421  Economy / Economics / Re: Benefit from Higher Education? on: March 02, 2023, 07:04:08 PM
I wonder if higher education will help for entrepreneurship?
I am more interested in how much theory will help in this, because during a long study we do not get practice, this will be possible only when we start doing business, until that moment we will not be able to know how much it will help us.

This can help us if we need a license, but in some cases it can be obtained without a higher education.

Statistically, 95% of entrepreneurs have a bachelor's degree or higher and I wonder, for those of you who are involved in entrepreneurship, how useful was higher education for you?
Entrepreneurship generally comes with experience and mostly as an inborn talent as well. It's hard to learn it through theory however as an entrepreneur you should know everything be it finance, be it geography, be it current affairs, be it taxes. So obviously learning these things through theory is important. The proper way is to learn these things through theory and then implement practically all these things in your business to gain experience.
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reason for accepting bitcoin as a payment? on: March 02, 2023, 06:58:50 PM
Organisations, medium businesses and small businesses are accepting crypto, not rapidly but it's growing naturally. Customers are asking merchants to accept crypto as payment for services they are providing.

Well, this is a really basic reason. But merchants do have other reasons as well to accept crypto payments.

What's your reason?
My reason to accept crypto payment will obviously be anonymity. Who doesn't likes less taxes? Payment mades here will be anonymous and anyways I always invest a certain amount of money in Cryptos, this money will directly go into Cryptos as an investment and nothing else. For some people like especially dealing in digital goods it becomes the cheapest alternative for cross border payments as well.
423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 19, 2023, 06:43:37 PM
but believe me it was not a one sided win. India's team really fought back hard in this match at one time, it seems that India batsmen will fall short of the Australian first innings target of 263.
I wasn't referring to the first innings here. I was referring to the second innings where India decimated Australia which was a one sided affair.

I won't say it was a humiliating defeat as the pitch was not up to the standard and India should focus on making better pitches.
Predictable nonsense as usual. Only losers focus on excuses like pitch, toss etc instead of accepting the fact that they lost which is all that matters at the end of the day. Think!
Exactly my point. The pitch was not that bad. It was a good match which could have easily gone till 4th day. It was just that Australia Collapsed too badly this morning. If they would have batted till 200-250 once again, then this match would have easily gone till 4th or 5th day. Also if you see this morning it wasn't that pitch had deteriorated or something. It was a low-bounce pitch since the very beginning, a few balls were coming too low since the first innings. It was bad shot selections that cost India wickets today. I saw a map showing the strike points of Indian batsmen and Australian batsmen and you could easily see the difference. Atleast 4-5 batsmen of Australia got out because of sweeps/ reverse sweeps on the wrong balls. Indian batsmen on the other hand played much less sweeps.
424  Local / India / Re: Separate section for crypto in new ITR forms on: February 19, 2023, 06:30:33 PM
So the new budget guidelines have been announced and it has been said that the new ITR forms will have a separate section for crypto income.
A tax rate of 30% would be applicable for any income from transfer of cryptocurrencies. No deductions or exemptions allowed on such incomes.

Crypto trading has become legal in India after all  Tongue but it's just that the high tax rate which is bothering many crypto enthusiasts in India.
Are you guys going to fill up the crypto section in the new ITR forms ?

I guess we don't really need to fill it up until we exchange the coins for INR and withdraw to our bank account.
How would the government know if I hold any coins ?

Source: https://www.outlookindia.com/business/new-itr-forms-have-separate-section-for-crypto-income-details-here-news-262204
Interesting news. But obviously, as the income has been taxed now they would want the complete detail of the income you have earned along with how much amount you are deducting as the cost of acquisition. But yes as you said tracing the actual amount both for sales & purchase is difficult especially if the transaction is done on some foreign exchanges. I think the bigger puzzle right now for most of the crypto folks is the TDS on cryptos, government has not given any schema or form for it so far but has already started levying penalty for it which is quite strange.

