421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I like doing bitcoin trading to earn money on: July 12, 2014, 11:10:10 AM
Day trading has close to 100% failure rate.

I would not say 100 percent.  Make informed decisions, and most of all don't go all in to one coin.   And keep some in BTC and well known Scrypt coins.   There is great profit to be had on alt coins but don't just throw money at it and assume instant profit.  And do it slow learn and don't just jump in with all your coins at once.

People who rush into day trading are usually the impatient type. Most will not survive the first year while the learning curve is well longer than a year.

When being patient and doing a lot of research before buying, and keeping your emotions out of your trading, it really isn't that hard.
If you never sell below the price you bought at, and keep your eyes open to sell on pumps, profits are to be expected. That is if you are modest and consider 10% profits as good; many seem relunctant to sell under 100%.
It's the age old quote; "Greed rules us all"

Want a help from a moderator.

U r perma-banned or banned for a certain period ? If it is your first time, then most likely the second one is true and u should feel lucky that Vod has not already turned u Red for asking loans without co-laterals. Moreover, in your last post u said your alt account can be a co-lateral... this may also be a reason for your ban, though I'm not sure about the exact forum rule of holding alt accounts as co-lateral.

Theymos clearly stated that alt accounts are permitted, as long as they aren't used to evade bans. OP is doing this, evading a ban, and will probably be IP banned or something similar.

Where I can check my or others ip? Only mods can do it? IF he has not permanent IP someone else can be banned instead.
None of the mods have access to IP addresses.

You can't be so sure. I think BadBear and Salty has the power to see your ip and your messages.
Theymos has stated many, many times that only he has access to IPs and will only ever release it by the forceful hand of a court order.

If you're lucky he will compare an IP for you against another use but that's it.

Why didn't you just sell the house and purchase a cheaper property you can actually afford?
My rent is $440 a month, PLEASE PLEASE do show me a mortage where my interest rates are less than that.. any house near me is +200k....
The house when I bought it was 179...  Me and a freind bought it with the plan to fix it up and sell it in 5 years, we stuck to the plan added a 2nd bath.  Sold for 245.
Now I rent at $440 a month.. even with a mortage of $800 + $220 a month property tax that's $1020.   That $220 is a total waste.  So $220 vs 800....  now if I save $680 every month instead of paying it into a house over 20 years that's $163,200.00
Now to actually take out a loan of $163,200.00 would cost me $1,103.00 a month for 20 years.
It would literally cost me double to own a house.
This also does not include realstate fees, lawyer fees, land transfer tax...

Very well said !!

99% of people are not able to do these simple maths.

I dont understand why you did that but selling away your house and rent isn't a good idea. You will be poorer in the long run..
Many loaded people disagree with you.  Google Kevin O'learys view on the housing market, I live in Canada...  We are in a bubble of a bubble.

Exactly. Housing market is a fucking bubble.
Only dumb people buy during a bubble.
It always end in tears and blood.

I can't wait. So much fun.

You realize this wasn't mentioned in the original post right? there was no 'maths' other than general knowledge in property investment.

Canada is a special exception to this rule seeing as they're only now fixing the real estate bubble they currently have over there by putting a ban on foreign investments which was the single biggest reason the average citizen was being out priced of the home buyers market.

@OP After reading your reply I agree that you have made the correct decision, also if I may ask, what are the interest rates in Canada ATM?

Millions of uneducated teenagers on the street without support from their parents or anyone else won't be solved by "hiring more police officers"
I'll try to explain this non sense in your language as you seem to be looking at the $ side of things without a moral perspective.
"More police officers" + millions of board teenagers on the street fending for themselves (gangs) will without a doubt place a massive surge on arrests and tax payer funded prisons.
That means instead of paying a single teacher to control and educate 30 students 6-7 hours a day, by your logic we are now instead accommodating, feeding, protecting and PAYING for an individual who will most likely grow up to have a better understanding of the inside of a jail cell than the real world.
Less educated, productive individuals out there slows down economic growth. The inevitable growth in crime rate will also effect the financial security of local businesses (mexico is a good example of this).

