421  Economy / Gambling / Whoop! There it is! [BITLOTTO] on: October 09, 2011, 12:28:38 PM
Oct 5 had the biggest jackpot in BitLotto history. 140 BTC!!!!

And the winners:

After some psycho days and nights the coooins finally walleted. It’s me, it’s really me! I could not believe it. Thanks to Bitlotto I’m now able to spread around some btc to my favourite bitcoiners for their free tools and services. That’s what I wanted to do right from the beginning of my mining experience. But with declining prices you can’t be profitable nor donationable. That’s history now. Thanks again...

btw what’s your donation address? I don't think 1% is cost-covering.

time to settle down miners

I used to mine with abcpool for a month now and I am pleased. Uptime was delivered almost alltime and payed shares were adjusted to diff in no time. Instant payout behaved like named. So I decided to raise "freefee" to two %. I know it's not that much but I think every bitcent helps abcpool for development and when diff keeps decreasing I will raise again.

thx abcpool-team, cheerio

CF is not necessary for mining, on some systems it's even hindering.

Ok great, so basiclly i can just let them be in seperate machines?

another question i have is how could i pull more Mh/s's from my cards ? can they hash faster then 370/s wich overclocking, if yes how can i do this in MSI afterburner ? i just installed it on one of my rigs and when it opens it's blank, no info on the card and i cant change anyting. I eidted the CFG file to enable overclocking.

Basically yes, but energy efficiency would be greater if assembled in a single dedicated rig.

taking a look at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison your performance is quiet good (when not allready oc'ed)

for MSI:
I had to install the latest beta v2.2.0 for proper functioning (blank bars)

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

did you edited exactly?:

EnableUnofficialOverclocking   = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2

but be advised:

-tweaking AB cfg will result in a mess if you're not aware of what you are doing!
-extreme ocing stresses your gpu and will result in lesser performance over time or sooner/later in a sudden death
-psu provides enough power?

I can tell you, if you are getting an AMD processor, it must be faster than the Phenom II 955 cause as of now, this CPU even at 3.4Ghz bottlenecks the 5870(at stock clocks).

whoot? but how is this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34591.msg430737#msg430737 possible? and all the other numerous sempron 140 rigs?
I meant this for gaming, it's no trouble to get a cheap sempron, but if the PC was ever to be used for anything other than mining, that CPU will just not do.

agreed of cause

a nice comparison to get an idea fo what power consumtion will be on actual hardware, but you don't have to spend lots-o-$ for the newest stuff. when mining its all about the efficency and it begins with the costs for hardware. so if you just want to mine buy "old" hardware for cheap. for example a Sempron 140 + board with pci-e will do. think twice: don't underrate powercosts! check there if it's worth mining for you: http://bitcoinx.com/profit/ or if it's better to invest $ directly in btc.
438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What CPU to choose for my GPU? on: September 24, 2011, 08:49:54 AM
Choose whichever is cheapest and has the lowest load power draw, because it's likely to be 99% loaded if you plan to use multiple gpus with windows.

for example look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43604.40

Capitalism destroys any natural incentive that comes from human desire and puts it in the hands of multinational concerns that are incapable of true failure. Their managers get profit no matter how well their business work and can only be fired every few million$ or so. That's assuming they are held accountable. There's no competition to do that.

In conclusion, due to little true accountability and the inability to fail, capitalist services are inherently inferior in terms of product output and the vast amount of inefficiency required to generate said product.
