421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 28, 2023, 03:32:30 PM
At this rate, I am seeing that now most corporate companies plan to remove the college degree requirement for jobs, which will transform the college education long term, and its looking like it won't even be needed unless you're going to be a PhD or a Lawyer etc etc.

The traditional mutual fund / 529 plan isn't really needed anymore if college isn't going to be a requirement, but now I am more so just thinking of a life savings plan is a much better and more flexible option. Maybe just set them each up a wallet and load x amount each making quarterly contributions. By the time they are old enough surely they would have more money in that account anyways compared to the mutual fund, right?

422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see individual satoshi becoming valuable? on: December 28, 2023, 03:25:41 PM
One can certainly hope right?! It that is the case then all of us would surely be very well off to do as we please Cheesy. That would be very cool to see happen, if we ever get to see that in our life time. That is a longgggg ways away though I mean we are talking nearly 30-40 years of HODLing, Bitcoin is not even this old yet. I suppose it is possible though! If each Sat was like $1 would be insaneee.
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ordinals website is under a DDoS attack on: December 28, 2023, 03:21:50 PM
It is most definitely a criminal act, but regulators are at least catching up on the corporate level working with the insurance carriers to make it an absolute requirement to have an Endpoint Detection and Response solution in place before they can even get cyber insurance which is like an antivirus for business but w/ AI and much better lol. The irony in it all is that without the bad guys a whole industry wouldn't be there, the cyber insurance industry. It has an reciprical relationship, sort of like light and darkness, they go hand in hand. Which side are you on though?

For the personal computers and devices, I think its a shame that most people have no clue about cyber security or how to protect themselves or their data. I'm sure a lot of folks here are praising this effort to take down ordinals though due to the high fees lmao
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Arthur Hayes Believes ETFs Might Cause the Demise of Bitcoin on: December 28, 2023, 03:07:57 PM
I think more so I would be afraid of the bitcoin market manipulation via ETF/Futures contracts trading. But at the same time these markets are completely stand alone from bitcoin and shouldn't have that much affect on the coin price but it honestly probably will have a huge impact. As good as it will be at the start for new money flooding into bitcoin i'm not so sure on the long term outlook if you're looking at it from that perspective and how they have manipulated markets like the precious metals markets.
425  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODLers, When Will You Sell? on: December 28, 2023, 02:59:17 PM
Once my coins are valuable enough to pay for my mortgage I would be happy to sell it. It has quite a ways to go. When it gets to that point I will have more freedom and disposable income because once my house is paid off my bills will be minimal, so at that point my new goal won't be to HOLD it'll be to focus all of my time and energy on acquiring more currency, starting my own business, and becomming self sufficient. I think this is a pretty good goal.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally I did it (I am happy to join). on: December 24, 2023, 11:11:16 PM
Wow this is huge and congratulations on your first bitcoin! Keep holding and stacking and always hold the long term growth vision in mind. It is quite a roller coaster to be a bitcoiner, it won't be easy but it'll be worth it!
427  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which mining stocks are holding? on: December 24, 2023, 11:09:14 PM

But I have failed to see any such mining setup and investments in the same till date that are legit and have not been scams.
If you are talking about cloud mining, then there are many difficulties in this business. The average miner has very few opportunities to buy cheap ASICs and get a good price for electricity, so most new small miners will now find it very difficult to compete with large mining companies.
Buying bitcoins or shares of mining companies is an individual choice. The stock market is more regulated by law, and many investors find it easier to buy shares while there is no Bitcoin ETF.

I think that there are some mining companies that will allow you to profit share if you invest in the hardware right? I think could mining is definitely the hot space right now. It's constantly advancing and these mining stocks are proving to be a great way to gain BTC exposure without actually buying the coin
428  Economy / Economics / Re: Learn to use DEBT in a proper way to create asset on: December 24, 2023, 11:06:38 PM
Robert K always talked about this, being able to utilize debt and the depreciation for tax benefits, I love how much of an advocate he is to BTC, also a huge gold and silver and of course real estate tycoon. I definitely need to brush up on utilizing these tax incentives better

432  Economy / Economics / Re: The Role of Education in Financial Literacy on: December 24, 2023, 08:49:57 PM
How to Equip Yourself with Essential Knowledge to Succeed in the World of Cryptocurrency

As the world becomes increasingly digitalized, the importance of financial literacy, especially in cryptocurrency, cannot be overstated. With the rise of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, it is crucial to be knowledgeable about these assets and how to invest and manage them wisely. However, the question remains: what is the role of education in financial literacy?

