People are trusting the devs that they'll distribute the coins fairly while there are no guarantees at all for that. And cryptos should be absolutely trustless so airdrops (and ICOs) are taking a huge step backwards.

Also, people can buy bitcointalk accounts (legal but discouraged) and participate in airdrops multiple times.

So the "devs" might have 50 sockpuppet accounts they ask coins to. It's basically the next iteration of the "x% premined" scam as it is not that transparent.

There's also the argument that if a dev creates coins/tokens out of thin air for absolutely free (airdrop/ICO), those coins are worthless. The dev is just convincing people they're not worthless as if he would sell rocks lying around telling people they're valuable. With mining at least creating a coin actually costs money which creates a floor price.

Thank you! Appreciate your time and will to educate me!

My thought till now was actually that airdrops are worthless, but again they might be not if a real value stands behind them or good project... yet I do not feel confortable to join airdrops and I cannot tell it why...
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All airdrops are ponzi schemes! on: October 01, 2017, 05:40:52 PM

I personally never participated in any airdrop as there are voices around that ALL airdrops are ponzi schemes!

Whats your thought about this "statement"?

Can some1 give deeper insight and background info about the airdrop principle and why its a ponzi scheme or MLM technique?

We (Licensium Team) ( Ann:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2129844.0) where thinking months back on airdrop but decided to go the ico way!

Thx in advance!

What do you mean airdrops are ponzi schemes? They are just what the term confines: airdrops. Byteball is an airdrop, is it a ponzi scheme? I don't think so. Even if generally airdrops are a weak way to distribute coins, if the project is solid like Byteball, I don't see why would you accuse it of being a ponzi only because the distribution method are airdrops. IT needs further explanation to me.

Ponzis usually involve some sort of guaranteed return or something scammy, and I dont think Byteball is scammy.

DONīT GET ME WRONG! I DONīT ACCUSE!

I want to know more about airdrops and why some people telling its ponzi scheme!
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get fast rich in crypto world? on: October 01, 2017, 05:36:59 PM
Getting rich really fast is more luck theme for sure. If you in the right place in right time you could achieve it. But for the most situations you have to be ready to work as much as needed and trying as much as needed before you will get it.

That`s it. You should know as much as possible about crypto, but there`s no way to get rich without luck and the right timing.

Truly, truly! Trading always have a gambling aspect in itself! The key for me is to keep the gambling as low as possible!

431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get fast rich in crypto world? on: October 01, 2017, 04:36:54 PM
I think that the best thing to do is invest in the technology you believe
yes you can predict some times that a coint will jump x100, but many coins are not really willing to do that
only coins that really deserve it, doing it
but many coins are getting pumped only because they are in bittrex, and bittrex not accepting new coins
i hope that this shit will stop when decetralized coins enter to the game
this became too ugly
still, the safes way is to invest in a coin that has great technology , and not promises/airdrops/spam/big premine etc...

Well BTC got founded out of solving a technical problem, became its own technology, so I believe as well that the technology part is the most safest and successful one!

thanks for the effort but i have a question when i can guess altcoins will drop? the is there a way you can recommend?

You can only guess a drop if some project problems coming up and road-map time line is overdue... read the developer and ANN forums, blogs to get clues.... Yet there are whales pumping and dumping where you will never know when its happening...

Trading beginner tips!

( Brought to you by Licensium & Trusted Nodes team members https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2129844.0)

1. Regularly read Bitcointalk forum
2. Check coinmarketcap.com for current real coin values
3. Check coinmarketcap.com history of coin you are interested in
4. Check the ANN thread of the coin on Bitcointalk
5. Many coins have their own blogs/ forums you need to follow to be up to date
6. At start choose coins that are already established and stable
7. Make yourself a portfolio of 3 - 5 coins for start
8. Do not jump in ongoing coin pumps, you never know when it will dump.
9. Make yourself a strategy for coins you will long term invest and maybe 2 gamble coins that are more risky but offer higher profit.
10. I recommend starting with Bittrex I cannot recommend Bittrex anymore because they need to verify your IDENTITY in order to let you withdraw BTC and alt coins.
11. Do not instantly sell your coins if they dumb instantly for no obvious reason ( research why)
12. At the beginning its better to aim for small profits like 5% - 10% +
13. Always keep some BTC to react when needed (buy)
14. Start slowly, take your time. 2 month in research and observation is recommended.
15. Always reinvest a share of your profit in your favorite coins and use a share of profit to gamble
16. Do not jump instant in new coins with big investment. If it looks promising to you start low and follow the progress.
17. If you advance and make good experience you could start to invest in icos, but watch out lots of scam around.
18. Pull out some % in USD from your profit from time to time.
19. Control your emotions when the prices is going up or down.

* Additional Tips from community members:

20. Never be emotional in your trading. Be objective! (thx to @Investor for the tip)
21. I also advice that when you already developed a good trading strategy, you stick into it and keep your discipline  (thx to bamboylee for this tip)

Good luck!

Would appreciate to add more tips to the list to give some valued info to beginners!

Number 10: you cannot recommend bittrex anymore, which website can you recommend now?

Well the problem with Bittrex is that you need to identify yourself in order to make bigger withdraws than 0.25 BTC (what is a quite small amount). I personally do not want to identify myself with ID (except to executives or governmental organisations). And I do have a problem how Bittrex is not pointing out to this rule when opening an account. OTher Bittrex is a trusted and well organized trading portal.

Im trading on 3 other sites, but at this point I do not want to make any recommendation. Here are some well known trading portals, but you will make your own research about them and decide if you will chose the one or other:

- Poloniex
- Bitsquare
- Shapeshift
- Yobit

437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to start trading alt coins? Beginner Tips! on: October 01, 2017, 06:46:52 AM
IMO, the rest doesn't matter. The most important thing is not chart analysis or even trying to anticipate a pump in the coin. Invest in what you believe in. Also, invest in an active dev team that has great ideas and is constantly updating their code.

Buy into an altcoin only if you're ready to hold it for 6+ months. Don't buy if you're only in it for the short term as you'll probably lose out on a lot of profits if the price does go up. Patience is key with the altcoin markets.

Invest in project you believe they will be successful and hold. That is one of the key elements! Good said! Thank you.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get fast rich in crypto world? on: October 01, 2017, 06:45:18 AM
There is no way to get rich fast in crypto. It is not magical trick. It's a mind and experience game by experts who runs  the market. With good experience and vast knowledge you can earn sound profit from altcoin trading without no more greed. If anyone have a patience then he will be successful guaranteed 100%.

Exactly there is no magic involved, rather knowledge, education, patience and hard work!
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to start trading alt coins? Beginner Tips! on: October 01, 2017, 05:45:07 AM
i would also like to say again how important it is to take profits. I investet in some good ones very early (NEO; ARK;PAY, usw.) but  got to greedy and didnt take some nice profit and then reinvested later.
We live and learn

Cheers

This is actually a thing most of us forget or ignore, but taking out profit is mandatory. I know myself if a coin is running good I tend to keep the profit and re-invest instead to take it out in the past. Now I follow my hard rule and take out profit no mater the opportunity that might wait to re-invest.