Is it so ?  Sad
I thought there would be some common section for TDS while filling the ITR forms.

No, so I am talking about this from the deductor's perspective. If you deduct the TDS of someone, then you will have to deposit that Tax with the government and then file a return with the Income tax department denoting that for which PAN have you deducted the tax for. For this case there is a separate form which they told they will come out with for deposit of the TDS but last I checked there was no new schema for upload of this Return.
425  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beginner Averaging future trading. on: February 19, 2023, 06:19:54 PM
Deer Mates i have started a plain to shorting BTC at different levels i start my trade with 3$ at the price of 17091$ but market keeps going higher then i take another trade for averaging my opening position at 17269 with another 3$ and then i open another short trade at 17455$ and now market is going higher and higher and my liquidation price is 2090$ which is not far but i tomorrow deposit more money for take liquidation price further away , And make some more short DCA ,
So guys what are your thoughts and advices .
This is an insane way of trading. DCA first of all is never a trading technique, in trading one should do laddering of its positions instead of doing a DCA. This means you have to increase your position with the trade moving towards you and not against you. In trading, your capital is your biggest asset and everything depends on liquidity that is why stop losses are important, you cannot hold onto a losing trade because you are not only losing this trade but also other potential trades. DCA is used more in longer-term trades or positional trading where you don't rely on liquidity. Where you just want to set aside the amount in a currency you have already done analysis with.
426  Economy / Economics / Re: The fear of global recession is real or just a speculation? on: February 19, 2023, 05:52:49 PM
There is much discussion in both the print and electronic media regarding the probability of global recession as a consequence of ongoing war in Ukraine, but I think unlikely to happen any time soon, even if it does, it is expected to be less severe than recession in 2007, as global GDP is still growing albeit at a slow rate. The real challenges for policy makers are growing debt, climate change and increasing frequency of natural disasters, such as earthquake, hurricanes and floods, which pose significant risk to world economy. These need to be addressed by global community urgently, in order to ensure a stable and thriving economy.
Natural calamities are big challenges but what can you do against natural disasters such as Earthquakes/ Hurricanes? Earthquakes are absolutely unavoidable because they happen due to movement of tectonic plates, humans do not have any impact on those, they aren't doing any such activity which is impacting this movement. Also if you see Earthquakes have been a major part of Earth's Geology since it's start, so obviously it's not that we are doing something that is increasing it. At best we can build structures which can be Earthquake resitant but despite that there is a huge chance not everything will be Earthquake resistant. So recessions due to such reasons are reallly hard to resolve.
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin DCA - always same amount or do you change depending on price? on: February 18, 2023, 08:42:10 PM
Hello all,

I currently have 0.08 BTC at an average price of $19000 and just wondering what everyone does when we have pumps like we are currently seeing.

I feel I have a great average currently but now that it has shot up to $24,600 buying now will increase my average price quite a lot.

I usually DCA weekly but thinking I may miss this week and buy more once we have another pullback.

Just wondering what everyone else does, do you buy the same amount each time or less as its more expensive?
It depends generally the amount you buy depends on the analysis you do as to how down it can go. If you are highly probable that market will fall then obviously it's advisable to keep a larger chunk for the future when price will further fall. And if you are doubtful about the price to further fall then it's obviously better to invest a better chunk right now. But yes if you are not doing any such analysis then it's better to keep equal proportions only.

429  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 18, 2023, 07:40:04 PM
If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich. Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment. There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage. So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?
Obviously, it'll be a big hit for anyone on the forum. Most of the people who joined the forum before 2016 are the ones who actually have a good amount invested in bitcoins. So if it crashes all of us will be poor. But this is applicable to almost anything, be it some stock, some Fund, some Real estate or any other thing. I think that is the main reason why most of finance experts suggest that you should only put a certain percentage of your total holding in the specific assets. Basically putting your eggs into different baskets so that even if one of the basket breaks you don't lose your complete holding.

