Wow what a great fight.  Aldo and Holloway looked sharp.  Aldo had a good start and was on point with his counters, but didn't throw any leg kicks.  I'm happy for Holloway...well deserved.

I think Karolina will defeat Claudia.

That's my prediction.   Cheesy

It may not be a good prediction.

That's the impression I get from watching the open workouts & listening to some of the things they're saying.

Of course open workouts aren't reliable as some fighters like Max Holloway throw their punches and kicks at 10% during open workouts while fighters like Jose Aldo throw their punches and kicks closer to 60%. It can be hard to gauge how good or powerful someone's technique is.

lol...why should Holloway put on a good open workout for the crowd when they're yelling out that he's going to die?  Wink

I'm torn between who to choose between Aldo and Holloway.  I'm for Holloway, but tough to bet against Aldo.

Any of you guys bet via bitcoin?

Everyone in this thread bets with bitcoin. Check their wallets, they are all empty. Grin

If you find it hard to choose between Jose and Max, look for any small advantages one has over the other. In this fight it is the advantage of the home crowd for Jose.

lol what platforms are being used for betting with bitcoin?

Agreed - that's a good tip, but I'm not going to bet on this particular fight.  Home crowd is a huge advantage, and I'd probably lean towards Aldo to win the fight, but not with much confidence.  I'll watch this one for entertainment and bet on the ones I'm more sure of (not that it's a sure thing either) Smiley

I really think that Jose Aldo will approach this fight like he faced Frankie Edgar where he will pick his shots and since Max Holloway is not a great wrestler expect some vicious leg kicks and Aldo has one of the nasty leg kicks in MMA history and it all depends upon his game plan,i wish i could see the old WEC Aldo where he was finishing people and yes i am wagging with bitcoin.

Yeah I'd say Aldo has the best leg kicks in the UFC...maybe Edson Barboza is close.  He looked good against Edgar.  If he can damage Holloway's front leg...the later rounds especially are going to be tough.

WEC Aldo is no more...those flying knees and crazy knock outs...he's more into technical boxing now.  In his defense, it's difficult to fight like he used to in WEC as a long time champion.
426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is gambling so addicting? on: June 03, 2017, 12:29:00 AM
Winning money through gambling gives us a huge dopamine response (reward system that feels great).  Once that fades, we would naturally want to have that feeling again by winning.  Some people are better at managing this with logic and rationale or even fear, but others are dopamine fiends and need to continue to play.
I completely agree with your opinion , people did not realize about this situation directly.
But by keep chasing the lost you have , and desire to win more and more money it is shows how get hooked you are.
Be logic sometimes not guarantee you anything to control yourself to not get addicted

Yeah treating gambling as a source of income, where you "need" to end on top...I think that's where it starts to get dangerous.

If you go in with money that is acceptable to lose, and understand the odds are against you, but you just might luck out, then it's fine.  This goes for games where you're playing against the house.  For playing poker against other people, then it depends on your ability to play relative to your peers.

Logic would keep you from being addicted, which is more of an impulsive/emotional response.
Yeaaa sometimes you really need to completely understand about how the odds always against you to avoid confusing and some curious feeling too keep trying and choose on that trap odds right?
But still as at the first place basically gambling itself contains something addictive then you should be careful that more than 50% you will get addicted in the end.

Yeah I do find that people that do enjoy gambling often (that are not professional), don't have a good understanding of how odds work, or what the odds are for games that they do play.  It would be more based on intuition, luck, or superstition.

I remember enjoying Finite in high school, mainly because a lot of the course was focused on probability, and many examples would be based on card or table games, to calculate odds.

Gambling does seem to fill a void for some.  Those with a fulfilling life are more likely to resist falling into the trap...but when you don't have a lot going for you, it may seem like a way to acquire wealth.  Undecided

428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: June 02, 2017, 05:30:54 AM

Agreed, because if they are going to catch the drug lords or the big fishes, then they could assure that those who are buying or using drugs can't buy anymore since the supplier and the maker of this illegal drugs has been already detained to prison. This big fishes that you were saying is the only problem, without them, there are no illegal drugs, and if there are no illegal drugs, then we don't have any problem about illegal drugs addiction.

Problem solved.

There are many legal drugs that are highly addictive such as oxycontin or morphine (or any optiate), and there are illegal drugs that are not addictive at all (lsd, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, dmt, etc.).

The government is not looking out for your health by making non-pharmaceutical drugs illegal.  Most deaths in the states are from completely legal drugs (tobacco, alchohol, prescription drugs).

There will be no illegal drugs when all drugs are legalized.  Doesn't make sense to put anyone in jail for doing drugs in their own house.

