421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: March 19, 2024, 07:33:35 AM
Hi everyone,

Gambling has become very popular in the world , especially after the changes that have occurred over the years with modern technology and the abundance of games, we can now gamble with one push    anywhere and anytime . More money is flowing to sites and casinos in huge quantities, and everyone’s goal is to win more ,As is always known, if there is a loser, there is a winner, and I don't think that the percentage of losers is greater than the winners .

Is this true gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it?

It is clearly proven that gambling is not an opportunity to make money but only to lose easily and quickly, but many people are very interested in playing there, in fact they do not hesitate to spend large amounts of money if gambling has entered their lives. thoughts then they will lose control and can gamble excessively.
And people who are interested there must have strong courage and patience because they must be able to accept all the risks from the gambling they do.
Not completely true that gambling doesn't offer the gambler an opportunity to make money at all. It does offer the opportunity just that the opportunity sharply slim compared to that of losing which is gigantically big in comparison. It is for this reason people who wants to gamble are advise to not treat it as a source of money making but as a form of leisure where the tendency to lose money is far higher than that of winning.

We have had people whose life has been changed by that slim opportunity to make(win) money which gambling offers but it wasn't an act of skill or professionalism but of luck and chance and, just in case you won, count yourself lucky for the opportunity.
422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Fire Your Best Employee Who Is Addicted To Gambling ? on: March 18, 2024, 09:06:08 PM
Let's say you are an employer and there is a clause in every worker's contract that they should have a good moral character to remain in your company.

Then you found out that one of your best employees who happens to be your best-performing employee is addicted to gambling and spends a lot of money on casinos.

Will you fire him because you think that those addicted to gambling do not have a good moral character and should not stay in your company?

Or you will just ignore it because you cannot afford to lose a good employee, because you worry that sales might suffer if you cut him from your company?

Please vote and let me know what you think.
Firstly I won't have employed him  if I had known that he is a gambling addict, but for the fact I have him in my payroll already as my employee I don't think I will go on to sack him. Importantly, if he's doing his job as expected and my company is getting the expected results then I have no issues with his private life how he chose to live it.

The only area I could have problems with his  gambling attitude is when his attitude to gambling starts interfering with working hours, company finances, and productivity from his own end of the desk. And if you notice carefully you will see that all of these things or some of these factors will eventually set in one way or the other so far as he's an addict and not just a normal gambler like every other regular responsible gambler.
423  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Will The Launch of Brics Help Solve Economic Crisis In Africa? on: March 18, 2024, 12:13:19 PM
Actually this Brics currency idea will definitely put a stop to the dominance of dollar in world financial market of a truth
How can you be so sure? Just like I said, inflation has it own advantages.

So what am trying to say is that, even though we adopted the Brics currency and we are still not doing anything different from what we are doing now, the Brics currency might be beneficial to other Brics nations but it won't be beneficial as intended to us
Nigeria and some other countries are planning to join BRICS and slightly want to shift away from the West. What I think more about is the there could be something called hidden agenda and trying to take away economy power from the US. Even if we join BRICS and continue to depend on other countries in technology, we will still lag behind. Countries like South Korea, Japan and some others are not joining BRICS but have stable economy because almost all what they are using are produced within themselves and also exporting.
It's all in the struggle for world power between the BRICS and the West all lobbying for allies to enlarge their camp.

The natural aspect about development is that it doesn't come from outside but rather starts through an internal drive. If a country's domestic economic policies are making developmental waves through programmes and measures that propagates  massive domestic productions in the different sectors of the economy thereby saturating the domestic market (with these goods and services domestically produce) turning the economy from a consumption type to a producing economy.

With such it would increase exportation leading to a decrease of importation since most of the goods/services that were imported before are now being produced within the country. All of this will lead to a less dependant on other countries or foreign organization membership and in turn boost the country's currency value, increase in jobs creation, foreign investment,  for this is how development is achieved and not by just belonging to partnership of wether the West or BRICS. The internal factors of development has to be addressed before all else, everything been equal.
424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake and Bruno Mars An Example of How Gambling Addiction Can Affect Anyone on: March 18, 2024, 10:47:09 AM
Don't be surprised it could be for related  reasons as this that we probably don't hear much about some of these celebrities again like we used to when they were in their prime in the music industry as debt for the wrong purposes has taken the better part of their financial life.