How many times? How many times this triplet will save top order's ass?
Freaking unbelievable and mighty impressed with Axar-Ashwin. India was in a dire situation but boy o boy they saved us again.
These guys deserve a big raise or some bonus IMO. Aussies will be disappointed, for obvious reasons and now they have to bat with just 1 run lead. I believe anything over 150 chase would be too tough at this deck.
True. It's happening way too often with India across all formats these days. Rahul and Pujara don't deserve any more chances in the test and ODI formats if you ask me. Ashwin and Jadeja are legendary all-rounders while Axar is on his way to becoming one.

Australia started off well in the 2nd innings and I am excited to see who ends up winning this match filled with a plethora of twists.

139/7. And from that, the score was 253/8. Axar Patel has become a better all-rounder with time. He along with Ravichandran Ashwin saved India from an embarrassing score. Australia is currently leading by 62 runs. But that lead could have been a lot bigger if Axar Patel and Ashwin were not there for India. Honestly, I am not very interested in test cricket. But this match is keeping my interest because I believe we are going to see a result from this test match. If somehow Australia ends up losing this one, I have to say that they would be throwing away a very good chance.
Axar Patel has actually proven to be the next Jadeja for the team now. I am no more afraid of what will happen after Jadeja retires or if he is no fitter because Axar is absolutely ready to take his place. Axar just needs to focus more on his bowling right now. Has to become consistent like Jadeja and more disciplined on his approach. He won't get a lot of chances in the team for sure. Because it's a rare thing that India will play with 3 spinners in the team especially when they play outside the subcontinent. So he will soon have to compete with Jadeja for a spot. So he has to make sure even during that time his form remains good.
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 17, 2023, 07:05:04 PM
What's the playing XI you guys are expecting for India in tomorrow's 2nd test match of India vs Australia? I am expecting atleast two changes for sure. One is KL Rahul might sit outside and Gill will get a chance to play tomorrow. Secondly I expect even Shreyas Iyer to play tomorrow but honestly it'll be not a good thing for SKY's morale to make him sit outside just after giving one chance so not sure it they'll do this or not. Rest of the team I think should remain exactly the same.
There will be small changes, and the match is going to be very interesting. Losing the first test match, Australia wants to win the match and it'll perform better than the first match. Australia too will have small changes. Match is being played on the New Delhi ground and Australia team players are finding difficulty in getting adopted to the weather condition.
Absolutely opposite change from what I expected, I honestly don't know who is backing KL Rahul so much that he still got a chance to play in this match in place of In form Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer playing the match instead of SKY. I don't know if Iyer wasn't fit in previous match or what he was the obvious choice in 1st test why would you remove SKY just on basis of first match.
432  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 17, 2023, 06:46:23 PM
Many governments are moving to push hard to reduce sales of diesel and petrol cars, the European Parliament has officially approved a law banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the EU from 2035

Quote
The landmark law will require carmakers to cut down CO2 emissions by 100 percent.
The 100 percent cut in CO2 emissions from new cars sold would make it impossible to sell petrol or diesel-powered cars in the 27-country bloc. The law that comes into effect in phases that will require a 55 percent cut in CO2 emissions for new cars starting 2030, which is a much higher target in comparison to the current 37.5 percent.

Source ---> https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/auto/electric-cars/no-petrol/diesel-car-sales-by-2035-european-parliament-approves-ban/articleshow/97939363.cms

Some reports indicate that the costs of running an electric car are actually lower than the costs of running a car with an internal combustion engine.
So, will this goal be achieved by the year 2035? Will the cars be more efficient and at a good price compared to current prices, or is it a policy that may take decades?
It can definitely be a reality especially for the Europe it can be a reality much sooner than the rest of the world. Reason is Europe is already ahead in this race than others and most the electricity produced in the country also comes from non conventional and non polluting renewable sources only which makes sense for them to implement e vehicles. 15 years down the dream can definitely be a reality. But for overall airpollution and CO2 levels i am not so sure how much of it comes from Vehicles only.
433  Economy / Economics / Re: They still think crypto is easy to manipulate? - CEO Crunchbase on: February 17, 2023, 05:42:11 PM
I dont know if I am on the right track but I laughed very hard after reading the title of that news (referred below). I dont know why would he say that but article just comapres the whole stuff with Fed Interest rate hikes and how they are affecting the crypto market, however in reality it's just baseless assumption.