While some people believe that hands-on experience is the best way to learn, it cannot be denied that education in economics and finance can provide a strong foundation for success. Higher education can teach valuable skills such as critical thinking, data analysis, and risk assessment, all of which are crucial in the world of finance and investments. It can also provide theoretical knowledge that one would not otherwise acquire through everyday experiences.

On the other hand, some argue that education in finance and economics does not necessarily equate to financial literacy. They point out that many successful investors are self-taught, and that practical experience is the best teacher. Moreover, they contend that education in finance can often be expensive and not accessible to everyone.

Despite the differing opinions on the role of education in financial literacy, it is clear that individuals should seek out knowledge from a variety of sources to best equip themselves to succeed in the world of cryptocurrency. This can include following cryptocurrency news and social media, reading books and blogs on finance and investments, and seeking out practical experiences through investing and trading activities.

I would also add in that consulting with the professionals and seeking them out is a fantastic way to gain understanding on whatever you wish to know more about. Even cold calling them up and just being very direct with questions I guarantee that you will get your answers because the reality of it is that most people like to help others and bitcoin especially love talking and teaching people about Bitcoin!  Cool
433  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The best countries tax wise for Bitcoin on: December 24, 2023, 08:42:15 PM
I know someone from Grand Cayman who is living that tax free lifestyle, thats the way to go! Makes me want to move over to the carribbean! It would certainly be an adventure living in any of these countries wouldn't it! I for one would love to visit all of them, I only wish that the US was this way!
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC were to be adopted as a global reserve currency? on: December 24, 2023, 08:37:27 PM
I think that if Bitcoin were fully adopted globally as the world reserve currency society would definitely look a whole lot different. I think what I honestly would hope for is that we could fully adopt straight bitcoin in stores and online for all goods and services, but also have a cash option for convenience purposes because lets face it cash is still king. That is honeslty a world though that is completely at odds ends with eachother and not quite realistic. Cashless society in the future is what it looks like.
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 24, 2023, 08:29:23 PM
I think the whole thing is ridiculous. And now apparently the same folks who split w/ BSV a portion of or that whole team created Ordinals? I'm not so sure I have been meaning to look more into that honestly. There is so much to this case that i've just stopped checking in on it. I remember when he had to report to WPB courthouse and was requesting to show up virtually instead of coming from like Australia or whereever the heck he is from lol
436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think Bitcoin ETF will be approved? on: December 24, 2023, 08:26:44 PM
Hopefully it'll get approved before this next halving, once that happens then so much money will be flooded into the market. I wonder when it will get approved too, it seems like they just keep kicking the can down the road as long as they can on these things. crypto related financial / gov policy is often reluctant to change because of FUD and association w/ criminal activity / money laundering.
437  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What makes good Bitcoin art? on: December 24, 2023, 06:16:40 AM
Hey Rebel,

It was awesome to meet you at B23, and I'm really glad your found your way to the forum m8!! It was so cool to witness you presenting your artwork to the highest bidder from the scarce city auction at the show. Usually I meet the people on the forum first and then meet them in person but I met you first and then you joined, which js awesome!. What makes good bitcoin art? I think anything that portrays digital freedom and liberty, Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future, your use of symbolism is excellent!

439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 23, 2023, 06:25:56 PM
I think OP just got carried away on his conversation with the friend. Maybe with a bit if a show off haha why would you show someone how much bitcoin you have, considering that is a friend you havent seen in a while.

To be honest, i wont talk about money to someone i havent met for a long time. Not everyone's comfy talking about money, and it could create weird vibes or even stir up unexpected expectations. Plus, you never know who's listening, right? Keep it lowkey and chat about crypto without turning it into a wallet show and tell. It's safer and you won't accidentally make things awkward.

I would definitelly hav eto agree with you Natsuu, it would be wise to not divuldge this information as you never know who could be listening (especially through your electronic devices), this information should be kept secret and safe. This was more of a bragging show off to an old friend to show him his success and get a nod. This type of thing was a flaunt. Education is the most important piece. Explain its importance and show them the way, and if they ask about your holdings I always say that that its rude to ask such a question because its none of their business.
440  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Think i have lost all my bitcoin :( on: December 23, 2023, 06:15:33 PM
Oh man, that is very alarming, have you tried to get another HW and try to upload your seed onto that one? Maybe that could work? These wallets are not secure anymore and can't be trusted. I wouldn't be suprised if it had something to do with what someone at ledger did w/ the code/seeds and now they are draining wallets one by one and sparatically until a large group of people notices that all their money is all gone. I hope that isn't the case. I am terribly sorry for your losses here OP that is never a good feeling. At least you have the wealth of still being alive and breathing!@!!