The lesson to learn is that gambling addiction is not respecter of Gender, economic status, race, nationality, religion. It will mess you up, bring shame and disgrace to you if you don't abide by the rules of responsible and do all you can to avoid it.
Technically this hits differently for all strata's, for people like them (Mars & Drake) through one or two concert or shows  they would have gotten the money to cover their debt unlike some of us unpopular gamblers that could barely earn a decent loan amount that's  without stress. What I appreciate for the different class of people is that none is immune to the consequences of addiction when they all gamble the wrong way.
425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 17, 2024, 09:35:04 PM
Hi community,

I remember when I was in middle school, we used to play cards almost every day, and our stupidity reached the point where we would skip classes while we were inside school. The method of playing was easy, as the largest number was the winning card. So, some of my friends and I would gather in the middle school bathroom and make bets with the money that we had collected  from selling cigarettes.
Of course, this is not something I am proud of and I do not recommend it to everyone, but it's just childhood memories .

-Have you ever bet at the wrong place and the wrong time?
Pardon me please but mehnn you did really had a rough childhood, selling cigarettes and gambling combined. How many classes did you actually miss Grin I am quite sure that there are some persons that have done things more worse than this for bets while growing up, and more interestingly there some of us that did some weird things just because of a girl in school we're into.

Maybe I have done something crazy in all my time of gambling especially in my childhood days with mates but can't recollect any of one of those occasions, but as an adult I remember many times I have had to take long route instead of a short cut route on my way back home just so I can stop at a gambling store along the road to book a bet mostly days I don't feel like gambling online for some personal reasons. I think at some points we tend to carry out some weird actions for the love of something we do and gambling is not excluded in that.
426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 17, 2024, 04:47:18 PM
Manchester united 1-0 Liverpool 30 minutes

The Liverpool team is now playing against Manchester United in the quarter finals of the FA Cup. Both teams want to win the FA Cup title. Since Manchester United's performance has been very erratic. The team is not playing in any Champions League and Europe League competitions. The team's chances of even being in the top four of the Premier League are slim. So Ten Hag will try their best to win the FA Cup title. Manchester United players will fight hard for victory against Liverpool today.

Manchester United took the lead with McTominay's goal just 10 minutes into the match. And United players are performing very well today. Liverpool continued to try to score. Liverpool's attack is strong with Salah, Nunez and Mac Allister. But even in 30 minutes, Liverpool could not equalize the match.
This Manchester united vs Liverpool game is giving me everything I look forward to this weekend in terms of the fun am getting from both sides, United has continued to the keep the paces whereas Liverpool are being more adventurous to making sure they get an equalizer before the end of the first half, a show of determination from both teams and despite it's Manchester united that's leading with a goal it's still daisy on who's going to eventually win this game. What a weekend!

Manchester United trailed 2-1 at the end of the first half, despite Manchester United leading 1-0 after 43 minutes. Manchester United should have performed cautiously. The opponent Liverpool is very strong. Liverpool players took full advantage of the mistakes made by Manchester United's defenders. Mac Allister in the 44th minute and Salah in the 45th + 2nd minute scored Liverpool's 2-1 lead at the end of the first half.

Manchester United played well enough in the first half. But still they are lagging behind. Manchester United team must be strategic if they want to win against a big team like Liverpool. A good performance alone cannot beat a big opponent. However, in the second half, both teams may change their match tactics. The second half is likely to be more challenging.
After united played an amazing ball in the few minutes of the game showing some great thrilling performance it was so surprising how Liverpool had to come from behind within a blink of an eye to get an equalizer and in a flash leading the game before half time. it was so electrifying and exciting to see this Klopp side pull such astounding results within a no time. The second half would be really dangerous for Manchester united as Liverpool would come in with a  much striking confident to score more goals and take a win back home.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 17, 2024, 04:22:40 PM
I am fascinated with the gradual improvement with the Chelsea boys only that they haven't shown enough promising improvement with the conversion of goal chances to the back of the net in many events, and if they can make a great change in their finishing then there are games they will have to win right from the first 45 minutes of the game with no much stressing at the second. Another weakness within the team is the style of substitution by the coach Pochettino his style of changes has been really poor in recent games just like today taking off Mudryk from the pitch instead of Sterling who wasn't really in the game today and these mistake has always changed the narrative of the some of Chelsea's games thereby affecting results.

