Can't you just register your DNS through the client?
422  Economy / Economics / Re: Namecoin and Bitcoin value are now equal (based on difficulty) on: June 18, 2011, 10:47:31 PM
If namecoin has a 21 million coin cap like bitcoin, then namecoin will eat bitcoin eventually and there will be alot of angry people about that.

I'll sell you a 32gb iphone4 and grove case for 50 bitcoins if you get sick of holding on to them this weekend. Clearcoin?

I don't think his username is a prophetic taunt. I think it's in tune with the mentality of someone who is self defeating to begin with. AKA someone who would leave 500k out in the open, even though they know they shouldn't. Half a million dollar lesson we can all learn for free.

Wow, bitcoin is fucking awesome.

I don't want a middle man printing me pictures of my money. How can I print them?
427  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will there realistically be another major advance in mining before we finish up? on: June 16, 2011, 06:35:28 AM
I hear a quantum computer came out or is coming out. What impact would that have on hashing?
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: June 16, 2011, 04:40:40 AM
Turns out GPU Solo mining for namecoins is scary as fuck. All you get to see is how much your hashrate is in GUIminer, but the whole time namecoind won't report any indication at all that you're mining. You just sit there and hope to fuck its working.

Is that about the jist of it?

My rate is 750mhash/s, so I should get a block a day. I just read one guys report who has twice my hash rate, but he only gets 1 block a day. Mine has been going for about 18 hours now. Gunna have a nervous breakdown in the next 6 hours if namecoind getinfo tells me I still have a balance of 0.00000000.
429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Namecoin better than Bitcoin? on: June 15, 2011, 07:04:46 AM
How cool would that be if instead of registering a dns for a year you could focus all that hashing power on something else, like cracking all the wireless around your area in 1 second.
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Namecoin better than Bitcoin? on: June 15, 2011, 06:30:05 AM
Why are people pushing this cryptic DNS so hard? wilileaks still has their .org site and I heard in these forums you guys went with .org and not .com because it's more immune to seizure. Why is .bit anybetter? Could the hammer of god easily go after a .org?

Doubled your hashrate, but if I tried it I'd have to buy motherboards, powersupplies, cpus, memmory, flash drives. Even then, given the nature of rigs paying for themselves, that must have been a rewarding flip. Congrats. Would have been no different than just buying another 5970.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I know nothing about Linux but don't be a dick to me on: June 14, 2011, 07:14:52 AM
It's no different than buying a better card and running it at stock.

Edit: No, go with the first card. If you're worried about a 20 dollar difference, then go with the newer card that can hash more and resell better.

Double Edit: My bad, I just saw the rebate, I'd still get the 2 6950s and get more mhashes for less power. You can probably flash them to 6970s, but I bet the pipes are laser cut and it's pointless, unless someone could comment.

So go big or go home, basically.
436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I know nothing about Linux but don't be a dick to me on: June 14, 2011, 07:00:19 AM
I honestly don't know. Thats just what the triggers (-k -q agression=12 and all of that) I use work best with. I noticed that there are other combinations that ask you to run your memory at stock clock rates though. Maybe someone here could expand on that.
437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I know nothing about Linux but don't be a dick to me on: June 14, 2011, 06:52:18 AM
The memory on the video doesn't matter one bit. Actually, I under-clocked my video card's memory savagely (from 1000mhz to 300mhz) and it increased my mhash rate by about 10 percent and lowered my over all temps by maybe 3 - 4 degrees celcius. Don't worry about memory at all.

Edit: I looked at your card. That looks like an ok buy, a great buy if you plan on overclocking and tweaking the shit out of it. Have a look at this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison chart of hardware, but from what I learned about the bitcoin game is that you need to execute as soon as possible seeing as how time is always an issue.
438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I know nothing about Linux but don't be a dick to me on: June 14, 2011, 06:43:34 AM
Hi, I love your title, technical people do tend to be dicks. I'm nice, which probably means I have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about. However, I've tried to partition a thumbdrive before and after lots of heartache I found out that you need special software to do it. I was able to create a partition after a while, but the rest of the drive went away, so it was totally pointless. In closing, partitioning a thumbdrive is either not easy, or not possible. At least in windows. I'm only posting this so you can start thinking about other alternatives in case nobody has an answer for you. Otherwise, sorry for the spam.
439  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Any interest in Beer Homebrew equipment? on: June 14, 2011, 06:27:43 AM
This was one of my many unfinished projects. If anybody here is interested I could take pictures of everything I have tomorrow. Items include:

4 5.5 gallon corny kegs
3 15.5 gallon converted keggles with holes and hardware. They need to be welded though, I bought the screw on stuff and I wouldn't trust it.
1 counterflow wort chiller (very nice)
1 20lb CO2 tank(needs to be totally emptied before shipping)
1 Regulator
2 soda guns
2 chiller plates
Other misc. hardware for lines, caps for the corny kegs.

I'd like to get 24 bitcoins + shipping for it all, and if someone is interested let me know and I'll get everything up. I live in West Texas incase that has an impact.

As long as I get rich, I don't really give a fuck.