How can he say and compare between the market cap of Tesla stocks and crypto market and state that it's easy to manipulate because both of them have mere difference of 350 billions dollars. He thinks, 1 trillion dollar is very small market cap for the crypto and it could be easily manipulated.

However, his assumption is based on the volume alone and not the factual analysis. Isn't crypto is also a technological advancement that was invented very recently and also under stringent jurisdiction all over the world? It still makes up most of the market despite the fact that its being boxed up by governments.

Another point he forgot to consider is, decentralization. How one can get to manipulate such market which is distributed through public ledger down to the pennies!

Quote
Aside from Bitcoin, Ether, and a few other cryptocurrencies with a high trading volume, investing in crypto is "more risky" than buying penny stocks, according to Ronald AngSiy, COO of CEO.ca, who previously worked as a blockchain expert.

"Any individual can manipulate crypto prices today because of how small the market cap is," he observed. "Once you get to the smaller cryptocurrencies, that's where it's significantly more risky than a penny stock for investors."

He highlighted that Tesla stock has a market cap of $650 billion, while the entire crypto market only has a market cap of $1 trillion, making crypto "easy" to manipulate.

"If you look at the price of a Binance token, versus the price of a Tesla stock, you'll see how small the crypto market is," he suggested. "It's hard, in such a small market, to say how what's happening in the world will directly affect prices today."

AngSiy spoke with David Lin, Anchor and Producer at Kitco News.

Bearish Crypto Trends in 2023

AngSiy suggested that there is "more pain ahead for crypto investors" in 2023, as the Federal Reserve continues to hike interest rates.

"How that pain is manifested is hard to exactly say, because the crypto market is so small that you could have one or two front-end entities manipulate the price of whole crypto market," he said.

He observed that since Bitcoin came into being in 2008, the crypto market has only experienced a "low interest-rate world," with the Effective Fed Funds Rate (EFFR) never rising beyond 2.5 percent until 2022. Currently, the EFFR is around 4.5 percent, and Fed Chairman Jerome Powell has stated that further hikes are expected until the Fed reaches a terminal rate of around 5 percent in 2023.

"We've never seen it [crypto] in a high and growing interest-rate world, which is what is happening right now," he said. "When you look at low interest-rate environments, it's easier for investors to borrow money, and then to take that money and then allocate a portion of it to crypto… now you're seeing money being pulled back from risk assets [like crypto] and either allocated to safer assets, or you're seeing risk assets being margin called."

Despite the fact that FED is continuously increasing interest rates I believe bitcoin had null effects during the new year season. In fact opposite of that happened and bitcoin went up pretty good and it's not even full fist quarter.

What market he is talking about ? Interest on the bitcoin is not getting increased?
If we go by his logic. Small countries with a small stock markets are worthless. I understand there are small cap Cryptos which are merely nothing but shitcoins created for manipulation yet market isn't as easy to be manipulated by a single hand. Also it's generally a phase eventually the market will grow and evolve to a stage where it will be hard to manipulate even for the biggest. Talking about manipulation, stock markets despite all the large cap stocks still gets manipulated. So how is that better than Cryptos?
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One reason why bitcoin is still the King on: February 17, 2023, 05:20:09 PM
There are alot of different cryptocurrency and alot also has their Blockchain and even good projects but in the end their prices depends much on bitcoin. If bitcoin continues raising they pump significantly and if it falls they dump depending on the dip. The other thing that affects altcoin include : project not being able to meet up with expectations or something affecting the Blockchain and other internal affairs which can't really affect Bitcoin.
Trying to get a good altcoin is always tasking and  after all the effort even if it reaches expectations, it's price still remains dependent on how Bitcoin is growing. So in the End bitcoin still remains the King
Obviously bitcoin is and as per my guess will always remain the king. I remember the buzz which was there around the bull run that Eth or Solana might take over bitcoin as the most used currency but once the bear run came in we clearly saw btc regained it's dominance and drove the whole market down and even now market will climb back up only when it climbs back up.