428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: March 17, 2024, 03:18:53 PM
I do gamble on several occasions but I don't mince my resting time with gambling I know it's not good because it's only one of many signs of gambling addiction. Never at a time should we make the mistake of giving up the time that is resourceful to our source of income to spend it on gambling as it would affect our productivity to work, perhaps also putting our job security at risk for an activity as gambling that is not reliable.

I don't like panicking while gambling because it doesn't make you stable to make better choices with your predictions in the case of sports games, and it doesn't make sense that I should not be enjoying an activity I was supposed to be enjoying just because am doing it at the wrong time and don't have much time to engage in it as should at a much free time.
429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A call to self-examining our gambling habit. on: March 17, 2024, 05:47:08 AM
As gambler when last did you self-examine your gambling habit to create that awareness based on how you are gambling in order for you to be quite sure if you're within a considerable or an acceptable range of a gambling habit that is void of addiction or the tendencies of gambling addiction.
Many gamblers don't even see self examining as anything that is why people get easily addicted to gambling,  if people should try to follow up on their self if the manner at which they play gambling is okay , it will really help people from getting addicted,  and it can also help people to play responsible that will help one from losing much money in gambling . Self examining in gambling is another way of making one to learn how to be discipline while playing gambling.  This will be a guide for one to know if gambling is being played in the right way. Most gambling challenge that we find ourselves in is because we zo not try our best to examine ourselves in gambling.
There are phenomenal conditions that could make some people's perspective towards self examination in gambling as nothing of any use to them. Take for example,  society's that living conditions in that society are very poor and gamblers under that setting get hold of gambling as a means to make money which could in turn change their conditions for a better by the money that may be won through their constant gambling.

This fixation to making a win at all cost to better their life could be a hindrance to give heed to the necessity for self examination of their gambling life to withdraw a bit from how they constantly gamble in a way that seem as though their future depends on it maybe due to how other factors are not resulting favourable to them. But still I'll emphatically say that making time for self examining would do more good to such people than the opposite.

The injury has returned and now it has hit De Bruyne again. Reportedly De Bruyne is out of the Belgian squad list and with this Belgium has lost its midfield sector without De Bruyne. On the other hand, this is also a loss for Manchester City after they recently experienced big changes since De Bruyne's arrival. I mean, Manchester City really needs him as a game creator on the field and with a minor groin injury it is likely that he will miss several matches.

It is very unfortunate when the team and also the national team need his services to strengthen the game but he is injured again and I think Pep Guardiola must give his full attention to this key player. Erling Haaland will also experience some problems in scoring goals because he always relies on assists from De Bruyne. But I hope that future replacements like Phil Foden or Julian Alvarez can still have a big impact on Manchester City.

Huge blow for Belgium National Football Squad, Manchester City in the Premier League Competition and also the Champions League Competition.
I've said this before, it's high time they cash big on the magical midfielder, him absent means no productivity and delivery for Pep Guardiola's side and same for Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland for they will definitely struggle to score goals same way it happened for them earlier this season. Arsenal at least will no longer plan for Kevin De Bruyne ahead of the fixture they'd be having against defending Champions Manchester City.