I think that guy was kidding, don't take his words seriously!
I sincerely hope so.
425  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Psychology of Capitalism on: July 11, 2014, 02:58:50 PM
When you depend on money, you have limitations.
Are public schools completely bereft of economics education today?

yes, they are

I don't  understand why we spend billions on paying the teachers for doing nothing

they are a huge burdain to tax payers

wouldn't it be simpler to print out extremy detailed books and the kids would only come to school for exams
where the country would pay controllers short-term for the exams..

you say they couldn't learn?

the society would develop the way there would be many video tutorials and explanations online
there is really no need to waste the hard earned money of the people..

It is not that simple. If we abolished schools, this would evidently give a spur to crime rates (since youths are under control in school even if they are beyond any hope in respect to education). And then we would have to spend even more money struggling with crimes and social disintegration as a result.

I don't think so

There's around 20 teachers in each school, 5 cleaning ladies, 1 principal, 4 assistans and simmilar stuff, 1 janitor...

I'm sure I'm missing something but that's over 30 employees

That means with that money (from only 1 school closed) you could hire almost 30 police officers

That's only 1 school!

Imagine closing all the schools in a city, the city would never be safer

And crime rates wouldn't increase that much, perhaps a slight 10% or something

Hiring a few more cops would do it or setting up cameras in significant locations

A whole bunch of money would be left to use and invest Smiley

I hope you are kidding! Smiley

You can't just hire 30 more police officers. You would need a lot of more people (doctors for wounded in gangs' fights, advocates to defend them and prosecutors to blame, prisons and whatnot). Also, a police officer salary is obviously not equal to that of a cleaning woman. Wink

but it isn't equal to the one of a principal Wink

and I don't know why you're assuming that there will be an all out warfare if schools closed lol

there wouldn't be such gangs, if there would be any change it would be a slight change

not this catastrophy you're describing

I don't even think that extra officers should be hired at all

@OP What makes the 'intelligent' individuals immune from the 'money' that the average people claim as their 'consolation prize'?

There is no bigger waste for an average individual than renting, not sure where the "stress free" is coming from, you still have to produce basically the equivalent of an interest repayment every month.

I suggest you re-purchase (unless real estate is having a bad year where you live).
429  Other / Off-topic / Re: bitcoin can become worthless on: July 11, 2014, 02:13:43 PM
Well I suppose that could be quite disadvantageous to bitcoin, sure hope planet earth doesn't spontaneously blow up, that would really hurt progress.
430  Economy / Speculation / Re: The day that could make us all millionaires! on: July 11, 2014, 01:47:29 PM
A novel concept but I'm afraid you've missed the point of Bitcoin entirely.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very severe blow to bitcoin on: July 11, 2014, 12:56:38 PM
Name one thing the foundation has done to benefit Bitcoin. Seriously, maybe I missed something but I dont know what good the foundation has ever brought...
My thoughts exactly.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How BTCU.biz launched 4000 Bitcoin ATMs in Ukraine on: July 11, 2014, 12:51:12 PM
Even though this is quite amazing and adoption is growing I can understand why some people don't see it as a big move for Bitcoins.

BTC are around to rid of the credit card companies, not be used as a tool by them to make even more money from outrageous fees. None the less Bitcoins are free for ANYONE to use even those we dislike Smiley

434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie DO'S and DONT'S? on: July 10, 2014, 02:08:50 PM
Do:
Your research (about BTC)
Teach yourself the fundamentals of computer security
Contribute to the community
Replace paypal/visa etc with BTC

Don't:
Gamble (This is coming from someone opening a BTC casino)
Trust anyone
Purchase bitcoins for the purpose of 'investment'
Don't replace your bank account with BTC, only supplement it for a credit card/paypal/visa/WU etc
435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 10, 2014, 02:03:08 PM
If you only have bitcoins for investment then you bought them from the wrong reasons.