What you refer to as "big fish" are organized crime, meaning they are part of the system we are in.  There is no removing them unless drugs are legalized.  Prohibition has failed miserably throughout history.

https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.

Let's split crime into two categories.  Crimes that have a victim and victimless crimes.

Victimless crimes would include things like drug purchases and sales or gambling/betting where illegal.  These things were being done long before bitcoin was around and there's no victim, so it's just a "crime" as a result of a pathetic policy.  After all, "The only danger of smoking weed is that you might end up in jail".  Perhaps it does increase the ease in acquiring drugs or gambling if it's not readily available locally.

For actual crimes, with a victim, where someone is caused harm...I don't think there would be an increase with Bitcoin.

Mirko Crocop is a legend no doubt about that and when he came to the UFC he could not perform like he used to be in the past, his performance was on a slide when he signed for the UFC and he ended his career in Japan with a championship victory and he announced his retirement, good to see him get to retire on a winning note and that too a heavyweight title,it is time for Anderson Silva to step out of the UFC and have some fun fights and call it quits like Mirko did.

After the Rizen win in Japan by Mirko im sure he retired with a good sensation, he demonstrated he could still kick ass.

He should retire now, im sure he is a multi millionaire, all he needs to do now is open a couple gyms and enjoy the unlimited passive income.

Same goes for Silva, his days in the UFC as a world champion are over.

I have no idea about Aldo vs Holloway, that's one I can't predict.

Im saving some money for the Mayweather vs McGregor fight, that's going to be huge. I don't see how you cant lose if you bet for a Mayweather win. It worked 49 times.

The hype when Mirko joined the UFC was so huge that time. But losses to many unknown fighters that time stop the hype train, too bad. As for Silva, nothing to proved anymore. He is already a legend and please don't fight and enjoy your life.

As for Mayweather's record. "49 have tried and 49 have failed".

Still having a hard time picking Aldo vs Holloway? You are not the one. I still don't know who to pick with.

Mirko was great in pride and I the type of training they did back then was different.  They didn't do as much research into the opponent and develop in depth game plans.  It was okay to be a one sided fighter back then.  He had great take down defense and the lethal kicks.  But in the UFC, people are constantly looking out for his kick and it wasn't a surprise anymore.  He also wasn't able to adapt and keep his opponent guessing...he just continued with the same style and had trouble evolving.

As for Aldo vs. Holloway...hard to say for me as well.  Holloway's confidence is at an all time high.  I think it's safe to say this will be a stand up fight, so depends on if Aldo can chop the leg down and land hay makers to rock Holloway, who has a great chin...or if Holloway can put pressure on Aldo and get him moving backwards, and in boxing distance.  I see it being pretty even as they're both beasts.

433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your biggest bitcoin regrets? on: June 01, 2017, 04:12:11 AM
I've been bullish with Bitcoin, and to be honest it has gone up quicker than I expected.  I'm not surprised at the price, but I am a little surprised at how quickly it got to where it's currently at.

The regret is that I got a small amount of bitcoin through sig campaigns a couple years ago, but didn't invest my own money into it.  Stayed in the stock market and cash instead, which haven't gained anything close to bitcoin.
434  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: May 31, 2017, 05:33:15 PM
You just supported my stance rather than refuting it Smiley.  The one I quoted said that signature campaign is categorized as self-employed  stuff.  And your explanation justified my stance .  The discussion with my quoted reply solely revolves around signature campaign .

Signature campaigns are a source of income, and can be categorized as self-employment, but depending on where you live and what the cost of living is, it will mean different things to different people.

For example, I've been to some countries in Asia with a significantly lower cost of living and lower salary on average than say North America.  There was a general labourer that was employed for $125/month in Indonesia.  This is enough to pay for the cost of living for him.  He would be able to quit that and be employed through signature campaigns, and probably make a bit more money depending on how mature the account is.

However in Europe or North America, it's not a significant amount of money to cover anything close to the cost of living.  So it can be a hobby where there is some income associated with it, but another source of income is definitely required to get by.
435  Other / Meta / Re: BAN ALL SIG CAMPAIGNS on: May 31, 2017, 06:09:44 AM
Days on end wasted scrolling through nonsensical, unoriginal and distasteful posts.
Members spamming the community with comments to advance their sig campaign earnings, prostituting themselves for pathetic amounts of Bitcoin.
It's a plague and it must end.
Discuss.
While it may be hypocritical of me to say so, I believe that the fault is left on the higher management of this forum rather than the signature campaign themselves. theymos doesn't care about signature spammers polluting the forum, which as a result has it so that every other staff member cannot do anything about it without going against his word. I already know of at least one staff member that has adopted the "if you can't beat them, join them" attitude, mostly due to theymos' distance from the actual problems that are arising on the forums that he manages.