The Saudi's are so eager to see him signed up but no concrete moves have been made already. I hope to see them take a bold step to get him. He will also not be available as they go on to play Real Madrid in the Champions League Competition.
It's very sad news to me that such a magical player would be on the sidelines continuously due to injuries, it's because of players him we the neutral fan go to the stadium just for us to see some of his magical passes, and his absence is always felt in this Manchester City side, and I am quite sure that arsenal will be licking their mouth in excitement for his absence in their upcoming premier league encounter at the Etihad, but as for that tie, it's really going to be a fascinating encounter between the two, it's an open tie and it can go either sides.
De Bruyne has been sidelined with injury problems for a long time and we felt his absence very well during the time he was out. Since De Bruyne's return from injury, however, Manchester City have seemed re-energized and every Manchester City player seems more confident. De Bruyne is one of Manchester City's most reliable attacking midfielders, whose magical passes many players rely on to score goals and play well. It will definitely be bad news for Manchester City if this player is sidelined again due to injury problems. Manchester City have a tough match ahead against Real Madrid. Besides, they are in a good position in the English Premier League now, if they do not get the services of this player for a long time, they may drop a few steps in the points table.
I do feel sorry for him whenever the thought of how severally injuries has made him missed a couple games this season and how he has to battle with picking and keeping back to form after each return which is in extension putting the future of his career at risk if he would be able to stay for a long career in football in the likes of Pepe (Porto) age 41  and Cr7 age 39 yet still in active football. And here's a young man of age 32 but always prone to injury after another or perhaps it could be as a result of too much work load expected on him (from both fans and coach) to always deliver in the midfield position whenever he's available.

It is with no doubt that his absence will have a huge effect on Manchester City's team when they meet the Spanish side Real Madrid in the champions league and also in the EPL but Gardiola has always been that exceptional coach who will always find a way out to keep his team still in force and in winning ways while they awaiting for De Bruyne's return.
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Paper Betting- Would You Consider it if you Were to Start Sports betting Again on: March 16, 2024, 10:41:06 AM
It is an alternative to which those who do not have experience and would like more than to earn money to be entertained should go, in my case I would not do it, I can assume at sports betting losses without problems.

Not just you mate, many other gamblers won't do it and it could be considered to be a waste of time in doing that when the game gambling is not about how much time you take to learn about it that determines how often or consistently your winnings will be coming in but basically  determined by chance if you will win or lose.

Furthermore, sports betting shouldn't be that had for a pure beginning in as much as he has some ideas about the team's and the rules of play in that particular sport he's interested in making his predictions on for a bet. Football for instance, as a football fan you don't need be told a team like Manchester City is with high chances of winning a team like Aston Villa in a match, it's just for you to go ahead with a straight win for Man. City and that's how it begins down to other gambling options as you proceed. Right?
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Online Casinos Publish Their Bankroll? Your Thoughts? on: March 16, 2024, 10:26:41 AM
Big or small bankrolls I think all of that doesn't really matter with casino's reputation being put in check. And could only create some kind of intimidation among casinos between those of small bankrolls and those of large amount of bankroll.

On the other hand, some dubious unsuspecting casino's (mostly new ones that are just emerging) could use their size of bankroll to cover for being able to potentially keep a good reputation by coming into the market with a heavy bankroll that may drive in large attraction just to end up scamming the unsuspecting users.

So this is what I think about making bankrolls public by casinos, it should be at the casino's discretion and not under any enforcement laws that generally demands of it in order to avoid the above.

434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 15, 2024, 01:39:54 PM
Arsenal main focus at the moment is to improve their game, indeed so far Arsenal performance in the league has been very good and managed to score many goals, but for the Champions League it seems that they must be able to improve their mentality and performances to be even better because the competition in the Champions League is tighter, currently the Champions League League leaves a strong and experienced team,  So Arteta should have used the experience against Porto as a lesson, I think Porto was a slightly weak team in the last 16 yesterday but Arsenal had to work hard enough to beat him and get here, and now they are awaited by a team that is maybe 3 times stronger than Porto.

