This really looked ridiculous, so many good chances squandered. But too be fair he is also incredibly unlucky.
I think we make our own luck. He is clinical but not reliable. There are strikers that I will be willing to bet on to score even with just a little sight of goal and to do that consistently, Halland, Toney, Solanke. Nunez does not have that killer instincts.

I'm not sure why Hakimi took that penalty kick while there was a striker on the pitch; I've never trusted PKs with defenders.
It was an odd decision really, for a player that has never scored a penalty in his career during regular play.
But I do not think we should go too hard on him, when things do not go to plan, any other option would always look better in hindsight. The best of players can succumb to the pressure when it all rests on their shoulders.

Nunez created a record tonight too haha. Four woodwork hits in a single game - so frustrating but kept up his 1 goal/assist per 90 minutes, though!
How many chances does he need? He then turns up and scores a worldie from outside the box, it's almost like he doesn't like easy goals.

Liverpool were flawless tonight, missed so many chances and still won by such a high margin. Remember watching a video earlier today of a Chelsea fan comparing players from both clubs and was asking who know Bradley? They certainly know him now.

424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 31, 2024, 07:28:11 PM
it seems like a fairly easy match for Xavi`s Barcelona
It was an expected victory, but as all of their matches this season Barcelona has been making hardwork of the victory and just went ahead now about an hour of play through their new signing Victor Roque.

As with all their matches, you cannot still be certain they have gotten the victory. Barcelona has had difficulties seeing off matches after going ahead, through a slender or larger margin. The red card to Osasuna should help see it off.

425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Asian Cup 2023 Prediction and Discussion on: January 31, 2024, 07:24:51 PM
As for the other match between Iran vs Syria, currently Iran has a temporary position with a score of 1-0. Based on statistics, Iran dominated the match by far. Let's wait for the results of this match, whether they match my predictions.
Iran were able to come out ahead on penalties, but I do not see a way they come out on top against Japan in the quarter finals.

The Asian cup has been very entertaining so far, far beyond my expectations and I look forward to seeing which nation wins this edition.

Full of confidence from the start and still didn't put them in the pool - AFCON doesn't care about your CAF ranking, and no country should be underestimated. This is by far the best AFCON since the 2013 AFCON. The trophy has Nigeria written all over it.
After the miss by Hakimi I remembered your prediction. I expected a draw and then anybodies game on penalties and that might have been if they had gone level so close to the end of the match. It seemed only fitting anyway, cause I had not seen a team celebrate a yet-to-be-converted penalty that way.

This next round is the last for any real moves up or down the table. Time to go all in.

at least their coach reaction is now a meme for "to be stunned"
not sure if someone watched it, but it was actually as someone paused TV program when Nsue shot touched post, their coach was standing still with open mouth Smiley
I did catch that, took him some time to process and he quickly had to switch up and start clapping to encourage his players. The cruelty and beauty of football.

then had a late change from 1:1 on 2:1 for Egypt match
Late changes which go according to the initial pick are the worst.

Barça's problems go beyond the coach. Our financial problems have bound us, making it hard to compete or hire top talent.
But the manager is the major cog in the wheel and can make or mar a club.
Barcelona may not be able to get top talents but given the situation they found themselves in, they were able to make very smart transfers and bring in talented players, they now need a good coach to set the team in the right direction and Xavi, unfortunately, is not that manager.

I wish the club and manager well for the future and who knows, he may yet leave on a high, the league and UCL are still up for grabs.

Good victory for Guinea Aand DR Congo yesterday. Both were largely expected to lose but came out on top, two dark horses now meet in the quarter final. It came as a surprise seeing Nabi Keita come on so late, has he been injured r just did not cut it for the starting eleven?

Another set of tricky fixtures today. Would we see another upset? The hosts going through would definitely count as an upset.

The Cameroonian were the only top tie in our bracket and they gave us the easiest game ever. 0 shot on target.
Morocco are in the bracket as a potential semi-final opponent. They have not been at their world cup form, but they are still one of the best teams in the continent.