Problem is mostly everyone here expecting bitcoin price to sky-rock.

One of the biggest hurdles for BTC/Cryptos will be ridding itself of people like that IMO, it's truly ruining the concept.

437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie DO'S and DONT'S? on: July 07, 2014, 12:34:28 PM
Some of these are repeats... but they deserve being repeated!

  • Do encrypt (passphrase protect) your wallet. Don't use a simple passphrase. Don't use a passphrase you use elsewhere. Encryption helps, but understand that it doesn't prevent all types of theft.
  • Do backup your wallet. Different wallet software work in different ways: some wallets you only need to backup once, others you need to backup after every new receiving address is created, and others are somewhere in-between. Understand how this works for the wallet software you've chosen, and be vigilant with your backups!
  • Don't start off owning more BTC than you can afford to lose/have stolen. If you find yourself getting close to your personal limit, search for "cold storage" and find out how to use it. Don't put this off until it's too late.
  • Do choose one of the wallet options from the official choose-your-wallet page here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet. Not all online wallets are bad, however Do heed the warnings on this page regarding some of the less-safe online wallets. Choosing an online wallet does not exempt you from backing up your wallet.
  • Don't download programs from the Internet. This rule is difficult to follow 100%; just be aware that each new program you download and run could be the one that steals your BTC.

Regarding that last rule, here are some guidelines that can help you decide how (un)safe a download is. Note that these are not hard-and-fast rules!

  • Do research a program before downloading it. Are there a lot of websites discussing it if you search for it? Does it have a Wikipedia page that wasn't created yesterday? If either answer is No, Do be more suspicious of it.
  • Software that is open source, especially if the answers above were No, is generally more trustworthy, but Don't assume that something is safe simply because it's authors claim it's open source!
  • Software that is written in a popular scripting language such as Python, Ruby, Perl, JavaScript, etc. is generally more trustworthy, but Don't assume that something is safe simply because it's a script unless you can read and fully understand the entire script! Never download and run something claiming to be a script if it's actually an EXE file.
  • Do look at the number of pages in a thread before downloading any software referenced on the first post of the thread. More pages means a smaller chance of the software being malware (but there's always still a chance it could be malware!). Do avoid software with only a few pages worth of posts - let someone else be the guinea pig!
  • Do look at the Activity count and the Date Registered of users when trying to decide if they're trustworthy, and be more suspicious of Newbies, but Don't automatically assume that a Hero Member is 100% trustworthy.
  • Do err on the side of caution/paranoia. It only takes one piece of malware to steal all of your BTC even if you've encrypted your wallet and even if you're using two-factor authentication.
  • If you've decided to risk downloading something, Do take the time to find the single official download link or website.

Sorry if I sound scary... most people around here are the honest type, but there absolutely are scammers around here too. Use common sense, and have fun!
This sums it up so well lol, good job Btchris.

439  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Predictive Technology on: July 06, 2014, 09:12:43 PM
They are now predicting all kinds of things, like the world cup.
And it is apparently pretty damn accurate. Too bad that octopus died so we can't have a show down.

BigQuery
http://www.reddit.com/r/bigquery/
Well no shit. What do you think IBM does? They try to build these things to analyze big data and make predictions. Make things more efficient. Balh balha blah.  In the end of the day, everything is incremental and relative.  When you're dead and your great grand child is in his 40s, they'll be questioning the same things.

I understand that the technology is not new (they have had randomizers and predictive models forever) but BigQuery is new, and they are getting more data than anyone ever I am pretty sure.
Would've been bought out by now if that was true lol

Google owns it, who is going to "buy it out"? lol
Well there's your answer, already has been bought out lol (I was making an uneducated guess btw).
440  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 06, 2014, 07:18:40 AM
I enrolled myself as a trainee into a large company straight out of high school and slaved there for about 2 years, after finishing my schooling (which they paid for) I was eligible for a real job which was a starting salary of 50k a year.

Would pick this path a thousand times over because while everyone @20 years was still poor and in uni I bought my first investment at 21.