However, the forum is getting consistent ad revenue, so there is obviously nothing going wrong.

I would think it's an issue with how some of the signature campaigns are managed.  I think that signature campaign managers should be "scouting" good quality posters that they'd like to promote their product, rather than everyone applying to be a part of a signature campaign, regardless of whether or not they support the product.  When the criteria for accepting people into a campaign is lax, then a high quantity of low quality posts are the result.

Of course this would require a lot of time and due diligence for the campaign managers, and not everyone may have that type of time.

no no no no no i myself do not use the evil web only reputable shop in netherlands
that's good. never use the good thing into bad. Bitcoin was made to help people especially jobless people to have a work. Bitcoin was made for us to earn money. And im hoping that every bitcoin users will use it in a right so that will bitcoin will have a better future. I think that Drug can destroy bitcoin if they allow it.
well, at first, bitcoin is used in the deepweb for many bad things including buying drug. Drug is still better. There are people using bitcoin to buy human doll and slave

What do you mean "drugs is still better"? Did you mean you are comparing bad things you can do with bitcoins?! Generally you buy anything with fiat too, so I don't even know why people are talking about bitcoins for drugs or anything bad. Remember that bitcoin users doesn't even comprise 1% of the world. So mainly anything bad is still mostly bought using fiat.
Exactly Bitcoin is still money and you can do anything you want from it, the only difference is Bitcoin can make you secure the privacy you needed if you are transacting something outside the laws of the man. To be on point its not even Bitcoin's fault or any currency in which they are being use to buy things like that. You know what will solve it? Just by legalizing safe drugs like marijuana will surely drive the market down, which will make it cheaper and also clear the image of Bitcoin being some kind of drug only money.

Wait, what? Legalizing marijuana everywhere will turn the world upside down. The government will lose the taxes they get from tobacco companies. Tobacco companies surely will be devastated. And most especially, people are going to be always happy.

Legalizing marijuana will surely decrease the price in the market. The price might even go up at some point because of scarcity. Today, the price of marijuana and all the drugs out there are so high because it's hard to find a supplier of it. When they legalize it, people are going to plant weed everywhere and, thus, the price will go down. Maybe it might eventually even become free since it's not hard to cultivate that plant in most places.

Firstly, who gives a fuck about tobacco companies?  They're pretty comfortable killing off their customer base without any remorse at all.

Legalization doesn't necessarily lower the price.  Having legal marijuana means that it will be subject to regulations and taxes, which may actually increase the price.  In Canada, marijuana should be legalized by 2018.  And so far, from what I can see from "medical" dispensaries, the cost will increase in comparison to the black market.

Not everyone knows how to grow plants or will take the time to do so.  Our legalization will allow 4 plants per household.
437  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin improve the economy of a country? on: May 30, 2017, 06:04:24 PM
In the current financial system, a lot of resources are dedicated to banking, and getting money from the central bank, as it passes through the banks until it reaches the end user.  So getting money to a productive capacity isn't as efficient as it could be, as the banks become the middle man and take a piece for themselves.

Also wealth and income dictates the cost of debt.  The cost of borrowing depends on level of affluence; the more wealthy the cheaper the debt.

From this perspective, Bitcoin would be more fair, as no one would get preference over anyone else.  Whether that would actually improve an economy depends on how it's treated, but I think the potential is there.  Removing banks from the equation and getting funds directly to a productive capacity would have some benefit to people as a whole, at the cost of the elite and large corporate interests.
438  Economy / Economics / Re: A nice pic showcasing why you should hold BTC longterm on: May 30, 2017, 05:15:55 PM
Seeing those picture wants be to start believing if I could have the power to go back in time to either get to join bitcoin earlier or even to reverse the sale of those ones I have made when I eventually joined. But the truth be told, if all of us should decide to hop without selling then I see worthlessness setting in because it then means exchange site won't have anything to sell which means they are likely to shut down and when those coming in wants to buy and can't find on the exchange sites, they then given up and the value drops even in our hands.

If you're going to get in the time machine, don't waste your time with bitcoin...just go win the lottery Smiley

And in terms of hoarding bitcoin...everyone has their price.  Very difficult to get the whole world to agree to never sell.  Plus some people use it to actually transact rather than use it as a storage of value.

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, iŽm free to go wherever i want (sheŽll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

You need to do some traveling around the world to experience different cultures and environments and see how you feel.  Regardless of what anyone recommends here, different places around the world suit different people.

Are you willing to learn a new language?  If not, that will narrow your potential countries greatly.

Having traveled to 18 countries so far, I would likely choose Bali.  But I personally wouldn't choose a place to "settle".  If you prefer something else in the future, why restrict yourself to a single place?