This one hurt. No matter today is a new day and new chance to get 0 points from two games  Grin
Let the rest of us have nice things

Klopp will be missed for sure and not just by Liverpool supporters.
He will be. A brilliant manager.

He brought energy and a winner's mentality to Mereyside red and left big boots to be filled by the next manager, that can also get bigger between now and the end of the season. His work at Dortmund was even more impressive.

I am thinking Nigeria finishes its journey today. Should be a good game and we should have goals on both sides but in the end I believe it will go to Cameroon side. Could go all the way to ET or penalties.
Nigeria 2.18   3.80 Cameroon

The odds favors Nigeria but many prediction websites expect Nigeria to lose tonight. Neither Nigeria or Cameroon has been convincing enough yet in the tournament, making this tie delicately poised.
I can see it going all the way to penalties.

SAF's dominance in the early PL era was even bigger, but the EPL then was not nearly as competitive as today.
That probably makes Guardiola the most successful manager overall - but yeah - money that he spent to get there will always be something that will diminish the success by a little bit.
SAF was very, very dominant during his time. He did face stiff competitions from may top coaches like Wenger with the invincibles and Jose during his first spell with Chelsea.
Overall you are right, the amount of money available to clubs now and the quality of football is much superior to what we had then, but history always has an appeal to it that the now does not have.

I think the most fair assessment of who overachieved the most would be the net amount spent per points won. In the same period they are in the PL, Guardiola won 716 points with a net spend of 700 mil and Klopp won 671 points with a net spend of 250 mil.
That throws a new perspective to it.

Angola vs Namibia is probably least interesting, and expected football quality is pretty low, and under goals in more secure pick than ML
It has been interesting so far. 3 goals scored, 2 red cards. Namibia made it difficult for a while but Angola took control of the game when both teams were equaled at 10 men.

Nigeria - Cameroon has the big game feel to it, I have high expectations for the fixture.

Igehbotz, you were right about the increase in spectators at the knock out stages, much better for this, would definitely be more for the later fixture.

Now you're misquoting me again: when SAF and Mou were fighting for the league title, Manchester City were busy collecting 5-0 and 6-0 every weekend
I was not quoting you there, I was driving my point home. Kindly point me to where I misquoted you before.

My point was that since winning their first EPL trophy in 2010/11, Manchester City has been the best team till date. I suppose we're on the same page now.
No, and I already pointed out why not. They only one 2/5 after their first league title, that is not best in the league quality. Those were just league winners at a time when the EPL was looking for the next dominant team after the exit of SAF. They were not the best team in the league until Pep took over and stamped his dominance.

Manchester City won their first EPL title under SAF noise in 2011 and has remained the best in England ever since. SAF was able to secure one before he retired...
This does not mean they were the best club in England during the era of Sir Alex nor have they been the best ever since. After theur maiden premier league title, they only won one more for the next four years, that is still a team trying to find their feet.
By the numbers; they won 2/5 from the start of their "best in the league" era, and since Pep joined they have won 5/7.

The closest rivalry to Manchester United at the time of SAF was Chelsea under Jose Mourinho.

Now every team gets too careful and all the matches will be slower with fewer chances created. I expect more draws but there should also be surprise victories, More difficult to pick out.

The 90 minutes score is also going to be determined by the fact that there is the possibility of extra time.

Sock puppet accounts that have so far been created to make fake feedback in this thread. To be tagged later
Reporting them to be nuked is much better than simply tagging them. That way, their posts are all deleted along with the accounts being restricted from posting.

439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as currency? on: January 26, 2024, 08:13:39 PM
The gambling industry is one of the biggest ones which utilizes bitcoin as a currency and is constantly growing attracting more businesses and users. They do not technically promote the usage of bitcoin, but accept it for transactions on their websites.

There are then several local businesses that accept BTC as a payment option.

we are not in the solo mining days of 2009-2011...
This does not mean that the language used to describe bitcoin mining has changed and your earlier comment will be confusing to newbies reading your message.