At the moment Arsenal should not talk about trophies or even qualify for the final, because indeed their position is a little difficult and better for Arsenal to continue to focus on improving their performance ahead of the quarter-final match later, because surely Arsenal will also not be able to avoid big teams like Manchester City and Madrid in the Champions League in drawing later.
all of this depends on Arteta as the coach who manages Arsenal to be able to maintain the physical and fitness of the players and as long as Arteta can rotate players very wisely, Arsenal will certainly be a little more likely to continue to advance to the final round, but I'm not sure.
In this quarter final round, all the teams that qualified were big teams with very good quality performance and quite good experience, but even so, Arsenal still had the opportunity to get a ticket to the final round even though they had to play a difficult match.
and on the one hand it is true what you say that all of this will also depend on the draw of the opponents in this quarter final round because if they face a team of higher quality I am sure Arsenal will fail in the quarter finals this time.

Arsenal didn't play badly against Porto, it's just that they looked quite nervous. Maybe between the Champions League and the Premier League, there is a different pressure and because of this, what I see is that Arsenal cannot play freely, and they are quite burdened to chase a 1 goal deficit. Luckily they were able to win through penalties, but if they continue to play the same way in the quarter-finals later, I think it will be quite difficult for Arsenal to beat Bayern Munich. They don't just have to improve their performance in the Champions League but they also should have a strong mentality when playing in an important match that has a lot of pressure.

It's not a surprise to me that Arsenal can't keep  up to it high level of performance in the champions league, because the championships league have it own added pressure, and secondly, this arsenal team lack experience especially in the champions league, so it's quite normal that they weren't able to dominate fc Porto completely, especially in the second leg.

Another thing about this arsenal team is that, they aren't physical enough in that encounter between Porto, they really struggled in that aspect, congratulations anyway to them for progressing via penalties, but I think that lack of experience will cost them in this season's champions League as they face Bayern Munich in the next round.
435  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If you can't Invest in Bitcoin, buy assets on: March 15, 2024, 06:29:38 AM
If you're a good business person that knows how to read the times and study the market, there is so much you can make out of this consistent increase in the price of major goods in this country
Does that mean, that we should be happy when the price of things constantly increase in the market? For all I know, what ever goods you are selling or what ever business you are into, an increase in price in the general market will also make you spend more than you used to while purchasing your goods.  Most time, the problem of our country is we the people. Just last 2weeks here, the price of a water bag went up to 500naira. Traders saw this as a way of making profits for them self. Selling one sachet for 50 naira(here in my area). This I think it's unfair because if you are to buy from factory as a trader fr maybe 400 or 350 then you are selling a sachet for 50naira that means you mean to make profit of 500 back that's over gain and not right. We shouldn't see the condition of the country as a means to be smart as we will all suffer the consequences. If you notice in This country, what goes up doesn't come down.
The economic hardship in the country we have times without number blamed it on the politicians that are in charge of the allocation of resources (don't get me wrong about what I want to say, am no way exonerating them either on this) but imagine where all the marketers/businesses men/women have now without conscience are poised to make  an extra 3 times gain of whatever item they are selling out there

and to them they fill it's an opportunity to make profit thereby causing an artificial economic hardship that could be avoided if all decides to make at least a 10-15% gain in whatever items they are selling. But because the institutions responsible for price control has failed in it's duties the market men and women has jump on the crude opportunity to pillage the people forgotten that what goes around comes around.

Days ago, a fellow Nigeria was complaining on X about his ordeal with a sachet water seller that took the opportunity of his car breaking down along the Lagos mainland bridge due to overheating, and he called on the sachet water seller to  get him about 10 sachet of water thereabout so he could pour into his radiator (engine cooling)  the young lad sold each sachet for #50 which was not supposed to be so but the car owner had no option but to buy at that price due to his state at the moment (and this is same in all other commodities). Now the young lad will go home feeling he had made a profitable business for the day but that's bad and exploitative business.

This is exactly the nature of things now in the country,  the prices of alot of goods and services are outrageously inflated by the business men and women when the actual price has gone anywhere near what they are selling at, and we all keep blaming the government when we are our problem in the first place. This is all greed. On the other hand I blame the government because they are failing on their mandate to judiciously enforce the legitimate coercive use of force through it's appropriate price regulatory agency in all of these happenings.

I don't know or understand anymore where we're going again. Only time will tell.