436  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 16, 2023, 06:58:52 PM
Just found a restaurant where the individual meal costs only 0,57$! Meal composed by rice, toasted cassava flour and black bean stew with few pieces of pork meats. Feeds one person decently and the taste is good. You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!

Do you know any restaurants which serve cheaper meals than that where you live? It must be a meal, not snacks.
Which country are you talking about? 35$ might look cheap in the US but for a meal in a country like Pakistan 35$ for a month for a person two meals is still on the average or the higher side only. You can get away with cheaper cost if you cook at home for a family of 3-4. Also in India as well you can find decent portion of food which costs around the similar price at a lot of mediocre places and many people especially the wage labour do eat it.
437  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 16, 2023, 06:48:55 PM
First of all I don't see such a thing happening anytime soon not in 2025 for sure. Also seen from US reaction in the Ukraine Invasion I am skeptical whether they will even go for a full fledged war in that scenario too. But let's say if it does happen obviously it will lead to a dark future. China has lot of trade routes to the rest of the world and delivers a lots of things in various countries. Such a war would mean great shortages of such things. But I am sure some other countries like India would benefit a lot from such a war as they can do what US did in world wars.
438  Economy / Economics / Re: How Does Debt Crisis Boost Cryptocurrencies? on: February 12, 2023, 07:50:48 PM
Your points are obviously correct, bitcoin is definitely a hedge against inflation and no argument that if I see a wide yearly range of bitcoin it has give mind bobbling returns so volatility can be contradicted with the better returns. So obviously it's a better option than fiat. But one problem that I really feel it has is that in case of a natural calamity crisis, you'll see it will be the first one to lose it's value because connectivity and internet might go down. Economically this is great but practically this can be a problem.
439  Local / India / Re: MetaMask now supports UPI and other mode of Payments. on: February 12, 2023, 07:18:42 PM
Users of Metamask can now buy crypto using the mobile app. Metamask has integrated onramp.money’s API on its app that supports various local payment methods including UPI. I tried to make a purchase of INR 1000 worth of ETH and it gave me a quote. At the moment you can only purchase Ethereum and USDT from the app. The processing fee is not that much but you cannot ignore the staggering network fee and I also felt that the rate are high.

Source.

Man are you serious? ₹540 network fees? What is network fees here? Is it the Ethereum network fees or onramp money network fees? Also is it sort of flattish at around ₹500 or is at a percentage of total amount because no one would want ₹20000 going into network fees for doing like a ₹50000 transaction. Also does it requires any KYC thing or not?
440  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it true that 80% of the world's wealth in the hands of 20%? on: February 12, 2023, 07:11:31 PM
According to various studies and world inequality report 2018, large portion of world's wealth is concentrated  in the hands of small portion of population, while the bottom 50% holds less than 2%. This distribution of wealth is highly unequal and cause of concern for many people, as it contributes to social and political unrest all over the world.

What governments can do to make it more equitable?

https://wir2018.wid.world/
Only thing government can do is make socialism in practice to improve things but we have seen in the past even that didn't worked well so technically nothing much that they can do. You can tax the rich as much as you want they will eventually find loopholes in it and pay minimal taxes moreover you'll also have want businesses to generate income in your country so obviously you'll want they are not taxed much too. So this gap can only be reduced to a certain extent not more than that.