437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake on a potential(obvious) loosing team just for love? on: March 14, 2024, 06:10:56 AM
To be sincere I can't do no such thing with my money all in the name of the love of my football club. I can always give that moral support even when it's obvious they are going to lose the game but it won't go beyond moral to financial in my gambling for or against them.

Yes, we can support them even if we know that their chances are slim against a very good team. But to bet our money, just for the sake of it, and because it is our favorite ball club, is completely wrong for a avid fan of the sports.

Loving my favourite team so much would either mean I don't bet against them at all, instead of me betting in their favour in game's I know they are going to lose. The whole idea is that it's going to be a wasteful of funds and no one that has value for money will be comfortable wasting it knowingly.

Or maybe yet, just don't bet on the game. Just watch it and see how our team will do against their opponents. If they lose, then we go home and suckered it like a man and no regrets or anything. And just look for the next match that we might bet on them.
I read some preceding comments from other members and I just smiled because I can perceive that some of them are just trying to be economical with the truth of the matter when they argue that they will at all times bet in favour of their team even when the team has no chance of winning the game, and this is very misleading to even think about it.

Imagine me feeling sad for losing my money and also bearing a loss from my favourite loving team. Oh man, it's best I avoid the avoidable by just watching the game and exchanging the banters from opponent fans as a show of love for my team than including money to it.

There are gamblers who have great instincts and can forecast games that may end up winning the bet. But they are scared that they may lose. They dont trust their own betting predictions so they would rather go to a gambling prediction site to some daily betting tips.

So i want to know as a gambler that you are, do you feel following those betting predictions from those sites would favour us in gambling more than our own predictions? For me i trust my predictions and i have won more when i predict for myself than letting someone predict for me.

There is no better prediction than your own prediction, if the prediction turns out to be correct then you have the right analysis and even if it goes to lose, you can learn a lot from your mistakes. When I first started betting on football, I preferred predictions from a site, this was because of my limitations in terms of analysis. But for now, I won't even believe a bit of what the prediction provider sites say, because they usually predict based on how big or small the team is, even though in football betting it's not just that, there are other factors that influence it.
People that depends on predictions from prediction sites are usually those with limited knowledge about the sport they show interest in betting on and I have witnessed a lot of gamblers attest to this and with time they get broad insight about the sport and start doing the predictions gradually on their own with a few additions from prediction sites.

What makes some group of gamblers to have much confidence on prediction sites games  over theirs is due to the common believe that those games from prediction sites are been done by professionals in the industry but the truth is that gambling been a game of chance, no prediction is 100% accurate except it's a fixed match which is also very rare though.

I mainly stick to my own predictions more often than predictions sites, that's because I believe in my ability to do a better judgement on it and I have had more wins with my own predictions than I have had with those of prediction sites. There are times I had to merge my predictions with those of prediction sites and it happens that it's the prediction sites games that usually kills my bet. Which is why I don't take prediction sites games  serious than I do with those games I predict myself.

To be sincere I can't do no such thing with my money all in the name of the love of my football club. I can always give that moral support even when it's obvious they are going to lose the game but it won't go beyond moral to financial in my gambling for or against them.

Loving my favourite team so much would either mean I don't bet against them at all, instead of me betting in their favour in game's I know they are going to lose. The whole idea is that it's going to be a wasteful of funds and no one that has value for money will be comfortable wasting it knowingly.

Something about economic growth is that every government who want to drive the growth of it's economy to be competitive must first and foremost create an enabling environment that is insecurity free and conducive for both local and foreign investment to thrive. The insecurities and the economic downturn the Nigeria economy is facing today is as a result of the lack of the deliverables of social welfares and amenities, as it has always been so much promises with nothing to show off, at different levels of government it has always been more of politics than good governance  and over the years it has constantly reverberate negatively on the country's economy.

I think if in every general elections we are a concerned citizens can be able to deliver on our mandate to vote in good leadership's in all level's of the government no matter how little the number might be in each election's we can gradually have the good taking over the corrupt politicians which will immensely affect our economic growth based on their good leadership policies and programmes just as we can see in some of the states like Abia, Rivers, and the Niger Op made mentioned of.
